We arrived in this part of Torremolinos that seemed a bit run down and not near any thing to do.
Reception area ok (apart from a bar that never opened), staff friendly.
Our room was on the 11th (top) floor and as the lift do opened it got a lot worse. Ripped, old carpets, faded paint, very gloomy. Got down to the room, still very dated, bathroom suprisingly good and ok view from balcony.
We decided to go to have a look at what was on offer at lunch and not suprisingly it was very basic. We had a rice dish, pasta dish, battered fish, and a few more boring alternatives that were all very bland and dull.
It didn't get any better for dinner or breakfast the next day or the whole holiday for that matter.
Better to go just as serving opens as the 'restaurant' as it resembles a zoo in the rush hour.
Pool was ok if you had children, things going on around the pool to keep them occupied. We opted for the beach the rest of the holiday as it was much more peaceful.
As we ventured out of the hotel on the first night we came across 'plaza san miguel' which is a hill with zig-zaged steps all the way down to the beach lined with shops which was really nice and brightened up the holiday. Nice sea front, water sports on offer and not a bad price for the sun loungers (4 Euros each)
We decided to take a day trip to Gibrultar on one day but didnt not get much information, even thought the hotel has its own information room. The staff on reception didnt seem to know anything about them either.
We didn't get picked up from the hotel and got told by the hotel staff to stand in a different place from where the bus was stopping.
If you want a holiday thats good entertainment for children then this is the place, but if you have taste buds and like to feel comfortable then this is not the place to go. Torremolinos is a nice place if you know where you are going but there are definatly better hotels to stay in around this area.
I would not recommend this to anyone.

We came back last weekend from our 6 nights in the flamingo roc hotel. When we arrived there was scaffolding all around the outside of the hotel, painters were working quite high up however ther is paint splatters all over the walls below so watch out. The receptionist checked us in and advised us that the bar and pool was on the second floor.
We went up to our room and when we looked out the window we saw what should have been the pool. It was empty, had a green net all around it saying there was building work going on. They were fitting filters or something so ther was a big noisy pump, pumping cement into it all day. In fact none of the grounds looked like the photos as not only was the pool a building site but all around it and the level above were it looked like a grassy sunbathing area was also full or workmens junk. I couldn't understand why the receptionist would have said to us there was a pool on the second floor when clearly there wasn't. There was very limited space to sit outside. The rooms were nice, clean and basic however a couple we met had to go buy a hair dryer as they were told there would be one and there wasn't. Also there are no fridges available in any rooms, even self catering.
We booked Half board as we read reviews saying that you still get free bear and sangria with your meal and thought we could enjoy this and then go out to local bars for some drinks. This was not wise as everything is so expensive. We got stung £4.00 for a half pint and £4 for a vodka. We also asked the bar at the hotel who advised that a vodka was over £5.00. We decided to complain to the manager about the building work and got upgraded to Full board. We then paid the extra to get upgraded to All inclusive as this worked out cheaper than buying drinks either in local pubs or at the hotel.
There was also painters in the lobby which meant fumes not to mention cover sheets and buckets all over the place.
The meals weren't to great in my opinion and on one occasion was labelled completely wrong and i ended up having cheesy croquets instead of gammon ones which it stated...not impressed. Also the website said under all inclusive that snacks were available at the bar at certain times. When we asked what snacks were included we were told ham and cheese sandwhich. As you can imagine we were again less than pleased. What kind of hotel offers one snack. I don't like cheese so we got the one for my boyfriend which was two bits of bread stuck together with processed cheese and ham and flung in a bit of cling film. What a con!.
They do try with the entertainment, different things on every evening, however at this time of year we were informed by other guests that the spanish government send all their pensioners away for free. The place was swarmed at around 8pm by the spanish pensioners. They were all so rude, sitting in front of you, sitting right up your back so you can't push your chair out from the table to get up. they take every chair and if your not in yours for a minute they try to take it, and they also sit so that you can't get past to go to the bar or toilet etc. The funny thing was they all sat there everynight with out even so much as a soft drink between them. cheap bugers!
The maids sweep the rooms and then tip the shovel over the balcony so if you are sitting outside or looking over your own balcony then you get a head full of dust and paint chippings.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel for much at the moment. When the pool is completed and they do the gardens area up again in looks as though it mite be nice. It's close to the shops and the train station is also close. We choose to travel this way instead of booking a transfer. It is only 6 stops from the airport and costs £2.80 for two people. We took a nice long walk right to benalmadena which was nice to look at all the boats. We also took the train to fuengirola which looked like a lovely town to wander round however the weather was pants when we were there and it was too cold and windy and wet to be walking around.

Good value for money!! Small but nice room with a balcony. Perfect location - only minutes away from the train station (takes about 10 minutes to get there from the airport), close to the center of torremolinos, about 10-15 minutes walk to the beach.
Good food - buffet style, drinks such as beer, coke, sangria are for free even on half board.
Very nice staff;
But I didn't find it quiet-noisy street and very noisy neighbours (thin walls or sth because you can hear everything your neighbours do!!)

This hotel offers real value for money. Although the decor is rather tired, it is spotlessly clean and the staff are very helpful.
It is right in the middle of town, but despite having a room overlooking the road it was quite peaceful. Our bedroom was not particularly spacious, and the balcony was tiny, but it was very clean and the linen was changed twice a week. We could have had clean towels every day if we had wanted them.
We were on half board, and the meals were buffet-style. Breakfast was very good; the hot dishes were topped up frequently, the bacon crisp and the eggs just right ! There was a wide selection of cereals and muesli and dried fruit; hot dishes included sausages, bacon, fried bread, baked beans, tomatoes and eggs both poached and fried, and sometimes boiled.
The dinner buffet offered fish (at last one kind, and often two), two meat dishes, a vegetarian option and chicken. There were always two vegetables as well as potatoes and chips. There was a rice type special every day, sometimes paella with seafood. The food could have been hotter, but if you keep a buffet piping hot then the food becomes overcooked and dried out, so lukewarm is more palatable.
The pool is small and rather scruffy, but there is plenty of space to sit out in the grounds which were being replanted when we were there.
Entertainment was offered in the evenings, but we didn't see any of it, preferring to do our own thing. The hotel is next to San Miguel square, and there are plenty of nice walks in the area. The train station is only minutes away, as are the bus stops.
Last year we stayed at Los Palomas, and Roc Flamingo was ten times better. We had a TV in the room with ITV - something we had to pay for at every other Spanish hotel. We were even offered a complimentary cocktail by the hotel pool one morning, and complimentary brandy one evening in the dining room. Sangria, red wine and water were free of charge in the dining room at dinner.
This hotel offers real value for money. It is not glamorous, but it is clean and comfortable and we would recommend it for a budget Spanish holiday. The train fare from the airport is under 2 euros, and the bus fare to Benalmadena 1 euro. It is easy to reach Mijas, Fuengirola and other resorts from the bus stop at the end of the road - less than a minute away.
The only down side was the behaviour of a bunch of lads who were stuffed full of chemicals and booze and were in rooms on both sides of us. Our complaints were dealt with by the manager who threatened to throw them out, and I believe that they were asked to leave on the day that we checked out.
We have booked this hotel for an autumn break this year and are very much looking forward to it.

My friend and I stayed here for 5 days middle of November. Hotel is nice and central to shops. It's only 20 mins from the airport. Hotel staff were nice and friendly and helpful, no trouble to get you an extra pillow if you want one. Food was ok, but as I don't like hot dogs for breakfast or streaky hard bacon or warm, not hot beans I didn't eat much. But staff do their best. Hotel was busy so you have to expect it. There is a nice chinese restaurant just down to the right as you come out the hotel. I can recomend. If you fancy a change of scenery and food anytime. Chinese girl Zoe who worked there was lovely and friendly.

Stayed here many times, only 80 metres from underground train station, just €1.10 from airport train station which is 5 min walk from arrivals. Follow signs. Coach terminus 10 mins from hotel.
Excellent buffet hot breakfast and dinner with unlimited free beer, red wine, sangria and water. Don't know of any other hotel providing self service free drinks. Good variety of food, would prefer less pork, don't mind ham. If your on a late flight, there will be a cold plate awaiting you in the restaurant. 5 mins to San Miguel St which is the main commercial area. 15 mins to beach - lifts available up to San Miguel St for 50c.
Staff very nice especially waiter called Charles (from Argentina, I think!) who has lots of english and is very chatty. Activities by day and entertainment / shows by night. Lots of elderly spanish who were very friendly and don't cause a bother. Will definitely stay here again.

We just arrived home yesterday afternoon after 10 great days at the Roc Flamingo and to be honest, we loved it. The hotel was always very clean and the maids did a good job when required, right down to putting our child's teddy bear on his pillow for him coming back in from a great day at the poolside.
The food, were it breakfast, lunch or dinner always provided a good selection for most guests. Although, there was an occasion where pork was used in pretty much all dishes, albeit very tasty.
The pool side's a sun trap from around 8.30am till 6pm everyday.(seems very precise, but we tried and tested it) For the sun worshippers, there's also a grass section above and behind the pool that'll add another 2 hours of direct sunlight!!!
There was a nice mix of people from many countries at this hotel, as with most, but there was a real feeling of familiarity: everyone seemed to get along well.
We'd certainly recommend this hotel to anyone, great value for money, nice poolside and lots of fun for the children apart from a Sunday.
A great chance to meet new friends. We certainly did.

Thinking I was clever, I booked this all-inclusive holiday off Teletext, but it turned out to be a false economy!
The hotel was at best adequate, a fading, shabby relic of what it once must have been & populated almost ENTIRELY by elderly & geriatric Spaniards who seem to LIVE there! As a result, the whole hotel was geared towards them, from the food to the entertainment and the general atmosphere was not over-welcoming.
As a single mum with 2 teenage children, the worst thing was the total & utter lack of anything for the kids to do. There was a pint-sized swimming pool, a ramshackle table tennis table & bats and a couple of coin-operated machines in a lobby & a tiny sun terrace which filled up very quickly.
The hotel itself, being situated slap-bang in uptown Torremolinos was a good 15 minutes walk to the beach (which I never saw!) so it was not suitable to let the kids go alone.
The hotel itself was clean and tidy - if a bit fading and the food was acceptable (to me at least, although my 13-yr old son virtually lived on bacon sandwiches & chips the whole week!). My main gripe was the so-called "All-inclusive" status we had booked.
All-inclusive did not START until 12:30 lunchtime, was strictly limited as to what was offered (all the cheaper, non-premium varieties of produce) and finished again at 10pm at night! Some all-inclusive that! It WAS possible to get enough drinks in to get merry with - but still the kids were not catered for.
In conclusion, not a BAD hotel, but just not a lot of facilities for families, nothing much for kids to do and good food if you like a more continental style (which I do) Oh yes - how well can you fight for a lift with HERDS of elderly Spaniards with sharp elbows, disapproving stares, clucking& hissing noises & heated, pointed conversation obviously aimed at you in Spanish! 3 TINY lifts to service a 13-storey hotel - the queues/waits were ENORMOUS, especially at mealtimes!
Don't take the kids and don’t go all inclusive!

A great hotel for the money. My second visit so can't be bad.
The breakfast was a buffet style which seems to be the way with a lot of the Spanish hotels. Suited us fine - bacon and eggs if you wanted it or something a little more continental.
Just be careful about the large bowl of 'red stuff' at the end of the counter which isn't in fact tomato ketchup, but some sort of preserve to put on your toast!
The room was clean and tidy with plenty of space for clothes and belongings and nice laminate flooring (makes a change from tiles) plus a safe to hire too - always a wise decision I think and not badly priced.
The bathroom was basic but clean and there was always plenty of hot water. We had our air-con on during the morning and into the early afternoon as our room faced the pool and got the sun full on at that time but by the late afternoon (when it was time for our siesta, the air-con had cooled it down very nicely.
I'm glad we were on that side of the building as I would imagine the rooms on the other side getting VERY warm late afternoon/early evening when you want to be cool enough to get yourself ready for the evening’s frivolities...!
I could imagine the air-con struggling a bit in the extremely hot summer months on the Costa Del Sol, but it's better than nothing and that's a dead cert! We had a balcony - tiny but sufficient - with a table and a couple of chairs.
Pleasant to sit there on a barmy evening after a pleasant meal and a couple of drinks out and take in the air.
The staff were great - very smiley and helpful.
The drinks machine selling cold cans and water positioned just by the lifts on the ground floor was a bit pricey but there is an answer to this - buy your cans elsewhere! I did notice when we were checking out that a whole load of stuff can be hired (from irons to fans to small fridges). I didn't check the prices but it's nice to know the facility is there.
The hotel is also in a great location for all that is happening in Torremolinos. It's not the most luxurious hotel in the world but it's clean, it's friendly, it's central and it's alright!

This hotel was good value for money, the rooms were cleaned every day and given a daily change of towels if needed. The location of the hotel was quite good although the beach was about a 20 minute walk away, downhill.
We only ate breakfast in the hotel, didn't really fancy eating supper there as well! The food at breakfast time was ok although the bacon wasn't very appetising! We didn't find Torremolinos very good for eating out but Benalmadena has very nice restaurants by the marina
If I was ever to go back to this part of Spain i would stay in this hotel again. The only bad point about the holiday was the Spanish people and how rude and arrogant they were. They didn't make us feel very welcome in their country and would think twice about going back to Spain because of their attitudes to tourists.

Just returned from a holiday at the Roc and had a fantastic time. The staff were brilliant and my wife, who is in a wheelchair was treated as one of the family with nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent with a range to satisfy the most choosy of diners. The rooms were kept in an immaculate condition with the same standards being kept in the public areas. We will be going on holiday again soon and there are no prizes for guessing where our first choice will be.
