Agia Efimia is the perfect ideal...

Jun 2008, Miss AC Collins

Agia Efimia is the perfect ideal place for a quiet family holiday. The staff at Makis Studios are wonderful especially the bar man he is a laugh. Our hotel room was up to perfection it was right at the top of the apartment block with an absoulutly fantastic view of the town Agia Efimia the mountains and the near by island Thaki. The town Agia Efimia its self was amazing. Its only a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel it has everything you need including restaurants , a mini super market ,typical torist souviner shops, also lovely geek shops aswell and a beach not so fair away and a beautiful harbour where you can rent a Yellow boat for the day.Me and my kids enjoyed this hotel and holiday so much we will come back again anytime.I seriously recommed this hotel.

Agia Efimia is a lovely place. Very quiet (apart from the mopeds!) and a great place to be especially at night when the whole harbour comes alive.
Makis studios rooms were not like the pictures! The brochure said that there were only 10 apartments, this is wrong, that’s how many Makis lets out to Olympic. There are others there which he lets out locally. The rooms were run down and need updating. Our bathroom door was very temperamental, tiles hanging off in the bathroom and sockets that had seen better days!
The rooms were kept clean though with fresh towels twice a week (although very starchy).
The pool bar is great with a fabulous view.
Overall the holiday was great apart from our room.

Agia Efimia is a beautiful, peaceful resort. The beach is small and pebbly but there are loads of other beaches on the island.
Makis Apts. were brilliant! The food is fantastic and the staff extremely friendly. Only downside no parasols at the pool. we bought one in the town for 6 euros and used it at the pool.
The walk from Makis down to the town is a 10 minute stroll and there are plenty bars and restaurants.

We have just returned from The Makis Studios in Skala and we had a fantastic time!
The apartments are very clean and basic. The staff at the pool bar and the maids were very helpful and polite!
The room was cleaned 6 mornings out of the seven and always to a high standard.
The pool was a little noisy at times due to children screaming but on the whole it was okay.
The resort was fantastic and we would love to go back again, just enough there to see and do without the real hustle and bustle of some resorts. The Pines restaurant was our favourite, the food was second to none and not over priced either. The sunbeds at the beach were reasonably priced at 6 Euros for 2 beds and a parasol.
All in all we will definitely be going back and we would stay at The Makis apartments as they are centrally placed for the main strip and a short walk to the beach!

Jul 2007, Mrs C Wilson

My sis in law arrived in Ag Efimia in the midst of a heat wave (40 plus!) and we were not disappointed. Having stopped at Maki's studios for lunch a few years ago, I was aware of how quiet the resort was and how good the food was at our chosen accommodation.
The pool bar was very relaxed with no loud intrusive music; the only bugbear was the lack of parasols if you wanted to stay out at the hottest part of the day though the pool bar itself is covered with plenty of chairs.
Our room which we nicknamed the Wendy house was clean and comfortable and our maid was lovely she had a dance with us on Greek night which they have once weekly.
All the staff at Maki's were friendly and could not do enough for us, especially Manolis who is hilarious and is a mean dancer!
The short and pleasant walk down to the harbour brings you to a handful of tavernas. I can highly recommend To Perasma were the food is lovely and the welcome typically Greek and warm and Poseidon a fish taverna were the bream is scrummy.
There is a nice little Kafenion called Flisvos were we had a nice Ag Efimia cocktail watching the pleasure boats coming in after a leisurely days sailing around the Ionian, there are some beauties mooring each night and the occasional chartered or privately owned yacht sitting outside the shallows. It’s very low key and perfect for a week of unwinding, a must for the independent traveller it’s only a short drive into Sami to go over to Ithaca which is worth a blimp.
If you like to chill out and really get away from it all Maki's and AE is the place to do it, if you like the beach you need not apply. The sea is crystal clear and the small beaches are pebbled but the snorkelling is excellent I believe, all the sandy beaches are on the southwest coast of Kefalonia but I never felt at all robbed, because I had one of the best weeks in years!

My husband and I have just returned from 2 weeks at the Makis Hotel in Skala, Kefalonia.
This was our 3rd visit but our first time actually staying at the Makis. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and extremely nice, the bar food was exceptional.
The location of this hotel could not be better especially for anyone who is averse to walking up and down hills!
We would definitely recommend both this hotel and wonderful Kefalonia to anyone. We fell in love with the island on our first visit which was our honeymoon and are now planning another week at the beginning of October.

Makis Apartments were just what we...

May 2007, Ms Lc Cordingley

Makis Apartments were just what we were looking for. They had a great pool and wasn't too commercialised or rowdy.
Our apartment balcony over looked the pool and the views of the sea were spectacular.
The rooms were clean and tidy. Also very spacious.
There is a restaurant downstairs which made excellent food and at night it never got too noisy.
The only downside was the 10 minute walk to all the shops and tavernas and that there was hardly a beach as it was pebble and too shallow for swimming.
So it was just as well that there was a gorgeous pool.
I would definitely come here again in the future.

Agia Efimia is our favourite place!...

Agia Efimia is our favourite place! Beautiful harbour and outstanding views. Wonderful place to walk around - unspoilt - friendly.
No beach - a plus for us! Harbour front tavernas are a bit impersonal but just off the main drag and you'll be sure of a personal welcome.
Makis is great - get an apartment "at the back" as they go up the hill and you'll get a great view.
Every one is friendly and to swim in the evening in the pool with the swallows is unbelievable.

We were looking for a nice and tranquil resort. We found the latter but not the former. Agia Efimia must have one of the worst beaches ever small, dirty and pebbly and swimming was a near impossibility. The Tavernas were below par and they did not seem interested in us for some unknown reason as we were British (the first time this has ever happened to us in Greece). The only consolation was the mountain views over to Ithica. The Makis Studios were we staying were fine and they had a swimming pool, which was a godsend in view of the “Non Beach”. Air conditioning was available at an additional charged and it was certainly needed in August.
