Comments:  Well I went three years ago, and this place was great. Stayed on the ground floor. Could not remember a noise issue. If you do go to Florida do expect mums, dads and children getting up early to go the parks. Thats why most of them go to Florida. I am going again in two days - 04/09/08. I will come back and write another honest review. Just one more thing to add I did stay at Orange Grove apart from the great golf course's I dont think I could say they are any different. Looking at some of the reviews a few people dont seem to happy. So see my review on my return and I will give you all an honest and fair opinion, it may have changed over the last few years. Hope not !

Comments:  We have just returned from a wonderful two week holiday at the Bahamas Bay Resort in Florida. We found the accommodation great and the facilities fantastic. The swimming pools were always clean and well kept. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. This is a great location for visiting all the theme parks and other places in Florida. The only reason we did not give it a 10 is that we ourselves were not very keen on the Karoke which was on too many times a week. We would have liked a quiet drink round the bar which we did went we visited in 2004.

Comments:  PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS.
They obvioulsy didn't stay at the same hotel we did.

We arrived at about 10pm in the evening and the service was BRILLIANT some of the nicest people i've ever met and found the rest of the staff exactly the same. The bad reviews of their staff MUST be ignored the only explanation I could imagine possible is that they were having a bad day, as were the family; but to be honest those families didn't seem to like anything so father christmas could have served them and they wouldn't have found him pleasant.

Anyway on to my brilliant time at bahama bay resort...
I had read on this and it had suggested to upgrade to a three bedroom which we did and it was beautifully clean, there is everything you could imagine you would need for two weeks, I also read to be situated to the top floor because of the noise but i found no need for this as i rarely heard anything from the higher floors.

I have read the bad reviews and a common thing is that they don't bring you clean towels or sheets.
1. YOUR SELF CATERING everywhere I have been self catering means you do it yourself and they supply plenty of towels i counted 12 face cloths! Also there was an extra set of bed sheets for all the beds. However if you do run out there is a washer/dryer which takes no time at all and it SO easy to use and still if at an extra cost you can get more.

2. If you're really fussy about no cleaning service [not sure how a family can make so much mess in two weeks but anyway] Don't quote me but i think it was something like $40 or so for them to do so.

About the 24 hour security guard service bad reviews:
There were two times that there wasn't a security guard there the two weeks we were there and his car was still parked so he probably had just gone to the restroom! Also as one review said "anyone could walk in" ITS A HOTEL THAT IS HOW THEY GET MONEY.

Their are something like 5 swimming pools each block is allocated one, these smaller pools close at 7.30 which is a bit annoying however the main pool is open at till 10.30pm which is really sociable and their is also a bar. I can't comment on the food as we went out most evening but we did see a pizza and it did look extremely good!

My advice:
If you want your sheets cleaned and new towels everyday go to a hotel full board.
It is by far worth it's 4 star rating
Get a car as it is far out from restaurants, 25mins from Disney 30mins Universal/Seaworld
Go to Houlihans restaurant, looks pretty shabby on the outside trust me its nice food and cheap as most places are.

Finding the place may only be tricky if you can't read directions, 3 HOURS is she kidding?

If you follow the directions given you should get there, It is on the left hand side of the 192 and has a massive sign saying "WESTSIDE" there is also a bank at that turning. Turn there follow the road go right and then carry on and you'll find it..

I really hope that the bad reviews haven't put you off as it was a really lovely place to stay and I would reccomend it to anyone. This doesn't mean to be arrogant however it may give you an idea of the quality; we are a family that frequently stays in 4 star plus hotels and this is worth its rating.

Comments:  What can I say about the Bahama Bay .
I can honestly say it was EXCELLENT.We had paid for a two bedroom apartment but on arrival we
were allocated a three bedroom one.The apartment overall was fantastic so spacious everything was there for you it was just like a home from home. The grounds around the apartments were very clean and well maintained the swimming pools were absolutely spotless.
The reception staff and maintenance staff were also very nice and helpful. I would most certainly go back and would definitely recommend it.My only regret is that two weeks just wasn't long enough.

Comments:  Just returned from Bahama Bay resort, had a fantastic holiday, staff very helpful & friendly.Spotlessly clean very well equipped, well situated lovely layout, cannot praise it enough, saving now to go back.supermarkets nearby, restaurants fairly near.Easy to find 15mins Disney,30 mins universal,60 mins busch gardens.
Highly recommended. If I was being really picky,it could do with a better bar at the club house for a night time drink without plastic glasses, but your that tired after the parks all day you just want to fall into bed anyway.

Comments:  I feel the standards at Bahama Bay are slipping, the mesh on our patio was damaged and the furnishings were looking dated and worn. There was a security guard on the front gate but on a night there was nobody there and the barrier was left up so anyone could access the resort.

Anyone getting married at Bahama Bay by Lake Davenport need to think twice! You get married right by the swimming pool area, I would be surprised if you could hear the vows being said with all the splashing, kids shouting and screaming and other general pool noise.

If you go down to the lakeside for fishing and if you've got kids beware a 5ft alligator comes right up by the jetty. The jetty area is wide open!!

Comments:  AWESOME,
I traveled with my sister-in-law and my three niece's.(9,7,5.) The condo was FABULOUS!
Very clean and spacious. We had a three bedroom condo and I can't say enough nice things about this place. It was only 5 minutes away from Disney World and only an hour away from Clearwater Beach. The staff were wonderful and the Spa was great. They have 3 pools to choose from and the grounds are a delight. I will be returning again and have no problems recommending this location to all my friends. Also, this location is very close to all amenities-restaurants, shopping malls, grocery stores, anything you need. I can honestly say this location was worth every penny!

Comments:  This is certainly a beautiful place it's well laid out and spacious. Its security gated and the security staff were extremely polite.
Apartments can't be faulted, the space, equipment and lay out is excellent there is everything a family needs. The standard of furnishing was high, great comfortable beds, could not fault the apartments and there contents.

Club House is great, the staff we found very helpful, very well presented the whole site was well tended, gardens, clean pools, plenty of loungers ( none broken) not the biggest pools in the world but adequate and well maintained and it was never that busy on any of the days.

It's down side, noise in the early morning. I know most are up and heading to the parks at the crack of dawn, afraid when we go on holiday we like to take it a bit easier 10 is early enough for us, don't like being forced awake every day at 7 and 8am.

The building are mostly three floors, if you are in a lower apartment there is no sound proofing.
If you fancy this place make sure you are in the top floor as the noise from above is horrendous, you have no chance of sleeping through it, from the patter of little feet or even big feet to every drawer thats opened every time someone goes in the fridge. shower, sneezes , uses the toilet you can hear everything believe me, the up side, it is a beautiful place so if you don't value your sleep and don't mind feeling like you are with a very large family, go for it, the place is great, I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER GOING BACK AS LONG AS WE GET A TOP FLOOR APARTMENT AND EVERYONE ELSE CAN SUFFER OUR NOISE !

Comments:  I have just returned and it was great - 8/10 - well always got to leave some area to improve.
3 bedroom apartment 1st floor- 3kids 2adults. Watch for noise from above floor as foot steps do carry but if you have kids yourself ,you dont mind.
As a base this place is great -we had a full 14 day itinery with the parks so we did not need the pool restaurant etc, but the pool was ok -basic no slides etc but there is a v good toddle sprinkler pool available also. Went to wall mart to shop but little shop ok for emergencies.
Cracker barrel is a great breakfast place and exchange rate is fantastic at the moment - kitchen facilities great and washing machine tumble brilliant- so put on at night and all done to bring home.
Also applebees down the road is fantastic value.

If you expect to stay in the hotel for a day may find differant - but it is what you make it .
Cant fault apartments all clean etc.

Comments:   We stayed at Bahama Bay Resort over Spring Break. We didnt spend very much time actually in the hotel because of our frequent trips to Disney World, Disney World Water Parks and the Kennedy Space Centre. The servoce at the front desk was very friendly even though we checked in at about 11:00 pm. We didnt get a chance to use the restaurant but when we looked inside it it was set up very nicely. The pool was fabulouse and it have 2 hottubs. There was a decent excersize room and free high speed internet in the lobby. The resort had a little Travel Agency in the lobby with information about things to do around the hotel. All in all the resort was very nice. The only trouble we had was at check in. We had been told in an email that we would be staying in building 18, which is by the beach, but when we got there we were in building 33. The only good thing about the mix-up was that instead of 2 rooms we got three so my brother and I got our own rooms.

Comments:  Wish I would have read the review from the gentleman who wrote that you should ask for a top floor. We stayed at Bahama Bay last year on the top floor and it was amazing. This year we were on the 2nd floor - also upgraded to a 3 bedroom; however, the 3rd floor are deluxe 3 bedrooms. The noise through the floors is nerve wracking, to say the least. It sounded like a herd of elephants and the people above kept going in and out of their patios until 4 am and then some of them got up at 6 am. We could clearly hear them talking & yelling and playing basketball. We moved to the front bedroom and then we could hear the people in the bathroom from the condo next to us. It left nothing to the imagination and was disturbing. The resort is beautiful; the condo is roomy and really lovely and the front desk staff were amazing and incredibly friendly - probably the friendliest I've ever encountered anywhere. Check offsellers for better rates. We saved $49 a night and didn't have to pay the $65 + tax cleaning fee. We explained that we contracted and paid for our holiday through another offseller so they took the cleaning fee off our account. If you don't speak up you will be charged this new charge (Jan. 2007). If you book directly with the Resort or with the inclusion to the affect of "all other charges, etc." they do charge this new fee. They mentioned also that travellers booked through Virgin do not pay this. You will need to purchase dish & dishwasher soap, paper towels, kleenex, etc.; however there is a Publix Grocery store a couple of miles down the highway. Bahama Bay is still a great place to stay... if you are on the top floor. For $10 a night extra you can book the 3rd floor deluxe. It's well worth if you want to get a good night's rest and enjoy your day hours. We'll be sure to return there with the assurance of a top floor.

Comments:  Remember if staying at the Bahama Bay Resort complex that to get top floor rooms as the floors are made of wood as I found out that they like to put families on the top floor ( 3rd ) that have small children.

As we know that all children that have just managed to walk/run do this a lot especially from 9pm-11pm and the noise is unbearable with not if none help after complaining to reception.

Oh and don’t forget that on arrival you have to pay $75.00 for laundry plus a $200 deposit for damage I don’t remember me travel agents telling me these extras ( your may ).

Apart from that whinge the complex is in top order with good grounds and pool areas.

Comments:  We arrived late at night after a very long journey to the Bahama Bay Resort and immediately felt alarmed at the state of the reception area; it was in desperate need of renovation, worn cane seating area, unhelpful, unfriendly reception staff.

The first apartment smelt damp and fusty, the carpets were dirty and dreadfully worn, the general appearance of the furniture and "curtains", if you could call them that, were worn and dated, the furniture had definitely seen better days.

We moved to apartment 2 after complaining and some reluctance on their part to acknowledge that there was a problem. Apartment 2 did not smell but again the carpets were dirty and the furniture was old, dated and the coffee table was deeply scratched and ring marked - what kind of people had been using this place? I wondered - by this time I had the Travel City Direct rep involved, she asked for us to be moved to a better accommodation but this would cost us another £140.00 and whilst this apartment was bigger - the carpet was loose and frayed, the bathroom shower had mould along the top and in the grouting, the bathroom door was off its railing and could not be moved, the bedside tables were scratched and marked - I could go on and on. You cannot cancel either as Travel City Direct treat these condo's like a villa rental - 100% cancellation costs, even when there is a clear problem with standard of accommodation which is not our fault?

So disappointing, I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Be careful as there are some good reviews about this place, it looks like there are deeply varying differences in the standards of accommodation here, probably because they are all privately owned condo's.

The travel time is more like 30 minutes to Disney and not the 10 minutes that the brochure would have you believe.

Comments:  My family and I stayed from the 5th Oct 07 to 19th Oct 07 in a ground floor 3 bed apartment, we had seen footage on the pc, but we were still surprised when we arrived.

The apartment was spotless and everything you would need was supplied even down to a washer /dryer which with 4 young children was a godsend and it didn’t feel like I was washing all the time, and the dishwasher was very useful although my 2 older weren’t happy as they thought they had got away from reloading whilst on holiday.

The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly and the lady in the supermarket shop was lovely too. Poolside bar staff were also very polite and nothing was too much trouble (even when my daughter spilt her drink every where they replaced it) I and my sister in law really enjoyed the blue Bahama cocktails they are a must.

The food at the poolside bar was hot and tasty on, lovely staff all round. We ate at Tradewinds twice during our stay best Caesar salad I have ever tasted great service. The whole resort was spotlessly clean.

I have recommended Bahama bay resort to everyone I know, they are guaranteed truly first class service.

We went fishing on the dock and my 6 year old caught a fish and I caught a croc that was amazing.

All in all if you have children of any age Bahama Bay really does cater for everyone.

This was our first visit to Florida and we will be returning knowing that Bahama Bay staff and management will be there to look after us. Thanks to all at Bahama Bay for everything.

10/10 even though the love bugs wouldn’t leave the pool area.

Comments:  A lovely relaxing place to stay after a crazy day at the theme parks. Bahama bay is away from all the hustle and bustle so you don't get all disney'd out!!! This was our second visit to Bahama bay(my husband and 2 girls aged 13 and 10) and we were just as impressed with it this time around. One dissapointing factor is as in previous reviews the gates aren't manned 24hours as they should be. We had $1500 stolen from our room safe (so use the safes at the front desk) The code had changed when i went to get some more money out and couldn't get into it so we had to call a maintenance guy out who put a machine on it & opened it for us, I then discovered the money missing and reported it to the sherriff. He came and took a statement,Bahama bay were no help at all,the day the money went missing a couple of strange looking cleaning ladies were hanging around outside(they aren't supposed to go into your apartment untill you have vacated your property at the end of your stay) So beware, this is the only conclusion we can come up with as our own code which we entered for the deposit box had been changed!!!!
Bahama bay is a lovely place to stay and the Ladies on Reception were lovely as with the Guys behind Mambos Bar, they really looked after us,Management are different though, no help or consideration for our loss whatsoever!!!!!!
