Aug 2006, D Ewens

We have just returned from Cala D’Or Puerto del Sol apartments, I have to say that this was a very disappointing holiday indeed, the food most of the time was disgusting, inedible; my 14 year old son could not eat a single thing in the restaurant except twice he had chips and bread rolls.
The catering appeared to be more geared towards the Germans, which there were many. there was absolutely no entertainment for teenagers, except 3 pool tables on the whole complex, the swimming pool was ok if you don’t mind getting bombarded with balls and inflatable lilos, there were 2 other pools available but there were no bar facilities unless you wanted to pay for them at the restaurant bar, which was the only place that you could sit and enjoy the marina, (If you stood up).
The apartment itself was quite spacious and was cleaned regularly. the beaches are quite small and the town of Cala D’Or is quite a walk, better to take a taxi only 5 euros, we are not skint flints but we paid for an all inclusive holiday which was not cheap but we had to eat out most of the time and travel if we wanted any form of entertainment, although we did meet some lovely people who all felt the same.
The marina was very nice definitely for the jet set of the med and very expensive to eat there, the complex is rated at 3 star but should be downgraded to 2 star if only for the poor food and lack of entertainment. Definitely will not be returning in the future.

Aug 2006, Mrs L Snowden

When we got to the apartments our room was too small I complained and they moved us to a much nicer apartment overlooking the marina.
Although we was all inclusive we ate out a lot of the nights due to food being horrid also the restaurant was crowded and the tables left for ages messy. I think they were short staffed. We had 2 young children with us 6 years and 7 years our transfer from Palma airport to our apartments took almost 5 hours the driver didn’t know were he was going got lost this is early hours of the morning.
The pool area was untidy I think they only cleaned it the once and that was because someone complained. The children however enjoyed the pool all week and the entertainment for the children was good the people are very friendly and they loved the kids club the food bar in the restaurant wasn’t big enough people were queuing. We went into Cala D’Or at night time that was fab lovely places to eat and only 5 euros.
Churchill’s bar near marina is a nice place. Also smugglers inn was good, however don’t go to Bon Vida near Churchill’s service terrible waited 2 hours for a meal.

Jul 2006, Mrs A Foster

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Puerto Del Sol Hotel (2 Adults and 2 Children aged 2 and 4) and have to say we had a brilliant time. The apartments were very clean and were cleaned every other day and given fresh towels.
The food was good and we never had a problem finding something that we all enjoyed to eat. The evening entertainment was very good fun especially for the younger children. The entertainers worked very hard. I can see why perhaps older children would not have so much to do, however for a family with young children this was an ideal place to go.
The only downside was the sun beds. People got up very early in the morning to put towels on and rarely used them. Only a slight annoyance though.

Jul 2006, Mrs V Koschewoj

We arrived at the Puerto Del Sol on 5th July for 2 weeks. There were 4 adults and 4 children in our party ranging from 13yrs down to 3yrs and I must say we had a brilliant time here.
We stayed on an all inclusive deal and even though I read reports before we went which weren't that good I was very much surprised that people could knock the complex.
The apartments were very big with air-con and very clean. The food was nice not a huge choice at some meal times but it was all edible we had no complaints at all with it.
The entertainments team Flip, Matt and Marjon were fab with the kids during the day and they worked really hard in the show bar in the evenings the kids had a ball.
All around the complex was clean plenty of bins provided (though some people didn't know how to use them and left mess and had the cheek to moan about it). The only thing we had to watch for was sometimes by the main pool it could sometimes be slippery and told the kids not to run when the floor was wet but it wasn't a major problem. The staff were very friendly especially in reception and the show bar. We would definitely go back to the Puerto Del Sol again.

Jul 2006, Mr J Parkhouse

My wife and I and our 3 (6, 5, 3) children enjoyed the holiday very much. As already stated I think this hotel is geared for couples with young children. The entertainment day and night was superb and the food was nice.
My only reservation was that the rooms are superb but if you have three children of older age then sleeping the final person is a problem. We asked for another bed as our youngest does not sleep in a cot but this then made the apartment a squeeze.
As we only used the apartment to sleep this was a small inconvenience and i would go back anytime.

Jul 2006, Mr W McDowell

We have been back two weeks now from our stay at the Puerto del sol hotel in Cala D’Or and would highly recommend it to families with children. Food was of a good standard and choice was very good, also we found the apartments clean and very spacious.
But our most pleasing part of our holiday was the children’s entertainment team. Matt' gideon and baukje who were excellent with the children during the morning 'afternoon and also in the evening at the club below the hotel, where there was a disco for an hour every night for the children and not to be left out they also involved the adults in games and other activities every day and night.
Over all we found the staff very friendly and helpful and our holiday good value for money.

Jun 2006, Ms L A Maddy

Had an excellent holiday at a brilliant price booked through Teletext (Medinland). The large apartment which was bright and clean also had a fridge, cooker and microwave.
Food and drink was fine, could have been a little more choice but it all tasted good. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The complex has three pools which were lovely and the surrounding gardens are very pretty. The nightclub is excellent for children ( I would say the whole complex is more suited to couples with children).
The Marina that the complex overlooks is beautiful and we had lovely walks round it most evenings.
Please ignore the very offensive comment placed by Mr. Moore regarding the type of people staying there, what a snob he must be. I found all the people very nice and respectable and I think he must just be jealous that most of the people that were all inclusive got an excellent deal from Medinland and he probably paid twice the price to stay Self catering.
We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Jun 2006, Mr D Gould

Just came back from an excellent holiday at this resort. My wife and I and our three children aged 13, 10 and 5 had a fantastic time. Food was of a good standard some days there was not much choice but it was overall good. Apartments were of an excellent standard spacious and air conditioned.
The complex was very clean and tidy. Regarding the last review not everyone was pot bellied shaven heads and full of piercing we met a lovely family from Newcastle and became very good friends and believe me we do not have piercing all over our bodies lol. As for inflatables dominating the pool it is a family complex! But we found a quite pool next to the dining room which was not as busy as the pool by the snack bar. Entertainment was great for the kids plenty for them all to do.
Credit to Matt, Gideon and Baukje because having these entertainers meant my wife and i had time to relax and enjoy the holiday as well, knowing the kids were equally having a great time. Would highly recommend anyone to visit this great all inclusive family complex!
Only downfall of the holiday was no snacks were available after 8:30pm but plenty of shops to buy snacks from.

Jun 2006, Mr D J Moores

Unfortunately these apartments have gone down-market. This was our 4th year at these apartments, so you can tell we have enjoyed going there over the years. No longer though. Firstly the good news: our apartment was excellent- newly refurbished, with air-con and satellite TV included. Many facilities have been updated and improved.
Unfortunately the complex is now dominated by the 'all-inclusive' crowd and this has had a noticeably negative effect. The visitors are now mainly of the shaven-headed, tattooed, baseball-capped and pot-bellied type, with wives with multiple body-piercing and either bleach-blond or multi-coloured hair. You can't get a sun-bed after 9am as they've all been 'reserved', the pools are awash with inflatables.
You used to be able to get decent meals at the pool-bar at lunchtime. Now it's inclusive only, and that means burgers, hot-dogs, chips and the weekly special of pizza-slices! And halves of lager, tea in paper-cups and tubs of ice-cream! Boy how this place has dumbed-down!

May 2006, Miss HJM Dwyer

This was my first holiday abroad, I went with my twin and my mammy.
Although it was end of season there were still enough people to make it welcoming and we were just in time for all the nightclubs to be closing down. These were themed nights both in and out of town we had a brilliant time and I would definitely go back again. The apartments were big enough for three adults and I ended up with three balcony's just amazing views over the marina. You did have to walk a way to get into the town but you can catch the train bus hourly from the hotel for 3 euro return.
The hotel entertainment was hilarious. It was very child orientated but this didn’t put me off in the evening we played a few games of bingo won a cocktails and a bottle of champers (cheap but free). The swimming pools were well lit and very clean. It was cheap enough to rent the television for the week and I was able to plug my PS2 into it. There is a good little English bar called Churchill’s right next to the hotel they put on X Factor instead of football which was nice.
Another English bar called Rumours was about 20min walk brilliant staff and nice customers we won a bottle of martini in there. Overall I had a brilliant holiday and I would stay there again.

Great for families, with children 10 and under not much for yhe older children to do.
Didn’t have much entertainment for the adults of an evening unless you walked into the town which we found very quiet. 8 of us went including my 14 year old and my 9 year old who enjoyed it but would of liked to be near a water park or theme park to visit to give them a change.
The only complaint I have with Medinland was that when we got to check in to go they hadn’t put us on the system so that took us 45mins then on our way home on departure about 300 people where kept waiting as the airline said they hadn’t heard of the company before and the flight was for First Choice.
An hour later it was sorted and we could then go through to the aircraft.

May 2006, Miss Kl Best

The hotel was lovely and clean. The pool areas were very nice. The snack bar staff were very friendly. The food was a bit poor at times in the restaurant, not really much choice and poor labeling.
The accommodation was very spacious, the cleaners work daily apart from Thursday and Saturday but only visited us twice on our week long stay. The show bar was a great place for my two year old, who loved the mini-disco and the songs they played. He his still dancing to the songs and we have been back two weeks. Our only disappointment is we never asked if you could buy the CD.
The marina was a beautiful place, two minutes from the hotel. It was a great holiday for us, and I would recommend it to anyone with a young family or a couple after a relaxing holiday.
