We just visited this hotel last week (May 29th to June 5th) Hotel itself was pretty basic for what was supposed to be a 4 star. It was self-catering but there was no cooker (so we weren't able to eat in some nights to save a bit of money) and no washing up liquid or washing... more

Good Holiday
We stayed here in 16th August 2008. Very small clean but basic internally, we had a room facing the pool area fairly small but quiet nice and clean. Our room had two-signal beds, table and chairs, TV, and a cooking section; there is a 30 Euros deposit required, for safe key and door key pay this at the reception. There are Snacks available but no restaurant; the bar has only one member of staff runs snacks. If you are a budget there is a Chinese restaurant near by £9.90 Euros for a set meal (Tim Tim) staff are lovely, there is also McDonalds, K.F.C. Many good restaurants in old town, but be careful some restaurant put bread and olives little bits to eat on your table then charge you for them at the end. We made this mistake on the first night our bill came to 89.00 Euros just for four dinners four drinks. So just say no thank you when they bring things to your table. The 'strip'. Is the place to go if you are young! The is Hotel situated almost equidistant between old town and the strip, not a bad walk about 15mins for those who like to walk, or get the little train a day ticket is 4 Euros you can get off and on has many times has you like. The hotel is very close to a supermarket where you can buy everything and anything. The hotel next door plays music around their pool area with a quiz at about 10.30 we had great fun getting the people around the pool to answer them. The only down side to this hotel was you had to get down to the pool early to make sure you got a sunbed. 7.30!!!! There are some restaurants that will not rip you of Alfredo’s a friendly family run restaurant it’s on the way down to the old town. Mi Sombrero restaurant, Infante very nice fish What ever you don’t eat in the square you will get ripped of have a walk around the back street you will get more for your Euros. We always use this site before booking holidays and agree with the some of the others comments.
Very Nice
Stayed here a few weeks ago and it was lovely. The room was basic but cleaned every day and spotless. At the pool there were always sunbeds available and the bar staff were polite and always friendly. For the football fans there is a plasma with Sky Sports and comfortable big sofas. There is also a supermarket 2 minutes away which is huge. The location may seem a little dodgy at first but its ideal for both the old town and the new town. Costs 3.90 Euro to both in a taxi however the old town is a downhill walk and takes 10 minutes, the new town is 15 minutes along a main road. We really enjoyed Portugal and will be returning.
Was rather nice
This was a very nice place. we had an apartment for 6 people which was far larger than we expected. It had 2 bathrooms and was nice an clean. Two people do have to sleep on two single beds in the living area and there were no couches. this was not a problem for us. you also have 4 balconies if you score an end apartment. Do not excepect a view, you look straight onto the back of the next hotel in front. it was an excellet location, halfway between the old town and the strip, so you can have the best of both worlds. it is within walk ing distance to the beach- they just installed a new outside escalator for the lazy tourists (me included!) which means you don't have to walk down the hill to the old town/ beach. The only down side is the next door hotel plays loud music around their pool area from 9-5 every day. I have no idea how they get away with it because it is nothing short of noise pollution. There is also a lady from the kids club gets on the loud speaker, This was the only annoying thing, which was bearable. overall a good place to stay.
Loved this hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel in September. It was our first time in Albufeira and we loved it. The hotel was clean, the beds/towls changed every 2 days, the staff were friendly, the pool was clean and lovely to swim in. The only down side was you had to get down to the pool early to make sure you got a sunbed. The hotel was also very central, in the middle of the old town and the strip. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Chilled out holiday
We have just got back from this hotel and we had a lovely chilled out time. The reviews on here are spot on: Great location - in between the old town and new town. We preferred to go to the old town as it was quieter and had lovely restaurants Great food - turn left out of the hotel, past the train, and the road bends to the left after a few larger hotels. There is a restaurant here that has amazing food. Not cheap but lovely. We ate twice on 'the strip' and were disappointed. The hotel was clean, pool was freezing! Maria who works behind the bar was great! We always use this site before booking holidays and agree with the others comments.
Great location
came back from the algarve wanting to go again. The hotel was in a great quiet location 10 minutes walk (nice walk) to the beach and town where the roof top restaurants are offering great food! The beach was clean and the sea not too cold. The hotel pool was lovely, not always enough sunbeds! The pool bar was cheap offering drinks and food all day and night. The reception is open 24/7 and very helpful booking trips for you and making sure everythings ok. The rooms are big with a fridge, oven, tv and cutlery to use. The rooms are cleaned daily, the bathroom has a bath and a shower and very spacious. you can hire a safety box for £15 a week which we did. The hotel is 2 minutes away from an amzing supermarket where you can get everything, its massive and so practical! I always look at these websites and this a true review, its a great holiday hotel.
Very good hotel
Just returned from 10 nights in Varandas de Albufeira and am very happy. The hotel is situated ideally between the old and new town with a supermarket at the end of the street. Also the tourist train stop is only a couple of minutes walk away too. A very good and cheap way to get around. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Towels and beds made every day also. The pool was very good too, and there was always a sun lounger if you went down around 11am. After thay you may have to wait till one becomes available. The pool bar was very good too with good keen priced food. Drinks and snacks were very expensive though. Overall i had a very good time in this hotel and would definitely reccomend it to anyone who wants a peaceful relaxing hotel in the Algarve.
Great for chilling - Great location
If your looking for a good hotel to just chill by the pool then this is for you. No frills hotel, but with everything you need. Very helpful staff, clean, tidy. Small hotel so poolside not to busy. Ideal location as its in the middle of the strip and the old town, tho the beach is a long walk away. Supermarket just 2mins away, the train around the resort stop just round the corner. One thing to note, ask for a room not near the bar, tho not overly loud, or busy, can be annoying late at night.
Varandas ? it's 4**** rating
Just returned today from the Varandas de Albufeira. Situated between the old and new town of Albufeira. I have stayed in a few 4**** apartments. This was definitely not that, however it was very clean and staff were very friendly. Some modernisation is desperately needed, also the drive up to the main entrance is off putting with grafiti on some of the approaching walls. Not enough loungers around the pool. Due to work currently taking place in the old town not all beaches are easily accessible, it also cost 15 euros a day for two loungers & unbrella on the nearest beach. However there is a wonderful snack back/coffee shop close by called the Riviera, not to be missed. Flat shoes a must due to cobbled and slippery pavements. Still a great week had by all .
Handy location but a little disappointing
Stayed here in August 2004. A little shabby on the outside clean but basic internally, pool area fairly quiet whilst we were there which was fine with us. In our view 2+ stars rather than 4. Arrived late after terrible flight delays simply wanted to flop, registered and went to room, no control for TV, back to reception, 15 Euros deposit required, paid with a 20 note, receptionist tried to keep change we waited him out. Back to room, go to put passports in safe, no lock, back to reception, more money required. English speaking channels minimal. Snacks available but no restaurant, bar closed early most nights we were there. Plus points internet cafe with very helpful & friendly staff nearby, very good for teenage daughter, Mummy and Daddy could sit outside on balcony and drink coffee and port. Good Chinese restaurant near internet cafe (McDonalds also) many good restaurants in old town, nicer than on the 'strip'. Hotel situated almost equidistant between old town and the strip, not a bad walk for those in reasonable health and very close to a supermarket. Local people very nice.
