This was our third visit to the Plaza Cavana and I am afraid it will be our last. The hotel is clean and tidy and good value, but all the rooms suffer from 'road noise' starting around 0500. All the corridors and bedrooms have hard services that also contribute to the... more

Well, what can we say? Fantastico! The hotel, superb, location fab, spotlessly clean, very accommodating. Staff lovely and very friendly. It was wonderful with the square 'Noise' which you have to expect in Spain overlooking all the charm of a typical Spanish location.... more

Good position for a town hotel, close by Balcon de Europa. Staff friendly and hotel spotless. Room fine for price we paid in January. Restaurant, only dined first night, poor quality. Breakfast in basement dining room, very basic continental. Facilities. Tiny indoor plunge... more

We had a very clean and comfortable room. The standards in the hotel were high and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was especially good - they had acquired a new chef in the couple of months before we stayed there and the food was excellent, really top class... more

The Plaza Cavana is an excellent little hotel, in a fabulous location right in the heart of Nerja. The staff were lovely, very friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is deceptive from the outside. You would easily pass it by but inside the rooms are spotlessly clean and... more

loved the quaint streets
Went to plaza cavana hotel for a week. We have never been to mainland spain before but we always wanted to visit Nerja, so decided to go for a weeks break. We were not disappointed either as the hotel was very nice. the staff were friendly. Our room was very nice and clean and very quiet too. Food was really nice as we stayed half board we ate in their restaurant and i can safely say the service was 2nd to none and the staff were so attentive. The food was very nice too as was the wine and oh those BIG GLASSES that you get your G& T's in are awesome. Hubby loved them. We did lots of walking everyday. We did go to Granada for the day and we did go and see Nerja Caves and we went to the village (forgot name) up on the mountain which was lovely too. All in all we both enjoyed our weeks stay and would go back to the same hotel again for a week. If you go make sure you go on the train that takes you around Nerja, it is great fun and it stops outside the hotel. It is great place for sitting outside with a drink and watching the world go by. Enjoy your holiday we did.
'No disappointments at all' Phil and Yoni, Warrington.England.
We found this little bit of perfection on the internet. We were looking for somewhere different, more quality, away from the normal hotel styles of Spain. For me it was a return to Spain after 20 yrs and a first for my wife, who is from Turkey. The moment we saw the photo's and read the reviews we knew this was the place for us. I contacted the hotel by email and all went swimmingly with Erica and Jenny, two of the front managment staff being extemely helpful, including the arrangement of a bouquet of roses in our room on arrival. (Thank-you Jenny.) From the time we arrived this was a home from home. The hotel is immaculately clean and has a lovely warm feel throughout. The rooms are very comfortable and ours(a superior) was very tastefully furnished. Our balcony overlooked the square and yes at times the noise got a little louder but was never a problem. The Plaza is very close to the Balcon De Europa and all shops restaurants Etc. but no worries about disturbance, after midnight'ish Nerja centre becomes a quieter place. The rooftop pool is a welcome retreat and as the hotel does not really cater for kids is very peaceful with lovely views of the mountains or you can have a nose at the street below. Breakfast is an unhurried affair and again the choice is good. A 'BIG' plus here, the maids never hassle you of a morning, so if you want to sleep you can. All we can say a big big thank-you To Paco, Nancy, Erica, Jenny, Jose' (the night man.) and all at the Plaza. We loved it and will be coming back. Phil and Yoni.
Great Hotel!!!
Just back from a 2 week stay at the Plaza Cavana and loved it!!!The hotel is right in the centre of the resort and a stones throw from the Balcon de Europa and two beaches. The hotel looks fairly traditional from the outside but it has a lovely internal courtyard and loads of character. The hotel itself was spotless clean with a daily maid service providing clean towels etc. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. The roof top pool has great views of the sea and the mountains, the pool itself is small but it is more for just dipping in and out of when it gets too hot rather than for swimming in. Can't wait to go back!!
A little gem!
We stayed at the Hotel Plaza Cavana, booked through Portland Direct (part of Thomsons). The small hotel has 39 rooms and is perfectly located if you want to be in the centre of things and surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a busy town. It's located just a stone's throw from the Balcon. It looked as though the hotel had recently been refurbished - everything looked clean and new. Without exception the staff were very friendly and most of them spoke some English. Breakfast is from 8.30am until 10.30am. There's plenty to choose from - fruit, cheese, meat, a selection of bread (they have a toaster), cereal and you can pay extra if you want to order hot food. They have a computer with Internet access in the lobby area - 1 euro for 10 minutes. There's a vending machine next to it with a selection of reasonable priced snacks and drinks to purchase. There are two small pools - a lovely one one on the roof (great views over Nerja and the mountains) and another one indoors, where there is also a small gym that looked brand new. They have a sauna and jacuzzi but you have to pay 15 euro (for one) / 20 euro (for both) per couple to use these. There were only a few small downsides: - We had a room overlooking the square and it got very noisy at times, caused mainly by the scooters driving past/parking across the road. You'll need to close your balcony window to get any peace and quiet. If you want a quieter room, request one overlooking the little courtyard in the middle of the hotel - The air conditioning is only switched on during the "summer season" and we found that it got quite stuffy in the room on some nights - You have to pay for a safe deposit box in your room - 1.80 euro per day Despite these, I wouldn't hesitate in staying at the Hotel Plaza Cavana again.
Nice Friendly Hotel
I stayed in the hotel for a 2 weeks holidays and we got impressed about the services, facilities and staff in the hotel
Lovely little Hotel
We booked this Hotel for a February week away from the English weather. The hotel was, as other guests have stated, very clean and ideally situated just around the corner from the Balcon de Europa. The breakfasts were simple but adequate. If you want a 5 star start to the day then book into a 5 star hotel. We thought the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately the roof top pool was undergoing a complete revamp and so the whole of the roof terrace was out of bounds. This is a pitfall of travelling in the low season and to be expected. I would imagine if you stayed here during the high season the rooms could be quite noisy. However at this time of year we were never kept awake. All in all for us the hotel was perfect.
Fantastic
Stayed here for the second time (previously stayed in Dec 06) but this time with the family, we could not fault anything there, the food, rooms and staff were excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel, looking forward to returning again at some stage.
Loved our Xmas holiday in Hotel Plaza Cavana.
We have just returned from our Xmas holiday in this fabulous hotel, we spent 1wks holiday with my daughter and her husband and we were all very impressed by the cleanliness and service of staff in the hotel (1st class) infact we would certainly book this hotel again. However we all decided the next time we return we would only book bed-breakfast as there are so many fab restaurants to choose from. The bar prices in the hotel we found very reasonable and comfortable, as you usually find hotel prices are a lot more expensive. E. CARTMAN NEWCASTLE
Cavana pre-Christmas
This was our third stay at the Plaza Cavana since our first visit to Nerja in 2000. It is clean, comfortable, warm and well priced at this time of year. Perfectly located for all the old town has to offer. We have always had quieter rooms overlooking the side street. Beds are a bit on the hard side. Buffet breakfast is more than adequate, there's a pleasant dining room and an attractive lounge/bar. Rooftop terrace and pool, and a small indoor pool too. Building work is going on out of sight at the back of the hotel, causing some noise, but no real problems. Generally, this hotel has much to commend it and we would stay again. The second week in December was quiet in Nerja, but the weather was excellent - blue skies and 20 degrees during the day, warm enough for lunch outside. Cool in the evenings, but many bars have outdoor heaters. Although several places were closed for holidays, there was plenty of choice of places to eat and drink. There were decorative lights in the streets and on the Balcon and some attractive window displays, but on the whole Christmas seemed low key and relaxed. Anyone wanting a cheaper accommodation option might consider the nearby Hostal Mena - we stayed there for a week in February a couple of years ago. It is delightful, although lack of central heating might put some people off in the Winter months.
Lovely hotel great location
I have just returned from a 4 day trip and would recommend this hotel. The staff are extremely helpful and the rooms are spotless. The hotel is in a great location however. on the downside it can be very noisy. If you were going to stay in this hotel I would advise earplugs.
