" We booked into the hotel Augustus to... "

We booked into the hotel Augustus to be pleasantly surprised that our room was located overlooking the beach. It was fantastic, the room was spacious enough for myself my husband and our daughter. We think it has also just recently been done up.

Breakfast was ok but as my husband likes treating himself to a full English breakfast on holiday he was disappointed at the Spanish version of it. Luckily we found the railway bar right next door which served delicious breakfasts and also we found after trying a few different places the best dinners.

The hotel was kept very clean and we couldn't fault the staff as they were very helpful.

We went on a day trip to Tarragona which I would highly recommend as it has lots of roman ruins to see. Cambrils itself is also a lovely fishing village about 10 minutes away on the bus.

We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Salou on holiday.

" This was a pretty little hotel just... "

This was a pretty little hotel just across the road from a fabulous beach. The rooms were bigger than I thought we’d end up with for the price we paid. There was even a small balcony, which I really enjoyed. The rooms were warm, air-conditioning never works the way you want it to in Spain!

Transportation links in the area are impressive. You can get to Port Adventura for a couple of Euros from the bus stop across the street. If you’re feeling adventurous, busses go to nearby Tarragona (where there are Roman ruins), or Barcelona.
The hotel was very lively, and would suit almost anyone. There was always evening entertainment at the bar. The staff spoke reasonable English, which always helps!

This was a reasonable hotel, and we enjoyed our stay.

" As this was the first week of the... "

As this was the first week of the season the hotel and resort was very quiet, although the rooms were small they were very clean and well kept.
<br><br>
The food was excellent and well presented. We found the trips with the rep were very expensive ,you can make your own way to Venice by bus and waterbus for a fraction of the cost of their trips.
<br><br>
The only complaint we had was that you are charged e2.50 a day for a sun bed around the pool, this is with towel. The deck chairs on the beach are free.

" The actual hotel was clean and well... "

The actual hotel was clean and well kept in general. We were on the forth floor which looked, along with the third floor, to have been recently modernised. It had been painted and the fitted wardrobe and drawers were new. I felt quite happy using them to store clothing!

The bathroom was also in good condition and I was happy for the kids to touch anything which makes a change!

The room was cleaned daily with clean sheets every day. The kids beds were stored under the actual beds and were fine although once they were both out the room was a bit crowded.

Our room was at the back of the hotel which had no other buildings behind it. Unfortunately it did have a railway line! No problem from a safety point of view as there was a solid wall between it and the hotel but it could be noisy. It actually didn’t bother us too much (and we come from a very small quiet village) and the kids slept through the early morning trains but it might be a problem for some.

The food unfortunately was not good and did Spain a dis-service. Breakfast was ok and edible but dinners were worse than the worst canteen style of catering. Very poorly presented and questionable although we didn’t suffer any ill effects. If you get a good deal on the hotel I would view it as B and B only!

There was entertainment on but we didn’t see It.

The bus stop is right outside the hotel which will take you to Port Adventura and alla the local places. Just ask the bus driver if your not sure and he’ll say if it’s the right one.

You can also purchase tickets to go to Barcelona on the bus. It was fine but took nearly three hours to get there, did not stop at Catalunya Plaza as all the guide books say that all buses do and if you do not go on their tour, they are not too helpful. If you rejoin the bus after the magic fountain display, it leaves from in front of the Hotel Plaza, in the Plaza Espana _they forgot to tell us that bit and we missed it!

The beaches are good. Raked daily , clean and flat, sea seemed clean and the kids really enjoyed it. Promenade is lovely, palm trees, well lit and paved. No real atmosphere or culture to the place but was a good low key holiday.

Heard some very bad comments on the flight home though so check out hotels well!

To get from the airport to the hotel there is a booth at baggage reclaim advertising to take you to your hotel for 9.45 Euro return. We used it and it was good - took us to the hotel and then picked us up again for the return flight. The taxi costs about 30 Euro each way.

" Lovely big hotel with a large bar and... "

Lovely big hotel with a large bar and a medium size pool which was lovely and clean and usually pretty quiet.
<br><Br>
The rooms were a little on the small side (there was 4 of us in one with 4 single beds) and the bathroom was great having both a shower and a bath and it was well lit. It had a small balcony - we still managed to six people seated on it! The maid service was excellent - clean towels every day and even clean sheets and we were only there for a week. Generally quiet in the evenings but we weren’t in much anyway.
<br><Br>
Cesar Augustus is the sister hotel of the Augustus which is directly across the street. It’s huge and has a lovely swimming pool right on the beach which we could use. It was full of Spanish people and the entertainment was geared mainly for them so we felt lucky we were in the quieter of the two hotels.
<br><Br>
We had breakfast and evening meals. Breakfast was good if a bit repetitive and we felt that they did not cater for British tourists. Same with the evening meal so if you have fussy kids, it may be a problem. Also evening meal was served late - from 8pm - so we ate out a few times at a great pub right across the street.
<br><Br>
Beach is literally 2 minutes walk but you do have to cross a very busy street to get there so watch the kiddies. A two minute walk in the Salou direction took you to the bus stop and street train and it took about 10 minutes to get into the heart of Salou. Cambills is a bit quiet but for families or couples there are pubs - British pubs with good food and entertainment.
<br><Br>
We had a brilliant time there and I would definitely go back. Something for everyone!

" We paid only £100 per person for 1... "

We paid only £100 per person for 1 week’s half board accommodation in this hotel and so were a little worried about what it would be like. The room we were given when we arrived was directly overlooking an extremely busy and noisy train track. The noise was so deafening during the night that it frightened both of my young children and kept them awake. In the morning we complained to reception and they had another room ready for us within an hour. This overlooked the swimming pool and was very nice. The only complaints I would have is that the four of us (2 adults and 2 children) all had to share one room, so we were slightly cramped!
The air conditioning is also of very little use so we had to keep the doors to the balcony open to keep cool.
The hotel is very clean and we all thought the food was very nice. Every day was different and had a variety of choices catering for English people. Entertainment in the hotel is very poor and not for English people. The swimming pool was empty most days and so loungers were always available. The beach is just across the road and also very clean and not particularly busy. Port Aventura was about 10 minutes away by car. We hired a car but parking near the hotel was extremely difficult.
Overall we were surprised at what we got for the small amount of money we paid.
