Great Apartments. Great Holiday

We stayed at the alvaro apartments for a week in May 2011 and really enjoyed it.
Rooms:
The apartments were very clean. Didnt see any bugs or insects and the windows have mosquito nets so you can sleep with them open. The cleaners came every day and not to early, around 12, so you dont have to evacuate the room. The rooms are very basic with no tv, kettle, microwave or toaster but considering the price the rooms are pefectly fine. The towels and toilet roll werent changed very often but we saw the place they kept them so took our own. You have to pay extra for air conditioning but at that time of the year we didnt need it at all, it was quite cold at night. There is also an extra charge for safety deposit boxes (i think 1TL a day) which are kept behind reception. Everything was in working order in the room eg doors, windows, locks, fridge and shower. The water for the shower however is kept on top of the hotel and gets heated up during the day from the sun, so you'll find it will be warmer on a warmer day!
Hotel:
There are 2 main pools with 1 small childrens pool. Water was quite cold but once you got used to it its fine. There is a water slide which i think gets turned on for 45minutes every other hour, or during quieter months you can just ask for it to be turned on. Pool area is cleaned every morning. They do say that you cant reserve any sunbeds before 8am, not sure if gets stuck to as May was a quite month and nobody was reserving beds. There is also a small soft play area for young children and a pool table. The staff are lovely and will do anything they can to make you enjoy your stay, especially eddy whos great! Food is not badly priced in the hotel and there is a lot to choose from.
Entertainment:
The week we came to alvaro there was no entertainment on in the evenings, im not sure if this was because it was quiet with few people around in the evenings or because they dont really do much entertainment at all. They had music playing or the tv on most evenings but it wasnt loud or playing really late to cause a problem.
Location:
The Apartments are located pretty much in the centre of Icemeler but not right on the busy streets, its set on a quite street inbetween two main streets. Its about a 5 minute walk down to the beach and the beach is much nicer than the beach in Marmaris. Sunbeds are 5TL for a day. 2 minute walk to the nearest mini supermarket and 5 minute walk to the nearest big supermarket.
Food & Drink:
There are plenty of restaurants around Icemeler. The typical food you will find is pizza, steak and chinese. There are no english or irish etc owned restaurants its all turkish owned but with english food. A lot of places offer roasts on a sunday. Prices can vary between places but nothing was overly expensive. Alcohol however is quite expensive a vodka redbull will cost you about £4/£5. Cocktails are very popular and you can find everywhere, some places will give you free cocktails after you meal. All the turkish people will try and get you in their restaurant so prepare to be hassled. Some people can be rude and mutter things in turkish under their breath, but most people are nice and will remember you and talk to you.
Icemeler:
Icemeler is a quite place, unlike Marmaris. Nice scenery and views and not a lot of traffic. There a dolmuses (buses) which go to and from Marmaris and cost 2.50TL, you need to get the white dolmus with the orange strip and they stop anywhere just put your arm out. They run every couple of minutes and stop about 1/2 in the morning. There was little to do around Icemeler for young people, with only 1 club which we were told a lot of the turkish men go in and stare at the girls. There are a lot of bars around and clothes and jewellery shops. There are water sports at the beach like jetskis, banana boats, parasailing etc.

We stayed at Alvro in June 2010. It was lovely. Really clean, all the staff are very friendly ecpecially Ali and Eddie. They were such fun with all the kids there, throwing them in the pool and just having a laugh all the time.
The rooms are nice and kept spotles. I would deffinatly go back to Alvaro if I return to Turkey.

I have jus cum bk frm stayin at the Alvaro with my family aged 7,14,15,19,21,43,46. And we all loved Icmeler & Alvaro. R rooms were cleaned daily & the staff were so helpful at all times. The pools & sunbathin areas were always clean. The kids loved the slide the only dwnfall was that it wasnt on all day. The rooms cud do with a bit of modernisin bt thats a minor ting! My daughter loved Ali & Eddy who always took time out 2 play with all the children. If or shud i say wen i go bk 2 Turkey i wud definitely stay at The Alvaro again! Big up 2 all of the staff there!!

this was fantastic for all of the family. the hotel is kept spotless, the pool is cleaned all of the time and the staff all cleaning, reception and bar staff are great. Nothing was to much trouble for go-go and all the rest of them. The pool parties and turkish nights were really enjoyable. We came straight home and booked to go back again as we all missed them so much. Icmeler itself is also fantastic we enjoyed many a nights out in dreamboys. even our 1 yr old and 6yr old loved it and cant wait to return.

The Alvaro is one of the most friendly and intimate hotels that we have stayed in and it is ideal for families. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is to much trouble for them we are already missing GoGo and friends and have already booked to go back next year. The rooms are clean with all ammenities and the cleaners are fantastic they leave you clean towels all of the time. The pool area is cleaned daily and if you cannot swim you can stand up in the pool by the slide. My children loved their time here and my son even learned to swim which made the holiday extra special. The hotel is very near to the beach and you can pick up a dolmus which will take you to marmaris . Our favourite place was, "The Sports Bar" the staff were very friendly and it is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. If you are a Liverpool supporter you will need to find THE LFC sports bar in Icemler and take a trip to Marmaris to THE ANFIELD BAR. I can honesly say that this was one of the best holidays that we have had in Turkey Thankyou Alvaro

Having never been to Turkey before, we were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful surroundings, lovely people and delicious food. Whilst there, we ate and drank Turkish which was lovely. The apartment, although basic, was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We only stayed a week which I now know is not enough. 10 days is the mininum for this beautiful country. Two things spoiled our holiday: We were pestered incessantly by the street traders and when we said to one particular trader that we will think about it, he swore at us. This is a "one off" and when we told this story to other traders, they apologised on his behalf. The other unfortunate incident was that we were sold a "Alvaro" pub CD which was going to be a great reminder of our time at the hotel, but when we tried to play it, it was empty. I am hoping it was a genuine mistake and not a deliberate ploy to make money.
Despite that, out memories of Turkey are delightful and we will happily return another time.
