A South Seas Paradise
from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is the most beautiful kept secret in orlando. Some people were turned off because the hotel is a conference hotel and very large but I think that works to your vacation experience. The grounds were so georgous. At night by pool side, they played a movie on a large screen TV. The lobby is so beautiful and tranquil. You really feel like you are in the south seas. We have stayed at the hard Rock too and although it is a beautiful hotel, it was very loud 24 hrs. a day. Please anyone who is staying at this pacific paradise, dont miss the chance to dine at Chop Chop. Emeril's newest contibution to Universal Studios. The food as well as the atmoshpere is equally fantastic!!!! This hotel I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the finer things in life! What an amazing hotel & staff.
Definitely not Paradise on Earth

1) It all started when we checked in (my boyfriend and I in one room and my father and his girlfriend in another). The hotel switched the rooms. They programmed our room-key to link up with my father's reservation/credit card and vice versa. It wouldn't be such a horrible situation if my father hadn't paid more money for a water-view. I only paid for a standard room, but we were given rooms that were next to each other. My boyfriend and I were the ones with the water-view (if you could call a muddy lagoon a "water-view") and all my father and his girlfriend saw out of the window were palm trees. When we all tried to explain what was wrong to the employees, no one understood and eventually told us that they could not do anything and to call the Universal Vacation Packages whom we booked the vacation with. Finally, after arguing with multiple representatives at the Universal Vacations Packages, we managed to get a $99.99 credit on my father's credit card at the END of the vacation. 2) Not to mention, when we were taken to our room, the first thing we saw was a dirty washcloth on the floor. The bellhop threw the towel out in the hallway, where it sat until the next day. 3) There were dirty clothes left in one of the dressers from the previous people who had the room. We immediately threw out the clothes. 4) I, alike many other people, need some sort of "white-noise" while I'm sleeping. The bathroom in the room did not have an exhaust fan that I could turn on for noise during the night (okay, so I'm weird), so we called for a complimentary Sound Machine. After about 30 minutes, an employee brought us a Sound Machine. We discovered that the batteries were dead. We called the front desk and they said that they were send someone up with an AC adapter so we could plug it in the wall instead. After about another 30 minutes, a young man brought us a box full of batteries. When we asked if they had the AC adapter, he just shrugged and said, "I dunno" and left the room. 5) On our last night there, we returned from CityWalk to our hallway and there was an incredible stench of marijuana in the hallway. We called the front desk and they said they would take care of it. When we asked if anything was done about it, no one knew what we were talking about. Not a nice thing to have in the hallways where children are constantly present. 6) Other then those things, the hotel was very nicely decorated, but I am convinced that they used the money on the pretty polynesian fans and asian-themed tapestries rather then customer service training.
Completely Blown Away....

I was browsing around the reviews for The Royal Pacific and noticed there were SO many terrible reviews for the Royal Pacific. I thought to myself...."what hotel were these people staying at?". Universal has done an AMAZING job overall in Universal Orlando and their latest hotel, The Royal Pacific, does not dissapoint.Arriving mid-day after a four hour drive from Miami, we checked in without a hitch. No line to check in, everyone was polite and helpful, and the lobby was as beautiful of a lobby that I have ever seen. We requested to get a room on the top floor and sure enough they gave it to us without hesitating. The staff at Royal Pacific is equivelant to that of Disney's hotels. I didn't run into a grumpy face the entire weekend I was there. In fact, when I stayed at Disney's Port Orleans, which is comparable in price, they didn't make you feel like they were there to serve "you". Both hotels have great hospitality, but the Royal Pacific staff makes you feel special. On to the room. The room was great. Hand carved artwork was dazzling and the bedframe was top-notch. The entire room was well themed and well designed. We had a view of IOA's Incredible Hulk and it did not dissapoint. We always had enough towels and room service was quick and efficient. People complain about the $7 water, but EVERY hotel on the planet rips you off when you buy stuff in your room. This is common knowledge people. What I did get was a free bottle of wine. How's that for a free gift. Express checkout was quick and easy....we left without a single hitch. In this final paragraph, I am going to explain why Universal is the best destination to stay on-site. Universal's Express system is available to park guests. However, when staying on-site at any of Universal's resorts (including RP) you get UNLIMITED express access all day, every day. At Universal Studios we did not wait in a line over 5 minutes(!). Disney does NOT have offer this amenity to their on-site guests. The only thing they offer is early addis the distance to the parks. Once we parked in the Royal Pacific lot, our car didn't move. Everything in our wildest dreams was in walking distance....theme parks, clubs, restaurants, concerts, movie theaters, etc etc....WOW! Speaking of restaurants, located in the Royal Pacific is Emeril's Tchoup Choup. What an experience. I have had the opportunity to eat in some of the finest restaurants in Manhattan, yet Tchoup Choup is high on my list of my favorite restaurants. The service was the best service I have ever experienced in a restaurants, period. EVERY dish at EVERY table is served at the SAME time. I watched the staff do it at every table and they did it perfect every time, not one mess up. Our waiter and bus boy both started conversations and it didn't seem "forced" or "fake". The food was amazing and decor was out of this world. It can be pricey for some, but in comparison to other restaurants in its class, it is a bargain. It isn't the place to get hamburgers. But you do get some great food at a relatively great price. If your looking for one "nice" restaurant when you attend Universal Orlando, look no further. Tchoup Choup is the place to be.Finally, I have reached my conclusion. I cannot begin to describe to you how much I enjoy staying onsite at Universal Orlando. As you can see, I had nothing but positive experiences. I am so impressed with how everything is run, I am booked to go back to the Royal Pacific in late June. If you're looking for a great deal on a four star hotel, the choice is simple: The Royal pacific. Don't take my word though, go "live the adventure" and "ride the movies" yourself.

We stayed at the Royal Pacific Resort the firs week of April 2003. My husband had a convention there. From the time we checked in until we left we had a very pleasant stay. Staff at the check in and all the Maid service were great. Rooms are beautiful. The resort is very new just opened June of 2002.
Pet Paradise

We stayed at the Royal Pacific in August, 2002 and can't wait until we go back in May, 2003. The best part about it is that they allow pets on the property. We love our dog and couldn't bear going on a trip without him. The staff at the Royal Pacific were kind and did everything in their power to give us and our "kid" the time of our lives. Now, the only hotels we will stay at are the Universal Resorts. They know how to take care of the littlest guests in their hotels.

no longer a special day in paradise
from A TripAdvisor Member
Finally, we were getting away! Our third wedding anniversary and an opportunity to go somewhere scrumptiously romantic and exotic. The weekend was planned very carfully. I made our reservations through a AAA agent who guaranteed a lovely room on Club Level with a king size bed and jacuzzi. I did not disclose this to my husband until the very last minute. Yes, he was greatly surprised and it was extravagant, but we could not be together for our second anniversary so this was, indeed, very special. I knew the high standards set by Lowe - an outstanding reputation for customer service as well as impecable taste and comfort in accommodations. This was my expectation for our visit to the Royal Pacific. Upon my arrival, I was overwhelmed by the beauty. Soft music, a tropical paradise and immediate service. I was so excited as we entered the lobby. I felt as if I felt I was boarding a cruise ship! Orchids were everywhere and my surroundings were absolutely devine. We walked up to guest registration and introduced ourselves and informed the registrar we had reservations for Club level with a king size bed and jacuzzi. Immediately I began to feel uncomfortable as the woman assisting us collected her thoughts. She responded as graciously as possible that none of their rooms had a jacuzzi and we had been downgraded to the 6th floor. I was abolutely crushed by her words as my vision of a romantic weekend began to fade. Obviously the travel agent had erred with regard to the jacuzzi but we were never informed of the downgrade. We asked why we had been downgraded but no one could provide an answer. We were offered a room on the 6th floor with Club privileges. I spent several minutes trying to gather my thoughts and control my anger and disappointment. My husband and I finally agreed to take the room as it was 6:30 p.m. or so and I was too exhausted from working all day to return home. We were escorted with our luggage to our room shortly thereafter. The staff was very apologetic and sincere our anniversary celebration would no longer be what I had do looked forward to. Once inside our room, my husband knowing the great disappointment I felt, called the manager to see if there was anything that could be done to get a Club level room. He was very apologetic and, after spending some time researching our request, he returned our call offering us a room on Club Level with two queen size beds for Friday night and then moving us to a king room for Saturday night. We decided to move as we believed the upgrade ($100 difference in room price) would at least work toward salvaging the weekend. A wonderful gentleman arrived at our 6th floor room and promptly moved us to the 7th floor. Our baggage was placed in the room, we tipped the gentleman and closed the door. I sat looking at the room and realized the room was not larger and there was nothing that distinguished the room from the other one with one exception - we were in a room specifically designed for the physically handicapped. We now had no bath tub and water from the shower could drain all over the floor. The 6th floor room had a view of the swimming pool and now we were looking at the interstate. At that point I had had a glass of wine and just gave up! We decided to compensate with comfort food and left the room in search of a restaurant. The hotel, I beieve, had three or four restaurants. We could not get reservations for Emeralds new restaurant so we went to another in the hotel. We walked in and were seated. We waited, we waited, we waited. Fifteen minutes had passed and no one had waited on us. I must admit, at this point my emotions had been been saturated within and I just wanted to leave. And we did. I could go on for several more paragraphs discussing other situations at the hotel that should never have happened. The bottom line was we did not stay at what I believed was a Lowe resort.
Weekend Stay 7/26/02-7/28/02

My friends and I choose the Royal Pacific Hotel because it was the host hotel for a charity event that was in town. I agree with the others when they say that parking is scarce. It was like hitting the lottery to find a spot at some times of the day. The room was nice, but the placings of the mirrors could use redoing. One on the bathroom door and one over the sink are too close together. The food and drinks were good. Service was ok. My biggest problem was that my friend and I had two pairs of shoes stolen from our room. When I contacted the manager of the hotel, he did offer to reimburse me for new shoes. I didn't get another pair, but was pleased that the hotel offered. I would stay here again.
Goes above and beyond...

We checked in at 9:00 am on a Saturday... The staff at the Royal Pacific go above and beyond the call of duty! I had many requests (nail polish, chenille blanket, jewelry cleaner, curlers, etc) and they were able to satisfy each call! From the cabana boys at the pool to the water taxi driver, each and every employee we encountered was helpful, friendly, and accommodating! We loved the short walk to City Walk! I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for to be pampered!

This was our first stay at a Universal hotel and we weren't disappointed. From the drive up to the hotel we were wowed- the gardens were beautiful, the foyer spectacular and the staff friendly. The room was decorated to theme, was clean and not too small. The restaurants... more
