Everything said in prior reviews is correct but I just wanted to add extra weight to their messages with my opinion that the family who run the apartments and also the guests have contributed to an excellent holiday and hopefully give you confidence to try this place out! The location of the apartments is upwind of the airport but as said before this isn't a problem as they aren't directly above you and are weirdly interesting to watch come in and not that noisy. The Paleos has a lovely front garden which also doubles up as their outdoor restaurant. It is one of the few buildings that is actually 'finished' and is low key but not unattractive. The rooms are reasonable and you do have to pay about 30 euros a week for the air cons(standard for many places) which we didn't use. The shower was excellent. The swimming pool is a good size for the number of people staying there and there are enough beds to flake out on. The family all have their different roles but their warmth and friendship turn up in everything they do and are the strongest element in the Paleos' offer - it's a slow burning thing but you really grow to like them and value this above any impersonal/cold experience you can get from so many other hotels. The family are easy going and never make 'jobsworth' decisions that irritate. The hotel location is okay. It's a quick trip to Rhodes town, the airport and local supermarket. It is however on a sometimes busy road and about 500 yards from the beach which is pebbles and some sand. The pavements along the main road could keep a British/ American claims lawyer in work for the rest of their working career so take care. The island of Rhodes does everything else for you and altogether makes this a place to well worth considering.
Love Paleos Apartments-Rhodes

We are a family of 3 who have stayed at Paleos 3 times over the past 3 years and would not stay anywhere else when we visit Rhodes Island. The Paleos family are a wonderful example of Greek hospitality. They cannot do enough to make your holiday better. The food is excellent and all home cooked. We have always found the apartments to be clean. The apartments are situated a short walk away from Trianda where there is lots of shops and tavernas. Rhodes town is a short bus ride away and is worth a visit. We have met a lot of really nice people from all different nationalities who return to Paleos year after year. My daughter is 23 and always wants to return with us as she finds it to be relaxing but also entertaining. I would recommend Paleos to anyone of any age.
Not as we had hoped
from Shopaholic26
Plus Points: Spacious apartment, close to airport, run by very friendly helpful family, very reasonably priced Negative Points: Musty smelling apartment which may be due to the fact that the bathroom had no window or extractor fan, very dated furnishings, not as clean as we would like, very noisy busy road which resulted in loss of sleep and the inability to use the balcony, uncomfortable beds, the location was not good- the local beach was very dirty, rocky and generally unappealing, 15-20 minute walk to the town/village without pavements on very busy road Many holidaymakers return to stay here every year, could not understand this! Would recommend staying on other side of the island

We stayed at the Paleos Apartments Oct 07. The family who run the hotel could not be any more helpful or friendly. Maria helped us hire a car and if we had any queries regarding local attrractions -water park etc - she was straight on the phone to find the answers, Georgia (Mum) did most of the cooking - great breakfasts - Mike (Dad) seems to be the handyman although he likes to spend as much time chatting and socialising with the guests. The bar is run by Yannis (Son) in the evenings - he is a big football fan and will make sure you don't miss your favourite team playing while your away on the satelite tv in the bar. The hotel is next to a very busy road and even with the doors and windows closed it was quite intrusive. As it was near the end of the season when we stayed the complex did look a bit 'tired'. The snooker table was unusable and the table tennis table was discarded in the car park. Apart from one video game and a computer there wasn't anything for our teenage boys to do. The pool area is lovely - plenty of sun beds and the pool bar was attended by Maria all day for any drinks or snacks. Rhodes itself was not the picturesque place we imagined. The island seemed to be unfinished - half built buildings everywhere. Food in restaurants was not bad - the same menu in every food outlet unfortunately. A few greek dishes - burgers, pizzas, omelettes with chips!. Hire a car and get out and about was the answer.
Warm and freindly

From the Barrie family, hols end of June 07.. The Paleos is a great place to be to unwind, and a good location for a base to explore the rest of the island. The gravel (some sand) beach is 800 yds or so away and plenty of eccellent resturants to be found 1320yds to suite all budgets, the appartments also have a very good resturant ( home cooking of coarse), the snack bar at the pool is also very good, open about 7.30 am. Kitchen utensils are limited but you can manage to rustle up somthing. Air conditioning is a must when hot .The family who own the hotel are great and nothing is to much trouble,Maria will keep you right at the pool, and gannis will serve you well at the bar ,some sore heads can be found in the morning. There is a good cheap supermarket 5 minutes walkaway (champion) . You will get a good deal for a hired car see maria. The front of the hotel leads straight on to a busy road, so if you have young children be aware of the dangers, the owners try to keep an eye out,but cant be everywhere. When we were there the crack was really good, everybody was very freindly and all had a good time, if or when we go back to Rohdes we would definatly stay there again. A word of advice though DONT book for a transfer Bus or taxi to / from airport, its a rip off, you can get a taxi for about 8 - 10 euro each way. a lot cheaper , also the local bus service is very good and cheap for geting about ( bus stop 100yds or so from hotel.. If you stay here you WILL enjoy yourselves, just dont expect to much and you will be fine...

the best holidays in paleos apartments
from UkSonia
Just got back from a great holiday. The apartments were clean and cool with the air conditioning. Snack bar and restaurant supplied good fare with the occasional freebie thrown in from Georgia. Yiannis in the bar was a brilliant guy who was always friendly and up for a bit of crack. Nothing was ever a bother and he was also great with the kids allowing them free internet access on his lap top. By the pool was a relaxing yet fun experience with enough sun beds that there was no early rise to put out the towels. The great family atmosphere around the pool was generated by all the holidaymakers so thanks to you all. Maria, the babe who ran the pool snack bar and office was also a great character who couldn't do enough for you. She saved us around £25 on the hire of a car for 3 days. Hiring a car is a must and touring the island is highly recommended. Everyone at the Paleos Apartments helped in their own way to make this holiday a great success and should be praised for their efforts. Thank you all, we'll be back
very good

The best holidays we have in Paleos Apts.My friend and I stayed at the Paleos Apartments in July 2005. We had a most enjoyable stay. The apartments are set in beautiful surroundings and are clean and spacious and near to the beach. The owners are very friendly particularly Georgina to whom nothing is too much trouble. She truly is a lovely lady, Yannis, the son who runs the bar at night is also very helpful and friendly. My only complaint would be that there is no entertainment, which is a shame, because the settings of these apartments is just beautiful.
Dangerous road v family hotel
from Bronwenn
On arrival at the Paleos Apartments, I was somewhat distracted from the pretty hotel and the beautiful gardens by the two lane race track (sorry, very busy road) at the front of the hotel. If you are traveling with a toddler (as we were), I would not recommend the Paleos as the road is a death trap. As there was a direct route from the pool to the front of the hotel, it would have been easy for a child to run out. There was also swings in the front of the hotel which were yards from the road and had my heart in my mouth. The family who ran the hotel were obviously concerned about the road and often told children to stop running or come back when they were at the front. We were there for two weeks and got clean towels only twice and sheets once. The apartments were maintained to a high standard and were very clean although the public toilets were a bit suspect (although better than most loos in restaurants!). That said, the rooms were so accessible that it was easier to use them than the public loos. Not much in the way of cooking facilities (two pans, two rings and a collander). On the positive side, the family who ran the hotel were great. Thanks to Maria for her breakfasts, lunch, drinks, paddling pool and milkshakes and for the attention (and doughnuts) she gave to the little-un. Special thanks to Yiannis for making a teenage girls holiday romance special with the sparklers, low lighting and a rendition of Whitney Houston 'I will always love you'. He was fantastic and seemed to work 20 hours a day! An evening of entertainment would have been welcome as there was none at all for the two weeks and the youngsters did get a bit stir crazy at night. Thanks to Georgina for her fantastic cooking and her ready smile. The family are what made the holiday special and if you have older children then I would recommend it without hesitation. As has been stated there's loads of sun beds so dawn towel raids aren't necessary. The planes do fly quite low by the hotel but it's entertaining to watch and I didn't hear them at all at night as the double glazing is so good. The air con was great but is only in the bedroom so if you're sleeping in the main room, it can get a bit warm. It's not that far from town and there is a back route to avoid the busy road. Be careful after dark though as the back route is badly lit but can be a laugh with a torch! Watch out for the Dobermans! The best meals we had were at the Paleos Apartments and the House Cafe which is on the seafront. The other families at the hotel were great - some on their tenth visit to the Paleos which says a lot. A very friendly, family orientated bunch of people who, along with Maria, Yiannis, Georgina and the rest of the family, made the holiday special. Returned home two days ago and wish I was back there!
