Returned to Stamos for first time in 4 years and it is still as charming and friendly as the last time. The staff will do anything to help you to enjoy your holiday. Ok, the breakfast is basic but who wants fry ups everyday anyway?
The rooms are exceptionally clean so I don't understand where one bad review is coming from. As for bed bugs or fleas maybe the reviewer bought their own. We didn't even get a mozie bite.
All in all for what you pay you get exceptional service at a hotel in the most beautiful location in Halkidiki.
The beach is fantastic and relatively shallow so good for children (although there are a few rocky areas but if you can bare to walk a few extra metres in the heat there are totally sandy bits). The restaurants and bars in Afitos are very good too but be sure to check prices of drinks on beaches as they can be pricey although they usually include use of sun beds for as long as you want.
All in all really recommend Stamos Hotel.

We arrived back on Friday from what was a fabulous holiday. We have been to Afitos 3 times now and it simply gets better each time.
We are a family of 4, with 2 kids aged 10 & 12. The Stamos Hotel was perfect for all of us. The pool area was perfectly clean, with internet facilities for the kids and very cold beer for us adults.
Thanassis and Katarina are perfect hosts, nothing too much trouble, even sorting out the Tv for the footy!!!
The rooms are in good order with kettle and crockery, sink and glasses. No cooking facilities but with a very good breakfast provided and great local restaurants why would you want to cook? ( Katarina even turned a blind eye to my husband bringing the breakfast to the room because me and the kids wanted to lay in ).
The village itself is picture perfect, very traditional and the locals are all very friendly.
The beach is about 15 minutes downhill ( there is a "kinder on your legs" slope to return uphill instead of the steep steps ). It is how-ever well worth the walk, the beach is as clean as it comes absolutely delightful, and if you feel you need a drink or lunch there are 2 bars and 2/3 restaurants available. The bars on the beach are pricey but go to the Olympia restaurant just off from the beach on the road to beach and geuros will be more than happy to serve you at a much more agreeable price ( and is cooking is fab too!!! )
I don't have anything bad to say about the resort and am already planning to go back to the Stamos next year.

Firstly I completely agree with the weight of opinion here, do not take ANY notice of the single bad review - I think they must be professional whingers and their comments are completely untrue as far as I'm concerned.
The Hotel Stamos is a charming, small, family-run hotel which is well-located (a very short walk to the town centre but far enough away so that you are not kept awake at night).
The staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful (for example, lending my partner a hairdryer when hers had broken).
The rooms are very, very clean and have all the facilities you would reasonably require for a comfortable holiday (including a refrigerator). In fact this is probably the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in whilst in Greece (and I've stayed in quite a few).
In conclusion, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

We went to the Stamos hotel at the biginnning of the season and loved every minute of it. The hotel and the staff were excellent. The room we stayed in was clean light and airy, the staff friendly, attentive and extremely welcoming. The village itself was lovely and a excellent example of greek life. There was plenty of restaurants to choose from at night and found several that we visited several times. I would deffinately suggest this hotel and the village to others as i could not fault my holiday there. I would say though that Afitos is more suited to couples or people wanting a quieter holiday rather than people looking for parties and clubs. Ten out of ten for sure from us!

A very nice hotel, in a beautiful location, close to the town centre but very quiet and calm. The rooms are cosy, air-conditioned, each one has a beautiful terrace with a great view. There is also a pool, very clean and well maintained, the kids love it, so do those who prefer not to move around too much. There is a supermarket just 20 m from the hotel, and one can arrange a nice homey dinner with fresh vegetables, feta cheese, and fruits. The restaurants near by are OK, the prices are normal, the sea food is always fresh. There are other interesting places to visit by car ot taxi within a distance of 10 km. The Afitos beach is a bit far - 15-20 min walk, down and uphill on the way back, which can be titing, but for people who appreciate a good work out, it's perfect. Best for swimmers. The sea is absolutely fantastic - emerald green, with rocks and lots of fish. We spent hours swimming, snorkeling and diving. Even in inclement weather the sea water is warm in this time of the year.

Myself and a group of friends stayed at the stamos hotel at the end of may.
during our stay our rooms were cleaned to an excellent standard daily, the staff were lovely and made our stay super!! although it was a long transfer we were made welcome and comfortable by staff. the pool area was fantastic and cleaned daily.
the village of Afitos was beautiful, each place we went to eat was lovely. The food was amazing. We have never stayed at a hotel with such friendly accomodating staff.
We would recomend Afitos and the hotel stamos to all our family and friends,
There is also no '100 yard walk' it is half that and purely because the hotel is situated away from the main road which ensures a peaceful and pleasant stay.

Please don’t be put off by the single bad review this hotel has! You would be making a big mistake and missing out on a fantastic stay at the Hotel Stamos. We stayed there for a week at the beginning of June and enjoyed the best holiday we’ve had so far. We read all of the entries in the entire guest book at the hotel which was for comments and suggestions as well as notes of thanks – and there was not one negative comment left by any visitor. The Hotel is superb and well run – with friendly and helpful staff that would go to any lengths to help you out. Our room was spotlessly cleaned daily and had everything we needed. The whole hotel is light and airy – not dingy and dark, with aircon in the room if you wanted it (although we found it cool enough with just the wooden shutter doors closed and the main doors open). The “100 yard walk to the hotel” is in fact less than 50 yards and takes about 30 seconds from where the coach drops you off. And the simple fact that the coach cannot get closer is testament to the fact that the hotel benefits from being on a quiet, narrow street and does not suffer much traffic. As for the disabled access – the hotel along with the rest of Athitos is built on a cliff and access to the hotel is via steps, and the beach via one of two roads – one steep and one mildly sloped but longer. The brochure and the internet site we booked through both mentioned this and we spotted the notices straight away and we weren’t even looking for it! The pool was amazing and the along with the surrounding pool area and bar were clean and had a lovely exotic feel with palm trees and flowers and small birds around. The village of Athitos is amazing and as close to the real Greece as you’re going to find without camping out in a Greek’s house! Even the Greeks from the closest main city of Thessaloniki holiday there.
We had a fantastic time at the Stamos hotel – and we would and have recommended it to all of our friends and family.

My husband and I stayed for a week at the Stamos Hotel in June. We had a fantastic time. The hotel was clean and tidy with a lovely pool with sun beds, and no one reserved them at some terrible hour in the morning, so you could also get one whatever time you got up.
The staff could not do enough for you, very friendly and caring.
I would certainly go again.

Don't believe any of the bad reviews for the Hotel Stamos. We stayed the first 2 weeks in August and found the staff friendly and the room cleaned to a standard never experienced in any Greek resort! I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a friendly and relaxed holiday.

The Stamos Hotel was as it was described in the brochure, small, very friendly, clean with a lovely pool, and shady terrace.
The owner and staff left you alone but if you wanted something they were there to help with a smile on their faces.
Very relaxing and quiet, if you want nightclubs and hustle bustle don’t go to this hotel / resort but if you want clean and relaxing you won’t be disappointed. Take insect repellent and use every evening.
The village is very old and pretty, well kept with a good choice of bars and restaurants.
There are several routes to the beach all including a steep climb, but it’s worth exploring the different areas of the long beach, some are better than others.

We booked our dream holiday with sc Airtours, and paid upwards of £1300-00 for what is the worst holiday we have ever had.
Contributory factors to this decision are initially (sc) Airtours who we paid our money to. secondly Stamos Hotel who provided with the worst Greek accommodation ever, and we have traveled extensively around the Greek islands for the last five years, so we do know what we are talking about.
Our holiday began with the usual 6 hour delay, and continued with a Hotel transfer to our hotel without the services of a rep. When we arrived at our location the coach driver dropped our luggage in the middle of the road, and grunted the word "Stamos", and pointed in a forward direction, no one told us at the time of booking that we would have to walk the last 100 yards with our luggage.
So we found our hotel which was accessible by three flights of steps, (once again no one made us aware of this )Disabled access, and limited mobility issues obviously don't exist in this part of the world. Even to Airtours.
So up to our room , dirty, dark (even with the light on all day). Toilet/shower didn't have either ventilation or windows, the shower drain was literally a hole in the floor with no grill. All in all very unsatisfactory even for Greek accommodation. So we voiced our concerns to the rep, inept would seem a good description of her, I could say more but it wouldn't get published.
So time for us to have our first night out, which was enjoyable merely because it was away from Stamos Hotel. But eventually we returned for a good night's sleep. But how wrong we were we didn't realise that nightmares could happen whilst you were awake, the nightmare that I refer to was the presence of a very large rat which on a table in the breakfast room , But unusually it didn't seem scared by my presence and it just sat there until I threw my water bottle at it,(which suggests that it was used to being around people). of course the owner came in to see what all the fuss was about and just shrugged his shoulders when we told him.
So the next day we insisted on a room on an upper floor. After being told that we wouldn't be able to change hotels. This room was dirtier than our previous one it even had what looked like dried blood on the shower curtain, all in all it went from bad to worse. But there was more to come .Both my wife and myself were covered by bites every morning that we woke up, even though we used endless amounts of repellant, and with the aircon constantly in use. We both came to the conclusion that they were some form of fleas or bed bugs that were in the bedclothes.
Finally time to go home, the transfer coach arrived with no markings as to who or where it was going, in fact it was the passengers who told us it was our coach. All in all a very bad experience, for which we paid dearly for, but I urge you to not be fooled by the brochure, or photographs this is definitely a horror story as far as we are concerned.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Stamos Hotel in Halkidiki and we are suffering from the holiday blues!
On arrival at the hotel we were impressed with the pool and bar area. They were exactly how they were pictured on the Stamos Hotel website. When we entered the room I must admit that we were a little shocked as they were not at all like the images posted on the website. They are basic. However, after a few hours the room felt like home. The room was spotless, the cleanest place i've ever stayed and the maid service was superb and daily! We had a fridge and lots of utensils which was good to say it was only bed and breakfast and not self catering.
The staff at the hotel were very friedly and very helpful. We hired a car (which is a must) and Thanaissis (owner) was only to pleased to recommened places to visit and empty bays and beaches. These trips were some of our best days out. Katarina was also very helpful and always went out of her way to make sure we had everything that we needed.
The breakfast was traditional Greek style, but there was plenty of it and it was all fresh.
Just be aware that the aircon is an extra and they charge 6 euros a day for it. Bare this in mind and this was an added extra that we had not budgeted for.
We had an action packed 2 weeks and would definitly recommened the scuba diving and snorkelling trip. Both were superb and well worth the money. It is ran by and English lady, Karla who is so patient and reasuring it made the whole experinece throughly enjoyable.
Afitos itself is also wonderful, the little centre is hussle and bussle in a non touristy way! There are so many lovely restaurnants and bars. We would recommend Chirstos. Very good food and great service. Try and find the cocktail bar just down from the chemist on the same side. You will never have had cocktails like it! Enjoy!
Hiring a car was great fun and we visited alot of th Kassandra pinisula and also travelled to the middle finger of Sinthonia. This was beautiful and had the most gorgeous secluded bays, well worth the hours drive. At Vourouvo on the middle finger you can hire a boat for 3 hours which was great fun. We dropped the anchor and dived off the boat, super!!!
T his is the one place I can say I will certainly be returing too. The hotel was great, the resort (if you can call it that) was perfect and the whole hoiday was the best ever. I would throughly recommened this Hotel and I am very envious of those who are still looking forward to going! Have fun!
