This is an excellent hotel/apartment in a great location. It is literally 20 metres from the beach with a first class pool as well if you can't face travelling that far.

Staff are really friendly and all speak first class English. Nearby highly recommended restaurants include Esperos and, if you turn right outside the hotel and travel 2000 metres (a bus can take you there), you come to Ampelis, a great restaurant in a vineyard that makes its own delicious wine.

It's about 800 metres to Tingaki town centre where excellent bars include Kivotos with Theo, Spiros and Billy being great hosts. We've been going there for past 10 years and now our daughters go back there with their own boyfriends.

Its only drawback is the size of the rooms. They are small and basic - but spotlessly clean. All-inclusives in the Caribbean have spoilt us! Highly, highly recommended though.

Akti Dimmys – It’s so good, they keep coming back!

We’ve just returned from a fantastic two weeks holiday at Akti Dimmys, Tigaki.

We’re a family of four, with two children aged 7 and 13 yrs, and this was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we’ve had.

Akti Dimmys is an ideal base for families, groups or couples to explore Kos and is within easy walking distance to the main centre of Tigaki where there are some great restaurants and good souvenir shopping. There is a small but well stocked “supermarket” 40 metres away for bottled water and other provisions.

Akti Dimmys has a good swimming pool with a shallow pool for young children. 20 metres away across the road is a lovely narrow sandy beach, with spectacular views of the Turkish coastline which is only 8 miles away.

The apartments are very compact but comfortable and the bedding and towels were changed every day, bar Sunday. Once you’d mastered the art of the small shower area, and become accustomed to the air conditioning (€30 for the two weeks) the rest was a breeze.

The staff at the hotel were exceptionally hospitable and friendly; in particular Christos and Athena who both made everyone’s holiday with their kindness and good humour.

The most resounding endorsement of Akti Dimmys is the many people who return year after year, often with their friends and neighbours, because they enjoy it so much! Akti Dimmys is very much in demand, so the message is, “book quick to avoid disappointment!”

Just got back from Tingaki, and had a great time.

I have been to Greece 6 times and to Tingaki 3 (this being my 4th) and I can say that the apartments are basic and clean (similar too what I have stayed in before)

If you want air con (and if you go in July/August I suggest you do)then you have to pay approx 70 euros for 2 weeks.

The staff are cheerful and everyone spoke English apart from the chef and they all go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing time.

The snack bar is clean and their burgers are to die for, a varied menu is on offer with Greek and English food.

The pool is adequate and is very welcome after a hard days sunbathing and the sea is literally across the road.

Also the pool toilet and showers are clean and very handy if you don't want to pay 30 euros to keep your room on, you can get showered and changed there.

Be careful if you hire a scooter or quad from the guy next door as I felt that he ripped us off, however it is a good way to see the island.

Restaurants are littered along the sea front with Esperos being good value for money, Meni is very nice but be aware it may take you a while to be served and also get the bill. Be aware of Dana and O'neros as I felt that they were ignorant and not very customer focused.

Trips to go on... Paradise beach is a must; Kos town is great especially if you go to the old town. Turkey (Bodrum) is interesting if you have never been before... also the sunset at Zia is very nice. But as I said earlier the best way to see the island is by quad. We hired them for 2 days and found the driving easy going.

All in all a very relaxing holiday, would I go again, no, but that has been my 4th time to Kos and I think I have seen all I want to see.

Would I recommend, then I would say yes.

This was my first visit to any...

This was my first visit to any of the Greek Islands, and if this holiday was anything to go by it will be my last! I am 20 yrs old and have been on loads of holidays and this holidays was my worst so far!

I think the Tour operators rating was a tad high for this hotel. It was really basic and quite expensive. The room was clean but the most basic I have ever stayed in.

The rooms are a bit on the small side and that was with only 2 of us in a 3 person studio. The cooking facilities are really bad too; there was only 2 cooking rings and a fridge...nothing more, no kettle...nothing!

I would also recommend you iron everything in your case before you go as there is no ironing facilities in the hotel. If you expect air con or a safety deposit box in your hotel room...think again unless you are willing to pay more money you will have no air con and the safety box also costs more again and it is placed in the bar area.

The toilet was the smallest I have ever seen, there is only a shower toilet and wash sink, no shower curtains though so when you do have a shower the place gets soaked, dangerous though as tiled floor becomes really really slippy so take care!

The pool area looked bigger in pictures but I didn’t mind as I had the pool to myself nearly every day because the place was dead! It was nice n clean by the pool and right across the street from the beach.

The beach wasn't up to much; I’ve seen much nicer beaches in other places. If you wish to spend a day at the beach then you have to pay for your sun loungers even though they belong to your hotel, another money making scheme!

There’s not much to do at the pool or at the beach, this type of resort would suit you if you wanted to go and do nothing...and I mean NOTHING for a week.

Eating out wasn’t that great either. At Akti Dimmys you can have a snack during the day (poor selection of food though) but it’s not great for a meal at night. In fact during my time there I did not see anyone have a meal at night in the hotel.

You are a fair distance from the nearest restaurants but it is within walking distance. There’s not a great selection of bars and certainly no nightclubs! In fact nightlife is pretty dead in Tingaki. At the Akti Dimmys the nightlife is much the same - dead.

The hotel staff did not speak much English at all apart from a select few, although you won’t get any conversations from them unless you are a regular at Akti Dimmys. Let’s just say they have their favourite guests and if you are a first timer to Akti Dimmys you won’t be one of them.

Please be aware that if you are leaving on a night time flight like my partner and I you will have to leave your room by 12 noon, or pay yet again more money to have the room till 8pm.

Not one member of staff informed us about the time we had to leave the room and at 11.15am another guest told us we had to be out at 12, so that left us to pack leave, out some clothes, shower etc all in 45mins, I was not amused as we then had to sit about for another 12hrs until we got picked up at midnight!

All in all I would not recommend this Hotel/resort to anyone. It was relaxing but really really boring. Trust me, go somewhere else.

This was my first visit to Greece and my last.

The apartment was clean, the cooking facilities were very basic with no kettle. Also you had no iron and you have to buy your own toilet paper.

Further negatives were there was no form of entertainment what so ever, no karaoke quiz, comedian’s, pool games anything.

A few good points were the beach was right across the street but they charge you 5 Euros to use the beds and the hotels pool was nice.

Their choices of food were grim. The beach wasn’t maintained enough also they have no child facilities at all apart from a bathroom size pool.

And another thing I noticed was the hotel staff apart from 2 people spoke very little English and the ones who could were interacting with regulars to the hotel, and seemed to shun first time visitors.

Also if you come from Scotland your flight is last to leave you will probably be picked up at midnight but you get chucked out your room at mid-day.

Brilliant holiday. The apartments are spotlessly clean and cleaned every day (except Sun) with clean towels etc every other day.

Cooking facilities basic and no kettle so if that is an issue to you, take one with you. It didn't bother me as self catering to me, means picking something from a menu.

The staff are all friendly and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Snack bar food is very good and reasonably priced. The bar stays open until the last person goes to bed but is only really noisy on karaoke night, (Sat).

The pool is very clean with a separate children’s area and there are toilets which are also very clean.

The beach is literally across the road and is also kept beautifully clean.

Loads of lovely places to eat, our favourites being, Esperos, Scala, Katras and Dana.

I would certainly go back to Akti Dimmys at the drop of a hat.

This was our 1st time on a Greek Island and thanks to the great welcome we received, it won't be the last.

Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the staff were marvellous, the food great. We (my 13 year old son) and I walked into Tingaki a couple of evenings to eat and the restaurants were all good value.

The only downside? The pot they provided to boil water took ages. I'd advise buying a travel kettle if you don't have one.

A superb location. The apartments are small and very basic but very clean. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The cocktail bar is open until last person drops. Only noisy on the karaoke night which is not everybody's cup of tea. A great swimming pool if you need it but the beach is right opposite. You can go a long way out in the sea and not get out of your depth, but not a lot to see if you intend to snorkel.

If you get hungry while sunbathing the doughnut man comes round regularly as does the fresh fruit man, and if you're still not relaxed you can get a very thorough massage! The island is relatively small and best seen under your own steam. We hired a buggy which was great fun and good for the sun tan. Recommend purchasing a map and getting staff at the hotel to mark places to visit. Kos town is best visited on the local bus as it's not easy to find your way around, but well worth the visit, but bear in mind the castle is closed on Mondays.

Can also recommend horse riding on the beach in the evening. Superb! Watch out for the midges though as they are really nasty and persistent. The hotel has a couple of good tavernas close by or a slightly longer stroll takes you to the main village where you can eat somewhere different every night of the week (although the menu probably won't change that much). All serve good food, but ashamed to admit the best meal was from the Chinese Restaurant!

We thought Tingaki had one of the best beaches and best location on the whole island. Trips are available to go scuba diving, Nisyros to see the volcano (it stinks) and trips to Turkey. Only down side was night flights to and from Bristol!

Excellent location to the beach....

Excellent location to the beach. Very friendly staff and the atmosphere was good. Accomodation was clean but basic. Pool area was clean and was good for children.

It was a nice idea to have someone from the hotel to come on to the beach to ask you if you would like anything from the bar. Didn’t have to lift a finger! The resort is lovely and has different bars/restaurants for everyone. I recommend Scala restaurant for its friendly staff and exceptional Greek cuisine. Never eaten as well!

The bars further into the resort are fairly lively and the prices are cheap. Loved it so much that I’ve booked for next June :)

Akti Dimmys was an idea place for a quiet holiday. The accommodation was basic but very clean and well decorated. The towels were changed every other day, and there was always hot water.

The catering facilities were minimal, 2 rings + toaster, sink and fridge, but adequate as we ate out every evening and some mornings. The breakfast from the snack bar was good, as were the lunches, and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A safety deposit box was available in reception for 15 euros/week, and air conditioning was available, but we did not need it in May. Travellers cheques can also be cashed at reception.

There were plenty of sun beds round the pool and you were just across the road from the sandy beach.

We had a really relaxing time there and I would certainly go back again.
