these appartments are ok if u like walking there is nothing going on at nights shop only open from 9 till 1 beach not very clean when we went there was a smellof the drains this was also in the room bar was dirty food ok would not like my dog to stay here will not be going back

I have just returned from these apartments and would not go again. Air conditioning costs £110 euros for 2 weeks and you also have to pay £110 deposit for breakages. We didn't notice until halfway through our holidays that one of the white plastic chairs on the balcony... more

A decent apartment block from AndyD83
The Albatros is a reasonable little hotel however the swimming pool is nowhere near as big as it looks on the photos. It is absolutely tiny. I'd say no longer than 10m long, and 4m wide. It's fine for kids, but there were a couple of lads with inflatables in there so it was filled up straight away. There certainly wasn't room for my mate that I travelled with and I to swim lengths in there. However, the beach just down the hill from the back of the Albatros is great. Big Al's bistro is hideous, but I'd probably get labelled as posh for saying that. If you love egg and chips, go for it. The room was decent - the lounge/bedroom had been recently refurbished, and the bathroom and kitchen area were clean enough. The Hotel Playa Park opposite is extremely loud though, with regular karaoke/bingo/Abba nights blasting loud into the night. Salou itself is alright - it took us until 4 days into the holiday to find the nice sea-front restaurants and shops etc and the nightlife in the main "strip" is a bit odd. We were regularly out drinking until 1am, and most of the clubs/bars were dead, which seemed strange for July in a resort like Salou. PS Watch out for the €120 deposit!!!
Albatross Aparments from Sarahgbabes
The Albatross Apartments are basic but in a great location and has everything you need. The Albatross is close enough to the town centre to be involved in the nght life but far enough away not to hear the noise! You can walk the 5-10 mins into town or the bus stop is just by the apartments so either way the 'strip' is easily accessable. The taxi's are as you would expect, not really cheap but not really expensive. There are 4 beaches close by to choose from 2 of them small coves, a bigger one to the right of the hotel and round the corner and then the main beach in Salou in the town centre. There is a fully equipped kitchenette in the apartment. Ours was a studio and the kitchenette was very small but had a kettle for a cuppa in the morning and a fridge to keep our drinks cold. The bathroom was very tatty, but it had everything we needed, a bath and a shower, loo and if you need to wash your feet...a bide! The Balcony was large and if you get a room overlooking the restaurant, supermarket and Bistro it is reasonably quiet but also the sun sets this way and it is great to catch a few extra rays whilst chilling out before you get ready to go out on the night. Downstairs there is 'Big Al's Bistro'. The food is very english, but reasonable and is nice, not dripping in grease as I expected it would be and the bonus is that there is entertainment of a reasonable level each night at between 10 and 11 pm. There is also a supermarket that sells everything you might need and english newspapers and magazines. For most stuff it is cheaper than the supermarkets in the town centre. We didn't try the restaurant in the basement of the hotel, however most nights it was full of people. Port Aventura is a must, buy your tickets online before you go, you will get a much better deal. The water park there was fantastic fun too. The trips to Barcelona zoo can't be missed.
