Just got back last night from a week...
5 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr M B

Just got back last night from a week at the Puerto del Sol apartments. We booked independently and were not all inclusive as was everybody else.
We had a nice apartment that overlooked the marina which was beautiful. There were serious problems with the bathroom drainage.
There were strong smells of urine around the toilet and sewage smells generally in the bathroom. The whole complex was generally in need of a refurbishment. The main pool area was ok when everybody had gone back to their apartments at the end of the day but during the day it was very cramped. There was a lot of litter; people just left their dirty cups and plates lying around.
The main pool itself was nice with a smaller kiddie pool adjacent. The show bar where the mini disco and adult entertainment was is in a basement room underneath the main reception building. We only went once for about half an hour as it was very smoky and there were no seats. It would have been much better if the entertainment had been outdoors.
The location next to the marina was great as lots of really nice restaurants were less than 100m away.
10/10 for location but 5/10 for everything else.

Just come back from these apartments....
8 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr S Knight

Just come back from these apartments. Ignore the reports, the place is fine. We paid £1200 all inclusive for a family of five, and after reading some of the reports about Puerto Del Sol apts, we were fearing the worst.
However, it was great. The food was fine with several dishes each day to choose from. The snack bar served hot dogs, chips, burgers, sandwiches, salads all day long.
There was entertainment all day & all evening if you wanted it. Cala D'or & Cala Longa are beautiful quiet resorts with some lovely bars & restaurants & geared towards families.
Puerto Del Sol apts are not 5 star luxury, but does not advertise itself as such. It is certainly good value for money.

My husband and I went for a week all...
8 / 10
May 2007, Mrs F Martin

My husband and I went for a week all inclusive at this hotel and arrived back on Friday (18th May).
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed ourselves. As others have commented; the food wasn't fantastic but there was always something you could find to eat and at the end of the day, it is only a 3*.
The entertainment was typical cheesy-holiday style but enjoyable nonetheless. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean.
Our towels were only changed 3 times during our stay and our beds changed once but that didn't bother us, although I know that others did complain.
I would recommend that you ask for a marina view though as it really is lovely.
All in all, a very enjoyable holiday.

Just returned back from Majorca...

May 2007, Mr M Dean

Just returned back from Majorca yesterday. Very nice hotel nice and clean.
Our room was very nice it was cleaned every day beds changed every other day.
All the staff was very friendly and very helpful.
The evening entertainment was excellent for the kids as my 13 year old daughter came with us, and after the kids entertainment was over there was some fun for the adults.
The entertainments team were very, good they really tried and always got a good result well done to them. The snack bar was excellent.
The only downside was the food, not much choice but it was ok. It is only a 3 star after all but we really enjoyed ourselves.

I arrived back from Majorca...
9 / 10
May 2007, Miss R Meeks

I arrived back from Majorca yesterday.
My partner and I paid £250 pp to stay at the above hotel for 7 nights. We had a fantastic time! The staff were amazing and very friendly, the bar staff were always smiling and some nights got up on stage and joined in with the entertainment team.
The rooms were clean and even though we were all inclusive we had a fridge, toaster, kettle and hob which came in handy. Our room was cleaned every other day and the hotel itself was clean and well maintained.
The food was not fantastic and we eat out once or twice, but all in all we saved a fortune by taking advantage of the snacks (hot dogs, beef burgers and salads) and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) on offer.
We also meet some great people on this holiday and think that they contributed to the fantastic time we had (Carol & Jim, Michelle & Simon). We would definitely go back and would advise people to remember that this is 3 * hotel and not a 5*.
If you can get the chance pop in to Churchill’s and El tio Johns along the Marina.

We found the hotel area and rooms...
5 / 10
Jan 2007, Mrs L Walsh

We found the hotel area and rooms were very clean and tidy. The reception staff were great, very helpful, the restaurant and snack bar staff were rude most of the time.

The pools were great for children of all ages, however for an 11 year old that was all the entertainment there was besides the arcade games and pool table.

The food was edible if you were starving (luke warm every time we went in to the restaurant, and the selection of food was not great).
We had some lovely meals out in the town (John Wayne) all you could eat ribs and the steaks were amazing and the local English restaurant Churchill’s was fabulous.
Apart from the food we had a great time, mainly due to the weather, the views of the marina, the people we met and the all inclusive bar.

My partner and our family came here...
5 / 10
Jan 2007, Mr B Jones

My partner and our family came here in the half term break of October 2006.
The day we arrived our first impressions were what a lovely hotel because of the location on the marina. After a couple of days we were glad we chose self catering as we had heard a few bad reports about the food.
Found the resort itself really nice but even though our hotel was on the marina, we were actually a good distance from any shops or supermarkets and we didn’t have a car.
We are also glad that we came in October and not in July or August as the pool area was a bit cramped looking.
We walked into Cala Dor a couple of nights and a lot of businesses had closed up for the season. Found a lovely place to eat in Grill World. On most other occasions we went to Cala Egos which is a lot smaller but a lot better we all thought.
We were recommended to eat by 3 different lots of people at the Irish Bistro and we were not disappointed. Family friendly, huge portions and the best food we found on the resort. And the Guinness was the best around also. Wish I could take the chef home.
Overall the holiday was good but would stay in a hotel in Cala Egos next time.

I stayed at the Puerto Del Sol...
7 / 10
Oct 2006, Miss C J Holden

I stayed at the Puerto Del Sol apartments for 10 days all inclusive with my two teenage daughters. Our main disappointment was the restaurant which did not appear to be able to cope with the amount of people passing through at any one time. The standard of food at breakfast was very good but service was very poor as they kept running out of food. Lunches were ok, but little choice at dinner time especially at the later sittings and chips were on the menu every single day!
Entertainment was excellent for children under 10 but no other entertainment on offer
The main pool area was cramped even out of season and there were no all inclusive beach towels or hair dryers in the rooms as stated in the brochure.
However on the whole we had a good relaxing holiday, mainly due to the excellent weather for the time of year. The marina and Cala D'Or itself are beautiful.

The hotel is quite nice and very...
5 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs V Shaw

The hotel is quite nice and very clean. Pools are small and bar staff are quite rude towards guests. Food is not very good and choice is limited. We kept all our valuables locked away in our cases as we heard that some peoples flats were broken into, but we did not have a problem.
However we were all inclusive and we did not pay a lot of money so it was well worth it. We ate a few times out but that was to see culture and some entertainment. The reception staff are very pleasant, and they are always happy to help if they can.
it is about 20 min walk to the shops but if you enjoy walking then its not bad, especially walking back to the hotel, as its down hill.
The beaches are very small but plenty of them and really nice. Watch out there are jelly fish in the water.
If you want good entertainment visit the Hollywood bar. (5 euros in taxi)

My husband & I booked this holiday in...
10 / 10
Oct 2006, chops1961

My husband & I booked this holiday in May 2006, we then read the reviews, I wish I hadn't as at the time the reviews were mainly negative, so we stopped reading them.
Approaching our holiday I wasn't excited at all, thanks to the reviews! I was very apprehensive and very worried, even Medinland had some bad reviews, and I was thinking gawd what have we done here?
Take no notice of the reviews, it is only 3* so what do you expect 5*? Be realistic here!
The bus transfer got us to our apartment in an hour, we were greeted by a smiley and warm welcome, the apartment was clean, not the Ritz but we knew that before we arrived, we only used it as base anyway! Our apartment overlooked one of the pools, and I saw the pool area being cleaned twice a day, not as some has said, the pool was spotless each time we went there, yes during the day we would see rubbish from drinks/food etc but who created the rubbish in the first place? As for the food, again not 3* but the variety overall was excellent, the dining area very clean, the floor well you could have ate off it! There was salads/chips/potatoes/meat something for everyone, good choice of deserts. Breakfast was the best, apart from waiting to use the toaster thingy, yet again some people are greedy aren’t they? I wanted 2 rounds of toast and they wanted 22! Children should be banned from getting their food! I got trod on and head butted more than once, children would miss their plates and eggs/sausages would spill on the floor! They would walk away and not pick it up! They would also use the same spoon for their beans then use it for something else, I had two children with me so I am not anti children at all, more anti parents.
As for the beer bellies and tattoos, oh gawd leave them alone they are friendly and harmless! , you hear and see far worse at Skegness!
The African lady well you HAVE to pay her a visit she is blooming SMASHING!
It seems like I have done nothing but moan, maybe I have BUT it is NOT aimed at the apartment at all, I agree with one person who sent a review, its fellow holiday makers! British!!
The beaches are wonderful, Cala D'or is wicked! The harbour is wow something to see! We will certainly be going back next year! Oh the weather was BRILL too! We have a wonderful tan.
I rate this 10 out of 10
Please don’t be put off by the reviews, go with 3* in your head as we did and you will have a lovely holiday, go with 5* in your head and you will be disappointed.
Oh & I know you want to get your moneys worth being all inclusive, but do you want to be talked about when you pile your plate so high, eyes are bigger than your belly!! Be discreet....don’t let the British down!

I have just returned from a weeks all...
9 / 10
Oct 2006, Miss T Bishop

I have just returned from a weeks all inclusive holiday (18/10/2006) with my partner and 2 kids boy aged 14 and girl aged 11. I must admit I had read the reviews about this complex and was very apprehensive about what was about to face us.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were very impressed with the look of the hotel and the warm friendly service we received from the reception desk which continued through out the holiday. We found the rooms very clean and spacious with a fridge, microwave, hob and kettle and toaster plus fresh towels every other day and the apartment cleaned most days too.
The staff were always more than happy to help and always done so with a smile. i do agree with the comments about the restaurant i.e. the food tended to be luke warm and very fish orientated but then you are next to a mariner so what do you expect.
Entertainment was quite good as they have a kiddies club which suits kids up to age of eleven plus games and activities for the adult’s i.e. shooting, water polo and darts. And the evening entertainment was quite good too. Matt, Flip and Balkje worked endlessly to entertain all and again done so with a smile on there faces even when confronted by some less than impressed minority customers.
The show bar had a wide selection of drinks including cocktails for the adults as well as for the children. For people who can't get on with the food there is and excellent restaurant in the town of Cala D’Or which does a great breakfast for just under 7 euros (Cheers Bar) and believe me I can eat yet I still struggled. And for people who want something local Churchill’s bar (British owned) is down by the spar shop along the mariner which does excellent food at reasonable prices.
We found the pools very impressive and clean and one pool has a snack bar were they serve hotdogs, burgers, sandwiches and chips (free for all inclusive). The kids were impressed with the whole holiday and so were we and a couple we got on with who had no kids. And many of the people we spoke too were booking again for next year ourselves included but this time for two weeks.

I went with my husband and our son...
7 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs J Gardner

I went with my husband and our son and his friend both aged 14. This was our third visit to this apartment. The two previous times were self catering, but this time we were all inclusive. The apartment was clean but required some new utilities.
The staff were very friendly (especially Oscar in the Marina bar). As usual the view of the Marina and the gardens were lovely. The quality of the food has gone down since going all inclusive but it was still value for money. The pools were overcrowded with people getting stocked up on the burgers and booze, so we went outside the complex most days and nights.
Best beach was Cala Mondrago a short bus ride away. Smugglers bar was nice, Bogarts for the footie, and Portofino for a meal. Loved the resort but the clientele on the complex left a lot to be desired.
