Couldn't fault it
Before travelling we went with an open mind as soom reviews we had read were good and some bad. In our party were 5 adults, 1 child and 2 babies and we couldn't fault the hotel. The staff were more than friendly, the hotel was clean and they catered brilliantly for babies. We found it excellent value for money as you could eat and drink as much as you wanted. The food was very good and healthy too. If you like a room in a quiet location, it is a ggod idea to request it as the entertainment is very loud and right outside some rooms. We were in the new part which was very quiet. There is a regular and very reliable bus service where there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. The hotel reception have bus timetables. My only complaint is that the holiday went far to quickly!
When can we go back???
This was a great holiday! everyone was really friendly and helpful. we made lots of friends and there were lots of buff boys! the entertainment was faboulous!!! and so was the food. dont believe what other people tell you. this was a fantastic holiday! hope to come here again
Will take the Grandkids next time!!
After reading some of the reviews before travelling, we were worried. However, we needn't have been, at all! Excellent facilities, good food, cheap upgrade to "All-inclusive" was an obvious option to take. My wife and I had a great time, pity it was only for a week... even though at the peak holiday time, getting drinks was never a problem, all the staff were freindly and helpful... Thank you, especially Anita, couldn't do enough to help us. We found the choice of food to be outstanding, and great to get "English" sausages at breakfast. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, great garden areas, three decent-sized pools, excellent food, good variety of entertainment. We had no children with us, but are looking to take the grandchildren with us on our next visit!!
cant wait to go back
Had the best holiday ever and our first task when we got back was to book again, this despite having both our rooms burgled!! Dont let this put you off - we had first floor rooms and entry was gained via balcony doors - our advice is SHUT THEM! when you are not in your room. Apart from this we have never had so much fun on holiday. The rooms were sparkling clean, the food was fab with loads to choose from (and there is plenty of kids food if you go outside of meal times) and the staff from cleaners to bar/restaurant staff where polite, friendly and happy to help. (Louis behind bar had muscles to die for!) The hotel entertainers are superb and we would like to say special thanks to Jason, Carmen and Raf for making the holiday such a laugh. Hope to see you all again in October! The highest praise must come from our 3 boys aged `15, 13 and 10 who managed to cover every activity from rifle shooting to mini golf (too much inbetween to mention) and never said the word "bored" The fact that there were tears when we left says it all. I have read some poor comments on this hotel but I think personality has a lot to do with it - there is always something that can be found fault with - thats all part and parcel of holidays. If we cant wait to go back after suffering 2 separate thefts it must have been good. Keep an open mind and make an effort to join in - once we did (after taking a few days to get settled) we had a ball.
A little Spanish goes a long way
This hotel was advertised locally as being in Estepona as well as featuring online as Marbella, but it's somewhere inbetween - a delightful town with an active night life called San Pedro de Alcantara. The facilities are great. Room security seems lax, but no reported thefts or break-ins. Wife pregnant, so we were relieved to have a superb hotel medical centre literally below our balcony. Our (German) resort rep was none too keen on telling us about the cheaper local tours flogged out of an office behind the hotel. The food, even by Austrian culinary standards, was quality and wide-ranging. Both of us know Spanish. So the staff - working long hours and maybe tongue-lashed by visitors - were more accommodating when addressed in their own lingo.
Wonderful Holiday
Before I went, like many others i had read the reviews on this hotel so went with an open mind, but after my visit felt is was time to give my thoughts on this. The hotel is very picturesque, with beautifully kept gardens. The food is OK, but can become same thing two or three times a week, but ideal English food for Kids or you just like chips! Being self service you can have as much or as little as you like. The rooms are Excellant and spacious, its not often you get a large bath, although the hot tap in the sink was very slow, but I would recommend that you pay the extra for the superior rooms with air conditioning, we got friendly with some people and used there room for a shower before departure and they look excellant. if you walk into Puerto Banus (15-20 mins, 5 Euros in a taxi and there are plenty about)) the beaches are very nice and the boats and cars around the harbour are out of this world You might also catch a glimpse of the rich and famous in the harbour we did. Make sure your wife leaves the credits at home other whys they will spend a fortune is the designer shops!! In general the staff are polite and helpful, and the hotel is managed by a very nice English lady, Anita, who was a diamond. There are three pools, and although the main pool gets quite crowded for sunbathing, and there is a mad scramble for sunbeds in the morning - but you seem to get there wherever you go these days. The Animation team work non stop, and there is something going on almost all the time The evening entertainment is OK, Shows by the Animation team, professional dance shows, all finish with a disco and a chance to dance to Aga doo!!!!.Excellant English Carbaret singer called Wayne Micheals was there on the Wednesday night. Each evenings start off with a game of bingo, which is hillarious, Raphael's bingo calling is something else, He would go down a storm at the local Mega!! and watching Jason's rhythm on the Dancefloor is also something else!! The bar staff were excellant and good humoured and the Service was quick and the way they form a queue for service is an excellant way of making sure everyone is served. The Beer is San Miguel, but you would need to drink it non stop for a week before being half cut, but they make up for that in the spirit measure - they were huge If you have kids then this is an excellant choice as there is so much to do and even if you don't have kids are aren't bothered about them being around 24/7 then i would definatley recommend this hotel
Two great holidays
Been to the Cortijo Blanco twice and will be going again. The hotel is very picturesque, with beautifully kept gardens. The food is excellent, and being self service you can have as much or as little as you like. The rooms are big enough, but I would recommend that you pay the extra for the superior rooms with air conditioning, as it stays very warm at night. The local beach was being worked on in 2002, which it really needed, as it was quite poor, but if you walk into Puerto Banus (15-20 mins) the beaches are very nice. You might also catch a glimpse of the rich and famous in the harbour there. In general the staff are polite and helpful, and the hotel is managed by a very nice English lady, which is a bonus. There are three pools, and although the main pool gets quite crowded for sunbathing, there are plenty of sun beds in other areas of the hotel. The Animation team work non stop, and there is something going on almost all the time (archery, table tennis, volley ball, water polo, darts, french bowls, etc, etc). The evening entertainment is fun and varied. Shows by the Animation team, professional dance shows, game shows with audience participitation, etc, all finish with a disco. Most evenings start off with a game of bingo, which is hillarious. Raphael's bingo calling is something to savour. We went with Eclipse, who have some arrangement with First Choice that means the FC reps look after you.Their kids clubs are very good. Our son was in the Wavelength club and we hardly saw him at all. He was always off doing something with the club, even in the evenings. A lovely hotel, two great holidays, and hopefully more in the future.
It's not too late to cancel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you like friendly staff wonderful food and great holiday for all to enjoy then don't book at the Hotel Cortijo Blanco. The only good thing I have to say for this place is it's clean and the maid's do visit every day but really people that's about it. If you have kids then they might enjoy it but you certainly won't. The food could only be described as poorly thought out school dinners. With the picture's of the animals displayed above the dry burnt food can really help you identify this food as nothing else will. What's really interesting as you might get three or four animals displayed for just one dish. Now for the staff. Rude and extremely unhelpful. To be honest with you if it wasn't for the port about a five minute cab journey away I think I would have had a terrible holiday. Also if you fancy a lay in and want to get up and lay by the pool then good luck because you have to be by the pool by 8am to even have a hope of a sun bed or a place in the sun.
made the most of it
Read this reveiw page before we went,so went with an open mind, but found the hotel to be great, very clean, maids came every day.We had a room by the tennis courts which was air conditioned but believe some are not, we went in June and really neede the air conditioning. The staff were not particulary friendly but think this is the same wherever you go in Spain. The beach was rubbish, so spent a lot of time round one of the three smashing pools. Didn't find too much of a problem with getting served at the bar but would imagine at the height of summer it would be a problem. The food was great but some people with children did complain that there was not unlimited snacks and ice cream for the children which is stated in the broucher, you could get ice cream and snacks from the snack bar which is open when the main resteraunt is closed but you are not allowed to take food out, do not know if this was ever resolved. The night time entertainment was quite poor so we spent most nights at the adults only Bodega bar, where we met some lovely people, "hi Steve & Julie from Bristol & The Cockney Wide Boys, Dave,Ron & Mick" Feel the entertainment should be much better as there is only a couple of bars outside the hotel which were a bit expensive. DO NOT book a trip to Gibralter with your tour operator, we paid 72 euros for two adults, then found out you can get there very easily on the bus. Just walk 10 mins to the bus station get a ticket to Alina for 1 euro 38 cents each, which takes you right near to the border and walk through, the buses are more comfortable than the coaches, it takes about an hour and it only stops once. All in all, we had a good hoilday but even though we were all inclusive we were a bit dissapointed by the location as you are very much tied to the hotel.
Can't wait to go back
We have only been home 6 days and we cant wait to get back there. The room was great, food always something for everyone, staff willing to help and pleasant, the only thing missing was a dance floor. Thank you for a brilliant time, the bottle of bubbly on our anniversary was well appreciated.
