This hotel is officially a 2 star but I wouild give it 2.5/3. A traditional style hotel with rooms looking over the pool (well ours was!). The standard of the room was very good and extremely clean. The towels were changed on a daily basis.
The Breakfast was ok, but I have had better. It more than surpassed our needs though. The restaurant could've been a little bigger imo.
Just a short walk to local restaurants, but be careful to check out the prices before you go in!
I had a situation with my son cutting his knee, and I cant thank the reception staff who ran to his attention immediately, what great service (They were both booking people in too)
Place could do with a lick of paint, but overall great.

Very basic room. No heater, we went in November. Shower did just that...it showered everywhere. The water had to run for over 5 mins for it to get warm. The beds were hard.
The receptionist was on the phone when we arrived just after mid-day. She never hung up. Just shoved a piece of paper over to us to tell us what room we were in. Reminded me of the "Carry On" film.
Food was "acceptable" but luke warm. The bar staff were extremely pleasant though.
It was a late get-away and we got what we paid for, I suppose.
Situated very close to the front and ideal for most things. Flat area for walking.
We are two adults (57) who enjoy getting around the area and nightlife.

We had booked this week's getaway months in advance, and was looking forward to the accommodation based on several good reviews on this website.
The hotel was clean and tidy, 2 minutes from the beach and a short walk to Benelmadena and local pubs and restaurants. The promenade into the marina is a pleasant walk and becomes very lively at night.
The hotel was not a noisy one; however the walls allowed noise to travel through (furniture being moved on tiled floors etc). The small menu at the bar was sufficient and the breakfast was what you would expect of a bed and breakfast hotel, nothing special however.
The pool area was a small one, with only three tables, three parasols and many sun loungers. There is a sun deck which catches plenty sun throughout the day, and the area is a good wee sun trap.
Only downside of the pool was the lack of enforcement from the management about pool rules, as several children who appeared to reside at the hotel ran amok, hogged the pool, launched beach balls all over the pool area (balls and lilo's are not permitted in the pool, and with one couple asking the management to enforce that rule, however the kids were moved to the top end of the pool, where myself and my girlfriend were lying, and were repeatedly splashed and had the ball flying all around us).
The staff were pleasant enough, not very helpful however and appeared to favour Spanish speaking residents.
Tips and advice: For local outings, the waterpark Aqualand is a pleasant day out, with several moderate rides but in the hot weather is a fab day out. Right next door is the Crocodile park, which also is an interesting day out, as there are lots of big crocs and alligators.
After a walk through Benelmadena marina, up the long, long hill, you can reach Tivoli World, which appears to be THE tourist attraction as there are several advertisements for the place, and our rep said is was just as good as Alton Towers.
How wrong were we, as it was geared up for children, and did not feel very safe (rollercoaster controller running for emergency stop button for one). At the gates to Tivoli World is the cable car to the top of the mountain, we did not go on this however it looked like a good sightseeing journey.
On the whole, a relaxing holiday, we would go back, knowing the area a bit better now, however brush up on your Spanish, you might get more out of the staff that way.

El Tiburon is a great little hotel; comfortable, clean and very friendly.
The buffet breakfast, taken in a delightful dining room, is more than satisfactory with a choice of Spanish fare i.e. cheese and cold meats or full English (bacon, sausage egg etc) if you’re that way inclined. Cereals, yoghurt, toast, bread rolls juice, coffee & tea all plentiful.
The bedrooms are basic but have everything you need. Reasonable size balcony, most overlooking swimming pool and/or with sea view. Beds are comfy, most with 3 singles and some family rooms with 4 beds. Bathroom was bright and modern. Daily cleaning service was excellent with bed linen changed during our stay and bathroom cleaned thoroughly daily, towels changed daily etc. Only one point to be made re the rooms and that is that the walls are quite thin so you could experience a bit of disturbance if the people next door are prone to being a bit noisy. However, 6 out of the 7 nights we spent there were just fine.
The swimming pool is of quite adequate size, though water very chilly in April (lovely once your in though!) and the terrace is a great suntrap. Though hotel only offers B&B basis the bar does offer a small very reasonably priced menu including steak and chips, calamari, salads or burgers. Tons of restaurants close by but hotel a good choice if your feeling too lazy to go out or want an afternoon snack etc.
Lounge/bar area is very smart and very comfortable with unobtrusive pool table, satellite TV and a cupboard full of board games i.e. draughts, chess, and trivial pursuits. A very pleasant place to sit and have a drink and a chat or for a quiet read.
Location is excellent, less than 5 minutes walk to the excellent beach, shops and restaurants. Public transport very accessible and close-by for travelling to other resorts but you will probably find you will want to stay in La Carihuela rather than spend much time in the loud, brash, English Bar invested areas of Torremolinos, Benalmedena or Fuengirola.
All in all EL Tiburon is an excellent choice if you like a small friendly and welcoming place to spend your holiday in a Costa Del Sol resort that has managed to maintain its Spanish culture and atmosphere.

The rooms were quite basic (but adequate), had a safety deposit box in the room, maid service every day which is pretty cool, the staff were friendly and the bar is pretty much 24 hours in the hotel.
I do not rate the breakfast, neither the quality or selection of food, the toast was like cardboard, the sausages were overcooked chipolatas, I stuck with the cereal after trying on the first morning, also make sure you get down early as you may find you can’t get a table and all the food is gone.
The location is ok, 5 minutes from the beach, about 20 minutes walk to Torremolinos town centre, be aware as I did not find out until I got there but Torremolinos is a predominately gay resort, It only has one straight nightclub. As a lover of nightlife and a non-gay atmosphere I was travelling into Benamaldena square (20 minute walk), it is ram packed from about 12am onwards, it has bars and clubs open well into the early hours.
All in all a good holiday at a good price

We first visited the El Tiburon a few years ago really not expecting to like the area but we were proved wrong what a gem of a hotel. It is small and basic but very friendly and clean the staff now know us very well and make us feel very much at home. The hotel is very close to the beach and restaurants in the old fishing quarter of the resort it still has kept its original charm. We do still visit other countries but feel ourselves being drawn back to this lovely part of Spain.
The drive from the airport takes about ten minutes and there are so many places to visit in the area. The restaurants on the Carahuela are excellent value for money and so much choice, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Chinese to name a few. The rooms in the hotel are simply furnished but very clean and the breakfast will set you up for the day, there is so much choice.

This hotel is a 2 star hotel which is definitely at the top of the range. It was spotlessly clean and our rooms were serviced every single day of our 2 week stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and always ready and willing to offer assistance. The food was basic but good quality without a change of menu at all over the 2 weeks but considering the price paid, we couldn't complain.
On the down side, the pool is small and part of the pool area is always in shade but as we were there out of school holidays our boys thoroughly enjoyed the pool - which was cleaned several times each week. The lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms was a definite downer as the temperature was in the mid 40s but there were ceiling fans which were in constant use.
All in all, we had a really great holiday. We were able to relax in the air conditioned lounge area most afternoons and even watch our soaps!
We would recommend this hotel as a very economical hotel with cleanliness and friendliness at its heart.
