Just came back from Koala Garden Suites, fantastic accommodation in central location for Playa del Ingles and Meloneras.
Food was very good and bungalows are quite a large size. Staff at hotel were very good and were always up for having a laugh.
We went as a family with teenagers and found that they were really well catered for, especially with the waterpark nearby.

Well, well, well, I am glad not to have read the reviews on this page before I went or I might never have got on the plane. Arrived at 12.30PM and was directed to Zone 5 and how good was that.
The accommodation was excellent, 2 x double beds in room and good quality lounge space overlooking the balcony and the pool. I took my own towels from previous experience (not at this location) and didn't need them as the towels were dark blue with a Koala on them and of good quality not paper thin there was also a fresh bar of soap. Large bathroom with separate bath and shower in good condition.
The kitchen is in a cupboard yes, but then who goes on holiday and needs to do a full dinner each night?? There was a toaster, kettle and a coffee machine as well as a fridge all in excellent condition. A full range of dishes was also there for the dinner party people to use, mind you might need to buy a bottle opener.
The television was mostly Spanish and German so what, CNN was there and it was in English. Let me think just short of £400 for a week in the sun and a couple of flights, the apartments got the equivalent of £10 a night what can you expect. Had a great time and look forward to my next visit. I will also be realistic in my expectation.

We went in Oct 2006 and enjoyed it a lot! I really do not understand the nerve of some people saying that it was rubbish. Just because they think that its rubbish doesn’t make it rubbish.
When we arrived it was late at night at 1am and we settled in very quickly. The apartments were clean and well looked after. When we got up the next day we went straight to the pool side and had some lovely Spanish sun. We were not expecting there to be so many Germans. We found a few English couples within the holiday who agreed with us over how clean and comfortable the apartment and hotel was and also agreed with us that there were too many Germans.
The waiters were amazingly happy and were very helpful and quick with the ordering of people’s food and drink. We had only one day of rain which was very unlucky for us as on the canaries rain is VERY rare. When it rained for that day we had to cope with running out of towels due to the apartment getting flooded by water flowing underneath the patio doors and front door. The maids rushed to help us with the towel situation and come round an hour later to replace our towels. Very good holiday so far. Room was very limited as kitchen was the size of a cupboard.
On the last day we went to the beach only to find that the stormy wet day had washed the whole of the beach away!! There was a gigantic cove and mud everywhere! Ruined the beach for few months I think. So please if you do go you must know that the beach that has the easiest access via free morning coaches has gone basically and won’t be back to normal for maybe a year so please be aware.
Overall the holiday was amazing and don’t worry about stolen money etc because the rooms have an excellent security card system. Also don’t worry about creepy crawlies - we only had one. Again it was brilliant and we had a great time.
Enjoy.

After reading previous comments I think that maybe some people were expecting 5* luxury from 3* accommodation.
We are literally home 1 day and can’t wait to go back. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful without exception. Although that probably would depend on your attitude to them in the first place, ignorance deserves ignorance!
Overall a fantastic holiday, beautiful island with plenty to do all within easy reach though obviously not for those who can’t be bothered to move from the poolside and expect everyone else to make their entertainment for them.
Any holiday is what you make of it and Koala Gardens is definitely a good starting point.
Enjoy your holiday!

Where do I start, arrived at allocated room zone 1. Wasn’t happy with the room not because it was dirty but it was beside a restaurant and we wanted quiet, went to reception and ask for a move no problem but it would be Monday, that was ok, decided not to take a safe as we arrived on sat and to move on Monday, we didn’t take a safe how sorry were we. Within 3 hours of arrival we had money stolen from our room while we were sunbathing, next to our apartment, it was our fault we should have taken a safe so please take a safe doesn’t matter how long your there because as we reported, they said we should have taken a safe and they didn’t care. We did at our new apartment.
We thought koala was clean no cockroaches to be seen, the entertainment was very poor, thank god I wasn’t all inclusive. And our welcome meeting was just an advertisement for ANFI DE MAR don’t be conned they give 42 euros off any trip u choose with AIRTOURS, but they don’t tell u its trying to sell you a timeshare you know watt they say you get nothing for nothing.
No air conditioning, sorry we did, but it was crap, was nothing more than disgraceful and sat TV was in GERMAN no ENGLISH didn’t say that in the internet koala caters for Germans which is good for them. I wish AIRTOURS told us that. I won’t be going back.

We arrived at the Koala Garden Suites to find dirty walls and paintwork. We were also greeted by Ants running all over the kitchen worktops and units. I called the reception to report this and they sent a member of staff who handed us a tin of Ant repellent. We also had cockroaches in the bathroom, the shower was filthy not to mention the shower head was broken. I opened the wardrobe doors one evening to fine hundreds of Ants running all through our clothing.
The apartments were cleaned five times one week and four times on our second week but the housekeeper was in and out of the room in seconds so you can imagine the cleanliness of the place. I wasn't expecting lavish but basic cleanliness would have done.
Holiday World was a few yards from the apartments which had the theme park and a few eating areas as to where I had an ant running through my meal. We did discover Taxis were only between 3-4 euro to take us around the Island as to which we did every night. The other people we spoke to at the apartments had the same to say as us and vowed as we did never to return to the Koala Garden Suites again. One experience of that place was enough.

These are very basic apartments and not very clean our floor on the first night had a huge ball of someone’s hair on the floor. There are six zones in all we were in zone 1 which was all English people. But we did notice that zone 2 was mainly all German and Spanish which had two big pools and a stereo with music of course we had nothing.
Nothing to do within walking distance apart from holiday world which after walking round most nights was so boring and of course you spend loads of money. We found taxis cheap into playa del ingles but the food was expensive compared to Tenerife which is where we normally go. Glad to say wont be going back to gran canaria never been so bored in our lives and both my kids hated it.

Me & my boyfriend just came back from the Koala Apts. After reading the reviews I was a bit concerned - for no reason! We arrived & checked in quickly & found our room easily.
We were greeted by a big flying cockroach that bug spray would not kill, but this was the only one we had all holiday. The room and whole hotel was clean, the maids were lovely. The weather was perfect-average 36 degrees every day! Air conditioning in the room was good if you get a second card to keep in the mains all day.
Location is great but you definitely need 2 weeks in Gran Canaria to do everything it offers. Friday night in Sioux City is a must! I recommend you go to the supermarket in the Turbo Club Hotel about 3 mins walk away, it is much bigger & better than the Koala Mini Market.
The only thing I would complain about, is that the septic tank REALLY smells! Unlucky if you stay in a room by it! Even though we weren’t near it we could occasionally smell the distinctive smell of egg in our bathroom & waft over the pool!
Overall it was an excellent holiday!

My husband and two children stayed here for 2 weeks and I really wish we never bothered. There is nothing to do here for children and no entertainment at all. So most evenings we got a taxi into playa Del Ingles about 3 euros to have dinner but to be honest most of the restaurants cater for all Germans. Along the seafront I was horrified to see that all the restaurants were German.
Koala is only 5 minutes away from holiday world a big fun fair and amusement place but this also cost money. We did self catering and found it really hard to find anywhere that did breakfast. Some people we spoke to were all inclusive but they said the food was the same thing everyday and not very good. There are 6 zones in this place we were in zone 1 which was all English people. However we did notice that zone 2 which is the biggest with 2 pools and the kids play area and music was all Spanish or once again German.
For the first 5 days we had no air conditioning so they gave us a fan, after 6 visits to reception to get this sorted they decided to come and repair it for us.
Our accommodation was clean and ok for the two weeks we were there you have to vacate your room by 12pm which was ok for us as we were leaving at 4 o clock to go home but be warned they will not let you keep your room on any longer so if you have a late flight you are hanging around all day. Some people we met had to wait around until 2am the next morning till they were picked up and her husband is registered disabled which I think is disgusting. (Bet if you were German or Spanish you could keep your room on).
Our pool was only cleaned every other day and some days it was filthy not nice for the kids when that’s the only thing for them to do.
Anyway would I go back to Gran Canaria? Never again we much prefer Tenerife which has a lot more to do.

We arrived in the Koala Gardens apartments in August 2006. The room was basic!
The Kitchen was a cupboard that we all thought was a wardrobe and towards the end of the holiday had an odour that we had to hold our breath to get a drink! The kitchen was hard to use as there was no draining board, the cutlery was unclean and there was a plug socket next to the sink!
The bathroom, do not get me started! The shower had loads of flies and was generally un-clean, the bath had many bugs in and had a yellow lining. The towels smelt of sick and made me bork every time I used them and the smell was dreadful! We had to spray it with body spray everyday!
The floor was absolutely disgusting! Whenever you took a step on it, your foot was literally black! The maids and receptionists were friendly! The pool was clean but after a few days, turned murky and you couldn't see your hand in it!
The lifeguards were pretty efficient but some of them fell asleep on the job and didn't tell you off if you dived in even though you weren't allowed!
The location wasn't very good! There was a fabulous holiday world with a theme park and arcades if that is your kind of thing or Faro 2 shopping centre for shopping and meals. I would suggest 'Dusseldorf' steak house.
Overall, I would give the Koala Apartments 6/10.

Had a great time - the room was excellent and there was a maid service every other day - only a couple of cockroaches. Take a bug spray with you and spray on the floor in the evenings to stop this.
Kitchen facilities are basic but were fine for us as we ate out every night and only snacked at the apartment. We were in zone three - very quiet in the evenings - daytime not too bad round the pool - plenty of sun beds and the pool and surrounding areas were cleaned every day.
The reception staff were very helpful and polite. The only draw back was that it was a bit isolated and there was not much to do in the area only 1 shopping centre.
We took taxis everywhere that only cost 4 Euros and went into Playa del Ingles every night to eat. The water park was fantastic for kids - Los Palmitos Park best day out we had all holiday and is well worth a visit. If you’re visiting Aqua Land, you’re best advised to take your own picnic as the food is not too good and very expensive. All in all a fantastic relaxing hot sunny holiday.

I travelled to Gran Canaria with my boyfriend and stayed at Koala Gardens for 1 week.
We really enjoyed our stay although we do have a couple faults with the room that we stayed in; no 259.
The rooms are very spacious which was lovely. However, the kitchen is in a little cupboard and had only 2 hobs to cook on so would not recommend a family to go self catering.
The swimming pool was freezing so not many people were seen in there. My boyfriend loved the water though.
Also, if you go to this hotel you will find a mini market. I will recommend that you check the sell by dates as we brought out of date items e.g.: eggs and bacon which could have made us very ill if we ate it.
Overall, the hotel is good and we would stay again.
PS: Please could you feed the cats.
