Jardins de Paris Republique Hotel Reviews
" It was a superb hotel if you compare... "
Submitted By: Mrs Debbie
It was a superb hotel if you compare quality and price. Nice small rooms, clean, and a very hygienic bathroom (with a small bath). Breakfast is served in a small room and very basic, but quite enough to keep you going till noon. The lady who helps serving is very friendly! One remark, take your breakfast quite early, it's a small room, otherwise you may have to wait for a place to sit. Anyway, it was an hotel in a superb location to discover Paris. Close to the subway. And around the hotel are nice bars and restaurants, which are much less expensive than close to the center. (comparing 2€ for a coffee instead of 7€!)
" This was a 3-night break in Paris... "

This was a 3-night break in Paris travelling by Eurostar from Waterloo. The journey was excellent, very civilised.

I’m glad we had plenty of time to book in at Waterloo though as there were quite a few others trying to do the same. Our hotel was the 2 star Hotel Republique very near to The Place De La Republique. and on about 7 floors. There was a lift but it was tiny so we only used it once. We only really slept at the hotel, choosing to eat out for all meals. Breakfast is available. We made few demands on the staff but they seemed very friendly, always ready with a greeting and a smile.

The room was quite small but clean although it had been some time since it had been decorated. In our view quite good for the money considering it was a city centre hotel. We used the underground for travelling around buying the 10 ticket carnet for 10.5 euros making it 1 euro per journey-very reasonable. We also went on the Batobus on The Seine which goes up and down the river between the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. 11 euros each but you can get on and off where you like (8 different stops) and the ticket lasts all day until 7.00pm so the earlier you buy it the better the deal is.

As you can imagine eating in Paris is easy. It’s important to remember that cafes tend to charge more depending on their position. So if they are on a square or street corner you could be paying 4.5/5 euros for your coffee but a short distance away it can be much less.

All in all a very enjoyable stay and it didn’t rain on us once!
