Hotel Description:
The relaxed, unhurried town of Nerja sits at the base of the Sierra Tejera on soaring cliffs high above the sea some 50 kms to the east of Malaga. This is a pretty, undeveloped corner of real Spain that’s quite unlike the high rise resorts elsewhere on the Costa del Sol. This is a comfortable hotel in a superb location near to the main attractions of the well-kept Plaza Cavana and the village of Nerja, 10 minutes from the beach. loading...

" Never been to Mainland Spain before... "
Submitted By: Mrs P Downey
Never been to Mainland Spain before and was not disappointed. Nerja is a lovely place and people so very friendly.
The hotel was very nice and well presented. The staff were so good at their jobs and very friendly. Our room was nice and clean and the maid did a great job cleaning it for us.
The food was so nice (yummy) and we were so glad we stayed half board. We were very central and just outside our hotel was where you can get the train that takes you around Nerja. We walked for hours and just loved everything about the resort. We walked to the beach and watched the paella being made.
We visited Nerja Caves which were fantastic and well worth a visit. Went to Granada for the day and up to village in the mountains above Nerja. Would recommend hotel, you will be looked after so well.

" Well, what can we say? Fantastico!... "

Well, what can we say? Fantastico! The hotel, superb, location fab, spotlessly clean, very accommodating. Staff lovely and very friendly.
It was wonderful with the square 'Noise' which you have to expect in Spain overlooking all the charm of a typical Spanish location. Several times, we had the gypsies singing outside at night walking home from The El Molino Flamenco bar, guitars too! What could be more authentic and enjoyable than hearing the sounds of happiness.
Even the birds sing at midnight outside the hotel. Weather was great mid Nov for 2 weeks. Can't complain about anything in Nerja.
Tapas, restaurants, paella on the beach in Buriani Beach. There is also an unbelievably Good Asian restaurant in the square opposite the Balcon de Europa. Very modern, excellent cuisine and we found ourselves dining there often. Prices are very reasonable and there is a choice of Thai, Japanese and Chinese. Superb quality!
The Tuesday market is a great experience too in Nerja. Shops are great too.
You all must go to Nerja! Can't wait to return next year.

" As we hadn’t paid much for this... "

As we hadn’t paid much for this hotel we didn’t expect much when we got there but had a pleasant surprise. Rooms are lovely and bathroom was quite spacious with a hairdryer provided. It’s a very clean hotel. Rooms were cleaned everyday
The staff were friendly enough, the indoor swimming pool was quite small and there is only really enough room for 4 people in it(and that felt crowded) the out door swimming pool yet again small (and freezing)but views were amazing. Breakfast was ok. The bar was never staffed so never actually felt like it was open.
The position of hotel was lovely right by balcony of Europe, Nerja itself lovely. We visited lots of tapas bars which are brill. We also visited the caves which were breathtaking but thought that may have been a bit over priced. Bus to caves really cheap 2euros for 3 of us. Taxis back 7 euros which we thought wasn’t to bad.
There is a lift but still have to go up certain amount of stairs which when you’ve got a pram and young baby can get a bit tiring so wouldn’t recommend people staying with young children to go to this hotel. If you haven’t got transfers to hotel sorted give hotel a call as can get taxis pre booked and waiting for you at airport for 65euros where it would normally cost 95euros.

" Good position for a town hotel, close... "
Submitted By: Mr T Butcher
Good position for a town hotel, close by Balcon de Europa. Staff friendly and hotel spotless. Room fine for price we paid in January.
Restaurant, only dined first night, poor quality. Breakfast in basement dining room, very basic continental.
Facilities. Tiny indoor plunge pool and similar rooftop open pool. Bar was not staffed and had to go to reception in order to obtain drinks. Most nights, very noisy during early hours due to refuse and bottle collectors. Hotel does not have double-glazing.
Our first time on Spanish mainland and Nerja proved to be much bigger than we expected. Plenty of good quality shops but the many restaurants were of mediocre standard.
The whole of the coast East and West from Nerja seems to be a giant building site.
Conclusion. Got what we paid for but if had paid full rate would have been very disappointed. In winter 4 days enough in Nerja.

" A very clean well furnished Hotel in... "

A very clean well furnished Hotel in a very good location with easy access to shops bars and beaches. Evening meals were to a very high standard, if at a leisurely pace.
Rooms are above standard for 3*. Roof terrace is a delight as is indoor heated pool.
The Bar was small and friendly and leant itself to making friends
Monica stood out as a hard working and charming lady. She worked in the Restaurant and Bar and was probably expected to do more than was reasonable.
My wife and I would certainly return to this Hotel. The only improvement that we could suggest would be to open the bar and have tea and coffee facilities during the day.
If you do stay here do not miss an opportunity to visit Burriana Beach and sample the Paella and daily specials at Ayo's Beach Bar. Paella 5 Euros. A five Euro Taxi ride each way or a twenty minute walk down 116 steps and across the Beach.

" Our stay at the Hotel Plaza Cavana... "
Submitted By: Mr J E Feest
Our stay at the Hotel Plaza Cavana was our fifth in six years.
The Hotel has improved every time we stay! As ever all the staff are kind and courteous.

The newish Restaurant on the main ground floor is much better than the earlier arrangement in the first basement, although the meals down there were very good, but the new regime has produced a really excellent menu, both set and a la carte. the Wine list is quite extensive - the vinos de la casa were more than passable!! Our Bedroom, looking over the square was, as expected, noisy weekend evenings.

All in all we had an excellent week - the weather was fine throughout, the various cafe bars nearby and further away all serve good food in various styles. We intend to go back again - but not until 2007.
We had a very clean and comfortable room. The standards in the hotel were high and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was especially good - they had acquired a new chef in the couple of months before we stayed there and the food was excellent, really top class restaurant food.
The hotel is in the centre of Nerja, so everything is within a very short walk - beaches, shops, cafes and bars.
The Plaza Cavana is an excellent little hotel, in a fabulous location right in the heart of Nerja. The staff were lovely, very friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is deceptive from the outside. You would easily pass it by but inside the rooms are spotlessly clean and modern and are also extremely well serviced. The hotel itself has great facilities for such a small hotel. Really enjoyed our stay here and leave with happy memories of Nerja.

The areas around the hotel are all starting to look very tired and rather dirty. The beaches etc could all do with a good clean up. There is a lot of building work behind the hotel and they are laying paving slabs in the narrow side streets in the main areas.
