If you're not looking for 5 star luxury, this is a super hotel. Small and friendly sums it up.
This delightful hotel is not on Funchal's hotel strip, but in the middle of the old town - this is a working area of the town, but it is a quiet location and there are plenty of first rate restaurants within a 5 minute walk, as is the cable car to Monte.
Rooms are not over-large, but are more than adequate - try to get one with a balcony and sea view for a bit of extra legroom!
The staff were all so pleasant that it was a joy to chat with them!

Nice, friendly, smaller hotel only 35 bedrooms but staff very friendly and went out of their way to speak & help you.
Accommodation is on 4 floors, and the price increases per floor. The view on the 4th floor is something of extraordinary.
Rooms were nice and the service good. There are a lot of restaurants with typical Madeira food and wine. That’s something you can’t miss at all!
Avoid the circular restaurant Diamante next to the Beatles old yacht on the front. It’s very expensive and you will be disappointed with the food quality.
You’re not sorry at all for choosing this hotel, but I will go back in July when the weather is better:)

What can I say about this hotel? Well, it is absolutely top class!! The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean (in fact spotless) and the proximity to the Old town of Funchal is brilliant.
You have a card pass from reception on arrival which you can use on the back entrance of the hotel and this takes you directly to the restuarants of the Old Town. It is approx 5mins walk to the Cable car and the sea front.
All rooms overlook the pool but it is worth spending that little extra cash and having the sea view. My husband and I were lucky enough to be on holidays when Funchal celebrated its 500 year anniversary and we saw a lot of the activities from the comfort of our balcony room (fireworks and the excellent air display).
I cannot recommend this hotel enough really. It would have been nice to have had tea/coffee facilities in the room but that is just a minor, minor niggle. If a holiday in Madeira is what you want, this is the hotel to stay in.
