Booked 8 nights, paid extra to book a view, when we got there we didnt like the apt, so upgraded to another, with a better view, paid nearly half as much again. Staff very nice, everyone very helpful, towels changed every 2 days and sheets every 4. Aircondition didnt work, complained and they fixed it,but it was the same.a sewage smell most days in apt.no one knows why?
breakfast very nice, fab views after the upgrade, just too expensive, sun loungers 2.50euro a day, thought that was bad, but beach sunbeds belonging to the hotel 4.50euro a day.
felt we paid enough money to warrent a sunbed by the pool free, seems a bit mean.a electric kettle cost 35euro for week, thought that was mean too.

  • Advice: Be prepared to have to pay for basics

Stayed for 3 nights at the Sol Timor in May and couldn't believe how close it was to the beach and to the marina. The hotel is basic and the reception staff vary in their moods, but thats Spanish for you. Ate breakfast one morning and i was absolutely fine and I am fussy. Didnt make any use of the pool area but it looked absolutely fab and great for children.

  • Advice: Dpnt go there, stick to Benalmadena side

There is NO air-conditioning.
The showers are worst we ever experienced.
There was no kettle in the apt. you had to rent one. we had to pay to use the car park which was part of the complex.
The apts are dated and not comfortable.
We have two small kids and were put on the 9th floor where the wall on the balcony is not to high. Very Dangerous for small kids.
The lifts are very small we just about fitted our double buggie in it, good job it was a three wheeler otherwise it would not have fitted.
We were mostly at the baby pool which was not maintained the whole week we were there it was full of sand a small pebbles.
We would go back to Tormolinous but would never stay in Sol Timor Apts again.

This is located in Montemar area of Torremolinos. The hotel is great for kids - has a Flintstones theme. It is a little bit dated decor wise however not scruffy just more traditional. We went self catering and love the surrounding areas - in particular Carihuela. It is 5 minutes easy walk to Benalmadena port. This area - all along Carhuela and Montemar is all flat along the coast and more traditional Spanish - however there is a few Irish bars outside the hotel and karaoke. Overall brilliant and I am going back in September. This hotel is a stones throw from beach - rooms are sea facing and it has lovely gardens. Gardens lead straight onto promenade.

The apartment was basic and very dated although clean. Was appalled that you had to pay to sit by the pools, no free sunbeds, wasn't prepared to pay to sit in a hotel complex i had already paid for so we had sunbeds on the beach which is 1 min from the hotel. Hotel bar area got a little rowdy during the late afternoon / early evening as they have a happy hour and some people just don't know when they have had enough. Resort is nice but not fully open in Oct many bars and shops are shut. Marina area is fantastic especially at night when all lit up and its a lovely stroll along the promenade and you can get some bargains as most of the shops that are open have sales during October as the resort shuts. I will go back to belamadena but will not stop at the timorsol but at the aloha puerto next door which is a much more upmarket hotel and the pool area is spotless, quiet and the apartments are nice and modern and the sunbeds are free and there is little difference in the price

I stayed at the Timor Sol Hotel last summer and really enjoyed it, it is right on the beach which itself has lovely clean sand, a variety of watersports activities and lots of little souvenir shops.
The hotel is only 5mins walk away from Benalmadena Harbour (which has been vastly improved), 5-10mins walk from the 24 hour Square and is situated on Montemar (a road full of pubs, restaurants and shops) the hotel itself has an hairdressers, laundrette, supermarket and gift shop.
The food is ok and the general facilities are good. It has 2 large pools and plenty of sunbathing space.
The location of this hotel is its main selling point your no more than 10 minutes walk away from anywhere you'll need to go, if you do want to go further afield 2 minutes walk there’s a bus that runs from Malaga right down to Marbella stopping in every town.

I would advise anyone with kids to visit the Sol Timor apartments. We spent 2 wonderful weeks there in June/July 2006 and can't wait to get back (our group of 9 ranging in age from 15 months right up to 52)
The apartments are basic but very clean with cleaning ladies calling frequently with fresh towels and bed linen etc. On arrival, although we had asked for a cot, it was not in our apartment and when we requested it from Reception and went for a bite to eat (at approx 12 midnight) we really didn't expect the cot to be in the apartment when we got back but it was. Staff were friendly and efficient at all times.
We stayed around the beautiful pool area a lot of days and it is SO SAFE for families with small toddlers as there is no easy access to any road or street with traffic from the pool area, only the beautiful promenade (along the gorgeous sandy beach) which is pedestrian only and filled with restaurants including Burger King. The sun-beds have to be paid for at the pool area but at 2.50 per day who could complain. There was many activities for young and old (football, water polo and a kids club for the little ones) although we didn't partake. The pool bar serves nice snacks during the day (hotdogs, toasties etc and all taste so much more delicious after a swim or even just a half a day basking in the gorgeous costa del sol sunshine)
Nearby is LIDL - very handy for self-catering supplies and water. We took a walk up there on our very first day and stocked up. There is also a small shop on the grounds of the apartments for essentials or snacks.
We went on little day trips while in Benalmadena, including a trip to Gibraltor which included a boat trip to see Dolphins and also a trip up the Rock of Gibraltor in a mini bus to see the colony of apes living there (do not bring ANY sweets or handbag and they are known to jump on people and can give a person a fair old fright - believe me!!!!). There is also tax free shopping in Gibraltor so we stocked up on whiskey, cigs and perfume while there! :-) We also spent an evening in Tivoli world (got a little train up to it from over near the Marina - kids will love this) Went to Sea-World down by the Marina and took a lovely boat trip (again from the Marina) to Fuengirola and visited the lovely zoo there. There is also a Dunnes Stores in the heart of Fuengirola (if you're mossin home a lot why not pop in for a spree)
One restaurant we frequented (went there twice and got a take-away from there another evening - that's frequent isn't it?!) was a little Chinese not far from the Sol Timor. (on the left, up some steps!) The value for money in that place was astounding and the staff were more than obliging. A lovely few touches like free sweets and fans for the ladies and peach shnapps after our meal etc added to the experience in this restaurant. Another nice place was the Spanish Gardens, beautiful food, little bit more pricey in comparison with other places but still nothing near what you'd pay at home - but I personally could not enjoy it as toddler was running wild - would be more suitable for families with older children or couples to enjoy. Food delicious though!
In the evenings we stayed at the complex and enjoyed the entertainment laid on for the guests. the smaller kids absolutely LOVED this as there was a kiddies disco. The older kids enjoyed watching some of the football on the big screen also in the bar and there was also a games room for the older kids/teenagers.
The only downfall as I'm sure is the case with most resort apartment complezes was the food. The buffet style food (pizzas/chips/sea food) did absolutely nothing for ANY of our group so after trying it once we just enjoyed exploring all the other great restaurants Benalmadena had on offer! :-)
All in all a wonderful holiday and I can't wait to get back to the Sol Timor in 2008!

This was the third year we had stopped at Sol Timor apartments. Other two years we had booked through Thomson.
With booking direct they had took into account our request of not being on the top two floors - can be very windy or on the left hand side of the building by the Irish bar, which can be noisy.
Staff remember you and treat you well. Rooms are clean and bed and towels are changed on a regular basis. Beds are a little uncomfortable but for a value for money holiday, you cannot beat the Sol Timor apartments.
Plenty to see and do around with plenty of variety of eating places. lidl is very handy if you want to eat in.

Stayed here last summer for a week was a bit shocked on arrival its quite basic.
The room wasn't prepared before we arrived, the fridge wasn't plugged in and there was water all over the floor but the staff were very quick to clean up.
Not a place for a relaxing holiday full of kids, but it’s a nice resort right beside the beach which is beautiful! There’s a lidl about 5 mins up the road for very cheap groceries! Night life is excellent definitely suitable for a young couple!
BE CAREFUL of the Spanish gypsies trying to distract you with carnations and rob your cash from your wallet without you realising just walk away if they approach you!
We nearly got robbed, only that we were warned of them we knew what they were at!
Overall a nice holiday, just don't be prepared for luxury!

The hotel had excellent views of the Med and there are lovely balconies. The pool was nice and there were sun-beds available free of charge.
It is 5 minutes from the beach front and there is a small supermarket in the main building. Internet access is available. In your room your towels are changed and bed made up every 2 days.
The only real problem in my room was there was no air conditioning and the walls are paper thin. If you are young and will be out partying most of the night then the Sol Timor is perfect. Not suitable for the older generation or young families.

Really good clean basic place to stay. Amazing location. We were so lucky, our balcony view was overlooking the pool, gardens and the sea and marina!! It was absolutely magical!! Especially at night!
Went in April, ok weather, had some hot days!! But a couple of cloudy ones as well. You can go for gorgeous walks alongside the beach, walk up and down by the huge boats and to the lighthouse.
Plenty of restaurants to choose from. The hotel rooms were good size and very clean.
The pool is a good size, and as we were out of season slightly was quite quiet but nice and relaxing! I would recommend going self catering in a place like this because of the huge variety of places to eat and drink in the Marina! The Marina is gorgeous!
I would go back to Sol Timor is I wanted another budget holiday, it is a good place to stay.
