Very Nice!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay here in June. We arrived late so our first impression came from the wonderful breakfast in the morning. There was a kiddie pool as well as a nice sized regular pool and hot tub. Our room was cleaned everyday from friendly housekeepers. The location of this hotel is perfect. Seaworld just around the corner and Disney only about 10 minutes away. We had no troubles and will return here for future trips to Orlando.
Was really fab!
We stayed (my partner & I) here in May last year from May 20th-27th and must say this was a great hotel. The rooms were clean, bed linen changed 3 times the week we stayed and the room was comfortable. It is situated on Westwood Blrd near seaworld, and is very quiet. There are a few Restaurants nearby which were good, one of which was a steak and ale with fab food. There is free shuttle service to Walt Disney World, which is handy but do watch for the cars that try to charge you. There is a free breakfast which is hot, and the service from the staff was good. The pool was nice, and there is a bar, a games room, laundry room and gym. You can also hire out videos to watch in your room from a shop in reception that also sells food like crisps and sweets, cakes etc along with pain killers, cottombuds, bath stuff, soap, toothpaste, anything you may need. You are across the road from I ride Trolley stop. A huge carpark. This hotel was good value for money and I would stay here again with no problem. And one last thing, there are windows in the corridoor, and the lobby is beautiful. If you are staying here, then you will enjoy it!
great location, lovely staff!
First impressions were great! There was a spacious living area with a small kitchen, and a double room with two queen sized beds. Prfect for a family. Kitchen was basic but clean and very hiegenic, place was cleaned every morning by friendly maids. Theres a free breakfast with fruit juices, eggs, bacon etc . It sets u up for your day, then right outside the house is an I trolley route, so its fab. Or if your in a car all the major theme parks and shopping centers are within 10 mins! Not much entertainment going on, but there is a large swimming pool for the kids and a lovely heated jacuzzi for the adults. All in all the hotel was a well presented and enjoyable place to stay! Hope this has been of help! p.s - florida is the best!!
great get away!!
Very quiet ,clean ,comfortable ,restful hotel. Very convienient to the I-Ride Trolley which will take you anywhere form Prime outlets to Universal. Only 3 stops to Sea World!!Staff very helpfuls. Enjoyed the included breakfast.Pool area very quiet and peaceful during the day.Would definiely return here.Rates on the intenet are great
Great little hotel
Hotel located in an ideal spot just off I-Drive, and much quieter than other hotels futher up. Ideally located for Sea World, and other parks within easy driving distance. Good range of restaraunts nearby, so rarely used cooking facility in room. Hotel is smart and comfortable, average size rooms, but adequate for a couple of weeks when all you need is a bed for the night. Biggest bonus is the complementory breakfast, with a good selection of cooked food, cereals, etc. Hotel overall has good facilities and I will definately pick this hotel when I next go to Orlando.
Wouldn't stay again
This hotel is deceiving from the outside and lobby area which seem nice. My co-worker and I stayed for 4 days in 2 side by side rooms. They were both non-smoking rooms, but my co-workers room smelled of stale smoke. The rooms are spacious, but in desperate need of an update. The walls needed a fresh coat of paint, the carpet was old and worn, the refrigerator was old and paint was coming off the shelves, the bathroom sink was stress cracked and the metal was discolored. The couch looked old and dirty and the chairs in the room were unraveling. I only had one remote for 2 old tv's. My remote would not channel up or down for the bedroom tv. It only worked the power and would change the channel if you keyed in the channel number. You could not channel up or down on the tv iteself either, the function was disabled. We went to the front desk to see if they had any rooms in the hotel that had been refurbished and the desk clerk said they have not updated any of the rooms in the hotel yet. The rooms in comparison to the hallways were slightly better. The hotel hallways are really trampled and our elevator tile was cracked and had a hole in it. Service was matching of our room. The first day the cleaning staff took my bedspread and did not leave any new soap, shampoo, or coffee. My glass on the bathroom sink was not cleaned or replaced any of the days. They did replace the towels and wiped things down. I had to call down to the front desk to find the cleaning staff had gone home for the day, so the front desk got me my bedspread and fresh toiletries. My co-worker had the same service on the toiletries and her pillow cases were left on her bed to put back on her pillows herself. My co-worker was only able to book her room for 2 of the 4 days due to the hotel being full. Each day we went to the front desk (as we were told to do on our first day) to see if anything opened up, so she could extend her stay instead of moving into my room. Each front desk staff was less than friendly about checking. On the 3rd day, my co-worker moved her stuff into my room and went to check out. At that time, Nicole at the front desk asked why she was checking out a day early! We told her how we had tried to extend her stay and she argued that the room was already booked for her at least for one more day (our reservation confirmation showed 2 days). We said that's great and that's what we had been trying to do, so the front desk gave her the room key back, but luckily she didn't move her clothes back into the room as we had to get to the convention center for work. When we arrived back in the hotel later that night, her room had been given to someone else afterall! Her key would not work. Danny at the front desk was the first employee that was helpful or kind to us that night. He did book another room for that night for my co-worker and apologized for the confusion (this room was also old looking, but it did have a new refrigerator). There were a couple of merits to the hotel. The breakfast bar included in the room rate included eggs, meats and waffles or pancakes along with toast and cereal options. The pool area was ok. The water in the pool was about 90 degrees and was wonderful at night. The pool was actually warmer than the hot tub one of the nights, although they corrected the hot tub temperature after one day. You cannot bring drinks to the pool if they are not in cans. There is no glass allowed at the pool which is normal, but the hotel staff could not come up with any plastic glasses for us to use (and there are not any in your room). Again the rooms are spacious and they have small kitchenettes, iron & board and hair dryers in the room. No lotion is available, not even from the front desk and you have to leave a note to get them to leave soap and shampoo if you are staying for more than a day, but they will leave it if asked. Our room rate was $109. I'm sure you can find a nicer hotel for the money. There are a lot of newer hotels near by, you just have to book sooner. The west entrance to the convention center is within walking distance, the North/South entrance is not and the trolley doesn't start until 8 am which is too late for most shows. There are a couple of restaurants near by, but most of the nice restaurants are further up I-drive.
Good Value - Lots of Room
We just returned from two nights stay at the Hawthorn Suites prior to leaving for a cruise. The King suite was large enough for our family of 4, including 2 teens. The room was clean as were the pool and breakfast areas. Housekeeping quickly responded to our request for extra towels and a blanket. The breakfast was okay, not a lot of choices, but included scrambled eggs and meat and some fresh fruit along with a couple varieties of cereal. The room was quiet despite the fact that we were directly across from an elevator and the Tollway was outside our back windows. We felt that we got excellent value for the money we paid for the room.
Tired, sad and stained!
On arrival all looked good in the foyer. Things started going pear-shaped however, when we set out to find the room. Walking down what seemed like miles of anonymous windowless corridors, we finally found our room. First impressions were thoroughly disappointing. The bathroom doors, walls and fitments were stained, rusting and,as we later discovered, constantly in need of repair (toilet breaking, shower not more than a dribble, shower curtain falling down, etc). The kitchen looked very much the worse for wear, though by far the hardest thing to stomach was to be found in the bedroom. The skinny pillows were very lumpy and covered in stains, and the sheets were greying and full of holes. I just didn't feel comfortable in the room at all, just as well we were able to find plenty to do during the day! On a brighter note, the hotel swimming pool and breakfast area was decent enough, though pool towels were always in short supply, with the towel trolley being mobbed every time it appeared. I would check out whether this hotel has been refurbished before ever considering staying here - its position on a quieter stretch of I-Drive has its attractions (so to speak).
We loved the Hawthorn Suites at Sea World!!
We found our stay at the Hawthorn Suites Orlando at Sea World (February 2-4, 2005) to be excellent! The location was great...next to lot's of restaurants/stores and around the corner from Sea World. They also have a shuttle to Disney but we did not use it so we cannot comment on the service. The 1 Bedroom Suite was very spacious, clean, had a kitchenette, and the beds were very comfortable! We did not use the sleeper sofa. Housekeeping was very efficient! We left for 1 1/2 hours one morning and when we got back our room was already cleaned! Wow, Great Job. The hotel has a nice size heated pool and a 10 person Jacuzzi that's also nice! We had the free buffet breakfast for the two mornings we were there and found it very satisfying. Not a big selection but enough to satisfy. The front desk people were very helpful. They even had a 'cork screw' for our wine we had bought! I found it to be a great location, quiet, and a great place to stay! As long as your not looking for a 'resort' type place or the 'ritz' you'll love it here too! We will certainly be staying here again. Debbie
Nice Stay!
We stayed here for 2 weeks in October 2004. We found the hotel to be very nice. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Agree that the decor could be updated! Maid service and clean towels every day. Pool area nice, quiet and secluded. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and all you required. Situation was ideal for all parks etc... You really do need a car, although the I-Trolley stops just outside the hotel. Will come back again!
