Baia Grande Hotel reviews
Jun 2004, Miss L Little

The hotel itself was very well presented if not a bit old fashioned. It was quite a walk away from any local amenities (the hotel gift shop does not sell any bottled drinks etc, all these have to be bought from the hotel bar) or other restaurants and about 8 euros in a taxi... more

Just what we wanted
from Dazz83
Me and my girlfriend booked 4 nights at the Baia Grande looking for a nice relaxing week in the sun and that is exactly what we got. The hotel is very clean, the staff were excellent especially the reception staff who were always very helpful. Ask for a map when you arrive which proved very useful and showed us where the local beaches were. The outdoor pool is very cold but you do get used to it and it can be refreshing after a long day in the sun. We did not eat in the main restaurants of the hotel but we did have breakfast which...

A Little Remote but Good Accomodation
from Russ-and-Lynne
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We booked a hire car for the entire holiday which we picked up at the arirport and dropped it off prior to checking in on our departure which saved us the £60 transfer charge. The reception staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for them, they even found us a temporary room for a couple of days because our tour operator "forgot" to book us into the hotel and they didn't have a sea view room as we'd requested (and paid for) for a couple of days, we'll be taking this up...

Quiet Quality
from GregoryEK
My wife and I have just spent a fantastic week at this fabulous hotel. Firstly I should say that we were looking for a VERY relaxing break and wanted to be away from the busy resort centre. The Baia Grande proved an excellent choice. The hotel is remote and you have very little on your door step. If, like us, you like to explore your surroundings then you will find some beautiful coves with stunning beaches and on most a quiet beach front bar/retsaurant over looking the ocean. The Hotel was spottlessly clean and our sea view room on floor 3...

Wouldn't go back
from Looby2000
Nice hotel, very clean but you have to pay for everything. Even the little shop connected to the hotel does not sell drinks so you have to buy from the bar. No tea or coffee making facilities in room, so if like me you can't do anything before your first cuppa, you'll find it a bind having to get up, washed & dressed before your first slurp! Pool area was excellent but staff could have been more friendly. Shuttle bus was convenient but could have done with just one more leaving for old town around 8.00pm. If you decide to book this...

Great Hotel
from RoyalGale
Great hotel, stayed over the May day bank holiday with 7 other girls on a hen weekend. The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly. The buffet breakfast was great and the pool was nice, mind you to cold to get in this time of year. Would recommend to anyone. A little away from the town centre but easy to get a taxi to the Old Town or the Strip if you want a lively night out. Beach lovely to, overall a great experience.
Spring in Portugal
from Pinchy
Just come back from 10 days at the Baia Grande. We booked a taxi through their website to pick us up from the airport, this was charged to our room. We enjoyed the hotel, plenty to eat at breakfast (could have been a bit more varied), with friendly and efficient staff. The air con in the bedrooms was very good. We paid for a pool view, which was really nice. There weren't too many places to eat close by, we went to a local one which wasn't too good and quite expensive. The hotel provides a shuttle bus into Albufeira a few times a...

Very Clean
from przibram
We stayed one night in July 2006 and were so impressed we returned in March 2007 for 8 days. I agree with other reviewers who have been impressed with how clean the Hotel is. What is always welcome is real fruit juice at breakfast. The food was really good and well presented. We were on half-board and this was amazing value in March because it is classed as Low Season but the weather was excellent. I swam in the superb outdoor pool every day although it was a bit cold because of it being so early in the year. The indoor pool is a bit small...

Nice, but not "Something Special"
from AMMDublin
I booked this hotel after reading the reviews on here and seeing the hotel included within the "Something Special" range offered by Budget Travel (Ireland). Unfortunately I think some of the reviews here are really over-generous! Although we had reserved and paid for a sea view room, when we arrived the hotel advised that there had been a mistake and we spent the first night of our holiday in a cramped, dingy room looking out onto the carpark. We also got no sleep because the room was on the ground floor next to the piano bar. The hotel...

Ideal for a short break
from belcoo
Just had a two day stay at Baia Grande - 4th time there but on business. Caters best for leisure traveller and has nice facilities in Vale de Parra area. Easy to get to Albufeira and go BB because some really nice restaurants close by (even walkable). Rooms are large but go for pool view as that also gives you a sea view too. Otherwise you get a garden view or car park view - ok on business - not ok for a vacation. Immaculately clean - great service especilly reception and bar. Highly recommended.
4 Star holiday, 4 Star Hotel!!
from jimbar
Just returned from a week at the Baia Grande and could find little if anything to fault this superb hotel on, bearing in mind it is January and not the middle of the holiday season, In terms of location when you book you can see it is not middle of the town, and a car does help, however the location does offer a peaceful holiday in a superb location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room with a pool/sea view was spacious and very clean and breakfast was more than adequate with an excellent choice across the board. We...
