I would recommend Oceano apartments in Costa Teguise to any couples or families who just want a nice self catering holiday and to be centrally located for beaches bars and restaurants and other places of entertainment. Staff are very pleasant and happy to help with any problems and Mo and Susanne who run the pool bar are extremely warm and welcoming and make your stay at this complex all the more enjoyable, make sure you go to their BBQ on a Tuesday its only 10 euros per person but its lovely great food all the sangria you can drink and a good way to get to know other families and couples etc. Bus stops are just around the corner to go to Puerto Del Carmen or Arrecife etc, i would also recommend to anyone to go on the Rancho Texas excursion its great for families and couples of all ages, great parrot show which is very funny, birds of prey show which is extremely good if you want to get up close and personal with them and see them flying just above your head or just in front of you, the seal show is also good and funny. You get to see many other animals like reptiles, white tigers, alligators, bisons, cougars and many more. I would advise not to go on the Atlantic Adventure excursion which is wrongly named and should be renamed Coastal Adventure as its very disappointing and certainly not worth the 37 euros each myself and my girlfriend paid. Didn't see any dolphins or whales or flying fish as we didn't even go into the Atlantic we just drifted off the coast area of Playa Blanca, all we got to eat was a ham and cheese sandwich which was only 1 per person and some salad with the option of having some pasta with anchovy sauce so your stuffed if your a vegan or vegetarian. They then threw overboard left over sandwiches for the fish to eat to my girlfriends annoyance as she was still hungry and refused another sandwich, then it went wrong on the journey back to our resort due to my girlfriend feeling unwell having to get off the coach to be sick in Puerto Del Carmen at one of the drop-offs and the driver left us stranded even after I asked him to wait 2 minutes as we were going back to Costa Teguise so we had to pay an extra 5 euros 20 to get back to Costa Teguise. Also visit The Bulldog Pub round the corner literally turn left out of oceano and first left, they do a great offer where they take you to Teguise market and bring you back where you can have a lovely Sunday roast all for 12 euros 50 per adult, but your also guaranteed a good laugh and great banter especially if your a Derby fan or possibly wolves fan as its a baggies pub (WBAFC). Also Just a small hint, ask your rep about the green banana card as this allows you to get 10% in selected restaurants and there are others that give up to 30% with this card, just make sure you ask before you present the card with the bill as there may be other offers that work out cheaper.

Just returned from the glorious sunshine to the depths of the next ice age in the UK. Went with the other half for her 30th and to get a bit of nice weather. For what we paid it's not a bad deal at all, set in a central location close to shops and all resturants. On the transfer some of the other hotels/apartments seemed isolated and not that close to the beach or amenities, so was plesantly surprised we everything on the doorstep.
Saying that we did venture to Fuerteventura with some reasonably priced excursions. Oasis park was superb. From feeding elephants and giraffes, to being kissed by a seal and handling 10ft snakes. This place makes any UK zoo i've been to look like Lego-land.
Even though it was self catering and the room was pretty basic, anything we asked for apart from free cash to keep the tv fed, the staff were very forthcoming. We had a squeaking patio door and mentioned it on the way out to have breakfast. By the time we got back it was done!
Although reception wasn't open 24/7 they were always friendly and useful, unlike th Thomas Cook rep (Michael). Plesant chap but 30 minutes late for the meet and greet and came in singing, with no signs of an apology for his tardiness. The weather made it all worthwhile and where else can you take trip in a submarine! Apparently it only rains 3 weeks of the year, where we get 3 weeks of sun in the UK.

  • Advice: Great value for a week in the sun with a very friendly atmosphere.

My wife and I have been home now for 2 weeks, our kids have grown up now so just us 2 these days. The Oceano appts, were all we expected, clean, spacious, basic, centrally located for every thing. The pool bar owners were above average and were very freindly. The reception/security people were excellent,we had no proplems, crime on the island is almost non existant.Outside the complex,The brit bar owners were disappointed at the lack of british tourists this year, due to the crunch and the high Euro.Numbers down by 60% so they said.It was expensive to eat and drink out.the average price of a large St.miguel was 2.50 euros, cheaper if you shopped around. The average for a main course was around 7 to 10 euros,we did not have a bad meal the food was of a very high standard everywhere. The best meal we had was at an Irish bar on the beach front called Hennesys, highly recommended, every thing home made. There was good entertainment in the bars at night, bands, tribute acts,we even saw a drag artist, all good for a laugh. With August being there high season, there were not many people there. What you will see is loads of chinese restaurants mostly doing an all you can eat buffet for between 4.50 & 5.50 euros,we had chinese every other night.Yes it was a good holiday.

  • Advice: be aware of the high euro, shop around
  • Activities: Hennesys bar on the beach, great food. The day trips are expensive,so we did not go..High Euro !!

This was our 3rd time staying at the Oceano and I have to say we enjoyed every minute of our stay, our aunt is Downsyndrom and there were great facilities for her to get around and all staff were really helpful especially Mo and Suzanne, they give the apartments a lovely, friendly environment! They make a great Fry too! We will hopefully be returning in October this year again! Defo recommend for a relaxed holiday!

On our arrival we had to get the apartment fridge re-cleaned it was full of dried peanuts and very dirty. The following day the wall in the kitchen area and under the bed was crawling with ants. These apartments are very tired looking and in need of redecoration. They are not 3 star rated given by Thomas Cook.

Oceano Stay

We visited Costa Teguise for the third time in December 2008.As a consequence of a flight company going bust we had to switch to Oceano Apartments. The rooms were a fine size and the actual room was kept fairly clean. The shower and kitchen facilities were fit for purpose.
From here onwards I can only be critical through faint praise ,because the room we were allocated was directly above a noisy bar and the balcony was being used by cats for the purpose of defication and urination. It was extremely unpleasant.
At the welcome meeting we infromed the Thomas Cook rep that we had problems with our room/balcony.He immediately side stepped the question and said 'I'l speak to you after the presentation'.He never did.Several days into the holiday after our request to reception to be moved away from the bar area could not be met,I spoke further to the Rep and took him up to the room to outline the nature of our complaints. He responded later in the day by telling us he couldn't meet our request to be moved unfortunately. However,by way of compensation he told us have a slap up meal at Thomas Cook's expense up to the value of 50 Euro.Very kind we thought. But the Rep never followed through with his promise to reimburse us for the cost of the meal.(44 Euro). We feel let down by the Thomas Cook rep.Room 106 is was WELL BELOW acceptable standards.
I have to say that the other apartments looked fine and the reception staff etc were very friendly. The only criticism I would have of the pool area was the lack of cleaning with regard to poolside tables.
In summary I suppose our review is based on two main weaknesses in the service we received.Firstly,an inability to provide adequate alternative accommodation within the complex.Secondly, the extremely poor customer service from the tour operator rep.He was a nice lad, very personable, good jokes at the welcome meeting, but his inattention to detail cost us 44 Euro.Bad show.

  • Advice: Very well laid out.Excellent coastal path

We have just come back from a weeks break at Oceana apartments. Its the most relaxed and friendly atmostphere I have experienced on a holiday. The people are very obliging, from reception to Mo and Susannah who run the pool bar. Music is played all day to a variety of tastes, there is a pool table and tennis table available should you wish to have a break from sunbathing. We met many guests who have repeatedly returned there year after year as its so convenient to everywhere, the beach, spanish square, and shops are all within 5 minutes. Rooms are clean and spacious. Overall holidays are what you make them and we made some super friends and have already agreed to return next year. Super for couples who like a laugh and can relax.

Firstly with my rating It was hard...

Firstly with my rating It was hard choice to make. Myself and my wife arrived very late on August 21st 2008 for a 2 week stay. Based on recommendation from parents who also booked same holiday after been previous 2 years, we were very confused and somewhat disappointed in what we had built ourselves up for. At first impressions we were happy with our room and although this was to change over the fortnight....it was cleaned every 2 days with towel change and 4 days for bedding. For self catering we expected basic, but we soon found out that having cooker on plus oven, did blow electrics in room...not good when trying to cook meals. Bathroom was clean and although shower pressure was low at times we did find out that at certain times it was actually ok and had hot water available when needed although short in supply. Terrace was big and we had our own table and chairs but we did notice that it was getting very dirty with bird droppings and other dust etc to which we noticed wasnt been cleaned as regular as the rooms were ( once only in 2 weeks stay it was swept ). As for comfort at night this was what swayed our decision towards overall rating, noise was a big factor. Rooms very thin i believe, and could pretty much hear all bar music to all hours in morning and sometimes quite disturbingly neighbours in ajoining rooms or above! to which led to a lot of restless nights with no sleep.
Facilities in complex were ok and what you would expect....pool, bar and toilets. Loungers were available but if really busy were hard to come by in peak times. Pool and surrounding area was cleaned every day but did notice toilets were blocked regularly but rectified when brought to attention! Bar and Staff were what you can expect also....Friendly, clean and good quick food and drinks although like i will mention near end, up there with being borderline expensive but were irregular with their opening hours. We can understand peoples complaints with lack of certain access or services ie. help towards rooms and stairs etc.
As for resort this is what was suprisingly disappointing for us. Yes there was 2 beaches both 5 mins walk away and restaurants all around but if i wanted to experience spanish culture and food, there were none and somewhat resembled Blackpool with sun!!! We felt it was tacky and expensive to eat out, even to have drinks etc every night and were met with whole load of Chinese restaurants and both British pubs and restaurants ( not good for trying local cuisine ). Gift shops were very poor and all same although each had their own way of ripping off tourists with stupid prices for things! Plus our point through experience unfortunately, we found a lot of sleaze towards women!
Overall we wont be returning to Lanzarote!!!!!! Very highly over rated!!!!!!
