Teen room was xboxes playstations in which you had to pay so many dollors an hour (joke)advertised pool tables there was only one which was torn1 table tennis table again advertised tables stage shows very repetive ok if only ther for long weekend as get repeated every 4 days.kids club was good.(4)electics.well wher do i start you will be ok if u do not mind wiring things together to get them working E.G air hockey in teen room mind u they did fix that in the end juzzcuziyou had to wire to get going again they did fix it after twice pointing it out to mangament. Pulling plugs out the whole socket comes away. Lights in pool kept floating out may not been high voltage but with wires hanging we see some kid catch foot in one easily done. Wa;lking round sight ground light lots of wire showing we do have pics of all these things
5 water sports not much paddle boats only one rest broken cannoes plenty of them sail boats only went out if no wind 2 of them only ever see on going when they went out didnt open til 10Holiday was a totle let dowm never done all inclisvive before and will not again.as for thomas cook they are saying they will not compensate any thing.electric are up to standared joke about toursrip off we went dolphin cove told it was all day well u got 4 hours there for 600 dollars 2 swim 2 entrance fees. then we decided to go out in cabs it was lot cheaper 130 dollars for day he will take u anywhere and wait for you done this couple times much better good days out just remember to take plenty of money although u shouldnt need it reall but hotel so poor we need to get of sight good job we had enough money.

" Room Hopping "

Arriving at the hotel we were shown to our room which was suppose to have a "sea view", however that was completely obstructed by overgrown palm trees, so we moved to another room which had a great view. Then during the night we found ourselves next to the screaming baby from hell-not the baby's fault as it was teething-next day we were moved again-this time to a ground floor room a way from any noise and directly opposite the Adult pool with swim-up bar-brilliant for 12 days-loved the hotel, but not worthy of its 4 star rating. On our last but one night-enroute to the loo, I stepped into 6 inches of water-there had been a burst pipe in the corridor and it flooded into our room. We were moved yet again!! To say the least we had a good laugh around the bars as to which room we were in then-the First Choice Reps I imagine were sick to death of us complaining, but tey did their best in what was then a run-down hotel that needed modernisation. 3 stars or less suit it now. PS-We loved the Jamaican people especially when we visited a local infant school - the children were lovely. If you go there take plenty of stationery - good for giving as presents to staff etc.

Advice: Watch out for hotel locations-most on flight path of planes-can be very noisy.

Activities: Visiting town churches and schools. Great music in bars and clubs & on-street corners!

Good for: Beach

" NEVER AGAIN "

Our fourth time there. What a mess and disapointment. Food was POOR Room was FILTHY Staff didn't care about anything. New management is cutting back guest comfort to save money and boy does it show. THIS IS NO LONGER a part of THE HOLIDAY INN CHAIN. It is privatly owned and apparently the deal with Holiday Inn was to be able to keep and use the Holiday Inn name. So called entertainment was not condusive to the tropics, music at supper was so loud we had to leave. Special upstairs restaurant is a let down. I will tell my travel agent here in Massachusetts NOT TO SEND ANYONE THERE. It was so bad I can't find the words. Please trust me on this one. DON'T SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO SPEND A WEEK IN A GHETTO. Couldn't wait to come home. Wasted almost $3000.00 we saved all year to stay in a dump.

" NOISIEST HOTEL THAT WE HAVE EVER BEEN... "

NOISIEST HOTEL THAT WE HAVE EVER BEEN TO. THE RESTAURANT ( CANTEEN ) IS SO NOISY YOU CANNOT HEAR YOUSELF THINK. FOOD WAS ACCEPTABLE. PROBALY A GREAT HOTEL FOR FAMILIES NOT FOR COUPLES WHO WANT TO RELAX. BEACH VERY DISSAPOINTING SECTIONED INTO SMALL BAYS AND LITTERED WITH HIDDEN OBJECT. CUT TOE ON PIECE OF METAL BURIED IN SAND. SEA VERY SHALLOW AND NOT VERY CLEAN LOTS OF WEED. CONFINED TO HOTEL UNLESS YOU PAY 25 US DOLLARS EACH WAY TO GO TO MONTEGO BAY TOWN I WOULDN'T BOTHER.IF YOU DO GO OUT FOR THE DAY DO NOT EXPECT YOUR ROOMS TO BE CLEANED WHEN YOU GET BACK. IT WAS 5-30 - 6-30 BEFORE OUR ROOM WAS CLEANED AND WE WERE NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. GOT BETTER AFTER COMLAINT. ALL IN ALL A VERY DISAPOINTING HOTEL AND RESORT/

" Well what can I say, lovely location,... "

Well what can I say, lovely location, lovely hotel, great service, amazing holiday.

Definitely deserves more than 3 stars!

Food is lovely, constantly being freshly cooked, can't beat breakfast, the omelettes are amazing, choose the ingredients and they cook them for you!

So much choice and variety at every meal, pools are clean and well maintained, great for kids, families and honeymooners, seen a few weddings there.

Excursions are great, swim with the dolphins it’s a must, the rum tour, Dunns River falls, YS falls, black river, horseback riding in the sea, they are all fab!

Kids pool, and an adults pool, snack hut, jerk chicken hut, pizza and ice-cream hut all on the resort, beauty salon, hair braiding (don’t have it done on site, go to the woman called Joyce who stands by the little island in the sea, she'll do it you for half the price!!).

Beach towels are provided for free at the beach towel hut.

Sheets and towels are changed every day, staff are more than happy to help.

Entertainment staff work their butts off.

Jamaica is beautiful, if you are considering going here, don't consider, just book it! You won’t regret it!

19 of us went of all ages, kids, teenagers, and adults and every single one of us enjoyed it and would go back tomorrow!

Don’t think about it, book it! Great resort, it’s huge!

" Just read review by Mrs S Jones. We... "

Just read review by Mrs S Jones. We were also there those weeks of the reggae festival. The people that were probably smoking weed were the stars of the festival namely Elephant Man and others.

It was great meeting them and they took time out to talk to us, which must get pretty tedious! We saw it done but it was discrete. You are in Jamaica and it is acceptable there! We did not see any condoms but then we did not go looking for them!

Rooms were fine nothing wrong with ours! We had two adjoining. Food was fantastic could not fault it I put on half a stone. My veggie sis in law loved the fish served at the sea breeze restaurant.

We took our five year old she had a ball. Kids club brill, available from morn til about 9 o clock on evening. In my opinion Mrs Jones gave this hotel a very unfair review and would put people off going there. Spain it aint, it is the Caribbean!

I must sound like I have a financial interest in this place, not at all, just need to put my opinion. Excellent Place!

AMAZING! The planes were brill! Your own TV and 4 course meals. Immigrations was really busy because of cricket. I can not fault the hotel except for the food. I only ate breakfast and lunch there and had pancakes every morning.

When I woke up I had a slice of watermelon and ice water waiting for me. Refreshing or what! Dunns River was great but long trip there.

" Rooms very small unless you upgrade.... "

Rooms very small unless you upgrade. Poor quality furnishing, main door to accom had to be slammed shut so very noisy at night.

Whilst we where there a reggae festival was held at Montego Bay so the hotel was very busy with local people smoking weed also condoms in bushes in the morning so not your average family complex. Evening entertainment very basic 2 weeks of hip grinding gets very boring.

We went for the PADI diving school but we only dived once because we felt unsafe with them and they packed up and left the hotel in our second week. Hotel staff friendly tour rep Audrey very nice food nice pool and Jacuzzi greasy and never cleaned properly whilst we where there.

" My family has travelled to the... "

My family has travelled to the Holiday Inn Sunspree for 30+ years. My mother took my brother and I there every February since I can remember. The service we receive there has ALWAYS been impeccable. The wait staff in the dining area takes VERY good care of us. The food has always been very good. The beaches are well groomed every day. Drinks flow as freely as you can consume them. The rooms perfectly suit our needs (they are beach rooms).

When travelling to Jamaica you must remember to take care of your wait staff, beach staff, bar staff, etc, if you want them to take care of you. You must remember this is an impoverished country. When snotty Europeans come and think everything and everyone should cater to them, and they don't have to tip, it leaves a bad taste in some natives mouths. Also, perhaps a reason why the food seems to cater to Americans and not Europeans is because Jamaica is far closer to the US. Perhaps because better than 50% of the visitors are American.

My overall view is, if you want to spend ALOT of money for a fancy hotel you should go two miles up the road to the Half Moon. If you want to be just a bit more thrifty go to the Holiday Inn. Along with saving money you will enjoy good food, good entertainment and much more.

As far as the shopping across the street. Its like anywhere else in Jamaica. You will be hounded, they will try to sell you anything, and they will be persistent. If you don't want this sort of experience than you shouldn't go to Jamaica, this is what happens everywhere that is not in a controlled environment.

" I booked a 2 week holiday as a... "

I booked a 2 week holiday as a surprise for my partners 40th birthday at the renaissance Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios in July 2004 to travel on 9th January 2005.

The day before xmas eve I received a letter to say that due to refurbishment the hotel I booked was not available. Due to the fact that i had booked the time off work and arranged for my animals to be looked after and had waited and looked forward to this holiday for numerous months we agreed to Airtours change of hotel.

As they said it was off the same standard. Upon arriving at Manchester airport we were told that we were stopping off at Gatwick to pick some people up (as if they were stopping a bus) I was not told this when i booked, as if I had I would have flown from Gatwick as I live in the midlands.

The air crew on the way out were most unhelpful, there was no duty free cigarettes on board. Now to the hotel, the mini golf course was a building site, our trip to Kingston town was cancelled about 7 seven hours before we were due to get up to go, the jewellery shop below our room was refurbed with disc saws still being used at nine o’clock at night. After which they proceeded to do work on a bridge which was outside our room

And the repair the roof of our block, I expected to be able to sit on my balcony and enjoy a leisurely drink not watch debris falling past the balcony. The main bar in the hotel was shut for 2 days and nights and then one night about midnightish they proceeded to start kangooing the restaurant/kitchen floor. The disco in the hotel had the foulest smell i have ever come across so bad we only had one drink in there and did not

Even manage to finish that. The a la carte restaurants were pre-bookable but however early you got up they were still always booked up, although flight crews staying at the hotel always seemed to be able to get a table.

I had a problem with my credit card (although I had told the company before that it would be used in Jamaica) my card was stopped and I needed to contact my credit card company to make sure it had not been used by anybody else it took me all day to get the hotel to let me use a phone, I did not expect to use the phone free of charge I was willing to pay and over the odds at that.

The food all during the holiday was much of muchness (disguised chicken every night) the outside grill bar smelt constantly off stale chip fat. The staff were miserable and reluctant to serve you, I did stay at this hotel a few years ago and the staff then were the nicest and friendliest people i have ever met, not the case any more. To cap it all we were delayed at the airport on our way back as they did not have a crew to man the plane and had to fly one in from Florida, who I will say were very nice, the one air hostess told us she refuses to stop at the holiday inn Montego Bay. They manage to leave my partners luggage at Gatwick airport when we were landing at Manchester.

I wrote to Airtours and complained. On the renaissance Jamaica Grande website it stated that the hotel would close at the end of august 2005 and reopen at the end of march 2006, and Airtours decided to tell me just over 2 weeks before I was due to depart. That sums it up. This was supposed to be a holiday off a lifetime, and was my partners dream destination which Airtours managed to ruin.

Having spoken to people who stayed at my originally booked hotel in Ochos Rios I am sure we would have had the holiday off a life time. Although I did receive some compensation from Airtours it does not replace somebody’s dream.

" Travelled with my husband and twin... "

Travelled with my husband and twin 13yr old boys, had a fantastic holiday at a lovely hotel and resort. The staff could not have been more helpful and attentive. And nothing was too much trouble. The food was good with plenty of choice and the a la carte restaurants were excellent (of which there were three). Rooms were clean and of ample size. There were plenty of activities both for the adults and children. We are looking to go back again next year, and have recommended the hotel and resort to all our friends and family. P.S. we have never returned to a same hotel before, so this will be a first for us.

" Just returned back from holiday inn... "

Just returned back from holiday inn Sunspree. If you are Americans and Canadian this place definitely caters for you! There is nothing English about the resort. Meals were American, they even started major construction work once the Americans and Canadians left leaving us English to put up with it!

Entertainment was not bad. Half of the facilities were closed, dust and construction workers all over the place. The staff were awful especially the restaurant staff. If you plan to go in the next two weeks please check with the your operator and make sure they have finished the drainage work and block paving work that they started on the 2nd Jan!!!!!!!! And still doing on the 15th jan2006

Would never go back to the Sunspree ever again not even for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
