Las Terrazas in Playa Santa Maria Del Mar is overlooking a long sandy, palm tree beach.
The apartments themselves are old and appear to have been refurbished on the cheap, bead linen is worn, panes of glass cracked, leaking windows etc, having said that they do have microware, toaster, fridge aircon etc (which is a luxury in Cuba).
There are very few facilities in the area a couple of very poorly stocked shops (bread appears to be a luxury) and a few state run restaurants. To eat , ask the taxi driver for a good paladar, (privately owned restaurants).
Cuba was an excellent experience, but don’t expect too much in the way of comforts and service.

If your looking for the WOW factor, look elsewhere... I've travelled for over 20 years to many countries and resorts, I have a hard time believing they actually charge people to stay here. Nothing is safe in your room, the wall safe has no door, the main entrance door would not lock, theft from staff, building was falling apart, broken toilet seat, food was horrible, the beach charged you to use their chairs. Not recommended to anyone even if you can ruff it because the price is so cheap. The only thing I can honestly say that I enjoyed was the beach.. not the beach itself as its covered in litter , beach is shared with locals and they enjoy littering. The water had NO boat traffic on it, so you where safe to swim way out and enjoy snorkelling the reefs. Please note if travelling Jan or Feb, this is jellyfish season there. Portugese man of war are hard to see and if stung can scar you for life. I will not be ever back to this resort or advise anyone to go. We did meet great people from Windsor Ont, who where also shocked by the absent WOW factor. We are from NB Canada and would advise any future travellers to go elsewhere in Cuba or to another south destination. See you on the beaches sometime soon.
