Aug 2008, Mr R MCVITTY

Hi,
Apartment nice and clean although towels, sheets etc not changed all week by staff.
Food was not very good. very little to choose from . Breakfast had bacon on only 2 days and mainly suited to Scandinavian type tastes.
No air con in dining area and flies and cats were in abundance. Not very comfortable or clean and we ate out most of the time.
Out of all the half boards we have done in Spain, this has got to be the worst as far as food was concerned.
We also spent a lot on taxis as the location is quite a bit out form the main resort areas.
Won,t be coming back here.Certainly not 4 star as we were told.

Stayed here for a week self catering, nice and clean apartments although very basic, the kitchen is basically a cupboard but so what! Like you go on holiday to cook. We couldn't anyway because we could not find the cutlery or pots and pans anywhere - they were in the television cabinet! Was no cockroaches at all we had our own balcony over looking the pool was quiet but got busier before we left. Mini market is brilliant just a minute away and the faro centre is great for food quite near as is holiday world but that didn't offer much.
Couldn't believe it when we got off the bus, hotel looked in the middle of nowhere, nothing surrounding it but desert looked a bit like mars! Beach is absolutely miles away takes about 1 hour to walk but very pleasant walk if you can be bothered. Was nice and quiet there but if you go to the sand dunes beware as there as nudists everywhere. Weather was brilliant over 30 every day.
Would go back to gran canaria but not to that hotel, it's just a bit out of the way for a young couple, nice to have a bit quiet but nice to have some life to the place as well!

Spent a week at the Koala Garden...

May 2008, Miss Waters

Spent a week at the Koala Garden Suites in a self catering apartment in zone 3 - couldn't have asked for anything nicer. The apartment was clean, spacious and balcony which had the sun pretty much all day. The whole complex was quiet and for the best part of the week my boyfriend and I were the only people by the pool - it was like having our own villa.
Taxis are cheap and you can always get one quickly - the reception can call one for you or just start walking and flag one down. Taxi from the airport costs between 35-45 Euros - we managed to share a taxi back to the airport with 2 other guests, so it's definately worth asking if anyone is getting the same flight home.
Faro (lighthouse) is lovely - really nice restaurants and the people are friendly and not overbearing and pushy as in Playa des Ingles. The beach is lovely although the sea is quite rocky. Faro II is a bit tourisy and English but fine if you want a quick bit to eat and want to walk (as it's only 10 mins - but ask directions from reception as it's not signposted). Playa is nice enough - the beach was lovely and the sea was great fun - big waves!
The only criticism I have is that the towels could have been replaced more often, but in the big scheme of things, it didn't really matter! A map of the surrounding area and best places to go would have been helpful.
The weather was absolutely fantastic - between 30-35 every day. Almost too hot sometimes! I would definately recommend the Koala as well as the area and more than likely revisit the area in the future. The best thing is that the whole holiday cost £350 for 2 people!!

Me and my boyfriend have just stayed...

Me and my boyfriend have just stayed at the Koala Garen Suites for 8 nights. We arrived at our hotel at 8pm, the man at reception wasnt very welcome but when we walked into our accomodation we thought the apartment was quite nice, very spacious and clean, the only problem was we had to move because our room smelt strongly off sewerage , once we had moved to our other room it was fine, they moved us no problem. All the pools were cleaned every morning, most of the pools we cold there is one heated pool, but once you were in the cold pools it was fine.
We were all inclusive we found the food quite repetative, chips, fish, sometimes pasta, pizza, puddings were always the same cooked apples, strawberry blancmange and chocolate. Lunch time food was normally the same as evening food. At breakfast there was crossiants, bacon, egg, toast, cereal, etc. All inclusive drinks were coke, lemonade etc their beer, 3 cocktails, there were some more.
We found towards the end of the holiday we ate out as we got a bit fed up with the food.
Koala gardens is just next to holiday world, takes 5mins to walk to. That has a bowling alley which costs 12 euros a game. There is a arcade their and rides like a big wheel, pirate ship, miny rollercoster, bumper cars etc.
Just past holiday world is faro 2 shopping centre, this has a few different shops, and some restaurants. Crazy golf is also there.
We walked to the dunes and the camels which doesnt take to long about 30-45mins but it doesnt seem that long, a taxi only costs 3-4 euros.
The camels cost 12 euros per person for half an hour, which I thought was worth it they were really fun. It also costs 5 euros of a picture of you on the camel which is also a good price.
Right next to the camels is the sand dunes which were amazing we walked from Maspalomas to playa de ingles to the dunes. Playa de ingles only costs about 3 euros to get to but didnt take long to walk to.
The weather in gran canaria when we went which was the 25th of March was amazing it was between 25-32 degrees everyday.
The Koala Gardens was a nice apartment and I wouldnt be put off by everything people say.

We were very worried after reading some reviews on various sits.. honestly didn't know what to expect!!
However, on arrival we were really really pleased! The room was spotless fresh and modern.
We had a ground floor apartment with the perfect view over the pool.
The pool and surrounding areas were also clean and pretty.
The location was also really good - only about 4 euros into the town so we went out for dinner every night!!
The kitchen is behind two cupboard doors - but its more than adaquate!!!
The only negative thing i would say is the hotel shop was horrible!! Pretty much everything we picked up was out of date! So be carefull when making purchases there!!
Apart from that - fantastic!!!!

We have just had a brilliant time at...

We have just had a brilliant time at the KOALA SUITES ! I went with my husband and two children (7+9).
We were in ZONE 4, in a ground floor apartment with a little garden complete with our own Palm Tree ! We also had a pool view. The apartment was spotless and the linen and towels were fresh and clean and changed daily. The beds were huge and very comfy , infact, all four of us slept in them even though they were advertised as singles.
The kitchen was well equiped with all we needed complete with kettle and microwave which you don't usually get in SC accom.
We asked for more patio chairs and received them with the hour. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely reception staff who even organised our "Swimming with Sea Lions " trip.
The pool was cleaned every day and it may have been a little chilly but hey ! it was January.
The complex was lovely and peaceful all times of the day and the kids slept well.
We made the most of our holiday and went to Aqualand twice (great fun for all ages but take your own food, it was more expensive to buy lunch there than in Disney Land)
We went on a Camel Safari, had a day at the Crocodile park (excellant value and loads of crocs and stuff), swam with Sea lions and had just one day chilling.
It was dead easy to get around at night. Just ask at reception to call you a taxi and one comes within minutes.
We loved the Chinese at Holiday World and the kids loved the bowling and the Fun Fair.
Taxis down to the beach and sea front were cheap. Lovely restaurants along by the Faro (light house).
The weather was good 20-24 degrees, a couple of cloudy days but mostly lovely sunny weather.
I would recommend Koala to anyone but not young groups of party animals. We will go back again as we found it excellant value for money. The apartment had many extras that we did'nt expect from a self-catering holiday. Staff were great and could'nt do enough for us.
We have been having winter breaks for the last 10 years and always book this level of accomodation but KOALA stood head and shoulders above the rest.
I can't understand what people have to complain about...perhaps they should get out more ..........!..or stick with Blackpool next time......!

I love Koala Garden Suites!
Don't understand the unhappy people. It's the best place in the world. Been there 8 times and loving it every time. Never had anything to complain about.
The staff are very friendly and helpfull and almost every day there is entertainment all run by this young incredible happy sweet guy.
The rooms are big and clean. Just love the big beds and the pillows! This is the place you sleep all night long if you are not out enjoying the nightlife.
Not so far away from Koala there is Faro 2 which is a cozy center with a bar called Banana Tropical Music Pub. I recomend this place very much. The waiters are so funny and the drinks are good. And the music too.. If you been there once I guarentee you'll return.
So if you are having second tougths about going to Koala, don't. It's the best place!
Go there and enjoy...

Feb 2008, Mrs A HOUSTON

my husband and i arrived 19th jan could not believe the apartment! we stayed in apartment 405 - it was very tired and out of date - we had booked it beleiving it was 4 star - not - even close! the drains in the apartment stank! the curtains were stained with ? unclean!-the general cleanliness was poor the skirting boards were filthy and the sink was covered in burns in the bathroom. the paintwork was chipped and the plaster work was falling off parts of the walls. there was only one plug socket which was beside the sink - the towels were disgusting in fact the replaced towels that were supposed to be fresh were mostly dirtier than the collected ones!!! the self-catering was a joke no kettle and the cutlery and dishes were not clean and how anyone could cook for a family with the two ringed hob would have been very difficult. the facilities were horrible - the gym was about twenty years old with a self powered treadmill and the room was filthy -pools were freezing and the staff at the reception were rude and unhelpful - if you have not already booked -do not consider it!!! go somewhere else- the entertainment was a guy with a cd player entertaining the kids - not good!

have just returned from a 7 night stay at the koala gardens in masspalomas. my partner and i arrived at the hotel in the evening and checked in we were in zone 5 t6his is only a short walk from the main reception. room was good only we had to be moved as it smelt a little. our second room was very nice consisted of two very generous sized single beds bathroom with seperate shower and bath including a b'day, the sitting area was nice and spacious with a telly only english channel was cnn although you dont go on holiday to watch telly!! and the balcony was a good size, the kitchen is in a cupboard!! its soo cute with a microwave toaster fridge kettle and two ring hob everything you need!!
rooms cleaned every other day clean towels every day
the pools - you have a pool in your allocated zone but there are also two pools in the main bar area near reception one is heated and one not. entertainment takes place there during the day you know like bingo and water polo. pools could have done with a better clean but were ok. all communal aras were very clean.
up the road is holiday world this has loads of arcade games a mini casino and resteraunts but the best bit is it has its own theme park!!
ten mins up the road it faro 2 this again is food and drink along with some shops and behind it is a mini golf ara and trampolines.
alll in all the hotel was to an average standard of a 2/3 star hotel enjoied my holiday very much. but be warned if you are flying later in the afternoon and you have to check out by 12 there will be no courtsy room available to shower and change before your flight.

We were in the Koala from 14 to 21...

We were in the Koala from 14 to 21 January 2008 in zone 4 room 403 and had a fantastic time, large rooms pool view we even liked the kitchen so what more could we ask for for 312.00 for two people. Friendly staff though we never found the need to ask for anything as our room was kept spotless. Our only complaint is we got no cockroaches not even one so whoever has them please return them to room 403 for the next guests.
Having read all the negative reports on this site I feel a lot of these people would be better of at home, our last holiday was in Dubai in a four star apartment by Meridian and the Koala far outweighed that.
The pool was cleaned every morning , plenty of sun beds, so make your own mind up but be wary of reports by people who pay cheap prices then expect five star,we will go back again and it will be to Koala.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Koala Gardens and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Our party consisted of 2 adults and our 10 yr old daughter and 13 yr old son, for which we had 2 studio apartments. These were very spacious with nice bathrooms, TV and kitchen. The pools were nice with pool tables table tennis and bar area. Although there was no indoor pool as advertised, and the evening entertainment was virtually nonexistent.
There were lots to do in the area and a great fun park for kids. Taxis are very reasonable although the cost of eating and drinking out seems to have risen sharply.
The weather was reasonable for the time of year; we had plenty of chances to swim although it did cloud over in the afternoons which left us at a bit of a loose end as far as the hotel entertainment was concerned.
On the whole we would recommend the hotel and especially the resort and its colourful and varied nightlife.

Koala Gardens is a nice little...

Nov 2007, Miss SE Aitchison

Koala Gardens is a nice little accommodation and I would go back. There was not really much entertainment but there was a snake show which was good and the man doing it spoke in 3 different languages which was amazing.
The pools were all clean. A little cold but nice for when it becomes extremely hot throughout the day. A problem we had was the sunbeds, people would lie their towels on sunbeds at the crack of dawn so we never got any. We got up one morning to go and put the towels on our sunbeds and were then taken from a big family that just slumped our towels under a tree. Spanish man told me off for using and moving 'his' umbrella when clearly it was not his.
The mini market was a little too expensive. There was nothing wrong with the advertisement of Anfi De Mar. Because we went to it and it was gorgeous and we're now interested in going there in 2009.
The food at Koala Gardens was lovely. And the prices were reasonable. Yes. I'd go there again.
It was a lovely holiday x
