Just back from my holiday and on the...

Aug 2007, Mr Mj Lessells

Just back from my holiday and on the whole the hotel was aright. I have read some of the reviews, some of them spot on and others way of the mark. You could not get better placed for instance.
The supermarket was a stones throw away, 15 mins walk to theme park. 2 mins in a taxi if you’re really lazy. It was only a 5min walk to the beach and it has to be the cleanest beach I have ever sat my bum on.
The hotel was very clean; the rooms were done everyday with clean towels. Downside on the room was that there was me my girl and my 12 year old jammed into the room but we just made do. The fact is your not going to be in the room allot anyway.
The hotel staff were ok some more pleasant than others. As for the night time entertainment just go out for the night cos it’s shocking. There are plenty of nice bars along the beach front to visit for cocktails and some of the fountains come on at 10 o clock which make it a nice place to sit for a bit.
Also if you have bought theme park tickets the place doesn't shut till 12 and at 11:30 there's a fantastic fireworks display. Overall a good holiday.

This was the best holiday I have ever...

Jul 2007, Mr R Gilder

This was the best holiday I have ever had and the hotel was faultless. All staff were very polite and friendly. The hotel was absolutely spotless and constantly being cleaned.
I have never seen so much choice on a breakfast / dinner buffet in a hotel! The quality of the food was excellent, much of it you could watch being made.
Room was nice and again very clean. The only problem was that there were a few people who got pick-pocketed in the resort, but this is typical of most Spanish tourist resorts and also happens a lot in home towns in the UK!
The beach was a short walk from the hotel and was absolutely amazing! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly go back myself.

Lovely Hotel, I was very impressed!
The bar was brilliant! The swimming pool was weird but in a good way and all the staff was really nice most of them spoke English.
Were the hotel was it was so close to the shops and the main street and it was near the beach which was good.
I was very pleased with the hotel.

First holiday away with my best...

Apr 2007, Miss M Thompson

First holiday away with my best friend and it was absolutely brilliant.
Spent all day everyday doing absolutely nothing but that was purely by choice.
Food was flawless if anything-too much choice and we just had to try it all or best part of it anyway, they cater for all.
Room was lovely apart from the double bed we had to share-if we'd been a married couple I bet there would have been two single beds!
Entertainment every night, poolside bingo every afternoon, irritating but the kids enjoy it and if it keeps them from crying I'm all for that.
A few busy roads to navigate if you go into town. Safety deposit box in the room - you hire it then at the end of the stay your money is returned.
Better exchange rate in the hotel too and there's no commission. Would love to go back but looking at the prices this year - not a chance, never mind.
Only bad point - those ruddy Dutch laying claim to sun beds at 7am which they only use for half the day despite staff attempts at putting flyers on the sun beds asking customers to refrain - foreigners huh!

When we first arrived at the hotel...

Sep 2006, Miss Ae Denton

When we first arrived at the hotel they did not have a room ready for us. My 2 year old son was exhausted but we were told we would just have to wait. When the room was eventually ready after one and a half hours we had 3 single beds crammed into 1 medium sized room. We couldn’t even open the wardrobe doors properly.
the food was awful and looked undercooked so the extra we had spent on getting half board was a waste because we were eating out everyday. my partner was mugged on the first night there.
We did not see a holiday rep the whole of the fortnight that we were there. The staff at the hotel were unfriendly, did not seem to understand us or want to help. Entertainment at the hotel was poor. They wouldn’t even let my son in the pool with his swimmer nappies on.
The staff got angry with us one a night because my son couldn’t get to sleep and was crying, they said he was making too much noise and to keep him quiet. How you are supposed to do that with an uncomfortable 2 year old who is being sick is beyond me! I was definitely glad to leave and will not be going back there again.

A very nice hotel in good location,...

Jul 2006, Mrs S Simpson

A very nice hotel in good location, close to the beach and Port Aventura within walking distance.
The pool was a good size and always plenty of sun loungers available. The rooms were fair, just the usual you would expect, bathrooms quite spacious and a very good shower. Everything very clean. Maid service every day, clean towels on demand. The hotel is quite large and the restaurant does get very busy. You really need to be there for it opening for the evening meal otherwise you will need to wait for a table.
The down side here was that the hotel was full of quite elderly people, and I don’t just mean your average pensioner. I’m talking real coffin dodgers! Most needed a walking aid of some description. We felt like we were eating in the dining room of a retirement home. Having said that the food was fine and always plenty of choice. I can’t understand people complaining about lack of children’s food. Their children are surly far too fussy and are spoiled with whatever they want at home.
You are in a foreign country for goodness sake, there was plenty healthy options. I can’t comment on the entertainment as we went out every night, but there was something on every day. Internet access at the hotel for the teenagers which pleased my daughter.

The Europa park is a very well...

Jul 2006, K McPheat

The Europa park is a very well situated hotel for all Salou's amenities. Very clean and well kept hotel with friendly and helpful staff, however the evening entertainment was very, very poor, the hotel had a lot of elderly people especially Spanish and we found the entertainment revolved solely around them.
I have a teenage daughter who spent most of the time on an internet site after 7pm as there was nothing for her to do. Being in our forties the party we were with had to venture outside the hotel to make our own entertainment. For this reason I would not book into the Europa Park again.
Many of the friends we made felt the same, especially the ones with teenagers.
The restaurant food was okay for adults but a limited menu when it came to children. Most of the people with kids had to go and eat out, and when you have paid for Half Board then eating out it is an added cost to your holiday that many people could not afford.

I would like to say to all holiday...

Jul 2006, Miss N Lacey

I would like to say to all holiday makers reading these other comments just before going there to ignore them. I read these 2 days before I went and nearly ended up canceling my holiday because of their comments.
we have now just returned and haven't got one bad thing to say the staff where friendly rooms where very comfortable with air conditioning and the food was lovely and fresh with loads of different varieties every night and no matter what time you went it was always still hot we never set foot out of the hotel to eat.
As for the entertainment there was different shows on every night which we stayed and watched and must have been enjoyable as was packed out every night.
It was also a mix of nationalities in the hotel but mainly English and we made some very good friends! All in all this was a very good holiday and thoroughly enjoyed please do not let these other comments put you off!

This was the first holiday abroad...

Jun 2006, Miss Z Harrison

This was the first holiday abroad with my partner and I can say I have nothing to complain about, the hotel is clean, the rooms are ideal for myself and my partner.
I cant quite understand why in other reviews people are complaining about the food, it was lovely, if you are willing to try new things you will be very happy, they had lots of English dishes if you don’t want to try new things.
None of the food was cold and as for the microwave statement, rubbish. Everything about this hotel is good, nice pool, ideal location.

My girlfriend and my first holiday...
5 / 10
May 2006, Mr G McCormick

My girlfriend and my first holiday together was an 'OK' experience as far as the hotel was concerned.
Luckily I’m not a fussy eater and got what did me. But my girlfriend had more to complain about as far as the food was concerned. Especially the evening meal. Beans on toast with cold ham and a croissant or 2 was the breakfast most days for both of us. Selection of evening meals was not great but there was enough salads to fill a hole with pizza 1 night and pork or fish other nights. was sometimes cold if you weren’t in near the opening time. Plenty of rice and pasta dishes.
We weren't allowed to bring any sort of drinks into the buffet area at evening meal time. You have to buy ALL the drinks in the evening! Deserts weren't bad and was usually fresh fruit like watermelon, pineapples of different cakes or custard.
Rooms were basic but adequate with security box costing 18euro for the 7 day stay. Shower was excellent I must say with water to lift the skin off you're back. Daily cleans kept the rooms in excellent order. Fresh towels every day and bed linen the odd time too. We had a pool view which was partially blocked by 1 of the many trees at the pool. Less of these would do. If you want shade while at the pool, GO INSIDE.
To sum it up, a good hotel experience tarnished by the food.

Jul 2005, Mrs D Bulloch

This hotel was overall very good. The reception staff were very helpful and most of them spoke English.
The dining room staff were extremely friendly and happy. Our rooms were basic but very clean, maid service daily, bed linen changed often and we had clean towels daily. The food was very good considering the amount of people and the variety of nationalities they had to cater for.
The resort was very clean and everything was within easy reach of the hotel. The beach was a short walk and Port Aventura, the theme park, was a short bus ride away. There are lots of restaurants and pubs within easy reach, we found a really small but extremely friendly bar just across from the hotel called The Piano Bar, definitely worth a visit.

We went on holiday with our friends...
1 / 10
Sep 2004, Ms C Reid

We went on holiday with our friends in Sept 2004.
We found the hotel was clean but not comfortable, it catered mainly for the 60 plus, and most of the guests were French or Belgian, very little was on offer to the British guests, food was awful, they even had a microwave for you to heat up your evening meal, entertainment awful, okay if you like foxtrot & quickstep, service not very good either.
Had to go looking for the entertainment manager one day only to find he hadn’t bothered to come in, it took staff nearly an hour to find this out.
Would not go back to this hotel.
