Waste of money in every way.

Let’s start with the outside. Most of the hotel sign wasn’t working, there is a chunk of concrete missing from around the pool (which has tiles missing), and the railings on the balconies are rusted. The kids play area is a slide and a wooden horse which is pure black with dirt. The carpets are filthy, and I mean stinking. There are wires sticking out of the electrics….
And then you get to your room. This is so small you have to turn sideways to fit between the dresser and the bed. The beds are too small for an average size person, I am 5’9” and my ankles were still hanging off the bottom. The mattresses are so thin you can barely sleep. The bunk bed was cracked and we would not let our daughter stay on it. The fan looked like it was going to come off the ceiling. And the fan does not cool down the room.
The maids never changed the bedding even when we asked. We had to soak the bedding and dump it on the floor to get it changed. Clean towels were a rarity. Sometimes the maids just stuck the old ones out on the balcony to dry. The staff would not help us with anything. And now we come to the food…..
Now when your hotel gives you FREE food and you choose to PAY to eat elsewhere what does that say about a place? I expected nice Spanish food but what we got was grease. There was salad- with grease. Or you had BROWN chicken-with grease. There was also fish-with grease. Roast beef-with grease and scrambled eggs so badly done you could have made tires from them-with grease.on the second week my daughter was surviving on bread rolls because she refused to eat the food. So we found a good local café to eat in.
To get the beech you walk 20 minutes. The entertainment for most of the time was bingo at five euros a sheet. Or on 2 separate nights there was a magic show, the same magic show both nights and somebody plugging in their iPod and leaving it. There was no kids club as advertised. No Sauna as advertised. No gym as advertised. When I came home I wish I had just taken my money and burned I would have got better value.

Hotel From Hell

Well where do i start. When we arrived at the hotel, Half of the lights on the hotel sign were not working, My first thought was Faulty towers, the man behind the desk looked liked manuel out of faulty towers. First day there we went down for breakfast, the worst thing i have ever seen. when my daughter went in to the pool she was able to pick up tiles off the pool, she then cut her toes. The Food overall was very disappointing, food reheated from lunch time given for the evening dinner, the same salad served aswell, the dessert was the same everyday, The entertainment was BINGO most nights 5 euros for a sheet Ripp off. The Magic show was the best, we were there for 2 weeks and sebastian told us it was the same magic show done each week, and not to tell every one what it was about. Sebastian put on a karoke which consisted of him using a 1980s tv, most of the time he plugged his ipod in a leaving the playlist running. Overall experience was terrible, we tried to get moved but they would charge us more money. My daughter wouldnt eat the food and the staff didnt seem to be bothered. The Staff are friendly enough despite the fact that they are rushed off their feet. WE PAID FOR ALL INCLUSIVE. WE ENDED UP FIND SOME WHERE ELSE TO EAT. The rooms were awful, The fan on the celing didnt give out much air. There was wires hanging out of the fan and it was rickety. The rooms were clean but we had to ask the maids to change the beds we were there more than 5 days and the beds were not changed, as for the towels they were olny changed when the maids felt like it, they folded the used towels up and put them back on the rack,WE HAD TO ASK RECEPTION FOR CLEAN TOWELS AND THEY GAVE US ONE CLEAN TOWEL. The main toilets had faulty light sockets i was afarid to touch them and the lights always went out very quick when you were in the toilets., We were told that there was a kids club , jaquzzi, sauna. there was nothing there. no kids club what so ever, when i asked if they were ever open, the staff hadnt a clue the last time they were open, The next thing i seen was the maintance man was taking the signs off the doors.
Overall Experience was terrible we tried to get home but we would of had to pay, the best part of the holiday was FINDING A BAR CALLED BAR CITRUS. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED, THE PRICES WERE GREAT, FOR 3 PEOPLE DRINKS INCLUDED WE PAID LESS THAN 20 EUROS WHEN WE WENT THERE. They people at bar citrus come and pick you up free of charge. They have lots for kids to do. They have a Rabbitt, parrott, greatest part of our holiday.

Worst Hotel Ive Ever Stayed In
1 / 10
Jul 2009, terri1987

Myself and my partner booked with another couple.. we arrived knowing it wasnt going to be a palace but were so disgusted that we left after our first night. We arrived to reception to be greeted by a sour faced woman.. room was ok, except the other couples wardrobe door was perched against their wall and both toilets were stained. We arrived in time for dinner.. (lucky us).. on offer was limp salad.. cold pasta, sprouts and chips.. THAT WAS IT! Tummy still rumbling as I refused to eat the rubbish on offer we went to see what entertainment was on.. we couldnt find any and asked a group of women when the entertainment started... their answer was "what entertainment" Went to use the jaccuzzi and sauna that was advertised.. rooms locked. No-one we spoke to could remember ever seeing them open.... The next morning the food was vile again, and we decided to get onto our travel agent to move us.... not before seeing a woman be served a drink at the bar that had 3 wasps in the glass... yes.. THREE. This really was the worst hotel ive ever stayed in.. it was a dive. Ive stayed in better hostels.

where do i start?

Jul 2009, donnamb

family of 3 (2 adults 1 child 2yrs)
I have just come back from hotel Estril the worst hotel i have ever been in! When i booked this holiday i was told they catered for children but when we arrived it was another case. The only thing they have for children is the swimming pool! the little pool is far too deep and they only half fill it my daughter is only two and couldnt even climb into it nor get out of it either. the big pool has a slope going down into it which is very dangerous as is has a sloping wall going all the way down and everyone trips over it or has cut there toes too! They have a childrens park which is very dangerous the floor is all lifted up and you camnt even walk on it. They advatise that they have a kids club on which isnt open as it had been flooded out last year and never been re done. The entertainment that they are supposed to have didnt exist and when it did it consisted of sebastian plugging his ipod in and leaving his playlist to run, and that was a rare thing to have entertainment. The good things about the hotel is the food that is nice but it just doesnt have much choice you get fish pasta and sauce evrynight and then a change of meat either chicken or pork with chips, and a salade bar everynight and dinner time deserts never changed either. the breakfast was the best over all. the rooms where tiny you had to side walk around all the furniture i booked a double room but it consisted of 3 single beds been pushed togther and furniture been pushed to one side. there was no aircon just a fan on the ceiling with didnt do a thing when i asked was there anything we could have they gave me a little plug in fan and said that it was only 2 star what did i expect? the staff didnt just have one job they did about 5 jobs per person they where very under staffed. i would advise people to stay away pnly suitbale for older couples.

Feb 2009, dottie dee

My first girlie week away with my friend was, a nightmare beginning to our week away, the first 24hrs was awful as we had to wait almost 1hr for a room to be found , we had to drag our heavy suitcases out of reception down steps across the street up more stairs as the lift didnt work, only to find wires hanging from the ceiling where a fan should be, a door with a lock that wouldnt lock and a broken window lock, straight back to reception to ask for a different room, none was available ,by this time the food had stopped being served and we were told to go to the cafe round the corner where we had to buy our own food until breakfast next day,we finally got our room changed this time we has a sea view right above the cafe from the night before,we are now 24hrs after arrival that we had our room sorted, the hotel in general was only OK, we met some really nice young people, that made our holiday,we all had a good laugh, mainly outside the hotel as the entertainment was not good, Delores needs a medal and a big pay rise for the hard work she had looking after everyone,it is not a hotel we would go back to but the area is lovely and pretty,if you are thinking of going here dont expect too much,if you do go tell Delores dottie says hello,

My girlfriend and i booked this...

Oct 2008, Mr C Tillman

My girlfriend and i booked this holiday early 2007 without doing much research and was shocked to read the reviews after booking it. The hotel got slated and we headed off fearing the worst. When we got to the hotel we was told it was full and we had to stay in another hotel for the night 2 minutes away. The receptionist aranged a taxi for us and said to come back in the morning. With all this happening in the 1st 5 minutes of being at the estoril we thought the reviews were going to be right. When we went back the next day however we was plesently supprised. The hotel wasnt too shabby, could do with new carpets ect but who cares about the carpets when your on holiday. The room was basic but clean and tidy and the maid changed towels when required. The food was again basic but with a few selections. I had no problems finding something to eat every meal time. If eating in is not for you then theres a plenty of bars and resturants around the marina and up towards the beach (which is golden sands and clear blue water, very nice). The swimming pool and bar areas at the hotel were fine. Sunbeds go early so be prepared to be up at 8 every morning. The staff at the hotel cant do enough to help. Evening entertainment is provided by sebastian who puts on a great magic show which is a highly recomended watch.
Over all we had a great time on this holiday and for £500 all in we think we got our moneys worth. A week all inclusive in very sunny weather was great for the price.

We (me, hubby + 2yr old son) have just spent a week here, and throughly enjoyed it. Although the hotel could do with a bit of a face lift, it was reasonably clean. The staff are fantastic, they work extremly hard to make sure everyone is happy, especially Doloros.
The rooms are clean and suitable for the purpose, you don,t spend that much time in them! The pools were great, very clean and good to see they had a life guard there every day. The meals were fine, plenty of food and not a bad selection, the soups were lovely.
There was a good mix of ages, and everyone was very friendly. It's not the place to go if you want lots of night life, but if you want to chill & relax and have a few drinks with nice people then I highly recommend this resort and this hotel.
We paid around £450 for the three of us, so I'd say we got good value for money.

the hotel was very basic but clean. Maid didi her job right and replaced towels when needed. room was adiquete but quite noisy dur to having room near water pump. Had to have a few to be able to sleep. Food was delicious especially the soups. At the beach DONT PAY FOR SUNBEDS really expensive but really nice sandy beach. The pool was cleaned every night could do with more sunbeds. Met lots of nice people. Evening entertainment was fabulous as only one person was entertaining (goes out to sebastian) who also sorts put trips and childrens club and tries his best to help everyone.Bar was open to 11 found it very good and hed enough to drink. Quite a bit to do for kids . there is a pool table and games room with a table tennis. Got respected by anyone. There is a snack bar. there is a square full of resturantes. we took a trip to caves of drac avoid excurtions as 40 euros per person. Buses are sometimes reliable. Lots of cats. if u need gifts go to calador on the bus at 2:10 euros each. nice view of the harbour. if u need a sunbed get one before 8:30
breakfast 8:00-10:00
lunch12:30-2:00

Sep 2008, Miss LHP PYE

i think everyone is being rather un reasonable considering you pay nothing i think you definately get more than your moneys worth. My self and 6 friends went to this hotel we are aged 19-25. i think it is better suited for older people who want a relaxed quiet get away. the hotel was clean and so werethe rooms the staff though few are lovely the htel is understaffed and some of them wor 20 hour shifts. the food was basic but you definately wont stave. there is a choice of some cerials, toast or fry up in the morning. lunch was usually chips wish a meat a fish and veg and same for dinner with pasta and soup and other extras of course all day you can help yur self to salad roles(bread alwas soft), ice cream, and drinks obviously. the free beer is man miguel wich everyone became fond of :) and there was vodka malibu and other shnaps etc. the evening entertainment wasnt great but we had a laugh with the kareoke and definately the dress up night ome of th girls also won the bingo wich was a fun. the beach is about 10 15 min walk but is lovely and clean the water crystal clear with pedalows to rent out. it was a shame we couldnt find any motorsprts on the island but we did go to Aqland for a day wich cost us 40 euros with transfers inc wich was well worth it. there is a spa opposite the hotel so if the food isnt quite what u want one day u can jus nip over to spa.
if you have already booked to go heer do go it will be worth it the pool isnt big but is clean and u are aloud to jump in wich is rare. the streets are a little dirty but the hotel is very clean.
i really enjoyed it and considering i payed about 375 for an week alinclusive i was really happy the main staff are Isabel, Dorlos, Bent, Antonio (not great English but a giggle) and Sebastian (he tries really hard to entertain everyone.

hotel rooms were clean and tidy with towels changed when required. the staff would bend over backwards to help, the food was basic but when you ask for somthing spainsh the chief would cook it for you, the pool was cleaned once a week, the beach was close and cleaned every day the only thing i can say is that there could have been more entertainment. all in all a little more money spent on the hotel would go a long way

first of all: you get what you pay...

Aug 2008, Mrs D Oliver

first of all: you get what you pay for! so the fact that the carpets were worn, who cares? the rooms were comfortable and cleaned EVERY day. the manageress, Delores, was one of the mosyt helpful and delightful people you could wish to meet, as was Benz, the night shift employee ("shhhhhhhhhhh....")the food, although not 5star(again you get what you pay for) was more than acceptable with a variety of dishes available at every meal.the "entertainment" was not fantastic, but then again it depends on how willing you are to join in!the actual resort, iePorto Colum, is very suited to those looking for a quiet holiday (so if your an "18-30 club" member, then forget it!)the fact that the hotel Estoril is a relatively small hotel (70 rooms) means you get to know almost eveyone there, which is up to you whether this is a good or bad thing! but hey, theres plenty to do and see in Porto Colum if you want to escapeeven though it is all inclusive i would not recommend this hotel for the "young free and single", nor for a family with young kids, but if you are a 30+ couple, looking for a relaxing break, then you would have to look very hard for a holiday that gives you more value for money than the hotel Estoril
the only reason we will not be going back, is the fact that the world is a big place and in our 25yrs of holidaying, we have never been to the same place twice (apart from blackpool!)
