Very nice apartment clean and tidy, we had a great view of the pool which was just outside our room on the ground floor which had a small terrace. Facilities were good and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly at all times.
We had a car so was able to get to more places than if you had to travel by bus as this hotel is a bit of a walk to the main places you might go to at night ie restaurants, bars and the Grand Plaza Mall for bowling and big mac's. All in all a weeks accom for 3 people at only 200euros we could not fault the hotel at all.

Apartments were clean, pool area safe, and in a good location. Only a 10minute gentle stroll would take you into the main resort area and just across the road from the supermarket and beach.
Request a pool view if possible otherwise you will be looking onto the main road which can be noisy, bin men at 2am etc.
The down side to the apartments was that there was not enough sunbeds for the amount of people staying and many people would leave their towels, reserving beds whilst going out for a few hours, which caused friction, as the receptionist would take the British guests towels off but not the Spanish guests who were having a siesta.
The restaurant served mainly local dishes, as did the pool bar which wasn’t really suitable for kids. The last 2 weeks in August was the main Spanish holiday so there were a lot of Spanish people staying at the apts and in the resort. In the resort it there were few good quality restaurants and mainly tapas bars which if you have kids is not brilliant.
However the Miramar across the road from the apts by the beach served good quality food.
Theo’s bar is a good night out where you can meet other holidaymakers and have a laugh.
The waterpark is not worth going to in Almeria if you like lots of big slides. There was only 6 slides, pool, and a wave pool for older children, not enough to keep you there for the day. I have had holidays in many different countries but found the locals in Almeria the least friendly which many of the people staying in our apartments also found.
Even when trying to use their language they didn’t really want to know you or make the effort to try and converse.
Although we had a relaxing holiday I wouldn't go back as feel as if I have seen everything there is to see and do.

When I arrived at the apartments I thought they looked nice but as soon as I got booked in and settled down I found it a bore I was only there for a week and after 3 days I wanted to come home.
Out of the week we had one decent night out which was at the hotel opposite there’s a nightclub in the basement of it which is really good. I wouldn’t recommend this holiday to young people or those with families I would recommend this to the older generation of 50yrs and over! There’s noting for young children to do and there is no kids club or anything in the apartments.
The apartments are clean but the trouble is the floor in the bathroom it’s not good for disabled people as its very slippery and could cause injury.

Been to Almeria 7 times staying at various apartments.
When we arrived at Estrella we were very happy with reception, booking in was fast and easy. Our apartment was ground floor and we had a patio leading onto the pool area which was excellent.
We soon got to know the staff who were brilliant the bar staff and receptionist (José) couldn’t do enough for us. The deal in the bar was we learnt more Spanish and they learnt more English which was certainly entertaining.
The apartments, reception, pool area, bar & restaurant were spotless and we couldn’t ask for more. We ate in numerous places including flamingoes, which was excellent value for money and the m25 bar offered good quality cheap meals. Jackie and staff are friendly and will help you with anything they can - i.e. best restaurants, markets, karaoke’s etc, etc.
For a good old fry up we used the minors where Brian and Carol always offer a good welcome.
Am going back in June, staying at Estrella again but rather than tour operator got a great deal through holiday nights for accommodation and Easyjet for flights. Cant wait to see all the staff again, great place all round...

This was one of the best holiday’s we have had as a Family. We had been to the Costa Almeria in 1988 when our daughter was just a year old.
We decided as she was leaving school to go to collage how fitting it would be if we went back to this area of Spain as it would probably be the last time that she would holiday with us as a family. When looking at holiday broachers we always try and choose some where with no more than about 100 apartments.
We like to go self catering as we enjoy eating out and meeting new people as well as sampling the different types of food on offer also you are garneted a fridge and kettle. The first thing we noticed about the apartments was how clean they were and well maintained. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bar and food area was ran by a Spanish family who were all very pleasant and friendly.
The food was good and they had a good menu. One of the best things about these apartments and the resort was they still have the Spanish tradition of serving Tapas with a drink. This was great at lunch time when it was getting to hot and you just fancied a coffee or a pint then you could either sit inside or at the poolside bar order a drink and they would bring you Tapas.
Like many people we didn’t feel like eating in the heat and the portion of Tapas you were given was just enough to tide us over until we went out later in the evening to one of the many restaurants.
There were a lot of Spanish staying at the apartments, which was great because at 2.00pm every day they would go for their siesta, which left about 6 British families to enjoy the pool. It was like having your own pool and we could play water games without worrying about jumping on very young children.
Another benefit was the pool didn’t open until 10.00 am each day so there was no scraping of sun loungers at 7.00am as people got the best spot or put their towel on a lounger to make sure that they got one. This was so refreshing and also so relaxing. You could get up, chill out, have breakfast, have a stroll or go to shop and still you would know that when you went down to the pool you would be able to get a lounger no problem and if you couldn’t get one then so what at 2.00pm there would be plenty as the Spanish went off for their siesta.
There are some English bars popping up in the resort which was great for our 17 year old daughter as all the local British teenagers would meet up with the new teenage holiday makers and take them under their wings and show them what to do and what not to do and where all the best places to go are. This was the first time our daughter had been given this much independence abroad and she had the best time and we knew who she was with and where they were going.
There are loads of restaurants to choose from, Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and of cause Spanish. One of the best restaurants was Flamingos, if you ever go here don’t eat all day the amount of food and drinks you are given is unbelievable. You start to think that you will get charged for everything that is being put on your table but ho no you only pay for what you have ordered. So you order a 1-course meal each with a bottle of wine and a couple of drinks which you get charged for. You end up with 3 courses each, aperitif, free drinks and peach schnapps to finish you off. Can you eat it all, no but its great fun trying and the guy who owns it is great. If you miss your Sunday lunch whilst abroad then visit the Southern bar who do excellent English food but you will have to book as the premises are only small.
We enjoyed the apartments so much that we are trying to book them again for 2006 but we are not having much luck as no one seems to have them in their broachers yet.
WORST THING
Dependant on the time of year that you go this area of Spain does have a problem with flies. they drive you nuts. Come the end of June all the polythene is taken off all the greenhouses so the flies have to find somewhere else to go. So that’s what they do but they go into all the towns.
We never had any in the apartments and our doors were open all day and night but they do land on you whilst you lie around the pool which does become annoying. They get worse as everywhere begins to start cooling off, not that it ever gets that cool, at around 06.30pm. If you can avoid eating before 9.00pm or eat indoors where they have air conditioning or sit under the ceiling fans.

I have just returned from a short stay at the Estrella apartments in Roquetas. This was the first trip abroad for myself and my husband with our young family 3yr and 1yr which I was nervous about. I was slightly worried that the Estrella was only a 2 star apartment but my fears were definitely unfounded. The apartment was clean and spacious. We had been alloacted a corner room by the manager as she thought that the extra room in the bedroom would help with 4 of us. The manager was also keen to help in anyway possible, making sure that we had plenty of towels and bedding and that the TV worked. The only bad thing I can say about the actual apartment was that there was no kettle.....that's an English person for you!
The location was great, very quiet in the evening and only a 15 minute walk with youngsters to the resort centre (we only felt need to go here once). The beach opposite the apartment was very clean and had a great play area for the kids.
Definitely recommended!
