This hotel is a 2 star hotel which is definitely at the top of the range. It was spotlessly clean and our rooms were serviced every single day of our 2 week stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and always ready and willing to offer assistance. The food was basic but... more

This hotel is officially a 2 star but I wouild give it 2.5/3. A traditional style hotel with rooms looking over the pool (well ours was!). The standard of the room was very good and extremely clean. The towels were changed on a daily basis. The Breakfast was ok, but I have... more

Very basic room. No heater, we went in November. Shower did just that...it showered everywhere. The water had to run for over 5 mins for it to get warm. The beds were hard. The receptionist was on the phone when we arrived just after mid-day. She never hung up. Just shoved... more

We had booked this week's getaway months in advance, and was looking forward to the accommodation based on several good reviews on this website. The hotel was clean and tidy, 2 minutes from the beach and a short walk to Benelmadena and local pubs and restaurants. The... more

El Tiburon is a great little hotel; comfortable, clean and very friendly. The buffet breakfast, taken in a delightful dining room, is more than satisfactory with a choice of Spanish fare i.e. cheese and cold meats or full English (bacon, sausage egg etc) if you’re... more

The rooms were quite basic (but adequate), had a safety deposit box in the room, maid service every day which is pretty cool, the staff were friendly and the bar is pretty much 24 hours in the hotel. I do not rate the breakfast, neither the quality or selection of food, the... more

Loved our holiday but a short resume of the downnside of el tiburon
I stayed in this hotel, with my son for a week. We were complete slugs!! We just read in the sun, went for a short walk to find a meal or were asleep!! The hotel, as previously stated was very basic. The bedrooms could definitely do with an update. The paintwork, curtains, bathroom and furniture were all a bit tired. The bathroom floor was exceptionally slippery when wet and NO bathmat is provided. TAKE CARE! All the food was very good - especially the £7.00 steak in the snackbar! Despite these couple of moans, we had a good time.
great price, grand hotel
just got back from a four day stay at El Tiburon. Picked it mainly from the reviews on the forum but was slightly dissapointed with the hotel, then again you cant really have many complaints for four nights plus breakfast for under €140 for two people! The rooms were slightly dated and rather small for my liking. Each had a tv with 3 english channels on it so not too bad if you end up spending time in it! pool was quite small and gets the sun from about 11-5 at this time of the year but its spotlessly clean. Major renevations going on in the apartment block next door so get used to being woken up at 8am if your heading there in the next couple of days or so! Rooms cleaned every day so no complaints there, like wise with breakfast, choice of cereal or bacon eggs etc and it all tasted quite good. The hotel itself is only about 2mins walk to the beach but about 25 mins (all uphill) to the centre of torremolinos so dont choose this if you want to be in the centre of things... Overall it was a grand hotel and id have no major complaints (except for the bloody drilling next door)
Exceptionally good value
Can only endorse what everyone else has said, the hotel is very good value for money. The rooms are basic but very clean, the towels were changed everyday. Breakfast pretty good, my other half is very partial to a croissant and was disappointed not to get any but I had plenty of toast and tea which is enough for me, if you wanted you could get fried eggs, bacon, hot dog sausages, beans, yoghurt, rolls, ham, cheese. Breakfast is served 8.30-10am but the chef was still bringing out fresh toast etc till about 10 past 10 which I thought was good of him. We hired a car but parking was a nightmare, it was a very busy weekend but we spent a long time driving around looking for somewhere to park, on the first night we arrived at 11pm and parked in what turned out to be a taxi rank, this wasn't obvious at night but next morning the car had been scratched quite badly by I guess an unhappy taxi driver, we had the fully comp insurance and had paid the excess waiver so it wasn't a problem but beware. For the money we paid I would definately stay in this hotel again without hesitation.
Great hotel
I stayed in El Tiburon in march 06. I found the staff very friendly, the hotel exceptionally clean and the food excellent. My room was cleaned each day with new linnen on the bed. I stayed in room 401 (top floor) which is by the lift mechanism that is noisy. Its a 25 min walk into town centre & a quite a bit of it uphill. Lots of bars and seafood restraunts but little entertainment. The taxi from Malaga airport was 18 euros, this seems standard as the driver had a sheet with set fares laid out for him to work to. I would reccommend this hotel & would use it again.
Good hotel
Good clean hotel with daily cleaning service and friendly staff, breakfast good, bar a bit dead now at night due to no smoking rule but it does stay open all night. Doors closing at night very noisy as u have to slam it to shut. Overall very nice hotel and should be more than a 2 star.
The Gem
We returned from spending a week in El Tiburon on 3rd March 2006.We made our choice of hotel based on the reviews we read on this site. We were not disappointed, the hotel proved to be a real gem! The standard of cleaning with fresh towels every day was first class. The breakfasts were excellent with all tastes and appetites catered for.All the staff were frindly, helpful and most spoke excellent English. The location could not be better being 80mtrs from the sea front and a pleasant 20mins stroll to the marina in Benalmedena.Just around the corner and clos to the sea front is the bar El Mojito where the food was excellent and the owner has a good sense of humour. A restuarant of note is La Trilla one street back from the front and a 10mins stroll in the direction of Benalmedena. We have now booked a further stay at El Tiburon at the end of September and look forward to it with relish - wonderful value for money!
What A Bargain!!
We stayed for 7 nights after viewing the comments on Trip Advisor. We did not regret our choice. Stopped in a three bed room which was spotlessly clean with fresh towels every day. The room heater was very effective but not required too much. There was something for everyone at breakfast. The position could not be better, 5 mins from beach and a steady 20 mins to the beautiful Benalmadina Marina. The staff were excellent and there is a no smoking policy in the bar area which is enforced. (Even the barman went outside for a cigarette) For the price it was excellent value for money and would take some beating. Would stay again.
Lovely hotel
Stayed there in 2005 and booked to go back 2006, brochure told us a budget hotel 15 mins away from the beach but both was wrong its not a 5star hotel but service is great, rooms are clean and most of all you are made welcome and the hotel is only 5 mins away from the beach not sure why the brochure does not brag it up more. Food is ok. overall its great value for money.
no faults
El Tiburon is a good hotel that puts so called better hotels in the shade.decent position, helpfull staff, and a bar that doesnt seem to close.breakfast more than enough.no faults.
super little hotel
I have just come back from El Tiburon and have to say the staff were very helpful, giving advise on the local area, busse trains etc. The room was a good size ,had 3 single beds so you could hop around to find the best. The tv worked 2 channels of English, the radiator in the room took some working out but when you got the hang of it the room was lovely and warm, good job as it was very cold there. The bathroom was spotless, fresh towels twice in 4 days. The buffet breakfast was great, help yourself, continental, and full english. The area was great for the 1 euro beers and a dutch bar provided even better value for our food. All in all a super little hotel,in a fab location.
