just returned from a truely excellent holiday at the alvaro apartments in icmeler ,
the apartments have pretty much everything you need and i must mension the cleaning staff who did a brilliant job giving our rooms a proper clean everyday .. the kids loved the pool area and the slide and the staff at the poolside cafe / bar helped to keep them entertained and were great right though the holiday ( i would like to mension them all by name but know i would make a mess of the spelling ) same can be said for the staff at the lemon tree .. kids wouldent let us miss open the box !.. all in all i can't find one fault with the alvaro and will certainly be going there again
icmeler its self is a very nice family resort with plenty going on , the beach is not the best i have ever seen with the sand being very course but the sea was great as was the service we recieved from faik ( rhymes with spike ) our beach boy , his sunbeds were only £1 for all day ! and he would bring you ice cold drinks to your sunbed for the same price as you would pay at the bar , i promised him i would give him a mension as i found him helpful friendly and honest , his is the beach with the blue umbrella poles
all in all this was great holiday in a great resort in realy great accommodation

Excellent apartments, yes basis but very clean, no creepy crawleys, and serviced daily.
Proper kettle in kitchen great.
Nothing any bother at all. staff great fun, both in the Alvaro and Lemon Tree.
Watch out for zaza and his Ice buckets???
Pool area very clean and well maintained, the water slide operating let you know what time it is.
Will definately be making a return visit
Turkish scrub and massage reccommended
The local Turisk Bath in Icemeler is basis but good, no overly tourist selling hype.

Just an update from our last post.We mistakenly only gave the alvaro 6 out of 10.The real rating was 9 out of 10 cos we all had such a great time even after julie broke her toe on CHEEKY BUGGERS boat trip( be very careful !!!!!!!!).
As we have previously said these apartments are in a fab location in the centre of Icmeler.
We stayed for 2 weeks and thankfully we met loonies!!!!!!!! ( i think you all know who you are!!!!) during our second week.
We will be going back there for the wedding of Gill & Ibo...???? ( ONLY KIDDING)

Just got back from the Alvaro, what a lovely place. The most welcoming and caring place we have ever stayed. The staff fell over themselves to help and always acknowledged you when passing reception.
The weather was dreadful it rained every day and the worst thunder storms you could ever imagine. At one stage we thought a bomb had gone off in the area.
We only had one chance to sit in the sun on the 25th as we were coming home on the 26th. Even then it rained, when the sun was out it was hot.
The rooms were very clean not one creepy crawly or bug, beautifully tiled bathroom (shower, loo sink). No kettle or toaster though so we used a pan to boil water for a brew.
Food from the pool bar was lovely, but do keep an eye on your 'tab' it soon mounts up, pay at the end of each day so there is less of a shock. It is not overly expensive and everything is cooked fresh including Sunday roast dinner.
With the weather being so bad they put DVDs’ on for the kids in the pool bar, the kids were a good mix and all got on well. Ebo and Pedro the waiters were fantastic Ebo took my hubby for a proper Turkish shave he said it was an experience of a life time and would definitely do it again.
My hubby and son also went for a Turkish bath (booked through the rep) cost £11 for basic and then an extra £10 for the oil massage, they loved it. It is recommended to have this at the start of the holiday as you tan better afterwards.
When shopping barter for everything even in the shops there are no copyright laws in Turkey so everything is fake. The rule is usually half what they are asking and compromise somewhere in between.
Do visit the Wednesday market in Icmeler, they are very full on and can be a bit over whelming but stand your ground. You hear things like cheaper than shop lifting.
PLACE'S TO EAT: The Lemon tree just across from the Alvaro was lovely as was 'Chef' they provide you with fresh Turkish bread which is like a naan bread while your meal is being cooked. At Chef when 'Elvis' brings the bread out he has freshly cooked for you if everyone claps and cheers he does a dance its very funny and he gets more carried away as the night goes on.
We had been told that the Love Boat was good but heard bad things when we got there so didn’t go there, BUT if you like men in uniform like in an officer and a gentleman then this place is worth going to just to see them.
A smashing chippy called the Travellers Rest (Christine from Yorkshire) lovely food and the waiter called "daft as a brush" certainly lived up to his name.
ON YOUR RETURN JOURNEY DO TAKE FOOD TO EAT AT THE AIRPORT. One cheese burger happy meal will set you back close to £10 it is a total rip off. And watch your baggage weight they charge £6 per kilo NO LEAWAY.
Would we go back there......yes its already booked. (3 days after returning).

I cannot recommend the Alvaro apartments enough, as has been mentioned before the apartments are basic but its only really a place to sleep and shower at the end of the day because lets face it who goes on holiday to spend all their time indoors?!?!?!
The staff were beyond helpful and always bent over backwards to help us out with any of our wants and needs. My seven year old son had an accident toward the end of our holiday and cut his foot on a glass that someone had left by the poolside, which required stitches, we were taken to the hospital by the staff and the bills were all taken care of by the owner!!!!
If that isn’t above and beyond the call of duty then I don’t know what is.
We were very sad to leave and had a very nice send off from the staff who took out our cases and gave us all hugs before staying to wave us off (even though it was almost 1 am!!)
As I said before I cannot recommend this place enough, I just wish I could give it more than 10 out of 10. We will 100% be going back there for many years to come.

This was my first time in Turkey and i fell in love with it ! I am so happy i am going back this year . Although the rooms where basic they were always clean , he maid always did a fabulous job . My holiday wouldn't have been the same without the waiters there . They were so lovely and i still keep in touch with them . They treated you like royalty and were always polite.
Restraunts were also brilliant outide the resort . enjoyed a pub called NOEL which is only across the road from the alvaro . The owner of that club is an ex waiter of the alvaro . There is always entertainment on whether its at the alvaro or not and you are guarenteed a fun night .
Having experienced stayin in a 4/5 star hotel in icmeler the Alvaro excells in personal and friendly service and are just as good.
I would recommend anyone to visit there especially with children as the staff are friendly and the slide at the poolside is great .

This was our 4th time in icmeler but our 2nd at the Alvro. The staff are brilliant and friendly, can't do enough for you.The pools are great quite big as there are two of them. The outside space is great for the children as well as adults. The rooms are basic but very clean, thats all that matters when on holiday as you spend most of your time by the pool! The resort itself is beautiful the beach is lovely! Needless to say we are going back this year 2008 along with my parents this time Ihope they enjoy it as much as we do!

Rooms on the top of hotel are allot more basic then the rooms below. Towels were changed once in 14 days. The toilets often smelt of sewerage, when not used. One day there was a poo in the pool, but they did get it out and clean the pool.
The electricity went off everyday at least once of twice. Food at bar was expensive and not that nice compared to others outside the apartments. They charged us at the end of the holiday for food that we had not even purchased.
Staff and receptionists quite friendly and good with children.
The best places to eat were The Florida, Mellisa's and Moonlight. Icmeler is a really good place, and the market is great. Would recommend the Jeep Safari for an action packed and fun day, take water guns though.

Just come back from Icmeler for the 1st time and stayed at the Alvaro.
Everyone made us feel so welcome and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. They were all so helpful and friendly towards us.
The apartments were based right in the centre of the resort making it ideal for all.
Really clean and well kept. The maids worked very hard cleaning the rooms every day and were always really friendly and helpful.
Had a nice family feel to the place and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. We will certainly be going back there again next year and couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.
Top marks!!
