Staff very rude and unfriendly, food was cold at all meal times and not a varied choice.
Very noisy hotel and surrounding area.
No evening entertainment for British people.
Was not made to feel welcome at anytime however if we had been Spanish things might have been different.
Would not return or recommend this hotel to anyone.

Three rooms were booked with a request that we were close together. Two of our rooms were in separate buildings and the one remaining was smack in front of the evening entertainment. What a racket even with the patio doors closed. Great if you like the same Spanish music played constantly.
Two of the ladies on reception were very helpful however the blonde one was rude and never managed a smile once, she gave the impression she either hated her job or the English.
The manager at the restaurant was lovely, meet and greet every morning and evening. But the food was very poor. The same every morning and don't touch the orange juice unless you need a mega sugar overdose. The evening meals were worse make sure you check that the food is cooked properly my son bit into his burger and it was raw this happened on two separate evenings, we ate out after this.
The rooms are kept clean and the cleaners work hard and are polite. Would I stay at this hotel again NO. Even though the location was good, I am now looking at 4 and 5 star hotels only in Salou.

I have just returned from this holiday. The location of the hotel could not have been better placed as the surrounding area was full of bars, clubs, shops, restaurants etc, as such you would never complain of boredom.
However, the hotel was the absolute pits. From the moment the staff were aware that we were 'All Inclusive', all service, smiles & even just an acknowledgment that we were there, all disappeared.
The bar staff were, to be polite, the most miserable, inhospitable & rude people that I have ever met. I also noticed that the guys that were staying on a Full Board basis actually received some service (looking for tips).
The food was awful & often not well cooked. I wouldn't serve it to my dog! The swimming pools were of a good size & depth, however it was strictly forbidden to play any form of pool sports. Also, the grime around the tiles of the pool were 'inch' thick & the water began to show similar colourings as the dirt. It was quite apparent that this place had not been cleaned any time this century.
The rooms were 'ok' in size but the beds were simple camp beds so don’t expect a comfortable mattress to lay down upon. The entrance door was surrounded with broken tiles with sharp edges so take care where you walk & rub your hands. The bathroom was a sad similar story to that of the swimming pools - dirty, mouldy, cracked tiles, broken toilet seat etc.
We stayed on an All Inclusive basis, however the food was of such a poor quality & variety that we ate in there just twice. The surrounding area was full of restaurants where a 3 course meal would set you back under £15.
The evening entertainment was just dire; a so called snake charmer who just wrapped snakes around the necks of residents for an hour, & a Woody Allen lookalike 'wanna be' musician with a pre-programmed electric organ & who's vocal talents would have been made a mockery in the audience of Simon Cowell!
I'm not one normally to complain, & would always attempt to make the most of any holiday but the staff & the atmosphere in the place made it extremely difficult. I was counting down the days until the return journey home.
In summary, this hotel was 'Colditz' in Spain. Book a room & hope you can escape!

Me and my boyfriend (both 21 years old) booked to go to Best Los Angeles back in June 2007 and we arrived back home yesterday. We stayed half board and paid just over £500 for both.
Salou is fantastic! The hotel is located perfectly close to the beach (5 min walk max), bars and clubs (a bar called Idols is located about a 2 second dash from the entrance of the hotel!) and restaurants too! We found the night-life was what we were looking for with Cooldown@Crocs being our fave (it has a club downstairs too!) and Snoepys, our fave nightclub! There are plenty of bars and other clubs around, but we found these two we thoroughly enjoyed!
The hotel room was clean and as soon as the doors to the balcony was closed, we could hear no noise! We did come back to the hotel minimum 3am every morning and there was still night-life about, but all this rubbish we have read about it being far too loud is ridiculous!
As we went half board, we only managed to stagger to breakfast twice. When we did, I can be honest and say we didn't enjoy it, but we do like a proper english breakfast! We had dinner every night besides our last night and it suited us fine! I wouldn't suggest a fussy eater to book half board, but as we aren't, it suited us great! The people who work in the restaurant are friendly too. We really liked their soup with croutons!!
There is I believe two pools and they have entertainment (music) by the pool everyday. We never used the pool as the beach was so close!
We would definitely return to Salou abd we're gutted to be home! It was our first holiday away together (been together nearly 4 years!) and it was amazing! We will have these memories forever and we definitely recommend Salou for everybody!

Went with my friend for a week and I would say it was a week too long. I had read many reviews on it but thought I would go with an open mind. I’ve been on a few all inclusive holidays before so I knew what to expect with the food. I’d say the food was the worst I’ve ever seen and tasted; it was always cold and didn't look appealing at all and that I wouldn't give to a dog.
Hotel staff were very unfriendly even to the point of wondering if I gave them a tip would they smile. The rooms were basic but we didn't get clean towels everyday. The beds were changed and room cleaned just once in the whole week. The entertainment was a basic music player with scratched cd's which were repeated every day. The evening entertainment was a mini disco for kids that lasted most of the evening with bingo after that. However some nights the entertainment after the mini disco for the adults was good but it lasted just about a half an hour.
There is a lot of noise through the night but that was from nightclub revellers up until five in the morning so don't bank on any sleep. We just thought if you can't beat them join them or stay awake all night. The beach and the shops were close by I would go back to Salou any time but I’d stay well away from Hotel Los Angeles.

Hotel is clean, rooms are basic and small. Beds and towels changed often or at request. Staff are pleasant most speaking some English.
Overall we found this hotel catered mostly for Spanish guests - very ignorant.
Breakfast was 8am till 9.45 we found this too early our kids were too tired from all the late night noise inside and outside the hotel. The brochure says noise may be heard due to location of hotel, most of noise is inside hotel from midnight onwards.
The food is presented well with some choice but is repeated each week. I ate salad and chips nearly every evening as some meats weren't cooked properly or the chef was using same cooking utensils for cooked and raw meat.
Burgers and hotdogs were served every day but even my kids were sick of them by day 4.
There are two pool areas both are small so you need to get ready with your towels at 9am.
Our kids were getting out of pool with blisters on feet looked like acid burns, we told rep he spoke to maintenance but said the level of chemicals in water were normal. Kids still got more blisters. The kid’s entertainment was good a couple of hours in afternoon and a disco at night followed by dancers or fire eaters etc.
Salou is a nice place we went to aqua polis water park which is great .The bus is at the bottom of street and takes you to La Pineda for 2 Euros each.
We went to port Aventura for the night session 7 till 12 . it's not as good as you read about.
Our kids are 6 and 8 and couldn't go on many rides the ones they could go on they had to go on with an adult. Overall Salou is a great place very clean, plenty to do the beach is nice if you can stand the sand!
Just around the corner is a cafe called chippies which is great if you miss breakfast and does English fish and chips.

We have just come back from our last minute holiday. We (my husband, my 10 year old daughter and myself) stayed for seven days at this hotel. As we booked 3 days for departure, we decided on not spending more than a thousand pounds .it cost £1001, so a little more. As we did have a look at all the reviews after we booked, we were a little bit apprehensive. We did pack our earplugs!
We arrived in the evening (about 22:10) with another couple. The girl at reception (Natalie, very nice) told us she will open up the restaurant for us in about half an hour.
So we unpacked and then went downstairs to find a very extensive salad (cold chicken, cold meat and various other tasty things) and some drinks plated up.
First nice surprise.
We then went for a walk. As the hotel is right in the centre of Salou, we were pleasantly surprised how well behaved every one was (I thought it would be like Ibiza).there are loads of shops and bars all around.
On returning to our room we sat on our balcony and watched the end of the entertainment (which is on every evening, except on Monday) it was very noisy but fun to watch.
At 12:00 when the magic show was finished, we had a shower in our full bathroom (shower is excellent) and went to bed. (I would suggest using earplugs, as the bar opposite is noisy).
We got up at 08:00 and went for breakfast (07:00-10:00am). And were in for our 3rd nice surprise: the food was brilliant, 5 different cereals, bacon, eggs, beans, sausages, pancakes fresh rolls and all different Spanish foods. The lunch and evening meals were equally impressive.
The staff worked very hard at keeping all the food fresh and filled up. To sum it up this was one of the best hols we’ve had and we usually stay in 4*!!
Food brilliant, entertainment fun, staff working their socks of, pools (2 and Jacuzzi) fabulous. I can honestly say: do try this hotel if you up for something different and are open minded.
The two beaches are absolutely gorgeous (5 min walk). I would advise if you are a light sleeper to bring your earplugs though.
If you have any problems, Leigh the Thomas cook rep is in the hotel every day to sort things out for you.

Going back on 25th September 2007 for 4th year in a row, speaks for itself.
Friendly staff. clean rooms and good size. Good selection in Buffet style restaurant, David and lounge/pool bar top notch. Entertainment could be better but wife had everyone in stitches as she managed to confuse illusionist during rope trick in 2005 (he aint come back since).
If you want a good all round holiday go for it. Bars opposite are noisy but if you can't beat them JOIN them.
GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY (CHEAPER IF BOOKED ON WEBSITE)

Don't believe the hype!
Just back from 2 weeks at the Los Angeles. Went with wife and 2 kids (3 & 7). Arrived late on Friday night (11pm)
The first room that we were allocated was opposite a busy pub 'Idols'. We figured that it would be open until 12-1 which would be OK as that would be about the time that we would turn in anyway. How wrong we were! It was open until 4-5 and the noise was continuous and unbearable as there was also outside sitting area at Idols full of screaming hen parties.
After the first night we immediately requested a room move - we were moved first thing on the following morning and everything was much better. The room was on the opposite side of the hotel and was much quieter, it did face a main pedestrian road so there was still a bit of noise from time to time but nothing serious.
The hotel itself is very nice - rooms are fairly basic but very clean. There is a daily maid service and new towels everyday should you wish.
Hotel food was mainly pretty good, there was plenty of choice and it is fresh and well cooked and although some of the food won't be to everybody's taste there is always something you can grab.
The bar staff I thought initially were a bit dour, but if you make an effort with them and leave the occasional tip - you'll find they soon warm to you.
To be honest I am not surprised they look pee'd off sometimes the behaviour of some of the all inclusive s (particularly the brat kids) is atrocious. They talk to the staff as if they are their personal slaves.
Location is fine - 2 beaches within 5-10 mins, plenty of shops and bars nearby. There is also some half decent places to eat (Chippies, Taj Mahal, Shamrock, Rio Grande) round the corner should you fancy a change.
Portaventura is about 30 mins walk or 6 Euro in a taxi.
House of Illusion (5 mins away) is also a must.
8/10 (points deducted for original room allocation).

We stayed at this hotel as a party of six adults and four children for a fortnight June/July 2007.
During this time I think we only managed to get about 2 nights sleep. The location is very central however you could not escape the noise at any time as directly opposite the hotel is a lively bar which had live entertainment going on until 4am.
The hotels entertainment was pretty standard. The rooms are very tired but clean and could do with upgrading. If they were upgraded in 2003 they have had a tough 4 years!!!
The restaurant is nice. The food was good although not much choice. After 14 days you were fed up of chips and salad. There was a rush when fresh melon and pineapple was on the buffet despite it being popular it was not always available.
The hotel was popular with Spanish visitors who made it obvious that they did not like British visitors. I complained to the Restaurant manager after a Spanish waitress told the children to get our of her way and sit down.
I would recommend this hotel for young single people, looking to party all night and sleep all day. Not great for families with young children owing to the noise and attitude of some of the staff.

we arrived at this hotel not our choice as we booked with 2 can travel part of the medinland group, as the hotel we booked in feb 08 did not have any details of our reservation !!!!!! so we were told this was a better hotel and more suitable, how wrong were they................ myself and my partner ages 39 & 46 could not have been more disatisfied. we were all inclusive this is not an all inc hotel everyone who stays there stay half board, and in the 8 days we were there, we saw only a handful of british stay, the food was very repetative daily the staff were very friendly, the hotel was full of spanish oap"s and the entertainment was all for them and no one else. do not go there this is not for british looking for a relaxing fun hols and dont take kids there is nothing for them to do at any time of the day...... even though travel agents recommend this for families. very disapointing
