Submitted By: Mrs C SOUTHERNBoth my husband and I had a very bad dose of the tummy bug towards the end of our week and in fact my husband is still suffering some 3 days after our return home. Lots of other people were also struck down with this very nasty bug during the same week. I have read several reports from other holiday makers suffering the same fate during other weeks so there is definitely a problem in this hotel.

Submitted By: Mr D SmithWe were "Fully Inclusive" and so we were going to eat and drink there. We stayed for 10 days and ate in the restaurant at the Beach Club and had no ill effects at all.
As we walked into the restaurant, we were given a wipe to clean our hands with, the hot food was always piping hot and people used a tissue to hold the French stick when cutting it. The plates were clean, as were the knives and forks. The tablecloths were clean and changed regularly too.
We couldn't see anywhere how cleanliness was an issue and we didn't get the so called "Beach Club Bug" !
Towards the end of our holiday though, we did start feeling a bit nauseous and it can be very easy to say that it was the hotel's food.
In reality, we were feeling ill because we had spent 10 days in the sun and 10 nights out on the town drinking quite wildly not returning to the hotel before 4am! Dehydration and dodgy late night Doner kebabs probably didn't help!
We enjoyed the area that The Beach Club is situated, it's great for a truly beach holiday. Unfortunately, the nightlife in the Playa Mar area isn't great. Apart from finding a great Welsh Bar - The Victoria Inn near Hotel Parasol (well worth a visit)(their web address is www.the-vic-torremolinos.co.uk), we found the immediate vicinity a little dull for nightlife.
We would take a taxi to La Nogalera (7 euros) where the nightlife is livelier. Bars and clubs up there stay open until daylight!
In summary, we found the good things about the hotel to be:
Cleanliness
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff,
Fresh new towels daily.
Quiet rooms, carpeted walkways
We found the less good things to be:
Wearing a wristband to indicate all inclusive status. It can't be taken off and outside the hotel, this advertises "I'm on a package holiday, please mug me". Key cards could eliminate this danger.
Internet Access - 1 euro for 10 minutes is exorbitant, you can get an hour for 1.5 euros in most internet cafes.
The pillows were long sausages, very strange and quite uncomfortable.
The lifts - old, creaky, scary and a bunfight to get into them at busy times.
All in all this hotel suited what we wanted from our holiday and we'd probably stay there again if we wanted a quiet beach holiday without much nightlife.

Submitted By: Mrs DA PURDYNobody in our party got "the bug" although my brother did get stomach pains for a couple of days.
food very nice. does get a bit samey after a few days, but very plentiful and you can eat near enough whenever you want to, right upto midnight. cleanliness is good, and the staff are ammongst the friendliest people in spain. We had our 2 and a half year old daughter with us, they love kids and made such a fuss over her, and indeed us all.
would definately recommend this hotel to anyone, great value for money and the rooms get cleaned every day via maidservice.
they do need a few more facilities for smaller children though, and that is my only critisism, well that and the fact you spend alot of time waiting for the lifts, as there are 10 floors, but the views are worth the wait.Try to get a room on the left sie as you look at te hotel, as these get the sun nearly all day.

Submitted By: Mrs L WelchLAST TIME WE WENT WAS IN JUNE/JULY 2007 N WAS HIT BYE THE DREADED SICKNESS BUG
THERE WAS 4 ADULTS N 2 CHILDREN N ONLY 3 OF US CAUGHT IT , WHICH I PUT DOWN TO THE FOOD AS IT HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM ALL THE OTHER TIMES I HAVE BEEN
THERE WAS A NEW CHEF N WAS FAR FROM CLEAN IN HIMSELF
I WAS VERY UPSET WHEN I CAUGHT THE BUG AS WE HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED THE HOTEL BEFORE AND WAS THINKING ABOUT GOING BACK THERE BUT SEEING OTHER REPORTS THAT THE BUG IS STILL THERE DONT THINK WE WILL GO AGAIN, I DONT WANT TO WASTE 18OO ON BEING ILL WHEN I CAN GET THAT FOR FREE AT HOME
BUT ON A BETTER NOTE THE HOTEL MANAGEMENT N STAFF ARE GREAT THEY ALL RECONGISE UP EVERY TIME WE GO BACK AND ARE MADE VERY WELCOME
THE ENTERTAINMENT IS ALSO GREAT ,
I WOULD GO BACK IF THE BUG CLEARS UP AND I AGREE WITH OTHERS THEY NEED TO CLOSE IT DOWN FOR A WEEK , AND CALL IN PROFESSIONAL CLEANERS ( THEY CAN AFFORD IT THE PRICES WE ARE CHARGED ) AND GET THE HOTEL BACK TO THE STANDARD WE NOW N LOVED

Submitted By: Miss A EdwardsIn the 4 times we've been, I was ill twice. Out of the 26 members of my party at least a 1/3 rd of us went down with it. Like I said, we did have a great time but this really did put a dampner on things.
REALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ............................ If you do come down with the bug, drink COCA COLA immediately. After the first couple of people went down with the sickness we were told by other holidaymakers to drink the coke, I was one of the lucky ones who caught it in time and believe me, this really does work. It seems the coca cola "de-bugs" you. Don't get me wrong, you still feel a little under the weather but you can cope with that as long as you're not being sick and running to the toilet.
RIGHT.................. down to the hotel. The hotel is very clean and very friendly. The food is definitely the best all inclusive hotel I have ever been to and I go on holiday between 3 and 4 times a year and usually stay all inclusive.
The major downside to this hotel (apart from the obvious.......... the bug) is the entertainment area downstairs. It's fine if you go in the height of the season because the entertainment is then outside but if you go a little out of season then you will find that the entertainment room is absolutely stifling hot. Too hot to actually sit comfortably. Half of the room is smoking and half non smoking (but to be honest they've got this totally back to front because the smoking area is furthest away from the window as possible - you would have thought that they would put the smoking area near the windows that open).
You really need to go to this hotel with an open mind because I think if you are one of the lucky ones who escape the dreaded bug then you will have a great time.
Also bear in mind though that if you go to Torremolinos you will not be in for a lively holiday. The Beach Club is away from the town but even if you were to stay near the town there isn't really a lot to do there. It didn't matter to me because I've got 2 young children, but it would matter to me if I was looking for a lively holiday.
I hope I have covered everything but if not please feel free to email me.

Submitted By: Ms M AlexanderThe hotel was in a good location being right opposite the beach. The weather was lovely, constant at around 70 degrees. We were a party of 6 adults on an all inclusive basis. The staff were quite friendly. The rooms, although basic were clean and towels were changed daily. The restaurant was clean and bright and well presented. The food was good with lots of choice and although not always hot enough, there was a microwave available to heat the food to your own requirement. However, 3 of our party were struck down with the sickness and diarrhoea bug which seemed to be on the increase as the week went on. This bug makes you quite violently ill and feeling unwell for a day or two and I think this really is a cause for concern.
On the whole however, we really enjoyed our holiday, apart from contracting the bug. I agree with the statement given by another holiday maker that the hotel needs to concentrate on health and cleanliness in the kitchens and maybe close for a while in order to obtain a higher level of cleanliness, particularly in food preparation areas.

Submitted By: Mrs Z HillThe staff were lovely and friendly including the reception, waiters, bar staff and cleaning staff. That is the only good comment I could make.
All of us fell ill on different days with a violent bug; meaning 4 out of our 7 day holiday was spoilt. When I fell ill and was unable to get out bed, there were no facilities for the children or supervision and therefore they had to stay in the room with me. Despite offering four bedded rooms, the room we had was clearly normally a twin room with two more beds squeezed in. The ceiling the bathroom was black with mould; the ceiling in the sleeping area had holes in it.
Thomsons have stated that 'the illness peaks went up and down on a daily basis' and 'they did not feel it was necessary to pre-advice'.
I would estimate that 90% of people staying at this hotel at the same time as me suffered from the 'bug'. We were told it was a virus on the Costa del Sol but the other local hotels did not appear to have the same problem!

Submitted By: Mrs Jenny LeddyWe booked for a week of winter sun and for rest and relaxation before Christmas we got the rest and relaxation but not the sun. We saw the sun once on arrival and the rest of the week was windy and wet! This was however outside of Thomsons control unfortunately.
The hotel was great it was right on the seafront with views of the sea when lying in bed. The beds were really comfy and we had some great night’s sleep and siestas. The rooms were big and spacious with loads of storage.
The food (all inclusive) was out of this world with a display of sweets to die for. There was a wide choice of hot and cold foods with grills, pizza, pasta, salads, fish, and roast meats every day.
The all inclusive drinks were practically anything you could have wanted and by the end of the week I was cream liquered out! I ate a taste of almost everything and what I didn't have my husband did, we also had ice in drinks and not one of us or anyone else we talked to had 'the bug' reported in a lot of reviews about this hotel.
The local bus service stopped outside the hotel and we spent our week walking, visiting places using the bus and once went on the train to a market. All were loads cheaper to use than in England. Some local shops were open and almost all of those in Torremolinos were.
I would recommend a winter break to anyone. We have come back less stressed, calm and ready for Christmas!

Submitted By: Miss L SmithMyself and a few others in our party suffered with sickness and diahorrea bug which we think was due to the food been undercooked. Although there was a good selection of food (salads, starters, mains, pizza bar, and desert).
This hotel is good value for money and we all had a lovely time apart from the bug.

While the hotel itself is ok, the staff friendly and the food well presented, I must state that there is definately a problem at the hotel with the dreaded sickness/diarrhoea bug/virus.
We were perfectly healthy leaving the UK, however on Day 2 of our holiday, I became infected with the "virus"and its effects lasted with me for a few days.
Day 4 of our holiday, my wife became infected and she is still suffering from it's side effects. She has arranged an appointment with our GP for later today.
Obviously, what this meant is that we were unable to use any of the luxery's that you pay the extra for with an all inclusive holiday. i.e we couldn't face food, and alchohol was certainly out of the question!! Only thing we could face was bottled mineral water.
We were not the only couple who had suffered from this infection. Our room was on the 10th floor overlooking the pool, and the people staying in our adjacent rooms had also suffered from the effects of the bug. We also saw people being taken off to hospital in ambulances for treatment from the effects of this "bug".
We made out a report of our incident with the hotel manager. He was very sympathetic, and informed us about "drinking flat Coke" to help speed up recovery.
Would I recommend this hotel?
Well the staff are friendly, evening entertainment ok, dailey entertainment ok, meals looked to be ok and varied, but until this bug has been eradicated from this hotel, then the answer is definately NO.
