You will love it here !!!!!
I booked this last minute to be with friends who had already been there for one week. I paid a little extra but it was worth every penny. Simply furnished rooms, but comfortable with welcoming air conditioning. The staff are very friendly and entertaining day and evening. Book your Turkish Bath outside of the hotel though as this is expensive in house. Recommend going on the Lazy Cruise and Jeep Safari, £10 and £9 each. Stay away from Horse Safari !!! You wil receive a free Turkish Bath when you book a tour. Book the BBQ night at the hotel, great value for money, food is good and good entertainment. Take Sterling money and exchange it there, you will get a better exchange. Shops also accept GBP and Euro and these get you better value. Fanstastic holiday !!!!

we stayed at the club exelsior on the 20 july first time in turkey hotel was nice and clean staff were friendly and very helpful didnt need to use the rep . Shop next door was open 24 hours and has for the bar staff the were very friendly and liked a laugh making everyone welcome . Food was very good both at the hotel and out and about. Would like to go back soon.
Very nice apartments
Just back from the Club Excelsior Apartments this morning and do rate it highly. We didn't use the Jnr apartments next door however from quick inspection it did seem fine. Our room was to the back of the hotel, no pool view but again this was not a problem. The rooms are kept very clean, maid service every day. The onsite services are excellant. We had an excellant turkish bath, leg massages, the ladies in our party had manicures and pedicures and we also got a tattoo - excellant quality. The pool is very good and we all enjoyed using the slides. The staff are friendly and all go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. The apartments are geared for family's and although there were none in our party it didn't detract from our holiday - I have great admiration for the staff because they put their all into the routines and games and activitie - they work really hard and they look like they really enjoy themselves! The food is good - even enjoyed speedy room service when we wanted to be extra lazy. This hotel isn't right at the heart of Marmaris however isn't too far if you want to experience the Beach front or bar street - the cost of a taxi doesn't break the bank - between 5 and 10 lira (its metered but sometimes the traffic was a little busy which made it a little more expensive). Beware though, traffic is MUCH different in Turkey, quite an experience! Most of the trips that we went on included transport to and from it so its more about if you enjoy going to the beach front or bar street at night. Its walkable but we preferred the taxi due to the heat. First timers to marmaris but it was excellant!
amazing place!
Just returned from the club exelsior, my sister and i had our first experience of turkey, we loved every minute. The hotel could do with a little upgrading in the rooms but they were kept very clean which is the main thing, we hardly spent any time in it anyway. The facilities are great, there is a gym, turkish bath (amazing!), massage parlours, clothes shop, hairdressers, tattooist and a shop in the middle of the 2 exelsiors, junior and club. The atmosphere around the place is brilliant, the staff put on music and do dance routines around the pool, they also do pool football, pool volleyball and much more, there is a games/snooker area in the hotel too oh and a lovely jewellers. The staff are brilliant, cant do enough for you and go out of their way to get to know you, Tom the manager does a great job, service is ace, Gurkhan is one of the entertainment guys, he has a real mischievous look about him as he sneaks around with a giant water gun :0), Restaurant and bar staff are lovely, Leo (who is actually Kurdish) always comes to welcome you, Billy is sooo sweet, Nuri is gorgeous!!! (if only i was 20yrs younger :0( lol ). We went on loads of trips, we booked with Aziz at B&B travel, if you leave the hotel, turn left at road and he's the one facing the cemetary, he is a qualified teacher, trying hard to save to go to Australia, lots of these guys are at university and doing these jobs for summer. Anyway, we went to the 'real' turkish night, all hotels do their own with just a belly dancer and a bbq, we decided to book the real one, it has its own building, it was all inclusive, food was good, and you had wine on table then go to bar for anything else, all included in the price, we got a bit bored at the end, its a long show, so we left early but a good night all in all, we went to talk of the town (tell taxi driver to take you to Cheers bar), it's a drag show, now into its 12th year, good show, meal nice too, you get one drink free when you go in, then they run a tab and you get your bill at the end, we went on the lazydays cruise, food and drink included, all for a tenner! With Aziz you get the breakfast too, food is pretty crap to be honest but the trip is lovely, while on that cruise we booked the moonlight cruise, it goes out at night and you see the coastline of marmaris lit up, its beautiful, it has food which was really nice, you pay for drinks, a tab is run on this too, it has a disco, the guys on the boat got us up for dance routines, what a laugh we had, brilliant night and all for 3lira! , we went on a shopping trip with the reps, they took us to the bazaar, its huge!!!, went to real leather shop, my sis and i got a leather bag each in the sale for 20 quid!, then on to vogue jewellers, sis bought a fabulous watch and got 19% discount. That trip was only 4 quid. For our last day we went on a village trip, we visited a typical turkish home, the old lady sat outside and we were able to take photos of her, she was lovely, they sleep and eat from the floor!, we went to a mosque, a lovely waterfall, a wishing tree where you tie a ribbon to it and make a wish, no charge for that, then to another 400yr old tree and you walk round it anticlockwise 3 times and apparently have a long and happy life!, lastly we visited a carpet mill where we saw how the hand made carpets are made, very very expensive but you can see why when you see the work that goes into them. Meant to say you are picked up at hotel for all of these trips, some return you, some not but it's only about 7 lira in a taxi from the harbour. Prices are good, food especially, some places you eat give you a free breakfast in the morning, we ate at mad boys, anfi, dominoes and in the hotel, all food great. Drinks bit dearer, for spirits anyway, i drank the local lager Efes, it's 3 for a small, 4 for a large, its lovely lager. I'd recommend eating in the Anfi, just down the road across from the amphitheater, dominoes and you must go to Flares if your'e scottish! It's owned by a guy from Ayrshire where i live, its right next door to the real turkish night place, he makes his own square sausage, even has black pudding and potato scones, yummy and if you're going out he'll make you up rolls on anything you want and you can take it with you! Jeez i think thats all, hope this has been useful to anyone reading it, i'm deffo going back next year!!! cheers Mags xx
Would highly recommend...
We stayed here for a week in June and had a great time. I've been to Turkey approx 6 times and this was the nicest hotel that we've stayed in. The staff were wonderful ~ yes there were pool games going on but we were never, ever hassled to join in! We were invited, said no and were left in peace. Staff did try and get you to eat in the restaurant but every single restaurant that you pass in Turkey has someone outside trying to get you to eat there! There were never rude and never aggressive. There was entertainment every evening ~ some nights were better than others but you could easily have never moved from the hotel if you didn't want to. Our rooms were clean and cleaned every day with fresh towels every other day. We would absolutely stay here again and in fact are looking at booking again for later in the year..
Amazing!!
Hi everyone, if you are planning on staying at club exelsior then do it! This was my second time there! I really enjoyed my first stay and my second was even better. I went with my mum and dad and a friend ( were both 15) and had a great time. All the Bar staff are very friendly always come and sit with you to have a chat and see how you are. There is lots of stuff to do there but me and my friend loved just chilling by the pool. The rooms are very nice and clean we were lucky enough to get pool view the second time! Reception desk staff were very helpful too and speak very good english. There are 2 parts to club exelsior i stayed in the smaller part (JNR) the other part is bigger. I strongly reccomend this place to anyone of any ages. Me and my friend were in tears when we had to leave! Definately go back next year! Love it!
Absolutley Fantastic Holiday
We went to Turkey on 25 May 07 for a week. Best holiday we have ever had. Went with another family and was fab. Quite a lively hotel but you don't have to participate if you don't want to, yes the staff do try to encourage you to join in but they just have a laugh, they don't push you into anything, except the pool, but only if you give as much as you get from them, they never done it to anyone that never done it to them. Staff are not over friendly as stated in another review, they are just making sure that you enjoy your stay, also we offered to buy them drinks and they politely refused as they were not allowed alcohol at work. I think your holiday here purely depends on what type of people are there at the same time as you. We had a great load of people, not that we spoke to them all but there was no hassle, yeh a few loud nights and dancing on the bar but the kids joined in too and there was never any inappropriate behaviour, as I would have pulled my little girl out of the hotel straight away. Will definatley be going back and keeping in touch with Jack, Volkan and Compie. So upset to leave, never cried before coming away from holiday, but did this time, the staff in Exelsior Jnr just made our holiday so special and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a fun holiday.
Club Exelsior
We have just come back from club exelsior for the second time and we had a great time. its so good for the children and adults we went for two weeks this year. the staff are excellant and friendly. you have to meet tom, reece and roy who made our holiday. i would recommend this hotel to any one with a budget as drinks are cheap, litre of lager £2. walk to the harbour and sample lovely food costing aprox £8 for a fish cooked in shrimp and caviar sauce. we went in may 2007 and the weather was about 32 to 34 every day except one. we went to turtle beach and a jeep safari and had a turkish bath and would also recommend these to anyone.
Horrible, horrible, horrible
Good grief. I'm so surprised to read some of the reviews on this hotel. We were unfortunate enough to pick this hotel for a last minute break. The hotel is tired and shabby, the staff overly friendly and pushy, but the real joy was the other guests. Women the age of my grandmother brawling in the corridors - "You looked at my bloke you bleeping bleep bleep bleep". That was the first night - how delightful. Pool games were repetitive and annoying, everyone just relaxing in the pool had to get out of the way for over grown teenagers to play at being all macho and hard. A very, very unpleasant older lady in hardly any clothing dancing on the bar table, rubbing herself all over the barmen, singing rude lyrics at the top of her voice - bad enough at any time of the night, but this was at lunchtime when other guest were eating. I really can't describe the depths of deravity we witnessed in a week, the only redeeming feature is that Marmaris is lovely, the town, especially around the marina was buzzing in the evenings and we all loved it. Also food very reasonable and shopping great value.
fabulous place - for all ages!
my fiance and I were in marmaris when the bomb hit in August 06 and it defintely would not put us off going back! I don't give 5 stars lightly when rating a place! the apartments were excellent, all with air con and very spacious. the staff are very attentive and fantastic fun! they do all they can to help you have a good time the location of the apartments was fine for us, probably a 10min walk to the beach but there is one section on way that is pitch dark at night - taxi is cheap anyway so no need to walk anywhere the marina area is gorgeous with some really nice restaurants, there's a rooftop one that does fabulous food and is very reasonably priced - DiVella or something very similar it was called. food was second to none and service in the same league the beach was not great but the pool at the apartments was fantastic, I'm not usually a fan of pools but it was definitely above average. Food in the apaprtment complex was fantastic, no need to go to far! The barbeque night was fantastic fun, good way to meet other couples if you want to. if you prefer a nice beach go round the coast to icmeler, take the boat taxi from marmaris beach - very pretty beach with no leering local men (marmaris beach is definitely not a place to go topless)! we are a young couple and thoroughly enjoyed this holiday - club excelsior excelled our expectations! It is a perfect place for young families although I don't think anyone could not enjoy this place! almost forgot to mention the boat trips - value for money is amazing! walk along the marina and get yourself an all day boat trip including lunch for less than £8 per person. they take you around coves and you get to jump off the back of the boat - fantastic fun! in the heart of summer the boat is a good way to enjoy the sun without it being too hot - the breeze is very welcome! check out some of our photos! when we have a couple of kids this will be top of my list to return to!
