Los Cocoteros Apartments Reviews

We had an excellent holiday in Los Cocoteros apartments last September, enjoyed it so much we booked up immediately we got home for September 07.
No complaints at all.
Maids did an excellent job towels and linen changed regularly.
Only slightly noisy on Saturday night Sunday mornings and that was just people coming out of disco/club further along the street, (and that was only by my husband who was awake anyway).
We had a top floor apartment which had a nice view over the beach.
We also hired a car (which can be done very easily locally and was not expensive) and managed to see many places including trips to Fire Mountain, and The Green Caves, which work out much cheaper than going on organised excursions.

We had apartment 302. I highly recommend this accommodation for couples and small families.
My partner and I travelled there last week and we were very pleased with the accommodation. I read the other review on site and noted the mention of cockroaches. We did not encounter this problem at all in our apartment although when walking about and about I did see a few here and there on the pavement. Our apartment was on the ground floor and there was a small flight of stairs leading up to it. The apartment consisted of a living room with on suite kitchen - both large. A good sized bathroom and bedroom. Very tastefully furnished and decorated throughout. A TV, kettle, microwave, toaster all provided and all working.
Cleaning service three times a week and fresh towels twice a week. Toilet roll replaced and floor mopped regularly - I left the cleaner a tip as she did such a sterling job. Views from our balcony were restricted to the left but clear to the right and I gave the view an 8/10 as all the activity is to the right of the apartment.
A small negative is if you are elderly and book these apartments, or have children, and have an upstairs apartment then there are many steps to get to apartment - something to bare in mind when coming back home with a few pints in you or glasses of wine or perhaps a few shots of scotch.
The area is outrageous with hospitality. Tons of eateries. Some excellent bars. The Harley bar is great. Then there is live entertainment as well. There was lots of people trying to get you to come into there clubs, but they are all mostly English and easily fobbed off.
Eating out can be a little bit pricy - Lanzarote is the more expensive Island so take a few extra pounds with you. Lots of day trips - we did the catamaran and fire mountain experience - very nice. Weather hot hot hot but a bit cloudy and some rain when we went but we went for two weeks so had the best of both. There is noise from street on Saturday’s, only when the clubs come out – it bothered me for 1 night and that was it as my bedroom is on back of apartment.
Be wary of dodgy electrical items as very cheap and no taxes payable. Be wary of aggressive sales people in electrical shops as well. Nice to you on the pavement and when in shop get a bit stroppy if you don' buy.
When travelling back, be wary of being overweight on luggage - its 9 Euros per kilo over and they are very strict at the airport.
Cheers and Garcia’s - A great holiday and I have a great tan!

" The first apartment, number 401, that... "

The first apartment, number 401, that we were given was absolutely filthy. The whole apartment had an overwhelming stench, the bathroom was full of black mould, and the cable of the toaster had been burnt through exposing live wires! The accommodation looked nothing like the internet images.
When confronted by the Airtours rep, the on duty manager of Los Cocoteros said the smell and damaged appliance were caused by us! (Despite the fact we hadn't used the toaster or the shower). This apartment was on the corner so was exposed to all the noise from the main street (which at night is very loud until 5 or 6am every morning) The last straw came when we spotted 4 cockroaches in the bedroom and living room areas. (NB Two subsequent parties who were unfortunate enough to be allocated this apartment also demanded to be moved).
After numerous phone calls and the intervention of our family back in England, Airtours finally started to take our complaints seriously...so after enduring two horrendous days, not to mention sleepless nights, couped up and miserable, we were eventually moved to a much cleaner ground floor apartment. There was no view here but the fall in noise level made up for it. We still had cockroaches in this apartment but the management stated they were part and parcel of Lanzarote life so equipped us with an aerosol spray which did kill them off.
On the whole I would not recommend this resort as a family holiday destination. The majority of holiday-makers were single sex groups of young adults in their late teens/early twenties so the noise level was always at its worst during the night. Some of these young people can be very intimidating - we witnessed a full on drunken punch up between two rival gangs during the first night of our holiday. I travelled with my elderly mother and young daughter and neither of them wish to return to either Los Cocoteros (or Los Cockaroches as my daughter calls it) or Puerto del Carmen.

It was a great view on the balcony (view of the sea) But we found at least 5 cockroaches in our room under the covers in our clothes they were all over in the fridge. The reception closed too early. Not bad for younger adults.
The beach is just across the road. There is no swimming pool so we went and found another past the nightclub tropical. The area is very safe as we saw a young woman jogging on the beach at 4 am in the morning. It is very clean around the apartment, and you can buy the English newspaper next door to the reception in the English pub.
And at night listen out for some bongos the man we saw was playing them for ages and earned about 200 euros that night. Near the apartment is an artist who will draw you for only 15 euros. The taxis are cheap the most we paid was 3.45 euros.

i found the apartments very clean and well kept. the maids were very friendly and cleaned, changed bedding and towels when they were supposed to. the reception staff were very friendly and helped with any problems, they also booked excursions no problem when we wanted. any staff we saw on our stay were extremley friendly and polite.
the view was stunning...just across from the beach so waking up every morning to a sea view was amazing!! we were in room 412, it was an end room which was good and was on the level of the pool..right outside the door!
the bar/ restaurant just at the bottom of the stairs 'toby jugs' is really good for breakfast..3euro for a fry!!! the dinners were very tasty and good value..a 3 course dinner..to include a steak for 11euro!!
the only thing that really bugged me about puerto del carmen were the promo staff for the club 928..they do not take no for an answer!! we spent most of our nights in the tequila bar which was a little bit further down the strip (not too far)..the staff were very friendly, helpful and the men hot!!!!! the drinks were a decent price..and most of the time its happy hour..very good on a budget!!!!!
overall i would highly recommend puerto del carmen (it feels very safe to walk along the strip at night!) and the apartments los cocoteros.
i will def be going back as will the other 2 girls.
