nice but dirty!!!!

Oct 2010, happygirl

we finally arrived at our apts at 7.00pm afetr a major blunder by travel republic sending us to the wrong apts!!! anyone beware who is goin to stop in cambrils with these apts u have to go into salou first to get the key to the apts. on arrival the apts looked very nice and spacious. we had a 2 bed apt though we had only booked a 1 bed and the living area was large and addequate. upon further inspection though the whole place was filthy!!!! the kitchen looked as though it hadnt been cleaned all season and the towels and sheets had mould on them!!!! we were glad that we were only stayin for 3 nights here then moving on to another clean hotel!! there was a change of bedding and towels so i changed them all before we used any of the facilities and the whole place was left a lot cleaner than it was when we first arrived.

My husband and I both in our 60's,...

Dec 2006, Mrs R Cunningham

My husband and I both in our 60's, arrived at Pins I Mar but couldn't find where to obtain the key. We hadn't been informed that you had to the get key in Salou. We had to take a return taxi costing 18 euro's back into Salou.
When we got the key it didn't fit the lock, we had to then take yet another return taxi back into Salou, where they gave us the key for a different apartment.
Not a very good start to our holiday. So please remember to collect key in Salou. The apartments were in a superb location. Right on the beach and in a very quiet area between Salou and Cambrils.
The apartment was very basic but was clean and also the communal passageways and grounds outside were kept spotless but there was no kettle, toaster, TV or most importantly a safe so we had to carry our passports, tickets, money etc around with us at all times. A bag of linen and towels was left in twice. Bring your own towels, the ones supplied were dreadful.
If these problems were rectified we would have no hesitation in going back.

The apartment was extremely clean on arrival. We stayed there for a week. We had no issues or problems with the accommodation. I had read some reviews before we set off on our holiday and had mixed feelings and felt about nervous about our choice but that changed once we arrived.
We were happy with the facilities provided in the apartment i.e. kettle, cooker top etc. The only drawback is that there is a train track right to the side of the apartments and the noise when a train passes is unbelievably loud. By the end of our week there we actually became immune to it.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and had no major problems.

We have just arrived home from our stay in Pins Marina. Apartments are very spacious and clean. Pool good size and bar staff very friendly. Terrific beach just across the road and much less congested than Salou or Cambrils. Everything near the apartments, supermarket, loads of bars with great food, souvenir shops.
Nightly entertainment geared for the kiddies, which they really enjoyed but if you are looking for nightclubs you are probably better off going into Salou, just a few minutes away on local bus costing €1.20 each way.
Only downside is that the train tracks run at the back of the building and it takes a day or two to get used to the noise. But we had a great time here and would return.

Great apartments, look a little run down from the outside but once you get inside they are great.
Really roomy with good sized balcony. Regular maid service and very friendly reception staff.
Beware the road outside as a young boy was killed on it the day before our arrival.
Pool kept clean and was of a good size, and the beach is just across the road and is quieter tan the main Salou beaches.
The only downside is that these little apartments are a little out of the way if you are looking for club action in Salou centre.
However, for families they are in an excellent location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We booked for as we thought...

Oct 2002, Mrs D A Doherty

We booked for as we thought Salou.....that’s what it had said in the travel agent’s advertisement....we were in for quite a nasty surprise. On arrival we found that our apartment was actually in a place called Villafortuney...a.k.a. hell closed down! Villafortuney was a small village 2km from Salou and 10km from Cambrils, and whilst I admit that we were there mid-October (for our 10th. wedding anniversary as well as our 1st ever European holiday as a family), it was like a dirty half-constructed ghost town.
Our apartment block was called Pins Marina, it was below even basic and the staff were not only unhelpful, they were downright rude; I was a barmaid in my 20's & therefore well used to being gawped at by lecherous men, but the stares and dirty comments from the barmen, in front of my children, did manage to annoy me. Only hours after booking in, the ceiling light simply fell from the ceiling, landing on the dining table and exploded right beside my two young children.
Thankfully they were in the process of walking away from the table at that exact moment, so whilst they along with everything in the living area and bathroom were showered with fragmented glass and wood, they were shaken but otherwise unharmed, However all our towels and my daughter’s brand new bikini were ruined. We sought help from reception but were lucky to a replacement bulb and a promise of repairs to be carried out the following day.
Determined to have a good time, we set off walking to Salou for some dinner but were ripped off by the taxi driver on the way back. Exhausted we put the kids in the twin bedroom and laid out the bed settee. Now I’m not exactly a featherweight but at 8 stone 10lbs I am certainly not overly heavy. I had just started to lay myself down on the bed settee when the slats underneath me gave way & I ended up with my rear end on the cold floor. Thinking that they had just maybe been a wee bit loose, my husband re-constructed the "bed" only for the same thing to happen! Good job my husband wasn’t first in bed...he weighs in at 15 stone & 4lbs!! We quickly changed the sleeping arrangements around as the children could manage to sleep on the bed settee without too many collapses!
Shortly afterwards we discovered that we were right beside an overly loud disco which broadcasted outside as well over a P A system. We knew before we left that the local train ran right past our building, but even it was quieter than this disco, which went on until the wee hours, even though there were barely a dozen people in it!!
The next morning we set off to buy some groceries only to find that most of the shops had closed down for the winter, so we had to pay through the nose for what little we could find.....being an experienced camper, I didn’t mind roughing it a little bit but neither my husband or kids had ever been abroad before so they were more than disappointed with their experience.
Of the three main theme parks advertised in the reception, one had closed for the winter, a second was to close at end of business the following day, only the third and final was to remain open....Universal Studios. I could not say anything bad about Universal, it was simply amazing, but Aquopolis was extremely disappointing not to mention expensive. The beach was only across the road but it was a "shelf" beach which was unsafe, in my eyes, for children as well as being an unholy wind tunnel.
All in all, apart from a fantastic day in Universal Studios and a very nice trip into Cambrils one night, we made the best of what we had but will never go back!!
