My husband daughter son in law and 2 grandchildren
were at the Mediterraneo Hotel from 5th April to 12th April 08
On looking at the reviews many said that they did not like this hotel
we thought it was first class, excellent food and the area that it was in
was excellent - We thought it was good that there were no lager louts
and that there were no ball games in the pool or lio's much to the dismay
of some of the english tourists some of which did nothing but complain.
We would definately return again

We stayed over the Christmas & New Year period ,All Inclusive with a party of 10, 6 adults & 4 children .The problem with this hotel is quite simply down to bad management & having spoken with the person in charge it is not difficult to understand why . She is a young Spanish girl /woman obviously lacking in authority & experience & herein ies the reason for the so many apparent complaints. The attitude & behaviour of some members of staff is not what you would expect , nor accept in a 1 star hotel ; yet this is classed as 4 star ? To summarise .....
As an All Inclusive guest you are given an I D card , with you picture on . This has to be shown when entering the resaurant & also when leaving along with the receipt for all drinks consumed. However you were not allowed to take anything ( food or drinks ) from there out into the lounge or pool area. In the lounge bar you have to show it to obtain a drink , 1 card per person- 1 drink per card. This is insulting , demeaning , irritating & ultimately caused a lot of anguish with practically everybody . The queues for drinks was constant & not helped by the attitiude of the bar staff who only seemed interested in serving paying customers . They were allowed to walk up to another part of the bar & receive instant attention , especially when tipping ! Bearing in mind that as "All Inclusive " we had actually alraedy paid , In Advance ? After the bar was officialy closed they would continue to serve, paying for drinks of course. But then would walk around with a large tray demanding 50 cents off each individual for the privaidge of being served , terrible. Also if you wished to take anything from the loung bar to your room , even water for instance it had to be paid for !
The cleaners are from another planet, shouting & insulting clients at will , Unbeleivable !While there for 10 days not once was our bathroom floor cleaned & the minimum of effort used in doing the job they were paid for seemed to be the norm . By far the worst i / we have ever experienced.
The food was a mixed bag, some days very good on others not so good with a fair bit of repetition especially desserts .Yet all in all i would say quite acceptable .The Christmas day meal was a dissapointment , with far too many fish courses & the turkey looked like it came from Bernard Mathews ! The New Years meal was excellent , including lobster & we really enjoyed it.
In between meals there were supposed to be " snacks" available . Now to me snacks are what you nibble on , tapas, nuts, maybe a burger etc..when you are having a drink & socialising . Yet they were only available back in the restaurant ( you couldn't take anything out ..No Way ! ) and consisted mostly of the leftovers from mealtimes ! Hot dog sausages & burgers with NO buns ? Wierd ! Another major dissapointment !!!
The entertainment consisted of a trio on every night , virtually the same songs etc... somebody should explain to them that if you stand there looking bored senseless then thats what your audience becomes ! They also had 3 very good resident staff who did bingo & the kids disco etc . The were liked by everybody & worked really hard to entertain in various ways , kids club during the day too. Other nights we had , Michael Jackson look a like - Brilliant ! Magic show , OK ! Cuban dancers , Good ! Parrot Show ..Kids enjoyed it ! And even Santa turned up to give presents to everybody too.
As stated in other reviews ,during this time there was a party of approximately 30 to 40 Irish people with their families. Described as " Tinkers " I would suggest that is an insulting & snobbish remark to make ! Yes they were noisy & boistiorous , tell me what group of that many wouldnt be especially with teenagers along . Most of them were also very unhappy with the hotel , i spoke to one who told me that he had spent over 5000 pounds to bring his family away on holiday only to be treated poorly . The general opinion of most seemed to be "Never Again "
The hotel itself is a good size & design, the facilities good , location perfect . So why do i ( all of us ) and most of the people we met say that we would not go there again or recommend it ? As i have said , the hotel policy with All Inclusive clients is very bad & you are treated as second class customers. The staff need a training programme & firm management . Somebody in a senior position should read these reviews & take note !
We live in Spain & every year drive up to Benidorm for our All Inclusive stay , sadly this years ( for the first time ) was a big let down .! We shall go elsewhere next year .

My self and my husband went to the mediteranneo the hotel was very nice and clean apart from the food the variety was very poor it was the same all the time but just dressed up a bit the variety for children was poor, the staff was not at all helpful they was miserable and not at all socialable. I thought that when you was all inclusive that ment even to a ice cream but not there you had to pay for that which i thought was bad. I would like to know how gave it a 4 star i would only give this hotel a 2 star my score out of 10 is 4 dont think i would go to it again. We did enjoy our holiday because we met some people had a good laugh its what you make it your self

My boyfriend and I had the misfortune to be staying at the Meditteraneo Hotel for 18 nights over the Christmas and New Year period 2007/2008. As I sit writing this review I am struggling to find 1 good thing to say about the hotel.
The reception staff were unfriendly and unwilling to help on any occasion. The dining room staff were just diabolical, all they were interested in was getting you to have a drink before your bum hit the seat of your chair and taking away your dinner plates (most of the time before you'd finished your last mouthful of food)!
The food was like nothing I've ever tasted before - that's because when we cook at home, we eat properly cooked well flavoured food. What we had at the Meditteraneo was either over or under cooked, repetitive and all tasted the same. Certainly like nothing you'd expect staying in a 4 star hotel. In our opinion it deserves no more than a 2 star rating.
The bar closed promptly every night when the all inclusive customers had to start paying therefore if you were half board like us you had no chance of getting a nightcap when you returned to the hotel. Although after a few days of their service we didn't want to spend more time than what was necessary in the hotel.
The only members of staff that deserve a small amount of recognition are the maids. Our room was cleaned every day and clean sheets and towels were provided on a regular basis. The floor was also swept and mopped occasionally to keep it in reasonable order.
We will definately NOT be returning to this hotel and would certainly not recommend anyone else ruining their holiday by doing the same.

We booked this hotel because of its advertised quiet location, but the largest night club in Benidorm is right opposite, if you are put in the front rooms you will need ear plugs because between 1 and 2 am, the Benidorm Palace closes and all the revellers emerge to meet their taxis and coaches.
This along with a noisy lift and marble floor corridors meant that each returning guest would, clip clop to their rooms till 5 o’clock in the morning The late arrivals sometimes 3 am would do the same with their luggage, and the tour bus ticks over outside your useless double glazed patio doors Needless to say this is by far the noisiest hotel we have stayed in if it had not have been for our ear plugs. We would have had 5 totally sleepless nights. 2 nights the palace is closed. heaven!
We were unfortunate to be there when about 40 Irish tinkers who stayed over Xmas were there. The management allowed the party to run riot, smoked where they liked, were served excessive drinks, threw food all over the dining room and allowed their kids to play ball and chase one another around. Amid the tables. As for the food it was good, the rooms were large and clean.
The reception staff could do with lessons in customer care and humility. Because when you complain, you then become the problem and they suggested that they were not responsible and we would be expected to report to them the room numbers of the offenders.
This not what we expected of a 4star hotel and will not be returning And advise you to insist on a back room pool view. Or go to the Flamingo Oasis just down the road.

My friends and I have just returned from a week’s vacation at the Mediterraneo Hotel. We found the hotel staff to be very unfriendly except for one restaurant waiter a young man named Richard.
Although the bedrooms were large and well planned the beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom floor wasn't washed at all during our stay, trainer marks still evident at the end of our stay. The food was chronic, cold for most of the time, not varied enough and either overcooked or not cooked enough. We had brussel sprouts on one occasion which were so hard you could have smashed a conker with them.
The bar staff were rude. On the first night of our stay we queued at the bar to get a drink to be told we could only get one drink at a time with one card. On hearing this my boyfriend, who was second in the queue, turned to me to ask me to give him my card so that he could get me a drink also. When he turned back to the bar the waitress gesticulated with him and told him to get to the back of the now long queue. Being annoyed with this type of treatment on more than one occasion, even though we paid for an all inclusive holiday, we opted to eat and drink at our favourite bar where the food was far superior than at this so called four star hotel.
In my opinion it should only merit two stars. In conclusion, if you want a really good holiday give this hotel a miss.

The hotel was about a 20 minute walk from hotel - uphill coming back (was okay with us)
Excellent accommodation.
Excellent food. Loads of choice. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 children (2 and 5 years)
Only entertainment was mini disco for children (1/2 hour per night) and then a three piece group (okay). The resident children’s reps were brilliant and really put their heart and soul into it. There was a magic show and reptile show other nights (for about 1/2 hour).
All the daytime activities were finished - I was told they were only for the summer time.
Indoor pool was tiny - with a rather unhelpful man who insisted swimming caps were worn at all times - over 1 euro a time!
Staff were friendly and helpful, apart from 1 lady on reception.
Mundomar was a good afternoon out and within walking distance.
Also enjoyed the Benidorm Palace show - right opposite the hotel - both good value for money.
All the internet facilities were down and none of the pool tables, air hockey or football machines were working. I complained at reception and was told they used an outside company to maintain the machines and they would not come out. Really disappointed - as my son and husband were looking forward to some 'tournaments'
Overall this hotel was good - but I would not go back again due to lack of working facilities and lack of daytime entertainment. (Weather was not brilliant about 19 degrees and we went 27th October, 2007 - 3rd November, 2007)
Love Benidorm - have been there 3 times now and will go again.

We had a fantastic holiday at the Mediterraneo Hotel in Benidorm. Rooms are fantastic and are cleaned thoroughly daily. Service is great with all staff smiling and laughing. Entertainment is great and not on too late so both parents and kids can have fun. Food can be repetitive and lacking in flavour. Not a far walk from the main centre and very close to Mundomar and Water Park.
Would definitely recommend.

This hotel was fantastic and clean. Food great always a good choice.
We did have to wait a while at bar sometimes for a drink but that was not a problem. Rooms spotless and the pool area was very clean and always a sunbed free.
It is a walk into town but that’s not a problem, local transport and taxis are always on hand.
I would recommend this hotel. My husband and myself will go back to Benidorm and definitely go back to this hotel.

Just arrived back from Benidorm, myself, partner, and two children.
We found the hotel to be very clean and tidy at all times. We were very disappointed at the fact, we had to pay for bottled water, crisps, snacks, and ice creams for the kids, things kids always want! They did do small free ice creams but never had any available! But they advertised a lot for the ones you pay for!!
For adults, if you wanted drinks such as Smirnoff vodka, Gordon’s gin, bottled beers, etc. you had to pay 1.80euro extra for each drink. This was supposed to be all inclusive, you were only allowed to go to the bar with two cards max, one drink per card, and this was annoying as we had two young children.
It felt as if we were constantly queuing for the bar, as at night-time they was always one member of staff on, and a queue a mile long in the outside bar.
The food was nice for adults not much for young children as my son is a toddler, and our daughter didn’t like the food, so we ended up taking the kids out to eat.
For what we spent outside the hotel for drinks and food we should of gone self catering, which we will do next time we visit Benidorm.
The entertainment wasn’t very good either, same thing every night, mini disco for kids, same songs, in same order every night followed by one game of bingo, then maybe an act for half hour afterwards.
I feel that we wasted a lot of money on this holiday. Don’t get me wrong the hotel was very nice and spotless, but it just wasn’t for us. It was a good job though that we had taken extra spending money!!!

We are a family of 5; kids are 15, 14 and 12. On arrival we were really impressed with the hotel. Could not fault the hotel at all. It was kept spotless at all times, there were always cleaners here there and everywhere working really hard and most of them would make a point of saying 'hola' to you.
As expected from reading other reviews unless you set your alarm for about 7am to put your towels on the sun beds you won't be able to choose where you want. I admit I was one of the culprits even though there are 'No Reserving' signs on every other post around the pool; nobody stops you from reserving them. You have to do it otherwise you won't get a decent spec.
The restaurant was excellent, could not fault it at all, plenty to choose from although my daughters didn't like trying different things and had chips and nuggets/burgers a lot, heaven for them!! There were snacks in between meal times which was great.
The restaurant staff are very friendly and work extremely hard. As soon as you arrive at a table the staff are with you in seconds to see what drinks you require and when you are finished they waste no time preparing for the next family.
You will never struggle for a table as there are loads as there are a 2 and a half hour time span to have your food.
As my kids are teenagers, the night entertainment didn't appeal to them, mainly catered for the younger ones. That was no disaster as there are a few pubs only yards to the left of the hotel to choose from that do acts. A pub I recommend is The Tropical Bar.
We saw 'Peteloaf'.... yes you guessed a Meatloaf tribute, he was suburb. There was a John Lennon tribute which was also good and many more. The good old potato men were on the prowl along the beech and on market day Wed/Sun trying to con us holiday makers, please don't fall for it. The same fellas were doing it 8 years ago which is when I last went. If you watch carefully the people surrounding them are also in on it to attract you to have a go!! Beware!!
Terra Mitica and Aqualandia are excellent places to visit especially if you have teenagers. Money well spent.
The Mediterraneo Hotel is the nicest hotel in Benidorm and is located in an ideal spot, just away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to go into it. It is also opposite Benidorm Palace, we didn't visit there as we didn't think our kids would like it as it was a bit pricey.
Overall the holiday was great. I personally think the hotel should be a 5 star not a 4, highly recommended.

i went there when it was an english hotel i relly enjoyed it the entertament was fantastic and so was the staff there was reps that would look after your childeren and take them places like the water park or beach while you go out. you are in minutes of the water parks and benidom palace was just over the road. the first choice reps were exelnent thay would help you with every think. the hotle was amazing it was very clean and tidy the pool was a big size and thay did day time acktivies like salsa and ping pong tournements the only down fall was the size of the romms thay were quite small but very nice.
