" My wife and I have stayed at the... "

My wife and I have stayed at the Beach Club previously and found the hotel to be excellent. However, this last holiday was a disappointment.

The plates and cutlery in the dining room were not too clean, with dried-on food deposits still clinging. The hotel's dishwasher may have been faulty, but whatever the reason the outcome was not satisfactory. Several guests complained but nothing seem to be done to rectify the problem.

Another problem was the bathroom. There was a ring of dirty black mould around the bath. It could have been removed with a mould and mildew remover such as 'Dettol', but nothing was done.

There were far too many children at the hotel for our liking. Many were very badly behaved.

" Felt I must log a review on above... "

Felt I must log a review on above hotel as I had heard so many negative reports and almost tried to get us moved the week before we travelled.

I returned on Sunday from a week all inclusive with a friend and my two year old daughter.

The hotel was the cleanest I have ever stayed in for a three star (I have previously stayed in everything from 2* to 4* plus).

The food was delicious and fresh, yes the meals are the same every day, if you insist on piling salad, pasta and the meat choice on to the same plate!! Do people really eat like that at home?

My friend and I would opt for pasta one meal, salad another, roast beef another - amazing isn't that how you would normally eat a meal!

The rooms were absolutely fine and perfectly cleaned every day. The common areas were kept spotless with toilets etc being cleaned about 6-7 times daily.

For a three star hotel - I really thought it was excellent value, the entertainment was good and the vast majority of staff were totally pleasant. We paid £800 for the week, and felt we certainly had our monies worth.

Be prepared for plastic glasses everywhere, but then with children running around all the time, that is very sensible. The outside pool was cold, which was my only complaint, but I guess as the summer comes it will warm up a bit.

As for the bug, where was it! I met one gentleman who complained he had been very ill for the last two days, and then promptly informed us he had won at Bingo the night before when he had been sat in the bar all evening!!

The doctor's room was right off the main bar and yet I didn't see one person come in or out of that room in the whole week.

I loved this hotel and would visit again.

" Do not book at this hotel it is... "

Do not book at this hotel it is dangerous if you have an elderly or young guest. We have just flown home two days early after my elderly mother has spent days in the private hospital being treated for food poisoning (gastro enteritis)

The staff says it’s a bug from Africa! The desk says we English bring bugs with us! The hospital says this hotel needs to sort itself out. Over half the people in hospital are from this hotel. The ambulance driver nearly parks there!

" Just returned from one week's... "

Just returned from one week's holiday. 3 star hotel, but well placed, good bus/train access to other places.

Accommodation was cleaned every day, could have done with touch of paint on walls, and beds were solid!!. Staff very friendly, except some working on the Piano Bar, need lessons on customer management.

However heard every day about someone coming down with the "bug" going around, and was once told nothing to do with the hotel. Despite 3 rooms on our floor having caught it, one man had his father in hospital for 6 days and though we tried every which way not to catch, alas my wife was ill on Wed evening/all day Thursday, and I came down Thursday evening and all day Friday, the day we were due home.

Believe me, nothing was going to stop me staying any longer and traveled in a poor condition, now just recovered - 4 days later.

Please ensure something is done about this, appears to have been going on for several years, which is a pity because apart from that bug, I’d give it a 10/10 rating.

" Ok here goes.

I am now a... "

Ok here goes.

I am now a 5 year vet of the Beach Club and in all that time I have never wanted for anything.

Food was great and the cleanliness of the dining area was spot on. You could have a good traditional breakfast every morning if you wanted it.

Or if you felt a little bit hungover you could have yourself a champagne breakfast to chase away the hangover (heehee). Other mealtimes gave you a wide variation of food and some nice desserts too.

The hotel used to have a complex across the road but they sold it off which was a little bit disappointing as it was great if you had young kids.

Being up the last few floors of the main hotel would set your heart in your mouth if you had young ones. Eyes in the back of your head and all that.

If you have older kids then you could just enjoy the views, especially at night.

The hotel entertainment staff were great. Lucy and desi work their socks off for you and are only too happy to help if you needed anything.

The shows are ok too, some good some not so good (the dreaded parrot show argh) man if I see that show one more time I will shoot the guy and not with a camera ahem.

Beach is just different class and all you do is walk out the gate, cross the road and you are in the med (brilliant).

Now there are the rumours about the bug. Personally I don’t think its anything to do with this hotel because what I did notice is when I was in the sea, if you swam out about 30-40mtrs there was all kinds of rubbish in the water (human waste, nappies etc) I don’t mean it was crawling but there was enough to probably cause a health risk.

So I went in on Wednesday aft and by 3am Thursday morn I had to sprint for the bathroom and had a 2 hr stay.

Now being in the water and then getting ready for dinner and then your alcohol as well. Well I think it all adds up to what happened to me.

Don’t get me wrong though, as I said at the beginning of this I wasn’t ill once in the 4yrs previous.

Hotel Staff were great and helpful and the bar staff monkeys and are always winding you up. Keep your eyes on Carlos and Raoul. Great fun.

There is a shop next to the kiddie’s pool which sells everything you could want but at a price. Walk 200 yards along the road and you will get the same item at half price.
Enough about that though.

To sum up. This hotel gives you everything. The kids love it and the wife just loves to lounge around the pools or go shopping while I like to take part in the activities which keeps the day going.

Am I going back next year? YOU BETCHA. See you there 8th July 2007.

" What a lovely hotel definitely much... "

What a lovely hotel definitely much better than your normal 3 star.

The bedroom accommodation was spotless well finished and a nice size.

The food/drink was first class and the facilities offered were very good and the evening entertainment was of a good standard. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Although positioned away from the centre it was right on the beach with bars restaurants and shops nearby.

The train station La Colina is about ten minutes walk from the hotel and is a very cheap way to travel.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

" This has to be one of the best... "

This has to be one of the best holidays we have had as a family!

I was petrified as I had read all about the 'virus' that is meant to be present at the hotel, but whilst I was there.

I didn't see anyone ill, other than those who had clearly overindulged on the unlimited food and alcohol!

The staff couldn't do enough o help you, and they were all so friendly with my son.

The food is lovely, with plenty of choice, the snack bar which is open in between meals is left overs and just chips etc, but you eat so much at meals, there arew never many people at snack time anyway!

The alcohol is amazing, you can take it to your room, the pool, the restaurant or the bar and there is everything you could imagine.

The entertainment is good, with Bingo everynight and a different act for the kids.
I would go straight back here, the price is superb and the holiday was excellent!

" I wasn't impressed with the quality... "

I wasn't impressed with the quality and customer service at this hotel at all. The entertainment and accommodation was excellent, however, the food was appalling. Snacks offered were just left-overs of the other meals and it obviously wasn't cooked properly or washed as I was ill for most of my visit.

This could be just a coincidence but I wasn't the only one who suffered from the food, my partner and other families suffered also with the same side effects. There wasn’t a variety in the restaurant either. It was the same food every day and I was sick of the same food every day. I wasn’t impressed with the staff either. They were rude, disrespectful and ignorant. I wouldn't recommend this for families with young children at all.

The pool area was cramped and there was hardly any room for families to have any space to themselves at all. Stay clear of the restaurant, full stop! I would never fault the entertainment, there was plenty to do and a variety of lovely shows for all ages. The rooms were always kept clean as well which I was impressed with.

I’m sorry to say I would think twice before booking a holiday here, especially if you are paying all-inclusive. I ate out for most of the duration of the holiday and it was a waste of money. I’m twenty years old and although I’m young, I really regret going to this hotel.

" Just returned from a week at the... "

Just returned from a week at the beach club. Our party were two couples. We arrived early by taxi and rooms were ready straight away.

The rooms were clean and the beds very comfy. Armed with our blue wrist bands we headed outside everything clean and the bar staff were very friendly and offered a good choice of drinks.

Feeling hungry we headed upstairs to the restaurant and given hand wipes. The choice of food was great and catered for all tastes you would have to be very picky not to be able to have a good meal.

This was the start of a great week’s holiday. We had read some horror stories about bugs etc but we saw or heard nothing yes the doctor is there every morning what a great plus with children and older people staying there .

So all I can say is that everything was clean, food and drink great staff friendly and we had a great time. Roll on next year when we hope to return for another great week.

" I (15) have just spent 11 nights in... "

I (15) have just spent 11 nights in the beach club hotel with my parents, my younger brother (12) and sister (6)...We had an excellent time and met lots of friendly people.

The hotel itself is very clean and the staff there are very friendly. The entertainment team do a great job and the evening entertainment runs on a 2 week timetable.

However, there is an airborne virus spreading around and whilst we were there 80% of the people staying in the hotel were ill. Luckily none of us got the virus but we knew quite a few people that did. I was sad to leave the hotel this morning but will hopefully be returning again.

" We booked an allocated on arrival... "

We booked an allocated on arrival deal to the Costa del Sol a week before we arrived. We did a little research and predicted we would be staying at The Beach Club. We were correct! I traveled with my girlfriend, we are mid-twenties.

We arrived and the staff on reception were polite and we were swiftly checked in.

At night, the hotel is imposing and looks great from the outside, although in daylight it tends to look a little tired and is in need of refurbishment. This applies to the interior also, the hotel is very 80's in its decor.

The room was spacious but again, in need of refurbishment. The bathroom had seen better days but was always clean. The beds were good as was the clothes space. The balcony spacious with a nice view of the sea. Small TV with Sky News and CNN. The maid service was very good. Cleaned everyday by polite, friendly staff. Check, the air con settings. I woke up on our 1st day with a really nasty cold. I'm sure it was down to the very cold setting.

The lifts are not great, very slow. It was quicker to walk even though we were on the 6th floor.

We attended the rep meeting on our 1st morning. To be honest it was a waste of time. We were expecting to be given lots of information about the hotel but in truth it was just a chance for the Reps to sell us trips.

We were surprised at the quality of breakfast. If you like a full English, this is the place. Overall the food was excellent, a good range of British fayre for the less adventurous and some nice seafood for the curious.

I only ever used the snack facility once. Its very much geared up for kids- sausages, burgers etc.

Drinks. Bar staff on the whole were friendly and efficient. Although, every drink was served in a 300ml plastic cup. I drank the lager, Cruzcampo. It would have been nice to drink a pint out of a proper glass. The longest I queued for drinks was no more than 2 minutes.

There is enough for kids to do. They operate a club in the day for them as well as a disco at night. Added to that pool tables, air hockey etc.

The adult entertainment was ok. Comedian, Hypnotist, Male vocalist, Boy band etc.

Sun loungers were particularly hard to come by. I used to go down at 7.30 to get a couple. The pool area is small in comparison to the size of the hotel.

The hotel shop is well stocked and you can buy a good selection of Newspapers.

The hotel was mainly filled with families. Lots of kids of all ages. Everyone was pleasant and friendly.

I wouldn't book the Beach Club again but I wouldn't mind if we ended up there on a AOA deal. In short, its a well run hotel with good food but lacks a little in terms of entertainment, drinks servings and the quality of its appearance.

" Just got back my holiday on Monday... "

Just got back my holiday on Monday and I loved it that much that me and my friends are booking up to go next year. I’m a young teenager and went with my family and friends, the bars around the hotel were fab!!

There was something for the kids to do and for the adults, the food was amazing and I just can’t wait to go back next year. Our room got cleaned everyday and we got clean towels everyday also. Thomson were helpful towards us! They get top scores.

The staff were friendly and spoke really good English, it made me feel bad for not speaking good Spanish!

" I just came back of this holiday a... "

I just came back of this holiday a week and a half ago and I am booking again for next year! I absolutely loved the hotel, it was very clean and you got maid service and clean towels everyday. Unfortunately there was a bug going round the area at the time which I caught but it was only a one day thing and had nothing to do with the hotel or its food.

The entertainment was great and had a wide variety for the children and adults. The staff were friendly and spoke good English and the food was good. Also there were activities for children and adults everyday and before the show every night there was 2 games of bingo which had great prizes, one night I won 180 euros! The location was good because it was situated in-between Malaga and Torremolinos and just across the road from a beautiful beach and it was quiet.

There was a regular bus service into Torremolinos which cost just over a euro and a taxi was around 5 euros. Also there was a small train station just at the back of the hotel which was also fairly priced. The only two things I did not like were that you had to get up at about 6 am to get a chance for a sun lounger and the lifts were a nightmare at mealtimes but overall a superb holiday and I will be going back many times!

" This hotel was a gross disappointment... "

This hotel was a gross disappointment to all 12 of us that went including my 10 year old who begged to come home. The food was mediocre at best, and things were recycled from lunch to dinner etc. Day time entertainment staff all but invisible, only appeared for water polo mid afternoon then again at night for mini disco and bingo, she spoke so fast and so quietly it was difficult to hear anyway.

Sun beds had all gone by 7.00am so we had to go to what was a very nice beach across the road, this cost us 4 euros a day each for sun bed and umbrella, also meant we bought expensive drinks from beach bar which was very annoying as we all inclusive at hotel. If you wanted a seat at night to watch the show you had to be down there by 9.00pm or you had to sit on the sun beds you could not get in the day. Shows were mainly poor apart from comedian and hypnotist. Kids played football near this area at night so drinks got spilt on regular basis.

Out of the 12 of us 7 got a bug that rep said was a touch bug and that all hotels in area are suffering from, this didn't ring true, as doctor had surgery in hotel Monday - Saturday so this should have been a clue something very wrong indeed. Every family we spoke to had someone ill, babies being very badly affected, one Italian family went home early because of this. My mum in law got it when we came back so that makes 8. This put us all off eating in hotel so the ones that could eat bought stuff from elsewhere again annoying as all inclusive. The whole hotel was not as clean as it should have been, the Piano bar was very shabby, net curtains filthy with holes in them, seats very uncomfortable.

Hotel decided to paint outside around the pool area, so cherry picker was used and areas blocked off, could have been done at a quieter time of the year I am sure. Lifts had a mind of there own and the wait for them during meal times was considerable. Queues at bar but staff worked very fast to keep them moving. They also tried to keep pool area clean but most of the guests had no respect and left rubbish to blow about even though plenty of bins. These were the same people who let their kids run wild, wore sports wear even at night had more tattoo's than a sailor and language to match and that was just the women.

Drinks always served in plastic glasses even at night. Some people we spoke to have been here many times and loved it, why we cannot understand, not one of us would set foot in it again if it was for free. Two weeks here was enough for one lifetime. Think very carefully if you’re thinking of booking if you are going take plenty of medication and money, you may need the doctor.

" Literally just got back from this... "

Literally just got back from this holiday and had to comment on it. Situated towards the end of the beach front this hotel has just about all you need. Fifteen to twenty minutes walk to the main centre along a promenade next to the beach conveniently placed bars/restaurants along the way.

The rooms are basic but nice and cleaned everyday along with a change of towels. There is a very nice pool area and at this time of the year quite easy to get sun beds with a very handy set of loos and bar area. Food is on tap all day and as I was a bit wary of the food was pleasantly surprised by the excellent variety and quality. All evening entertainment we attended, which was most of it, was great fun and as it was accompanied by copious amounts of pina colada we had a really good time.

The area is ideal for traveling around , and we had a car so took advantage of this and did all the tourist jaunts, Benalmadena, Marbella, Fuengirola and of course Gibraltar (loved the Apes). Go up to the mountains in Malaga and breathe in the glorious fresh air and ride the Teleferique to the top of the mountain in Benalmadena and savour the views! Oh and go to the Cocodrilos (Spanish for Crocodiles) Park in Torremolinos itself and get to hold a baby crocodile, amazing!

All in all a wonderful recharge for the batteries, great location, great hotel.
