This hotel is about 10 minutes bus ride from Mijas Village in the Andalusia Mountains, about 20minutes taxi ride from Malaga Airport. It may be one of the nicest hotels I have ever been to, the decoration is beautiful and of very high standard, it is very very clean and the... more

This was the second time I have stayed at Club Puerto del Sol and I will definitely go back the next time I visit the Costa del Sol. I originally stayed at this hotel in 2005 with a mixture of both friends and family. We came across the hotel by accident whilst browsing the... more

Starting with a positive note our accommodation was of a very high standard, the maid service came in everyday, with clean towels. The food was very bland with small amount to choose from, not always a great deal for the children. many of the staff were not pleasant and... more

Booked specifically for a relaxing 4*star holiday in a rural location...most definitely not. not even up to 3* for a Spanish hotel. Can judge having worked in tourism for a number of years and also having lived in Northern Spain. Room facilities not as described. no... more

loved this hotel
I have just returned from a singles holiday based in this hotel.I was very pleased with my stay,I was worried after reading some of the comments, but was pleasantly surprised.I found my room to be spacious not like some single rooms,It is in a beautiful peaceful spot I would go again
Good getting better!
We booked this hotel with the knowledge from trip advisor. What a great spanish hotel, not full of ignorant brits, but genuine holiday makers and business people willing to make an effort to mix with the culture. The hotel has just been taken over by an experienced hotelier, who doesn`t mind going back to the floor. The hotel isn`t quite 4 star at the moment but a refurb is planned within the next 8 weeks and I am confident that it will be a 4* plus. Great for real spain lovers.
Nice Hotel - Just right to use as a base
We have just returned from holidaying in Mijas and used this hotel as a bed for the night. we stayed on a bed & breakfast basis. when we arrived we were very tired and requested quiet rooms. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and gave us two lovely quiet rooms overlooking Mijas. The hotel itself is very basic and as one of the previous reviews says there are no tea/coffee making facilities. You would definately need a car. We couldnt get a meal in the resturant because it closed at 9.30pm which is quite early, but there are plenty of places elsewhere to eat. The breakfast was excellent and gave a choice of everything from continental to full english and was delicious. We would certainly recommend staying on a B & B basis. In fact we were staying in a villa up the road and was quite tempted to pop down to the hotel for breakfast everyday! Drinks were quite expensive but that was to be expected in a hotel but they werent stingy with their shorts! All in all we got exactly what we wanted with this hotel and would definately stay again.
ok stay
We just retuned rom a 3 night stay at puerta del sol and have to say it wasn't as bad as we'd expected (after reading previous reviews). We would have to say that it is definately not a 4* hotel, we would class it more a 2-3* hotel. Reception staff were polite, though at times it was hard to get their attention. The room was ok, though the shower and bathroom definately requires some attention. We stayed on a b+b basis and the food was so so, the breakfast selection never varied all the time we were there. The pool area is lovely and wasn't really used much by others whilst we were there. Unfortunately we didn't have a car so used public transport which was ok, but would recomend to anyone planning to stay here that they hire a car as there is nothing within walking distance.
Not a 4* in any way
We booked into this Hotel for 4 nights and left within 4 hours. Drab is the only neutral word I can use to explain this place, not 4* by any means. Lots of flies and sparrows when eating on the terrace, no tea making facilities within the room, decorator and carpet fitter required for major refirbushment. I could go on and on but know that anybody with a young child staying here will feel the same. Maybe I expected too much but I wanted more than just a view air-conditioning would have helped as it was +30.
Simply not the best!!
We stayed at this hotel at one of the busiest time of the year i.e. first week in August. We fully expected entertainment both for ourselves and our 3 year old child. There was absolutely no entertainment for the children and our entertainment occurred only twice during the week - and that wasn't the best. The food was very bland and uninteresting. The bathrooms were a death trap - especially for my partner - who is a reasonably big chap. He could not get in and out of the bath with ease because it was so small and the shower danced around the bath when you turned it on! All in all we would not go back to this hotel and wonder where the 4* rating comes from. The rooms weren't particularly clean either.
Lovely setting and views
This hotel is very smart and well maintained with efficent helpful staff. It is situated between Mijas and Fuengirola in a quiet area. Local buses stop outside and it is one euro to either place, the buses run about every 20 mins. Mijas is very quaint and interesting with donkey taxis resturants and souvenir shops. Fuengirola is large and busy with a long sandy beach which shelves into a very clean sea.Food at the hotel is buffet style with a good selection of both hot and cold food for breakfast and dinner. Hot and cold snacks can be ordered from the bar all day. During the week I stayed there was entertainment 3 evenings dancers and a singer that was good to dance to.Pool towels are not provided but room ones are nice and plentiful. Hairdryers can be borrowed from reception there are several types and are very good. It is difficult to walk any where as the road is busy with traffic and there are no paths. There is an English bar down the hill but it was empty early in the season. Drinks from the hotel bar are expensive 1.9 euros a soft drink.5 euros a large bacardi and coke. There are however vending machines which sell cans, crisps and sweets.Went on a singles holiday and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Nice and Quiet
The hotel was nice and quiet, but no where to walk to during the day unless you walked up and down a steep bank, which could be quite nerve racking as there was no pavement! Breakfast was ok, tended to be the same every day, pool area very nice, there were sunbeds and you could get mattresses but you had to provide your own towels, and also there is no hairdryer in the rooms. Staff were friendly. We got the bus down to Fuengirola at nights (1 euro) or up to Mijas (1 euro). Only problem was that the buses finished quite early (10pm and 1030pm respectively). Found a really nice fish restaurant in Mijas called Bar Tamisa just along from the Hotel Mijas. In Fuengirola, go to the old town which is much nicer than the touristy front. Good value for money.
We liked it so much we came again
Yes it's true. I can't understand the negative comments. You know when you book it that it's a bus or taxi ride to the sea or to the charming village of Mijas. We chose B&B only because the restaurants in Mijas and others towards the sea are fantastic. I cannot remember the breakfast being as bad as some describe, I certainly didn't go hungry. Maybe the comments were from people who aonly want to eat "English" food. Give it a try, we did and really enjoyed it. We are going again in 2 weeks time.
Two-bob hotel, no dolphins
This hotel was appaling. we were posted leaflets for dolphins world, after me and my partner were drawn to the area for the natural beauty and the possibilty to see dolphins. After going to reception to verify the possibility of seeing said creatures, they informed us that this was not feasible. without dolphins, we had to make the most of the hotel, which was attrocious. The swimming pool was dirty, the staff rude and spoke poor english and there were too many wasps lingering on the mini golf circuit. the taxis were VERY expensive and we felt VERY ripped-off as the hotel staff obviously had some VERY dodgy dealings with taxis with often place 10-15 euros on the price. We do not recommend this hotel. We came for the dolphins, we left with nightmares.
