Submitted By: Mrs S McGuinnessThe rooms are clean and are kept that way daily.
Food is buffet style and all tastes are catered for, with hot & cold meals available for both breakfast & evening.
There is entertainment every evening of a high standard.
Our rep Phillipa was the best we have ever had, nothing was too much trouble, always available to give help & advice, she was cheerful & approachable.
The beach is a 20 minute walk downhill & if you come back through the town you can avoid steep hills whilst passing interesting shops & cafes.
All taxis in Nerja are quite cheap so it is not too expensive to come back from the beach by one.
Overall we were very happy at this hotel, and will definitely be returning.

Submitted By: ratrollThe hotel Nerja Club was NOT suitable for children!!! The location of the Hotel Nerja Club was NOT suitable for children and unfortunatley the resort of Nerja was NOT suitable for children. The resort rep was friendly and had the utmost amount of sympathy for us because she herslf admited that the place was not suitable for our requirements and we should never have been sent there but could not help us in any way shape or form because there was nothing in that could be done.
There was a distinct lack of facilities at the Hotal Nerja Club unless I wished to spend a small fortune, there was no fridge and the food was horrendous, dripping in oil to preserve it whilst it languished on a hotplate for hours at a time. I had to hire a car to attempt to occupy us because even the beaches in Nerja are inapropriate for children the nearest beach which I was told was a ten minute walk away was in fact a half an hour walk down a near veritical hill which took nearly an hour to walk back up because a tired four year old child finds rock climbing extremely difficult! There was no sand to be found anywhere at the beach only builders rubble and grit with which to build a castle with and the shoreline was and I am not exaggerating treacherous. I was horrified to witness an accident on the Playa de Torcilla because of the conditions of the beach and then watch as the man in question lay on the floor waiting for 45 minutes for an ambulance to collect him. My entire holiday budget disappeared on eating out and transport!!
I booked a holiday to relax not to create my own peronal hole in the ozone layer, which unfortunately I did create because of the 2 hour 40 minute round trip to a child friendly resort!
Not only was the food disgusting and the place inappropariate but the the rooms were dirty, there was in the corner of my room a large cobweb that was thick with dust. The sheets were not changed for the duration of my stay. The floor was not cleaned for the duration of my stay and I had to request fresh towels as they were not automatically changed to be given towels that had holes in. Also the sky television that hotel boasts of is not in the rooms and is only available at one television in the main lounge area which unfortunatley was not in operation because the sky card was missing. The pool was also unacceptable because there was no shallow end, the shallowest depth being 1.5 metres obviously my four year old son is not above this height so we could not use this facility. The onsite entertainment was also completely unacceptable because the main event didn't start untill 10pm (past my sons bed time you will agree?) thats if you could even call it entertainment because the same one man and his guitar every night who couldnt sing I dont class as entertainment, but then maybe I am being fussy?!
I was so upset to find my family and I in such a situation I called the 24 hour holiday helpline to try to get flights home and end this nightmare to be told one that my flights were non transferable and two that there were no available flights anyway.
What a disaster!

Submitted By: Mr D BarnettWe felt like freaks, all the guests were fussing over the children, just being friendly of course, but after a while it became embarassing and we dreaded mealtimes when we were the only people there aged under 50.
This was a friendly hotel, but in a very hilly area and the walk from the beach was very hard work up hill.
Go there if you wish to hire a car, have a look around, there's some good mountainous driving roads inland.
Some people there at the time were prepering to go off skiing, a hour or two along the road.
Food was ok, but the resort was for oldies.

Submitted By: Mr E D HerbertThe hotel is out of town and up-up-up the hill, not good on a wet or windy day with no car.
We were unfortunate with the weather- too cold for pool or seating out of doors. Better in side if you didn't mind the uncomfortable chairs in the conservatory & lounge. Room was poor, not dirty so much as tired & the green paint ??? Sorry to say the beds were uncomfertable and that Pillow was a killer.
Food was acceptable but not brilliant and the guys on the bar were quite happy to serve you-in there own time.
All in all we felt that we needed a holiday when we got back.
Wouldn't go to Nerja again nor the Nerja Club

Submitted By: Mr M RosierIn the end the hotel was fine. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The room was serviced every day. The balcony was small, there was enough room for two chairs, but the views over the sea, and mountains were good.
We were on half-board basis and, again, I was concerned about what we were going to be served. Once again, the reality did not bear out the comments posted by others. There was ample choice: soup, salads, three main courses, and desserts. It was a buffet, not a la carte, but then that is made clear in the brochures.
The hotel is not without its downsides.
Principal amongst them is its location. It is a good 25/30 minute walk to the Balcon de Europe, a mile and a half downhill, but, of course, a mile and a half uphill on the way back!
The nearest beach is about a mile down a very steep hill. I think the holiday operators are being disingenuous when they talk about the beach just being 1.2km away.
Something else that we found tedious was the nightly entertainment. It was definitely not our cup-of-tea. However, there were many that did enjoy it. We preferred to sit in the garden and drink coffee and Spanish brandy instead.
To conclude, the Club Hotel Nerja is a good 2/3 star Spanish hotel. People can't expect to get UK 4 star facilities for these prices. If they want that, they should stay at the Parador instead.

Submitted By: Mrs D WeatherspoonThe rooms have 2 beds so our son was on a putty up bed (which kept collapsing). We asked our rep to transfer us and we were told we would have to pay an extra £1,500 which was obviously out of the question.
Our rep said she would get our son a proper bed and supply us with lots of information on places to go to keep our son entertained. In the 2 weeks were there the rep never got our son a bed or supply us with any leaflets/information on places to go. Each time we seen her around the hotel (which wasn’t very often) she would avoid us as much as possible.
The food was poor and very basic. Because the food was so poor we ended up having to eat out which we had not budgeted for.
This hotel is situated in a residential area and to get around you need to either walk for at least 45 minutes or taxi to the nearest town or beach. The buses are very unreliable.
Overall this is probably the worst holiday we have ever been on and we will certainly never travel with Thomas cook again.

Submitted By: Mrs S D ReayThe room was like a prison cell, the stairs were dangerous, the pool was empty, reception staff professional, waiting and bar staff rude and surly, food poor, plates chipped and the rep did not want to know.
I asked at reception to change room but they said it wasn't possible. After day 5 I managed to get hold of the rep and asked for a complaints form - she had run out. All of the Thompson guests were complaining.
The location of this hotel means that unless you are part mountain goat you are virtually a captive. If you are tempted to book a holiday DON'T, DON'T DON'T. If I were given this hotel as a prize I would give it back. It is disgusting, shabby and I would rate it as 1 star on a good day.

Submitted By: louie52We were only there for 4 days but could not fault anything. Staff very friendly, rooms cleaned every day, food hot and the entertainment was better than some we have had to put up with! British TV channels too!
There is a Super sol supermarket just across the road and a couple of British pubs a 10 minute walk away up the hill, past the sports stadium. The only thing I would say is that the hotel is next to a dual carriageway so if you get a choice ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Submitted By: Mr D MilkinsWe complained to the rep and were moved to a better bedroom but this room was very noisy being able to listen to the TV in rooms next door to ours.
This room was very clean and was serviced every day to a good standard and the TV had a lot of English channels including sports channels. The food is basic but was well cooked although did lack a bit of Spanish idea but this did suit the mainly British customers.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with walking problems as it is on the out skirts of Nerja and is a 20 mins steady walk to the centre of Nerja and about 15 mins down hill walk to one of the best beaches in the Costa de Sol, Playa Burriana.
The beach is unspoilt and has a very friendly atmosphere with a few café bars and some excellent restaurants.
Taxis in Nerja are just 5 euros per journey. The Caves of Nerja are worth a visit as is the lovely village of Frigillana.

Spotlessly clean. So many repeat visitors.I think that says it all.
Advice: Small, beautiful views, not for anyone with mobility problems
Activities: Caves.Walks.Scenery
Good for: Beach
