We went as a party of six, my sister,...
10 / 10
May 2008, Mrs C Humphreys

We went as a party of six, my sister, her husband, her two adult daughters, my husband and myself. We booked 2 apartments one two bedroomed and a one bedroomed. They were on the first floor we were on the third but it didn't matter we could phone each others apartments and we usually met at the pool or reception. Both apartments were clean and bright couldn't fault them. They were cleaned every day and towels and sheets changed twice during our weeks stay. We were offered the flexi dine at the hotel where you could have breakfast and evening meal for either 4 or 7 days, but we declined this as we like eating at the local restaurants, but if we had been offered breakfast for the 7 days we may have had this as they do a good full english breakfast we had this a couple of times. You could still eat at the hotel if you are not on flexi dine, the hotel operates a wrist band system whereby no money is exchanged in the hotel, restaurant or bar. You just put money on your wrist band at reception to pay for things then just top it up as and when.
Icmeler is a lively place plenty of bars and restaurants we went to a different one every night and still there were a lot of others we didn't get to go to. The waiters are a laugh they dance and put on acts we had a few really good evenings in some of the bars. Most restaurants and bars will give you a lift back to your hotel sometimes we even got picked up if we booked the restaurant during the afternoon. Restaurants we went to were: Venice, Majestic, Romance, Chinese (forgot the name) and Waterfall. Didn't have a bad meal in any of them. We usually paid between 75 & 98 YTL for 2 which included wine drinks and 2 main courses and one salad to share (we didn't get starters as you usually got pitta bread and dips to start free) and they nearly always gave you coffee or brandy when they brought the bill. You can get this cheaper a lot of places did deals for around £6.80 (around 18 YTL) some even gave you free wine with this, the chinese did this offer as much as you could eat and free wine which with drinks cost 45YTL for 2 our cheapest night.
We did 2 excursions the lazy day boat cruise and the turkish night we did these through a local travel agent which were much cheaper than you would have paid if you had done them through the rep. They were both very good we paid £12.00 each for the cruise and £15.00 each for the turkish night which included unlimited drinks. The cruise we heard someone say they paid £22.00 each doing it through the rep so always go to the local travel agents you get the same excursion for less money.
Transport is very good we never had to wait for the dolmash into Icmeler it was always waiting just a few yards from the hotel it cost 1 YTL to Icmeler and 1.75YTL to Marmaris.
One last thing you do get hassle from waiters trying to get you into their restaurants and bars and shop staff trying to get you into their shop, but it was harmless even though we had my 2 nieces with us aged 19 & 22 they got quite a bit of attention especially the elder one but again it was harmless she just laughed it off and told them she had a boyfriend. No one stepped over the mark. We probably spent around £420.00 for the week which included the 2 excursions this was eating out every night and a couple of breakfast and lunches thrown in cheaper than other places we have been to we normally spend around £500.00 per week.
Summing up a good holiday lovely weather except one day when we had a storm although that cleared up quickly enough. I would like to go back.

The Julian Forest Hotel is a little...
10 / 10
Dec 2007, teztortoise

The Julian Forest Hotel is a little bit out of the way from Icmeler, but the accommodation makes up for that.
The hotel is excellent, the staff friendly and there are two very good pools. We went allocation on arrival with Direct Holidays at a bargain price and we were very pleased indeed with our holiday. There is a bus into Icmeler every few minutes which costs 40p each way.
The hotel is in a very quiet area surrounded by forest. There is another hotel next door but little else nearby. If you wanted to stay on site there is a restaurant and bar. They sometimes have entertainment on of an evening, but we enjoyed the bus ride into Icmeler every night about 3 miles away.
Marmaris is easy to get to, just go into Icmeler and take another bus about £1 straight into Marmaris. I would recommend the Julian Forest to anyone and Icmeler is a great place for all ages. It is not too big but big enough to spend two weeks there with plenty of bars and places to eat.
We found the people of Icmeler to be very friendly and more laid- back than in Bodrum or Marmaris.

Hey I’m Mandie and I came to turkey...

Nov 2007, Miss M.w West

Hey I’m Mandie and I came to turkey in October this year and I loved every minute there. I met loads of nice people there especially Mehmet 17yrs bless him he was so sweet to me and I still stay in touch with him.
The food was very nice there and I had the flexi dine meals which let me tell you is better then buying in a restaurant on the street lol. The people there are very nice the only problem was the wasps as I am allergic to them but I never got stung once but my niece Demi did 1yrs bless her.
The hotel is very nice and the cleaners interacted with us all there they loved the children especially lol. Shoey and Ali where the best entertainer’s lol yeah even you Ezra you was very good with the children and loved dancing with every one.
The dolmas run every so many mins and it is very cheap to go on. The hair dresser was very nice and caring he even gave me 2 free tattoos bless him and even when my tattoo came off in the pool he did it again for me. If you meet him he is the nicest man, he is the man who does the Turkish bath I sat with him every day to keep him company as he was on his own bless him, miss ya Can!!! I will see every one again in May 08 lol bye to Gulsum, Tolga, Adnan, Mehmet, Haluke, Sinan, Erol, Emrah, Ezra, Ali, Shoey (feel the quality is all shoey ses it jk) bye all miss ya Mehmet I'll see you soon love Mandie x x x x x x

6 / 10
Nov 2007, Mrs A Price

On arrival the staff at reception and on any other occasion dealing with them was very somber indeed, not a smile or hello did we ever get from them. The rooms were clean and modern but after the first week the level of cleaning dropped drastically I think this is due to the complex closing down for the season, but we where still there so it should not have.
Also sitting by the pool if you don't like wasp's don't sit there, there were loads - I like many others got stung. Over the last few days of our holiday the complex was closing down, as we were relaxing by the pool they were removing loungers tables and chairs taking away TVs, covering lights and on going to the restaurant found many items off the menus.
We had to pay to keep our room on as we had a late checkout but on returning to the room after sunbathing found all the beds clothes had been removed so an afternoon nap was out of the question. I think they should change the last date of the season as this did really put a dampener on the holiday, we were there to relax not to watch the apartments being packed up in front of our eyes.
The staff in the restaurant were very happy to help and always had a smile, the food was adequate but we ate mostly in town at the Sports bar, Noels, Chef or Harrys steakhouse are all recommended.

First time visit to the Julian Forest...
9 / 10
Nov 2007, Mr K Worsnop

First time visit to the Julian Forest Apartments and it won't be the last, the apartment was lovely and clean as was the complex, 99% of the staff were fantastic except one of the reception staff who couldn't raise a smile.
Two pools one large and a smaller pool with slides and a toddler area, plenty of sun loungers available close by, an open air pool bar/restaurant. Decided to try their flexi dine for 4 days which was Breakfast and Evening meal costing £39 each which I found very reasonable, the choices could have been a bit more varied but the meals were good, the waiters especially Haluk and Adnan were fantastic a great laugh.
For late in the season I was surprised that there was some entertainment on site in the evening which was great, which included the guests getting involved.
If the staff get to read this I would just like to say a big thank you for a great time. I would also like to say a big thank you to the Holiday Rep Katie for her help and assistance.

Just returned from Julian Forest and...

Oct 2007, Miss J E Pearce

Just returned from Julian Forest and just had to write a review to add to the rest of them ! I went for a week with my partner and 9 yr old daughter. After searching the internet for a holiday, Julian Forest seemed to have the best reviews in the resort of Icmeler which is where we wanted to go. I couldn't fault this place at all. Staff very friendly, everything very clean and although out of the main resort, there are regular buses in and taxi's if you didn't fancy the hike!
We did walk in one evening which was pleasant and took about 1/2 hour at a leisurely pace, only did it the once though ! Mixed reviews already written about the "flexi dine "but we decided to take advantage of the 4 day dine and I am very glad we did. They do have quite an extensive menu and we found the food to be really nice, plus because the complex is a fair walk from any bars/restaurants, if you go out for the day, the last thing we found we wanted to do after a hectic day out was to come back, change and go back out again to eat so was nice to just eat out on your door step. Yes a few wasps flitting about and I am sure I did a few nutty dances because of them by the pool side but it certainly wouldn't put me off returning. Swimming pools lovely and lots of beds although you do get the saddo's who cant resist an early rise to secure a sunbed with their towels !
Lots of lovely eating places in the main resort, Kingsland Restaurant was very nice. We did a Jeep Safari which was excellent, a full on day of just getting wet and dirty but we had so much fun and it was nice to see other area's of Turkey and the way people live. We took the water taxi in from Icmeler to Marmaris which for the three of us cost about £6 one way. I have stayed in Marmaris before and was nice to revisit but on the whole I think Icmeler is much nicer. We did an all day boat trip which was a really chilled out day, a few stop off's to swim off the boat which was gorgeous and a nice lunch and short visit to a secluded beach.
Julian Forest is a beautiful place and ideal for couples and families, it really wasn't a problem that it wasn't centrally located. The transfer time as previously stated was 2 & a half hours as you are the last to get dropped off. I like to holiday in different places but I am certain I will return to Julian Forest. 10/10...

Oct 2007, Ms J Lowes

This is a lovely hotel, we found it very clean, nice spacious room. You have to use a watch thingy and put money on it to spend in the shop and the bar which is a bit of a pain.
The barbeque night is very good value and lovely food. It is a fair way out of the resort but this means that it is peaceful, and picturesque. There are always taxis outside, or the bus. As usual the taxi ride is nail biting!
Icmeler is a very friendly place, yes they try to get you to eat in their place as you walk by but just say no and keep going, and they give up. The Turkish adore children and make you feel very welcome.
One restaurant waiter helped us buy our phone card and even went to the phone and dialled the numbers for us! Another place that we went to a few times took us home in their car every night.
The food is lovely - the pita bread and garlic dip they give you as an entree is to die for!

Me, my hubby and children came on holiday this year to Julian, we absolutely loved it. Staff were great, miss everyone, hoping to come back next year - wish it was sooner!
Pools were great, food was great and the flexi-dine was really good and the kids especially liked the barbecue.
The rooms were really big and clean
If you are thinking of going to Turkey, go to Julian Forest.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Julian Forest.
The rooms were excellent there were 5 of us in one room and there were loads of space. We took our little girl who is 1 and it was perfect for her. The bar staff, cleaners and waiters are really friendly and helpful. And the entertainment team were fantastic really nice guys!!!
The hotel is in the old town but it takes about 20 mins to walk to the centre part a nice walk!!
I would go back again it was really great and would recommend any one else to go to.

Just back from two weeks at the Cub...

Sep 2007, Mrs D Knights

Just back from two weeks at the Cub Julian forest, what a fantastic place.
Apartments spotlessly clean, towels and bed linen changed every other day. Staff all very friendly and cannot do enough for you, especially adman and hattice. entertainment team were great and lots of fun.
Katie the travel rep was really nice and always willing to give advice and information. We upgraded to half board using the flexi dine for seven days which gives you breakfast or lunch and your evening meal, loads of choice, we ate something different every day, fantastic value for money.
Slight problem with wasps but not as bad as some people have said on their reviews.
We had ground floor apartment right opposite the bar and had no problems with the noise levels. Air conditioning great and free and definitely needed as temperature hit 54 on one day and above 40 the rest of the time.
Pools are great and water aerobics with chovet and ali is a must as is killer pool and darts, water polo and mega splash are a good laugh too.
Icmeler is a lovely town, try, and eat at friends and Kingsland Chinese both highly recommended. If you need to change any money go to the isik supermarket which is on the road that leads to the beach good exchange rate and lovely people too. The talk of the town show is a must, good, clean fun which is suitable for all ages.
Transfer from airport a bit longer than stated in brochure as they stop for comfort break halfway and the Julian forest is last drop off. Only downside to our holiday was we had three hour delay at Dalaman airport coming home, and what an expensive airport £4 for can of Fanta and £9 for big Mac meal, so would advise taking something to eat and drink with you on your return home just in case you get delayed.
Overall fantastic holiday cannot fault the Julian forest at all and have already booked for august2008.cannot wait to return and already counting the weeks.
