I was at this hotel for two weeks in july 2006 and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They would always greet you when you entered or left the building. When we first arrived at the hotel, there were gentlemen who took our suitcases into the reception area where we... more

This hotel isn't 4 stars.
Only the accomodation is a 4 star hotel. The food was almost the same during our 10 days and what wasn't eaten in the mornig came back at lunch our dinner.
The all incl has must restrictions in time. The staff speaks hardly english but is friendly.
The pool is to small and aged.

This hotel does not in our opinion qualify for its 4* rating..its reception areas although clean and comfortable are very basic..the rooms are okay and the views are fabulous. Having stayed in many 4* hotels this one was disapointing. The food was very much of a muchness... more

Playa Bonita is a super hotel. All bedrooms have a sea view with 2 queen sized beds! The food is excellent, the only problem being that you don't have a 'fixed ' table, so that if you arrive in the dining room at a busy time, you may have to hunt down a free table! The... more

fantastic holiday
Stayed at this hotel second week in june, what a fantastic hotel great rooms double beds with sea views. We went all inclusive and used room card to sign for everything, bailys, southern comfort and j+b all included. This is a international hotel with people coming from all over europe including spanish, and everyone staff included were nice.Food was very good a wide range and show cooking steaks, fish, pasta.A little remote but free bus and local bus stop outside hotel. We will be going back .
brilliant half term vacation
We are two families of 3 who stayed here at the playabonita during half term (end May to beginning of June). Spotless hotel, fantastic sea views from all public areas and bedrooms. Rooms were spacious with lots of storage and two double beds and reasonable balcony. Good security for hotel and pools as you need to use your room swipe card to enter/exit pool as is along public promenade a short but lovely walk from hotel. Food ok once you figure out the fresh cooking bar, but not well geared up for british kids although our 9 year olds got by. Beach towels were provided free of charge for use on beach or pool and you can change them daily if you like. Too far to walk into town or to shops so regular 1/2 hrly bus service is efficient and cheap 1.05 euro each way no concession. The marina is a must to visit ( hotel minibus takes you almost there for free) Would return to this hotel good facilities all round.
nice hotel small pool
My wife and our 2 children stayed here for a week the rooms were lovely and big, with a large balcony. Only thing is we could here the people next door through the walls. Location to the beech is good. But pleaase take the underpath to cross the road/motorway as the hotel is right off the n35 main coast road.If you have not got a car the hotel is a bit out of the way so have to rely on buses plus waiting at the bus stop with cars speeding past you at 100mph.The dissapointing thing is the size off the pool very small so at peak times you have no chance .But overall our stay here was pleasant .
Great hotel
We were in this hotel last summer. The hotel has beautiful view of the sea. The room is nice and comfortable. The bed in the hotel is very very big and super. The food was great. The sea is nice in this part. The big supermarket is quite far - it takes 3 km. But the hotel bus is free. The train station is near playa bonita.
Been four times, going again this year!!
We have stayed in this hotel four times now and are heading out again this summer!! Upon arrival you are checked in quickly by the English speaking staff at reception. The rooms have 2 double beds, a mini bar/fridge, TV, air conditioning, lovely bathroom with bath and shower and balcony with sea views. The private man made beaches are a matter of yards from the ground floor exit of the hotel and a 2 minute walk takes you to the gated pool area, where there is a security guard on patrol in high season, lifeguards and a bar which provides ice cream, burgers, baguettes, toasties, beer/alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea, soft drinks etc. Entry to the pool is by the room keycard, ensuring only hotel residents get in. The restaurant caters for everyone, definately great for fussy eaters!! Dress code for dinner only requests that men wear long trousers, we've always went to breakfast ready for the pool with shorts & t-shirts!! The hotel has a shop, hairdressers and money/travellers cheques can be exchanged at reception. Rooms are always clean with the maids coming in daily. Pool towels are available from reception free of charge and are swapped for fresh ones on request. There is an indoor pool aswell for when its too hot. Nightly entertainment is provided at the hotel at the beach bar, with a mini disco at 2130 for kids and adult entertainment afterwards, whether it be a show put on by hotel staff or flamenco dancing, live music, magic shows etc. If you'd rather have a quiet drink there is a bar just across from reception at the other end of the hotel. A short taxi ride takes you to the hustle and bustle of Benalmadena town centre for those in pursuit of a more lively evening!! Staff are always pleasant, especially toward children! There is also a kids club which is run by the hotel staff during the day! All in all an excellent 5* hotel which I would recommend to everyone!!
Great Place To Stay
Great place to stay, Beach right on doorstep, Outdoor pool etc No need to take Beach towels they are at reception. Food was Ok but theres a lot of choice. Best go All Inclusive works out cheaper. Theres the bus stops just outside the hotel as it is too far to walk to thee nearest resort, but we have booked to stay here again, so we must love this place, theres alot of different people staying here from different countrys but dont let that put you off its a good holiday, very clean here, I would say 5***** perfect for relaxing on the beach, or just catch the bus outside to go shopping we done both.
superb hotel
this is a fabulous hotel with all bedrooms overlooking the sea. the food was great, lots of choice and breakfast cooked to order! no need to take your beach towels, they supplied them for you at reception and you just returned them when you had finished. this hotel, however, is 'out on a limb', they do put on some free transport through the day, but if like my husband and myself you like to go somewhere for a drink in the evening, you will need to use public transport! there is a little train station up the hill [which some guests have no idea about as it's not broadcast!] within a few minutes you can be in arroya de la miel which is at the top of benalmadena and has lots of lovely bars [some of which are in hiding!] and then you can gradually work your way down towards benalmadena itself, although i loved the hotel i would probably not return there as i prefer to be in walking distance of the nightlife!
Not as I expected but Ok
This hotel looked better on paper, but the location is to say the least difficult. We had thought we would have been nearer to the Zoo in Fungirola but it took us about 2.5hours, with the right info we could have been there in 30minutes but could not find the info.. Caberets in Benalmadena same thing.. The information is not available and can´t find assistance when we wanted it. The rooms were fine and very clean and well serviced and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The beach was some what lacking: it sort out gives off that unnatural feeling and this is evident through the product, the food was very good but the service like the beach.
Over rated
Myself, partner and 2 children stayed for 2 weeks in August and having read previous experiences on Trip Advisor I thought we were in the wrong hotel! Good points - sea front location. Hotel is isolated but we expected that and the local bus and train service was very good. Food - ok, not better or worse than any other spanish hotel - certainly wouldnt rave about it though. Kids disco each evening was enjoyable for them. Few of the staff were ok - one girl on reception, 2 on the poolside bar and the male lifeguard was great with the kids. Bad points - rooms smaller than we expected. Safe broke twice and had to repeatedly ask for them to reset it so we could access our money! One day the maid didnt tidy the room - had to chase up. Staff NEVER apologise for anything. Guests are primarily Spanish and the hotel definitely caters for that. Children tried kids clubs but couldnt understand what was going on as hotel reps catered for spanish children. Evening entertainment was dire (my 7 year old enjoyed a couple of the shows which were aimed at adults). Restaurant serving area is much too small for that many people. If you go at peak times, expect to queue to get in - and then fight your way through for food. Meat, eggs, fish etc are cooked while you wait - which means its freshly cooked but you have to wait in a queue for it. We were half board but many all inclusive people complained about the restrictions on certain areas at certain times. Swimming pool and pool area small for amount of guests - think they bank on people using beach. Pool area VERY noisy except at siesta time! The weather was great, and we had trips out to Gibralter, the cable car, Torremolinos market, Benelmadena and Marbella (any of which I would recommend to get away from the entertainment)! I think the main thing we noticed was the overall atmosphere in the hotel. Everyone looked pretty miserable. At other hotels we have been to the staff are always friendly and other holiday makers are too, but having spoken to several other english families we were all of the same opinion, it was not a happy, friendly hotel. I have not left a review on any other hotel before but felt I needed to put across our experience to balance up the other reviews!
total relaxation
The rooms are all to a high standard and have a good veiw of the coastline and were cleaned daily. The hotel is of the highest quality, the staff in all areas are courteous and very good with children. The majority of the staff speak english. The all inclusive is a little confusing as you sign for everything using a credit card, but don't worry it is all included and you only pay for ice creams and a few drinks. The food in the resturant was very good, there was a lot of variety and most meat was show cooked. The outdoor pool was enclosed which is excellent if you have children as they can not wander too far. The indoor pool made a lovely change when it was too hot and both pools had life guards at all times. It is more suited to families than young couples as it is a long walk to the town centre. Overall an excellent hotel.
