When reading the reviews about the place was a bit put off, however when we arrived at the apartments we could not off asked for a better place to stay. Yes the room as a bit on the small side, but you are only in the room to sleep and change. The staff at the hotel are brill, they could not do enough for you and the place was spotless. I have never been to Turkey, I never fancied going, however I will be back next year LOVED the place. The entertainment was the best I have ever seen at a hotel, they never stopped all day and my daughter was entertained all day and night. Thankyou everyone at the Grand Aquarium for all your hard work. Tracy, Annmarie and Poppy x

Well where can i start, the staff were fantastic and really friendly. When i had really bad sunburn and i went to the super market the staff did all they could to cool it down.
I have to admit the room was a bit small but we didn't really stay in it that long. There is many things to do at grand aquarium like the water slide comes on at 11:00 and 2:45. In the pool was probably the best part because the entertainment team would usually play water polo and many other games.
Finally the pool party on sunday night was amazing.there was the water slide and surfboard wrestling and lots more.
ONE OF MY BEST HOLIDAYS YET !!!:)

We have been to the Grand on a few occasions now this year the staff had changed so we were a bit concerned about this as we had made some great friends last year with the staff and management team however we were soon made welcome and we had a great time but although we were treated well I must admit that I think the staff last year were better thank god that the chef was the same he is brilliant and his food is top notch if he had gone I do not think we would have been eating in there as much as we did. The entertainment team were good and we had some great times with them so well done boys,The restaurant staff on the main were good but seemed inexperienced as waiter staff and we did have some issues with one off them however this was dealt with, and put right, the room was brilliant and cleaned everyday and the manageress Salli was lovely and extremly helpful nothing was to much trouble for her and she has become a good friend we are looking forward to returning in September,my rating is an 8 out of 10 you will always have a great time at the Grand.Keep up the good work Thanks Grand from Keith and Tina

Lovely Hotel, staff were very helpfull and friendly. Would recommend this hotel if you dont mind walking for half an hour to the beach. Rooms were cleaned everyday and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Didnt try the facilities as we were self catering, so we were eating out all of the time. Wasnt much information or communication about the facilities on offer etc, turkish baths or the hairdresses at the hotel, maybe this was my fault as well for not asking. The cleaners at the Hotel are second to none. Chris from Washington, beside Newcastle!

rooms are tiny

When we booked we were told that these rooms were more than adequate for 2 adults and 2 children as the couches in the lounge made up into beds. The couches turned out to be small bedchairs. When they were open you could not pass through the room.
The cooking facilites were quite simply a joke. One two plate portable hob, like the type you use on a camping trip and apart from the usual crockery etc that was it.
Air conditioning was an optional extra at £30 for the week. The double room was only just large enough to accommodate us.
This said the staff and food were very good although the bar was generally noisy till around 2 am. Your senses then get a fright at 10.00hrs with the start of the childrens entertainment. Forget the relaxing morning.
You also have to allow for taxis as it is too far to walk into town. It costs about 4 pounds each way so it could cost you 16 pounds a day if you go to the beach, return to change, and then go to town for the evening. It is cheaper on the dolmus but not as convenient.
The food in the hotel is fairly good but in town there is a huge range of restaurants with excelent entertainment.
The Majestic is excellent, look for it near the canal markets. It also offers a free taxi service to and from your hotel.
Food is of a good standard throughout the area but prices for alcoholic drinks can be on a par with Europe, with a beer costing a couple of pounds and spirits about the same per shot.
We would go back to Ichmelar but not to the Grand Aquarium.

What can I say about the Grand Aquarium words can not describe the fantastic staff and especially the entertainmrent team Compi Ferdi Paulo and the rest of the staff who made us so welcome and thoroughly entertained us for our two week holiday, we were made to feel like part of a big happy family. This accomodation is also great for the kids with plenty to keep them occupied, the adults were very entertained as well, the food is top notch and we ate there frequently with a wide range of menu and kids meals also were of top quality, the appartments were spotless and they were cleaned on a daily basis all the staff worked hard to ensure your needs were met and nothing was to much trouble for them, I and my wife are looking forward to returning in late September for another fortnight of fun. Well done Grand Aquarium and all my new friends there keep up the good work.

my girlfriend and i visited turkey for the first time and stayed at the grand, we were made very welcome and our first impressions were good, great pool area, restaurant and bar and pictuesque setting.
However, in daylight the place was abit different, the rooms were ok but very shabby, the bathroom was directly opposite the kitchen area and the kitchen was very basic to the extreme. One night there was a thunder storm and on returning to our room found a flood of water that had come in through a gap between the window frame and wall. we repoted it but were told nothing could be done with it and were left to clean up ourselves.
the furniture is shabby and the plants on the balcony had some sticky bud like things on them and they stuck to all our towels and clothes we put out to dry.
The staff were very good, friendly and the service was second to none, the guy behind the reception was especially good, well done serkan mate!! the bar staff were great and helpful. The hotel barber was the biggest pain, always wanting to shave you or cut your hair.
We will be going back to turkey in june but not to the grand im afraid, too expensive and never a 4 star in a month of sundays!!

2 mins to the bus takes you into town centre which is great.would def go back. rooms are really small but you are not in them much so not really a big problem.

we stayed at grand aquaruim on the 20th october 2008, we had a fantastic time, we have never been made to feel so welcome on a resort as much as here, the staff we brilliant, well mannered, excellent servicenothing was too much trouble. The rooms we cleaned every day, clean towels left on the beds in pretty patterns, the beds changed everyday. The food was lovely and also the entertainment by aj was good laugh. We met some lovely people especially geoff and diane that have continued to go back a least twice a year and to honest that is what i could see myself and my family doing next year.My children are 12 and 15 and they loved it.the bus ride into icmeler is easy it stops outside tommy's bar and is about 5 minutes ride,it cost 2 lire each.make sure you have room in your case as clothes, shoes, belts and bags are really cheap.I would recommend the Grand Aquaruim to anyone, we met the owner of the complex and you couldn't meet a nicer gentleman, so hopefully we'll be back soon......

Mr T Randhawa

We stayed at the grand Aquarium from 13th-20th Oct 2008 and had a very enjoyable time. The GA was quite basic, the rooms were quite small but functional. We found the showers were a little temperamental especially in the mornings as the water was not always very warm. The GA was situated in a quiet and pleasant area in the old village and was only about a 15-20 minute walk from Icemeler town.
The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. David and Ali were particularly good. The entertainment was ok in the evening but didn't last for more than 45 mins each night. The breakfast was good along with the freshly squeezed orange juice, however the evening meal could have been better. We tended to eat out on most evenings and would recomend Valentino's' in Icemeler town centre, Valentino's staff will come and pick you up from the GA and will drop you back to the GA when you have finished. The cleanliness in the GA was of very high standard and the maid came and changed the bed sheets and towels every day.
If you have young children this is a good place to stay, especially around October when it is not too hot and not too busy. We really enjoyed our walks from the GA to Icemeler town. The people were very friendly and accomodating. Plenty of buses and taxis available from the GA to Icemeler Town or to Mamaris which is much bigger and busier than Icemler.
All in all we had a brillant holiday in Icemeler and would definately go back and stay in the GA. Our two boys aged 16 and 12 really enjoyed Turkey as there is so much to do, would recomend the boat trip, horseriding turkish bath and visiting Mamaris market on a Thursday.
