Submitted By: jericho1161Opposite the hotel is the Benidorm Palace nightclub/entertainment venue, during our stay there was no noise evident from the venue. If you are unfortunate enough to been placed in a room next to the main road then make sure you take ear plugs, the noise is quite loud from passing traffic, this starts around 07:00hrs everyday. The hotel is well maintained and the staff are friendly enough, especially the restaurant staff who make you feel very welcome.
The biggest downfall of the hotel is the awful entertainment that they put on every evening, the male and female double act are really terrible and sound like someone dragging their nails down a chalk board! This was the reason we spent the majority of our evenings at other bars, even though we were all inclusive!!!
Another problem we found was with the hotel policy with regards to air conditioning. Despite the temp being in the mid 70's, the hotel refused to allow the air conditioning system to come on until the 1st May as that is when the hotel's season starts, this led to many sleepless night as the room was very hot.
The rooms themselves were more than adequate and cleaned to a very high standard each day. The satelite TV consisted of 4 English channels, Sky News, CNN News, BBC World News and Eurosport, not mush choice there!
The food was of a good standard and there was a reasonable selection, although repeated a little it was still nice.
The pool area was spacious with numerous beds and parasols, the pool itself could do with being heated as it was absolutely freezing, so cold in fact that it hurt! A disappointing rule which the hotel upholds is stopping sunbathers from going into the main bar to get a quick drink if they're not covered up and wearing shoes, so everyone's expected to put a t-shirt on that will get covered in sun tan lotion....petty!
All in all the hotel seems to be going in the right direction and would be an ideal place for couples if the above points were looked at. Would I recommend it to another couple...No. Would I recommend it to pensioners and families...Yes.
Advice: Plenty of shows and acts to see on an evening
Activities: Rachels bar
" Great holiday "
Submitted By: pea-tear-griffinThe food was great for adults, it was the same pretty much everyday for breakfast, they had a few different things each morning but not a lot. I normally just had the same everyday, bacon, egg, sausages, toast and tomato, which was fine. You help yourself to drinks at breakfast, tea, coffee or orange, apple juice etc.
Lunch and dinner was fantastic, it was different everyday, 1 day would be mexican theme, next day spanish theme etc and plenty to choose from. The kids menu was not too great, it was basically pretty much the same everyday for them, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, beef burgers and what looked like pastys, not a great deal of choice.
If you ordered wine with your food, they would bring a full bottle over for you, if any was left they would keep it in the fridge for you till you next went in to eat. The same with water too, they would bring over a big bottle for you. Just watch out for the old woman who works in the restaurant, she likes to try and take your plate away when you still have food on it!
You are given a card when you arrive at the hotel, they take your pic and put the pic onto your card if you are staying all inclusive. When you go to the bar it does say 1 drink per card but you can go to the bar with as many cards as you like. All the 'local' alcohol is included with the all inclusive, if you want Smirnoff vodka if costs 2 euros. The drinks are very strong as they never measure how much alcohol they put in! The crisps and ice lollys are not included, i think it was 1 euro each for these.
The staff are great with kids as well, especially the bar staff, they go out of their way to say hello to the kids.
The location is not too bad either, Benidorm palace is over the road from the hotel but we didn't hear any noise from it once. about a 2 min walk from the hotel is a supermarket, just incase you do need anything for during the day whilst you are out. Right near the supermarket is a number of shops selling all different things, clothes, cigs, alcohol etc. I would say the beach is about a 15-20 min walk but that was with a buggy.
Behind the hotel is 1 of the 'animal parks' - just 1 road straight up, pretty steep which takes about 15 mins, or if you are not quite so young, there is a bus stop over the road from the hotel which takes you there.
Overall it was a great holiday, great hotel, great weather and we are going back next year.

Submitted By: Mr D J BarrettI am going on what one review said, regarding the Benidorm palace being opposite the hotel. Yes this is true, but the person giving the review, must have had their patio doors open, because I was staying in a room directly opposite the benidorm palace, and can honestly say the noise was not an issue. I am a very light sleeper, and the slightest bit of noise will wake me up, but I had no problems in sleeping. There was even maintenance being carried out very early in the morning, again I heard nothing and they were using drills etc.
The hotel itself is situated away from the hustle and bussle of Benidorm, and immediately I knew I had made the right choice, because I didnt want to stay in an area that was over run by drunks etc. I am not very fussy but just like to have a bit of sleep while on holiday. I found the staff hear very helpfull and they always answered my questions and concerns without any hesitation. From the maids, to the bar staff, to the receptionist, each of them were wonderfull. The hotel is modern, the rooms are spacious and even have a fridge which was great. Despite being all inclusive, it was nice to have the option to keep few cold ones in the fridge.
The food choice was amazing, and you would have to be very very fussy if there was nothing you would like. I am a fussy eater, but when I go abroad I tend to try anything, and I was not left dissapointed with the food that I did try. Always plentyfull and loads of choice from fish, to mexican, italian, british even, there was just so much.
If there is a downside to the hotel, then I would say that it is a bit of a walk into the town etc, but again that wasnt a downside for me, because I am fond of a good walk when on holiday.
Everything in my opinion was smashing about the hotel, and I even enquired about going back again this year (2008), but instead I have opted to return to Benidorm, but wanted to try something different so opted for the flamingo oasis instead, but if that hotel had not been available then the meditteraneo would have been first choice. The only reason I am going to the flamingo oasis is because I wanted to try something else, and also a nagging aunty saying I should try it as it is wonderfull.
Do not be put off by the negative reviews on hear. Different people have different tastes, and if your used to going to hotels in dubai that cost £6,000 a night then maybe this hotel is not for you. But if your just an average holiday maker, then I would 100% recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay.

Submitted By: Mrs S BoyleWe had a great stay. The food was good, always a good choice and we always found something we liked. We did find end of second week it became a bit repetetive but this would be the same for any hotel.
We did find the first week that there were a lot of children running round unsupervised, banging doors, running in corridors ( my son was ill one day and trying to sleep ). However feel this is more down to the parents than the hotel as my children certainly didn't do this. The 2nd week was much quieter.
Our room was a good size even for 4, cleaned and towels changed each day. Our fridge didnt work , complained a few times but nothing done.
We didn't find any problems with the queues for all inclusive drinks, the beer, wine, baileys, malibu ok, whiskey, brandy not so good but could upgrade these for 2 euro.
We went to aqualandia, had a great day out, very few queues, good value for money.
We thought the location good, in a quieter area but not too far to beach and bars.
Daytime entertainment ok darts, table tennis competitions, evening not so good but we don,t tend to spend all evening in hotel, could be more of a problem for people with younger children who want to stay in the hotel in the evening.
Overall had a great holiday and would return.

Submitted By: Mrs Amanda KempWe were a bit worried having read the reviews but they were much better than reviews we had read for other places. We went open minded.
We had no complaints about the hotel, the only problem was the British Holidaymakers.
The staff at the hotel work very hard and very long hours, if you are polite to them they are polite back. What people forget is that in the hospitality trade staff rely on tips and as most people are All Inclusive they wouldn't think of putting a tip in the jar. I think that the staff get fed up of the greed of holidaymakers especially on All Inclusive.
We thought the food was great, there was such a variety at every meal and food available pretty much all day. If you like fresh fruit, salad and freshly cooked meat and fish then you will enjoy the food. There was a good variety which changed daily with about 7 different hot choices. You are served wine by the bottle and beer and soft drinks to your table at lunch and dinner. There is also a section for kids which always has a selection of burgers hotdogs etc and chips for the less adventurous.
Breakfast was great too with a hot selection of sausages, bacon, various eggs, beans, a continental selection, fresh bread and rolls, cereals and fresh fruit.
We were amazed when we heard a lady from Manchester (you could tell by the football shirts) state at one meal that there was nothing that she liked, her son said "welcome to my world" as he ate his plate of pasta chips and spaghetti!!!!
I have to say if you don't like foreign food why go abroad?
The hotel is very clean, the rooms are cleaned daily and towels changed.
We had a room facing the front to the main road and Benidorm Palace, I am a light sleeper and did not get woken once by the noise. We had the doors shut and the air conditioning on as it was hot. There is a fridge in your room which is great. And even with four beds made up there was plenty of space.
The location is good, not too far from the town and beach but far enough that it is quiet.
The hotel operates a card system for drinks, there were complaints about it while we were there, but it didn't cause us a problem. You are issued keycards for each member of your party and you need these for drinks and they say you can only get 2 drinks at a time, this is to keep the queues down, if they are not busy they are pretty flexible.
There is a kids club and a great play area, the only thing that spoils it is unsupervised kids.
The only thing that we and other familys we spoke to didn't like was the children of the people who go on holiday to ignore their kids and just sit in the bar oblivious. But you get that wherever you are and that is nothing to do with the hotel it is pot luck on who is there at the same time as you.
The hotel was fully booked while we were there and it was busy around the pool, there is a sign that says no reserving sunloungers but unless you join the masses ignoring it then you won't get a bed.
We had a great time and enjoyed our stay and would definately go again. The only problem is we have a child at school so have to go in school holidays, if you can avoid school holidays I am sure you will have an even better time that we did.

On looking at the reviews many said that they did not like this hotel
we thought it was first class, excellent food and the area that it was in
was excellent - We thought it was good that there were no lager louts
and that there were no ball games in the pool or lio's much to the dismay
of some of the english tourists some of which did nothing but complain.
We would definately return again

Submitted By: Mr T KingAs an All Inclusive guest you are given an I D card , with you picture on . This has to be shown when entering the resaurant & also when leaving along with the receipt for all drinks consumed. However you were not allowed to take anything ( food or drinks ) from there out into the lounge or pool area. In the lounge bar you have to show it to obtain a drink , 1 card per person- 1 drink per card. This is insulting , demeaning , irritating & ultimately caused a lot of anguish with practically everybody . The queues for drinks was constant & not helped by the attitiude of the bar staff who only seemed interested in serving paying customers . They were allowed to walk up to another part of the bar & receive instant attention , especially when tipping ! Bearing in mind that as "All Inclusive " we had actually alraedy paid , In Advance ? After the bar was officialy closed they would continue to serve, paying for drinks of course. But then would walk around with a large tray demanding 50 cents off each individual for the privaidge of being served , terrible. Also if you wished to take anything from the loung bar to your room , even water for instance it had to be paid for !
The cleaners are from another planet, shouting & insulting clients at will , Unbeleivable !While there for 10 days not once was our bathroom floor cleaned & the minimum of effort used in doing the job they were paid for seemed to be the norm . By far the worst i / we have ever experienced.
The food was a mixed bag, some days very good on others not so good with a fair bit of repetition especially desserts .Yet all in all i would say quite acceptable .The Christmas day meal was a dissapointment , with far too many fish courses & the turkey looked like it came from Bernard Mathews ! The New Years meal was excellent , including lobster & we really enjoyed it.
In between meals there were supposed to be " snacks" available . Now to me snacks are what you nibble on , tapas, nuts, maybe a burger etc..when you are having a drink & socialising . Yet they were only available back in the restaurant ( you couldn't take anything out ..No Way ! ) and consisted mostly of the leftovers from mealtimes ! Hot dog sausages & burgers with NO buns ? Wierd ! Another major dissapointment !!!
The entertainment consisted of a trio on every night , virtually the same songs etc... somebody should explain to them that if you stand there looking bored senseless then thats what your audience becomes ! They also had 3 very good resident staff who did bingo & the kids disco etc . The were liked by everybody & worked really hard to entertain in various ways , kids club during the day too. Other nights we had , Michael Jackson look a like - Brilliant ! Magic show , OK ! Cuban dancers , Good ! Parrot Show ..Kids enjoyed it ! And even Santa turned up to give presents to everybody too.
As stated in other reviews ,during this time there was a party of approximately 30 to 40 Irish people with their families. Described as " Tinkers " I would suggest that is an insulting & snobbish remark to make ! Yes they were noisy & boistiorous , tell me what group of that many wouldnt be especially with teenagers along . Most of them were also very unhappy with the hotel , i spoke to one who told me that he had spent over 5000 pounds to bring his family away on holiday only to be treated poorly . The general opinion of most seemed to be "Never Again "
The hotel itself is a good size & design, the facilities good , location perfect . So why do i ( all of us ) and most of the people we met say that we would not go there again or recommend it ? As i have said , the hotel policy with All Inclusive clients is very bad & you are treated as second class customers. The staff need a training programme & firm management . Somebody in a senior position should read these reviews & take note !
We live in Spain & every year drive up to Benidorm for our All Inclusive stay , sadly this years ( for the first time ) was a big let down .! We shall go elsewhere next year .

Submitted By: Miss C ThompsonThe reception staff were unfriendly and unwilling to help on any occasion. The dining room staff were just diabolical, all they were interested in was getting you to have a drink before your bum hit the seat of your chair and taking away your dinner plates (most of the time before you'd finished your last mouthful of food)!
The food was like nothing I've ever tasted before - that's because when we cook at home, we eat properly cooked well flavoured food. What we had at the Meditteraneo was either over or under cooked, repetitive and all tasted the same. Certainly like nothing you'd expect staying in a 4 star hotel. In our opinion it deserves no more than a 2 star rating.
The bar closed promptly every night when the all inclusive customers had to start paying therefore if you were half board like us you had no chance of getting a nightcap when you returned to the hotel. Although after a few days of their service we didn't want to spend more time than what was necessary in the hotel.
The only members of staff that deserve a small amount of recognition are the maids. Our room was cleaned every day and clean sheets and towels were provided on a regular basis. The floor was also swept and mopped occasionally to keep it in reasonable order.
We will definately NOT be returning to this hotel and would certainly not recommend anyone else ruining their holiday by doing the same.

Submitted By: Mr N R StampThis along with a noisy lift and marble floor corridors meant that each returning guest would, clip clop to their rooms till 5 o’clock in the morning The late arrivals sometimes 3 am would do the same with their luggage, and the tour bus ticks over outside your useless double glazed patio doors Needless to say this is by far the noisiest hotel we have stayed in if it had not have been for our ear plugs. We would have had 5 totally sleepless nights. 2 nights the palace is closed. heaven!
We were unfortunate to be there when about 40 Irish tinkers who stayed over Xmas were there. The management allowed the party to run riot, smoked where they liked, were served excessive drinks, threw food all over the dining room and allowed their kids to play ball and chase one another around. Amid the tables. As for the food it was good, the rooms were large and clean.
The reception staff could do with lessons in customer care and humility. Because when you complain, you then become the problem and they suggested that they were not responsible and we would be expected to report to them the room numbers of the offenders.
This not what we expected of a 4star hotel and will not be returning And advise you to insist on a back room pool view. Or go to the Flamingo Oasis just down the road.

Submitted By: Ms S MellorAlthough the bedrooms were large and well planned the beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom floor wasn't washed at all during our stay, trainer marks still evident at the end of our stay. The food was chronic, cold for most of the time, not varied enough and either overcooked or not cooked enough. We had brussel sprouts on one occasion which were so hard you could have smashed a conker with them.
The bar staff were rude. On the first night of our stay we queued at the bar to get a drink to be told we could only get one drink at a time with one card. On hearing this my boyfriend, who was second in the queue, turned to me to ask me to give him my card so that he could get me a drink also. When he turned back to the bar the waitress gesticulated with him and told him to get to the back of the now long queue. Being annoyed with this type of treatment on more than one occasion, even though we paid for an all inclusive holiday, we opted to eat and drink at our favourite bar where the food was far superior than at this so called four star hotel.
In my opinion it should only merit two stars. In conclusion, if you want a really good holiday give this hotel a miss.

The staff were a little stand-offish at first, but they thawed and were actually very pleasant by the middle of our stay. In fairness, by October I think most staff become jaded and probably fed-up of some of the rudeness they have to put up with, but once they realise you are friendly and polite, you get the same response back. All were very efficient and professional at all times.
The rooms were light, clean and airy and loads of well thought out space with a good view. Really glad it wasn't a huge high-rise monstrosity.
On the down side - the entertainment was only any good when they "bought in" a couple of acts. The resident key-board player and his singing partner was something that probably appealed mostly to people over 60 who just want a bit of back-ground noise. The kids entertainment was very basic (good when the female staff provided it but a bit grim when the bloke tried!!) and only on for a short time in the morning and then again before the bingo at night. Anyone under 40 or without kids would be as well to get out and about to see what else is on offer at nights, but just be prepared to pay dear for drinks locally - especially spirits or soft drinks.
Our room also smelled very strongly of smoke when we arrived, but opening balcony doors soon cleared it, but we did notice that it had a tendency to return if we switched on the air conditioning - not bad enough to make a complaint - we just left off the air con, but it would have been a bit much if it had been any hotter.
Locally - Terra Mitica is a good but pricey day out - by going there in October we really scored with not having to queue for any rides.
I would recommend the boat trip out to the island - I think it was 12.50 for an adult and 10 euros for a child. This took you out to the island you can see jutting out of the water, just off the mainland. When you arrive at the island, you are then transferred onto a little boat rather like a half submarine. There you will see the most amazing sea life - now I understand why people take up scuba diving!!
Benidorm itself is huge and very built up and ever so busy. We went in October and that was bad enough - don't think I would have coped with it in the height of the summer. The local shops all tend to sell the same things. The market is not bad - but have a good look around as the prices can vary quite a bit.
Medical & First Aid equipment is pretty expensive - bonjela equivalent - 8 euros!!! Paracetamol was 7 euros!!!!
The worst of it all I have to say were the British people - so sad that we have to show ourselves up the way we do - rudeness, drunken behaviour... yeah, you see a lot of that too in Benidorm - but all of that is no reflection on this hotel. I have given my score on the basis of everything being really good aside from the entertainment.
All in all, good value for money and worthy of its four stars.
Advice: The hotel is of a very good standard, but Benidorm is very busy and built up.
Activities: Terra Mitica and the Boat Trip described above.
Good for: Beach
