Stay away

I had a conference and stayed at the Renaissance for one week. There is coffee service in the morning as there is no coffee maker in the room. Every morning we ordered 4 cups and 2 carafes. They never got it right, some days we got no coffee, some times one carafe and one cup, some days 4 cups, one carafe. Tradewinds had terrible service one day we left because no one would wait on us, once I asked for water 3 times and never got it. Some days we got a paper, other days we didn't. The rooms are nice and roomy. However the house cleaning would make up the bed, but never washed the sinks out or washed off the bathroom counters. However, the pool is great and the service staff at the pool was awesome. You never go without a drink. My advice is to not stay here. With the number of hotels in Orlando I would not recommend this one. It was expensive and lacked good or even average service.
Excellent Experience

I just spent the night at the Renaissance Resort and my family and I had a wonderful experience. Our room was neat and clean and the two queen size beds had three pillows each in the stead of the usual two. Our wake up call was prompt and the complimentary coffee and hot chocolate was very good. We had no problems and we will stay there again.
Won't stay there again

While the Renaissance Orlando Resort had a great foyer, our room wasn't even as nice as a Marriot Courtyard, which surprised me for it being a resort. Guest Services: No one told us any perks or benefits of staying at the property. I read other reviews from people just now that said they had a breakfast buffet, but I never saw that or heard about it. We weren't told about the game room or where the pool was located. We had to basically figure everything out by reading through the in-room info binder. NO ONE TOLD US THAT THERE WAS A TROLLEY THAT RAN IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL ALL OVER ORLANDO until our last day when my husband asked if there was anything within walking distance to eat at. This information should have been told to us at check-in or spotlighted somewhere in the rooms because it was only $2 per person per day and we could have been using it every day instead of being stuck in the hotel. Entertainment: The arcade was lame. The ping pong table was outside and didn't have balls nor an attendant to get any from. They set up a banquet on the basketball court one night which was odd. There really wasn't anything to do at the hotel in the evenings, which surprised me for being located in an entertainment area. Transportation: The front desk referred all the transportation inquires to Mear's which operated in the hotel lobby. When I talked with Mear's about getting transportation to the parks they tried to sell it to me. When I told them it was complimentary with being a guest at the hotel they acted surprised and asked me if the hotel told me that. (It WAS complimentary with hotel guests, but Mears wasn't letting us know that.) Also, when we talked with Mears about going to a restaurant locally for dinner they said we could rent a taxi. When we told the lady in the gift shop we were thinking about getting a taxi for this restaurant she said it would be too expensive for as close as the restaurant. NO ONE TOLD US THAT THERE WAS A TROLLEY THAT RAN IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL ALL OVER ORLANDO. Wake-up Calls: Called and delivered our complimentary coffee to wrong room and missed making our transportation request. Hotel didn't offer a ride to the theme park until we asked them what they would do to help us get there. Overall: I didn't think the hotel was worth $100 per night, which we paid through priceline - but the hotel said their standard rooms usually start at $250 per night. So I'm glad that I didn't pay $250 per night atleast.
Very pleased

Room was large, quiet, clean and comfortable. Check in was fast and free champagne at check in is fun. Beautiful hotel! Parking free and easy. Pool area is nice. My one complaint was with the regular breakfast buffet. For $14.00 it was rather plain. Then when I went to check out the charge from the restaurant was wrong. I was overcharged by $20.00. So check carefully for errors on your bill. Overall a pleasant stay. I will return.
Nice hotel, but ....

I stayed at hotel last week and had mixed feeling about my stay. The good: The rooms are large with high ceilings and well appointed. When you setup a wake up call, they offer to leave you complementary coffee, tea or hot cocoa at your door as part of the wake up service (nice touch). The government rate included breakfast, which could be had in 2 dining venues or through room service. I preordered breakfast every night and my room service breakfast arrived promptly every morning, was hot and very good. It was also nice that breakfast was served on a roll in table instead of a tray. Every member of the staff that I dealt with was genuinely friendly. The fitness center was well equipped. The bad: The room had several very noticeable carpet stains which took away from my overall opinion of the room. My room was cold when I arrived so I turned up the heat, but it didn?t work. When I called the front desk, someone came quickly, but it still never heated up the room. It got so cold in the middle of the night that I ended up throwing my coat over me to keep warm. The next morning I called again about the heat and when I got back the heater was finally fixed. The next day it stopped working again and someone came up for the third time in three days to fix it. Five minutes after I checked in, someone came by to refill the mini bar. When I checked my bill I had been charged for items the previous guest had used ? and I didn?t even have a mini bar key! Even though my rate included breakfast every day I had to call the front desk to have them remove the breakfast charges from my bill. I had room service for dinner one night ? big mistake. The burger and fries were ice cold and the tiramisu was horrid. I got a phone message from the hotel that they had a gift for me downstairs, which it turns out is their way of trying to get you downstairs so they can try and sell you a timeshare. Tacky.Overall: I would stay here again. It is a very nice hotel. Even though this hotel has problems getting the details right, the staff always took care of each matter quickly and in a friendly manner
Beautiful Hotel
from gabirds
Just returned from a weekend in Orlando. This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are enormous. The staff were great. Both check in/out smooth and under 2 minutes.Across the road from Seaworld. Ideal location. Ate in the Dolphin restaurant, food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had called around a couple of restaurants outside of the hotel, this was a Saturday night, at 6.30 PM nothing was available until after 9.00 PM. We chose to eat in the hotel and were delighted we made that decision. Complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocalate delivered to your room in the morning (both days arrived 20 minutes late, so order it a little earlier than you need.) All in all I would choose this hotel for my next stay in Orlando and I have tried 40 other hotels in Orlando over the years from 3* to 5*.
Unique hotel, great location, great Sunday brunch
from travelwriter36a
A regular to Orlando, I have to highly recommend the Orlando Renaissance Resort. A unique property, with an impressive 10 story atrium, glass elevators, aviary, huge outdoor pool and spacious rooms - all in a convenient location make it a great choice for the Orlando visitor. Treat yourself, it is not your typical Orlando resort. When staying, be sure and take advantage of the Sunday brunch - I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the subject of the all you can eat crab leg buffet. The Orlando Renaissance Resort's is second to none. Try, not crab legs, but only pre-cracked crab claws, and shrimp, that were huge. There were many other items on the Mexican themed buffet but I kept my focus on the shrimp and crabs - a buffet second to none.
Bad food, worse service
from A TripAdvisor Member
WonderfulWonderfulWonderfulWonderfulWonderful This place was great. I just have to say the food was bad and the service was worse. We went into our hotel room after waiting for almost FIVE minutes. You'd think that with only four people in front of me they would have gotten to me faster. But I cooled down and took my family up to the room. Form there we went to the park and then came back. When we returned there was an obese janitorial person who was peeing in our toilet. It was fine though because he zipped up, flushed, and set the seat down in a matter of seconds, then left. I have no complaints about this hotel. It was the best ever. I would definately stay here again! WonderfulWonderfulWonderfulWonderfulWonderful
Loved this hotel.

The lobby was beautiful with fish pond and birds. The room was very nice, queen size beds, large bath, balcony overlooking atrium, nice bath products, etc. Loved getting coffee and hot chocolate delivered to room each morning - complementary. Great for walking over to Seaword as well. Our only complaint was that room service dishes stayed in the hall for two days before being removed. No excuse for this.
Huge rooms, pool, and atrium
from A TripAdvisor Member
We were very impressed with the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World. We got a great rate for our stay in August 2003, $70/night with our entertainment rate. (entertainment.com sells these huge coupon books for around $40. The money we saved at this hotel more than paid for the book.) We loved our oversized room and bathroom. Rooms included a very comfortable set of chairs and plenty of storage space in closet and drawers. No refrigerator, but the front desk suggested we use the minibar and that worked just fine. Complimentary coffee, tea, or hot chocolate was delivered to our room each morning; it just had to be ordered the night before. The pool was beautiful and was also very large and never very crowded. There also was a large hot tub and kiddie wading pool, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. The atrium was also huge and included an aviary as a centerpiece and a pond with waterfalls featuring colorful Japanese koi fish. Location was also great, could walk to front gate of Sea World. Lots of guests were there on business, and I think that contributed to the quiet, upscale nature of the entire resort. We totally recommend the Renaissance at Sea World!
First time to Florida and it was amazing. Me and my family were so impressed, opposite sea-world, free transport, helpful staff, amazing pool with toys inside for the little ones, 2 whirlpools and tennis, basketball and volleyball courts outside!!! Amazing! I am going again... more
