Myself and my partner spent one week...
8 / 10
Jun 2006, Miss L Turner

Myself and my partner spent one week at the Griego mar on an all inclusive basis. Checking in took about 5 minutes and we were allocated a room on the 8th floor (top floor) but we didn't have to wait long for the lift any of the times we traveled up or down from the room.
The room itself was spotless containing one double bed, one sofa bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, dressing table, television and bathroom. We also had a small balcony. We were situated at the back of the hotel but the larger family rooms which face the pool have much bigger balcony space, the size of our room was fine for the 2 of us.
The room was cleaned every day of our stay and given clean sheets and towels. The electricity works when you insert your keycard into a slot on the wall and the air conditioning works while the keycard is in but is only really needed at night anyway.
The hotel has a fairly large pool and although sun bed space was reserved by about 9am each day there was a small terrace next to the pool which was also used for sunbathing and there was another roof terrace on the 8th floor also used for sunbathing. Sun went off the pool at about 4:30 but you could sunbath on the roof terrace for a lot longer. I would recommend that you purchase an umbrella if you want shade as the hotel only has about 10 and they are fought over by families and older couples as it does get very hot.
The restaurant served basic but good quality food. Breakfast included cereals bread fruit toast and the usual bacon, sausage egg and beans. Lunch and dinner was various soups, salads, cold meats and cheeses, pasta, fish, meat, potatoes and vegetables and deserts included fruit cakes ice creams and various hot puddings including rice pudding.
In summer there are 2 bars open the poolside bar which is open from 10am to 1am and Pepes bar which is open from 10pm to 3am, all inclusive drinks run from 10am until midnight but if you want to purchase drinks after this time or purchase imported drinks or snacks then they are served at a reduced cost to all inclusive customers.
Over all this hotel was clean and the food and drink was plentiful and good and we had no problems while we were there.

Quite frankly, Torremolinos is not...

Jun 2006, Mrs J Hunter

Quite frankly, Torremolinos is not the kind of place you'd go to if you're looking for culture, but if you're looking for a cheap 'n' cheerful, bucket & spade type holiday, then this is for you! I would say that the resort and hotel are suited to anyone with a young family. Indeed, my husband commented that "I bet this is what it's like in Butlins"!
The hotel was clean enough, but the food was a big minus point for us. I think if we were to go again, then we'd stick to 'bed & breakfast'. There's a fantastic Chinese buffet/sushi restaurant only 2 minutes walk from the hotel (as much as you can eat for 8 euros), which I'd recommend anyone try - it's certainly a million times better than the food at the Griego Mar!
The hotel is located quite a way from the beach, but no-one seemed to mind as the pool area was always packed full. Be aware though that the sun loungers are covered in towels by 8 a.m.
All in all, it wasn't our kind of thing really (we're a 30-something married couple, with no kids), but anyone with a young family should love it.

Just come back and had a great time,...

Apr 2006, Mr Andy Pratt

Just come back and had a great time, having the year before stayed in a 5* AI in Egypt this hotel was in comparison and believe me a paid a lot more to go to Egypt.
I took my partner and our two little girls aged 3 and 5 first family holiday together, staff were great in the restaurant and the lady and the man that organised the kids club were very friendly and great with the kids.
Rooms in the hotel were very clean and decent size, views I believe were better in other parts of the hotel but mine sadly was not that did not bother me(don’t expect to see the beach from your balcony). Yes it is a bit of a walk to the beach but if my two girls can do it any body can, and it’s a nice walk down through the shops which they call the main strip to the steps down to the beach.
Food all in all good a decent choice kids were happy with the food I had something different every day could not complain. Bar staff bit miserable but that’s about it. Good holiday would definitely go again worth every penny.

Apr 2006, Mr S Jarvis

My Partner and I arrived at the Griego Mar on Mar 23rd. We had only booked it 2 days previously.
When we got to the Hotel we found the Reception area lovely and clean and the staff polite and friendly. We were shown to our room and it was clean, tidy and probably the average size of any 3 star hotel in Spain, and believe me I've stopped in dozens of them.
The Sun did go off the Pool area at around 4.30pm (this was just before the clocks changed), but there is a sun terrace on top of one of the buildings, so we could sunbathe there till dusk. The food was nothing special but it was adequate, and sometimes very good.
All the bar staff were very friendly and we didn't have to queue for more than a couple of minutes at the most. The location for the beach to be fair is not good, it would be a fair trek for anyone with kids. The rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels and sheets.
The swimming pool was large by today’s standards although very cold, but certainly not crowded.
We are going again in September.

Travelled with the family to Griego...

Nov 2005, Mrs D Kershaw

Travelled with the family to Griego Mar in July 2004,ages ranging from 4 to 65 years. There was something for all to do. Food was quite good considering it was only a 3* hotel . Entertainment was acceptable ranging from bingo to flamenco dancing' the rooms were a little pokey but were clean and the maids visited every day.
I would have preferred a separate children’s pool and there were not enough sunbeds for everyone, the queues at the bar got quite long at peak times as there was only one bar open during the day, there was another one open in the night club in the evenings but as this was under the hotel it was a bit of a trek if you were watching the entertainment. All in all it was good value for what we paid and we would return in the future.

Mar 2005, pearl

Just come back from Torremolinos. We found the hotel ok for what we paid went at last min did not no where we were staying we went with first choice.
We were half board food was very greasy to say the least even the chips looked as if they had been boiled in fat. We always found something that we could eat so to us it was no problem.
If I had of paid full whack then we would of been up in arms. Room could of been cleaned better. I cleaned the bathroom and windows myself. Weather was good but we did not need air con on but can understand that it would be a must in the next few months.
It was quite away from the beach a good twenty min walk for us and we are quite fit, a little longer coming back as its up hill with a lot of steps. I must say as well that we found the hotel good on price for drinks ( not water). Used legends one night across the road paid over 2 euros more for the same drinks so be warned!! The staff were very nice too in the hotel.
Hope I have helped never done one before happy hols we paid 270 for a 2 weeks half board each, did we pay too much ??

The hotel far exceeds the 3 star...
9 / 10
Jul 2004, Miss A Wilson

The hotel far exceeds the 3 star standard I have received in other Spanish hotels.
The policy of turning off the air conditioning for defrosting was waved during the heat in 2004 . If balcony door were kept closed, the rooms were comfortable. Rooms were clean, ensuite with balcony.
The food was varied and lots of choice. If you were willing to try new dishes. For those people who would not try, the standard sausage and chips is always available.
Staff are polite and tried very hard to speak the languages of all guests. At my last count, they managed about four different ones. The pool was small but kept clean by the food ban, for those guests who adhere to it. The Greigo is excellent value.
My only complaint was moaning guests . Mosquitoes don’t just live at the Greigo.
With lots of people, you may have to wait to be served at the bar. But what’s the rush it’s a holiday? I have sent both family and friends to this hotel and no one has complained. Paying for a 3 star holiday, I was impressed.

The Package included air conditioned...
1 / 10
Jul 2004, Mr S Cooke

The Package included air conditioned room.
The hotel switched this off during the periods of 2am to 10 pm. Torremolinos is currently having an average temperature of 35 degrees. The CNN weather reports were warning of the dangers of these extreme conditions.
I made an official complaint as the rooms were exceeding 30 degrees plus, they said it was management policy. I spent the entire holiday sleeping on the balcony. My wife is now under the doctor for a poisonous foot caused by mosquito bites. This practice of turning off the air conditioning is going to cause a tragedy especially for couples with young babies.
The lifts, we were on the ninth floor and the lefts broke down on several occasions each and every day.
The location, we were told that it was 600 yards down some steps to the sea .
You firstly have to walk three quarters of a mile to get to the steps. In a taxi it is 10 minutes at a cost of six euros.
The food, we had to pay for all drinks including water with our evening meal. All the vending machines offering water for sale were all broke and it seemed it has been like this for a number of weeks.
The room, we discovered we had a sea view after four days as I saw a glimpse between two horrendous buildings . The distance must have been around two miles.
It smelled of stale water and was basic.
