superb!

this hotel and its location were absolutely fantastic. the service, cleanliness, friendly staff and spacious room all added to our outstanding two week stay here at the stamos. It had all the hallmarks of a relaxing September holiday, not too busy as the season was winding down, hot beautiful weather (although we had a couple of overcast days - a welcome break from the heat!), friendly relaxed service and a nice small tight-knit community of guests. For those seeking relaxation, this is the place. the town afitos is an absolute gem in the peninsula of kassandra. The stamos is about a 5 min walk down some gorgeous little greek streets and the town square of afitos is set out to offer visitors a great range of bars and restaurants. Make sure you explore the beach, its well worth the trek back uphill! and look out for those visiting dolphins!! Thumbs up to the stamos and afitos, we'll no doubt be back one day, enjoying the metaxa and that gorgeous view out to sea
A wonderfuk place to relax

I have recently returned from holiday with 3 girlfriends and would like to say what a lovely time we had at the Hotel Stamos. The aim of our holiday was for some straightforward R&R and we certainly got that. The rooms are simple but comfortable and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area. The pool area was lovely, impeccably clean and with a nice mixture of lounge chairs and proper seating with tables. We had breakfast there every day which again was simple but satisfying. There was a nice bar by the pool and the drinks were actually the cheapest we found in town! However the most wonderful thing about Stamos are the Stamos family who run it. They could not have been nicer, more welcoming or more accommodating. When we arrived out room wasn’t ready (we had arrived early at around 12pm) however we were shown to the pool area and settled down with complimentary drinks and our room was ready in 20 mins so it was a wonderful start to the holiday. As for the general area the beach is gorgeous but it is a 5 min walk downhill (uphill on the way back!) but it feels very exclusive. There are bars and facilities on the beach and they will bring them to your loungers so you need not even get up! The town was lovely although the restaurants do get a little bit repetitive, the menus are essentially all the same. There are lots of bars and they are modern but the drinks in town are pricey, 8 euros for a cocktail, 6-7 for a G&T. There was one fabulous bar though with happy hour cocktails all night that come with sparklers! All in all it was a lovely holiday and I was very impressed with the standard of accommodation for the price we paid. The hotel is genuinely friendly and very very clean with a mixed group of people there, some older, some younger but because the hotel is small its always quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay at Hotel Stamos again – it is a jewel in this the area.

Amazing Location

We stayed at this Hotel for 2 weeks, and from the minute we arrived until we left everything was brilliant, all of the staff were very friendly and good at there job, especially Kathryn who would be a credit to any hotel, nothing was too much trouble. The new pool bar (1 year old) is a important touch which made our stay even more enjoyable. The resort itself was a typical Greek village with everything that comes with that, quiet, relaxing, great food throughout, if ever you fancy a pizza go to the restaurant called 'The Corner', its just down the road, only order one because there huge!! A bar we would highly recommend was the Lithos Bar, which was the centre of the local community. All the locals went out of there way to make our stay more enjoyable, something we have come to expect from Greek islands. Quite a walk to get to the beach, 2 different ways to get there, choose the steps, its easier!! Beach and the sea is excellent and well worth a walk down. Didnt want to come home, and really miss the whole Stamos Hotel experience, and hope to return in May 09, see you then!! Andy & Tammy, Room 23. xx
Fantastic hotel for a relaxing holiday
from JackSmithLiverpool
Please don’t be put off by the single bad review this hotel has! You would be making a big mistake and missing out on a fantastic stay at the Hotel Stamos. We stayed there for a week at the beginning of June and enjoyed the best holiday we’ve had so far. We read all of the entries in the entire guest book at the hotel which was for comments and suggestions as well as notes of thanks – and there was not one negative comment left by any visitor. The Hotel is superb and well run – with friendly and helpful staff that would go to any lengths to help you out. Our room was spotlessly cleaned daily and had everything we needed. The whole hotel is light and airy – not dingy and dark, with aircon in the room if you wanted it (although we found it cool enough with just the wooden shutter doors closed and the main doors open). The “100 yard walk to the hotel” is in fact less than 50 yards and takes about 30 seconds from where the coach drops you off. And the simple fact that the coach cannot get closer is testament to the fact that the hotel benefits from being on a quiet, narrow street and does not suffer much traffic. As for the disabled access – the hotel along with the rest of Athitos is built on a cliff and access to the hotel is via steps, and the beach via one of two roads – one steep and one mildly sloped but longer. The brochure and the internet site we booked through both mentioned this and we spotted the notices straight away and we weren’t even looking for it! The pool was amazing and the along with the surrounding pool area and bar were clean and had a lovely exotic feel with palm trees and flowers and small birds around. The village of Athitos is amazing and as close to the real Greece as you’re going to find without camping out in a Greek’s house! Even the Greeks from the closest main city of Thessaloniki holiday there. We had a fantastic time at the Stamos hotel – and we would and have recommended it to all of our friends and family.
Absoloute Heaven - very good service!!!

Me and my best mate (2 18 year old girls) stayed at Stamos on May 2008, it is absoloutely ace!! Very clean, staff ALWAYS on hand and very polite, they cant do enough to help. The bar is open 24/7 which is a bonus. The pool is a nice size, and definately one of the best from what we saw, has pool table and table tennis, computers and internet access, food is great - definately recomend the club sandwich haha. We met loads of other nice people too on our wave lengh ( wanting to get hammerd constantly) hehe. The prices are ok, Amstell beer is cheap but tastes just as good as bud/becks so we just opted for this. Cleaner is amazing, our room was an absoloute site, when we came back one day everything was shining, clothes and handbags put into colour co ordination we couldnt believe it! There is grass next door for people who like to have a kick about with the football, and lots of sun loungers dotted around the pool. The rep was cool too - if you are going with escapades, then would suggest to go on the Big Night Out and the 3 Hour free bar. Oh yeah and Stamos also own one of the clubs down bar street, so you are guarenteed a few free shots haha. Over all very friendly, would deffo go again!!
Hotel Stamos,"paradise on earth"?
from SJLSwain
Me and my girlfreind stopped at the Stamos Hotel from 12th july - 19th july and it was absoultly fantastic! iv just read the above review from the disgruntled guest complaining about rats and allsorts and im here to say dont believe a word because the hotel stamos is wonderful! The rooms are spacous and comfy and the decor is very clean and traditional. The hotel is idealy situated in the heart of the town, just 2mins from the very well stocked supermarket,5 mins from the bustling and freindly town centre and 15mins from the beach. As for the pool on the complex its to die for. The breakfast is delicous an ideal start to the day (the orange juice is marvellous!!) Me and my girlfreind will be going back for years to come! hotel stamos "paradise on earth"?......i think so!
What a fantastic place, Stamos Hotel!

I would like to share my fantastic experiences from my stay at Stamos Hotel. To begin with, the hospitality was absolutely fabolous, they are very helpful with whatever you need and always ready to make themselves useful. It is a wonderful environment for relaxation, I really enjoyed it. Athitos is itself a lovely village with its special graphical design. I stayed there for 15 days, and the only thing I regret was that I did not stay longer. But I will definitely visit Stamos Hotel over and over again. My room was fancy and comfortable and always cleaned. At night before I went out to, I usually sat by the bar by the pool and enjoyed diverse cocktails they offered. It was absolutely terrific! If you want to have a vacation to remember, Stamos Hotel is really worth visiting.
don't believe a word it's terrible

Don't believe a word. Stamos Hotel is definitely the worst hotel that my wife and I have ever stayed in. The shower curtain had dried blood on it, (from the previous tenant). The toilet /shower room had no window or ventilation, and the shower drain was literally, just a hole in the floor. The rooms are that dark due to the decor and position, that you need to keep the light on all the time that you are in it. Breakfast starts with a Dickensian meal but without the gruel, the coloured water that they call fruit juice is just a joke. In fact we only used the breakfast room twice, for two reasons. The first as I have just explained, and the second reason is (wait for it). We came back to Stamos after a night out, and to access the main building you have to go through the dining room, which we did only to find to our horror a large rat sat on one of the tables. which looked like it was used to being round people because of the way it just sat there until I threw my water bottle at it. Other reviewes will contradict mine, but mine are true observations. Not criticisms. Oh forgot to mention if you have any mobility problems don't even think of staying at Stamos Because the two flights of steps, that are not mentioned in the brochure will definitely be a problem. After experiencing the rat problem my wife insisted on keeping the balcony door be kept firmly shut. Which meant that the aircon. had to be on the whole time, the hotel owner even refused to waive this charge even though he was aware of the reason for the aircon being on.
Afitos is lovely

Afitos is definitely a place where you would love to go back to again.A village type atmosphere but plenty of tavernas & pizzerias. There was a cocktail bar where we used to go to to end the evening with half price cocktails "happy hour" from 16.00 - 23.00.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Stamos Hotel in Halkidiki and we are suffering from the holiday blues! On arrival at the hotel we were impressed with the pool and bar area. They were exactly how they were pictured on the Stamos Hotel website. When we entered... more
