DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL.
the staff are very rude and everything there is very basic and horrible. On our first night out we came back and got kicked out. They threatened to strangle/hit/punch/slap me and a few of my friends, i got spat in the face by the boss who you will notice who sits on a chair all day with a fan and does nothing. the next morning they acused us of doing it and chucked us out threw all our stuff and gave us 20 minutes to get out. Also these 6 boys that were also on our flight and in our hotel got kicked out the next day. Their buisness is all family ran so they pretty much gang up you a lot.
DO NOT GO HERE!.. there are plenty of other nice hotels and apartments. 2wentys helped us out and we got nice apartments with three different rooms... not one! with air con, fridge, ketel etc.. illios at the help bar!

I went with Miss eastwood on this holiday.
if you go 2 malia, DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL.
we werent the only people that got kicked out of the hotel, some other boys we met on the plane got chucked out for stealing sumthing that they didnt.
Illios was definately the best, this place is full of crazy greek women with long armpit hair that threatened to strangle me and all my friends.
possibly one the the scariest days of my life.
dont go there.. thery dont deserve your money!!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!
it is a prison hell hole! me and six friends went to malia holidays, i had read all of these reviews before we went and i couldnt wait to get out there, we were there for two days (not even full days may i add) and we got kicked out. My friend was spat in the face by the old man who owns the place and then in the morning accussed of hitting/kicking and punching him?
20 greek ladys chased us to our room and nearly hit my friend. It was one of the scariest moments i have experianced, we all packed as quick as we could and go out. The pool is lovely, but thats about all the praise il give it, the rooms are tiny and very basic, we went with first choice who did nothing about us getting kicked out but luckily 2wenties helped us out and took us under their wings!
If you want to stay in malia and have a good time go to Illios apartments, (The Help Bar) its brilliant, friendly and has a good croud, its situated right in the middle of the strip.

Malia itself is young and lively, fab restaurants bars & clubs, we met loads of great people and had an amazing holiday.
ACCOMODATION was extremely basic with no air con, no fridge & only 1 plug point (the other is SOLEY for the fridge which is expensive to rent). SAFE IS NOT in room situated at the reception desk right at the door where anybody could see what you had in the safe.
RECEPTION staff- beware of pregnant 'lady' very rude and better at English than she would have you believe! She went through our beach bags on the last day at the reception area when were getting money from the safe.
BARMAN!! Very unpleasant and made rude remarks about appearance and also was unwelcoming, intimidating and deliberately tried to short change us and was not happy when we highlighted this to him he became quite aggressive. Night-time/early morning reception man- Vangellies- although has a comedic appearance and can seem friendly he, along with security (see below) made us feel like naughty school girls, saying things like 'no jiggy jiggy' when we walked back in with our neighbours AND when alone as if we going to deliberatley find guys to sleep with, which they had absolutely no reason to think this. He also made rude guestures towards us making us feel uncomfortable.
SECURITY -absolutely shocking used every opportunity to touch us also followed us to our room and let themselves into our rooms to ensure we were alone. Stopped our male neighbours coming anywhere near our room even though we all became good friends. We were treated like children and felt that we were at boarding school even though we were all aged 23-25!! also, the sign on the back of the door states that 'parties are allowed as long as not too loud and only with other hotel guests'. We did not at any time even attempt to bring outside guests in, nor did we have any music playing when we tried to have a drink back at our rooms with friends after being out.Security constantly would come in and send people away putting room numbers in a notepad! Felt quite threatened by his truncheon/torch which he carried everywhere like he was a member of the riot police!!!
Although pool bar staff and receptionist with long dark hair were pleasant and the pool is nice as well as the hotels appearance and central location being handy we would not reccommend this hotel. Malia is well known for being a young, lively party resort and therefore we did not expect this family run business to be so strict when we were led to believe it was an ideal location for people who want to get the sun and party all night.

MALIA ITSELF :)
i recently visited malia for 2 weeks just me and my cousin!
we had the best holiday ever... and would definatly go back, the place itself is amazing and great for all the party animals out there, some fantastic places to eat, and of course the exciting nightlife.
LOCATION
the hotel is located in the perfect area, being at the top of the strip, this means you can work your way down and get to disocver all of the great bars and clubs, there is a supermarket close by which is handy for a quick snack, cheap drinks, and other last minute buys.
POOL
the hotel has its ups and downs, firstly i would like to say that the pool is proberbly the best in malia, you will notice this as u walk downt he strip and see other hotels that have there pools practically located on the pavement, ours is enclosed from randomers strolling past, and is of a great size, there is plenty of sunbeds with plenty of room. the pool bar produces good snacks and of course all alcohol and the pool lady is lovely... she is definatly worth the mention.
HOTEL BAR/BARMAN
the barman in the hotel is lovely we re-named him bob as every time he toldus his name we were to drunk to remember it... he can be overlly flirty sometimes but nevermind, bob allowed us to go behind the bar, change the music to watever we liked and have it as loud as we liked, we also had aa 3 day drinking competition with him, of course i won 2 out of 3 but we had many drinks and many shots from him and he charged us 7euro, he is a gud laugh and it is worth having an hour with him jus before going out, i never left the hotel sober :)
ROOMS
the rooms themselves were very basic, everything in there looked like it could have appeared on ANTIQUE ROADSHOW but nevermind, they have one dressing table with decent lite to do your makeup so we took down the bathroom mirror and wedged it inbetween the beds which worked, although we had to be very careful about gettin makeup on the sheets as it has a price list posted on the back of the doors telling you about what charges will be made if anything is damaged, the extent the go to is pathetic, but fortunatly we flipped the sheets over and never got caught or charged haha!
BATHROOM
the shower has no curtain and the bathroom is like a swimming pool after it has been used!
CLEANERS
the cleaners change ur towels more a less every day but often we work up to a greek woman in our room... manors and being polite is not very recgonised there.
AIRCON
the rooms are BOILING definatly would reccomend air con as on our 2nd week we moved rooms a fan just wasnt enough!
SECURITY, RECEPTIONISTS (THE RULES)
the hotel is family run, the 2 ladies at reception are quite decent, but the man at the reception and the security guard are stuck up and perverted... they WILL charge you 30euro to have enibody who doesnt stay within in the hotel come and stay, and the security guard finds himslef against the male and females being in the same room, we made friends with our neighbours (alex, dave, jamie and lee promised i would mention u), a great bunch of guys and we had to sneak them in for a few drinks... his name is john and he walks around with a big black torch shining it on everybodys balcony, and barjing in enibodys room when he feels like it, it got to the point wer he would walk us up to our room or chase us around the hotel wen we came in as he new our tactics!! we did nothing wrong but want to make friends, unfortunatly big bad john wouldnt accept that! nobody has a gud word to say about him, but if you plan things carefully u can get around him! he even got a guy downstares from us arrested accusing him of having fake money which wasnt true just because they had had an argument! not a nice guy!
PERSONAL OPINIONS
the hotel is family run and you do not have a leg to stand on there, u will never win the argument, so keep ur money safe, and ur expensive possesions hidden just incase be aware that although the hotle itslef is proberbly one of the largest and nicest the rules and regulations would remind u of something like a boarding school!
Malia is by far the best holiday i have ever been on i am 100% going back next year it is amazing... but i do reccomend to think twice about whether u would like to be treated like a child! becuase this is what you will receive from this hotel!
i rated it 5 because it has some good things and some bad its upto u to decide if you want the nice hotel and pool with the bad rules and regulations or a laid back hotel with dirty rooms and crap pool!
cya next year malia xxx

first of all malia was the best holiday ive ever been on.
but anyway im quite a fussy person when it comes to hotels and i can actually say that this hotel was really good.
The bed covers and towels are suppost to be changed every 3days but we found our changed nearly everyday.!
Our room was pretty basic but it was clean and tidy so i wasnt too botherd. Although we did find a cockroach in our room :(
the bathroom is a bit horrible tho, for anyone that hasnt been to greece before like me- they dont have shower curtains so your bathroom sort of turns into one big water room which was very annoying and can get dirty- but it dries quite quickly.
To be honest you find yourself not spending much time in your room- your use it to sleep and get ready in- other than that your just out and about.!!
The pool was really nice aswell, and from the others we saw it looked the best in malia. It was really big and you didnt find yourself fighting for the sunbeds. The pool bar was good too, it had loads of food and drinks and it was reasonable priced.
But if you want some water go across the road to the Spar--> 1.5l= 29 cent:), whereas the hotel is a euro for a little bottle.!
The hotel had the best location aswell- right at the start of the strip so when you want to go to bed you dont have the noise but its but its about a 5min walk to the main nightlife and about 10 to the beach (when your not drunk that is).
But we did find this hotel had some faults to it-
1) the bathroom
2)the security guard- we had so many problems with him and literally made us and some people we met in the hotel want to leave. He really was against boys and girls being in the same room together. We met some lads in the hotel but everytime we would go into their room this big giant man with a huge metal torch in his hand would bang the door down and scream at us telling us to go back to our rooms. It was really annoying and ruined it.! The hotel also charges you 30euros to bring other people back to the hotel.!!
3)the hotel charges you for everything ie. if you brake something or are sick everywhere they will charge you. You can find a list of charges on the back of your door. This didnt really affect us as but if your a clumsy person this hotels not for you..
4)The breakfast- if you can even call it that, its crap. We got up for it once but never again. Ham, cheese slices, hard boiled eggs and corn flakes was literally all they had.!
Other than that though the hotel was great and did look like the best hotel on the strip that we saw so deffo go to it.!!

Got home last night and I'm so glad we chose Malia Holidays Hotel, everything about it was perfect. When we turned up in our coach all we saw was a shabby little sign and we were gutted, but when we got to our rooms it was fantastic.
There were 10 of us, so we had 5 rooms situated all on the groud floor, really close to each other. My room backed out onto the grass terrace which was literally 5 seconds away from the pool.
The pool was, from the looks of other pools, the biggest one in malia. The pool bar was amazing, and although 5 euros for a cocktail, theres more than enough alcohol in it! The pool bar lady was so lovely! Really nice, spoke really good english and on our last day gave us all our drinks for free. I will say watch our for the pool boy, he'll pick up anything and everything, sun cream, full bottles of water, cigarettes etc. Keep a close eye on him and make yourself clear as he doesnt speak very good english.
Yanis (Daddy as we nicknamed him) the barman in the hotel was also very lovely, and even let our girls behind the bar to help him out pouring drinks. Anyone who goes out there take him some magicool as he works so hard and gets well hot, bless him. John, the security guard we were a bit apprehensive about as loads of reviews said he was horrible, but we soon discovered unless you give him reason to be mean, he's adorable. He even let us play with his torch :)
They've very strict about bringing people back to the hotel and boys and girls gonig in each others room, but they have a right to be. One night a mate brought a boy back to the hotel and he broke a chair, so she had to pay 30euros. Apart from that we paid no other money. We did admittedly get the towels and sheets a bit early, but didn't get charged for new ones. And we found we didn't need any aircon or safety deposit boxes. One night my room mate left our room wide open and went out. The room msut have been open for an hour or so. Nothing was nicked despite purses and phones being out. I did lock all my money in my suitcase though.
As for the breakfast I was never awake for it, but a few mates of mine said it was crap. Do a well nice english breakfast at the bar though. If we come to Malia again next year, we're gonig to stay at Malia Holidays again as it was such a nice friendly place to stay.

i have just returned from a week at this hotel and cant xpress what an amazing time me and my 10 friends had. the staff were all very friendly and helpful despite some language barriers.
the location of the hotel is right at the top of the strip so no noise but the first bar is located about 100 feet away, so no need for taxis. we also found that although the beach was a bit of a walk away there was no need for us to hire quad bikes as everything we needed was walking distance.
we went in july and had no need for fans or air conditioning, at night the rooms were cool enough to sleep in.
watch outfor xtra charges, they can catchyou with things such as make up on the towels or sheets.
the security guard was nothing but lovely to me and all my friends we had no trouble. yan, the bar man in the evening is a legend, spend some time there before you go out. the lady at the pool bar was also really lovely, the snacks served there were also really tasty.
all in all i would definatly go back and recommend if you are looking for a wicked holiday with mates.

I stayed at malia Holidays Hotel in 2006 during the world cup the atmosphere was buzzing.
Everyone at the hotel were friendly enough, slight language barrier with some of the staff there as its a family run hotel they are all Greek. I asked for a bandage as i'd drunkly fell from somewhere or something and they gave me a dressing bandage lol. Also while we were there we were unable to draw from the cash machine which is abit of a walk away to start with, the reps were useless and kept us hanging around waitin for them for hours our parent sent money to us through the operaters which they sent to the wrong place and they didn't turn up when they were meant to. The manager of the hotel was lovely she really sympathised with our situation and actually lent us money when we were down to our last 10Euros untill the Reps sorted out the mess.
We left the hotel with out paying any charges but a few people we met there broke a curtain pole and through there friends bedding from the balcony, which they were charged 60Euros for, so be carefull not to let your friends play practical jokes like that or you will be charged. The security Guard was quite intimidating if your messing around and keeping people awake, he will shine a touch into your window to tell you to shut up, but if your fairly well behaved their very pleasent towards you.
The Beach, everyone says its not that far away but it took us a good 20mins to get there then we had to pay, its definately worth hiring a quad to cruise around on, there great fun and theres loads of open country roads, but be aware that there are alot of motorcycles and Quads alot of accidents there. will needs someone with a sensible head to deligate as driver.
Defo go to the Red Lion at the bottom of the strip, it has the best sunday carvery EVER!!
ENJOY!!!

Im only giving it a 3 because it had a nice pool! Allll the staff are Greek, and we were four 18 year old girls they thought they could take advantage of us, i lost my key and they charged me 50 euros for a new 1. My friend got fake tan on a towel and they made us pay 20 euros, i refused to pay but they said they would kick us out if we didnt. Our room didnt have air conditioning and the best they could give us was a fan! Our balcony looked onto a wall! Our room was sooo tiny, 2 of us could only just move in it! The security guard was a pervert, and kept shining his torch into our room when we were getting changed, some girls we met even moved hotels because of this! Also we made alot of friends in the hotel and wanted to drink with them before we went out but he would kick us out of the room, + if your single, your not allowed to bring anyone back to the hotel, they make sure of this! It was still the best holiday ever though, the hotel was good for meeting people! Some of our friends were lucky and had nyce rooms with sofas and stuff, so we got tha short straw i guess. It was at a good position! We paid 400 for 2 weeks, this was too much for this hotel! ALSO my friend had money stolen from the room, she thinks. Malia is soooooo good though! on the beach dont get caught out and buy a weekly subscription for sunbeds, its a con! just buy them daily! Go to Malia, but dont stay here!

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LAST FEW REPORTS.... THEY ARE TALKING RUBBISH THEY CAME AS A GROUP....
all the staff in this hotel are friendly if you treat them with respect..... they were all friendly with us the pool bar lady is lovely and so are the 2 receptionists!! It was one euro a bottle of water at the reception and after the first week the receptionist gave us free water which was nice...
ok i agree the security at night are scary at first but once you get to no them and dont mess around and are nice to them they get to like you... and after all it is a family run business and they are security protecting the hotel from dickheads!! In fact the security used to laugh at us gettin drunk before we went out and even got in a few of our photos... They are strict with bringin people back to your rooms at night they charge you 30 euros which isnt good but then this is greek law some hotels dont even let you bring people back...
The pool bar serves nice food during the day and the pool is the best in malia its big and clean... the rooms are pretty basic but clean but thats all you need on a holiday cos ur never in ur room anyway apart from a few hours sleepin... to be honest the breakfast isnt good but who ever gets up for breakfast on holidays..
overall this hotel is excellent and i would recommend it and 95% of the people we talked to thought it was good! However most people writing these reports love to complain and we were there when thos '6 boys were kicked out' and they were not innocent... all the people stayin at the hotel were happy to see them leave because they were trouble!!
Malia itself is brilliant great nightlife, good food and and an excellent atmosphere!! Furthermore malia is not like what the papers say beacuse we were ther for 2 weeks and we didnt see one fight and there wasnt any more slags in Malia than there is back home...
