My wife and I stayed at the Akis in September for 10 days. Family run and very friendly, and rooms cleaned regularly and of good standard but basic cooking equipment. Pool excellent and Studios situated in a quiet area but very convenient for village. Poolside bar is good and provides snacks with a great special pizza. We hired a car for seven days from Alykes Car Rentals which was very competitive. Would go there again.

Myself and my patenter statyed at the Akis for 2 weeks at the end of June 2010. The Akis is a family run studios and apartments complex. The rooms are quite big but very basic - but you cant except anything more from Greece. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard and done so pretty much every day. the complex and pool are well maintained. The snack bar is open from about 9am to about midnight with all sorts of snacks/meals on offer. The akis has a great location as its tucked away from any roads, only 2 mins walk to the nearest supermarket, 10 mins walk from the resort centre and the beach. Really enjoyed our stay here and have already booked again for next year. Highly recommended.

Alykes has always been our favourite holiday resort but the Akis apartments are annoyingly penny-pinching - 5 euro per day to switch on the air conditioning or 2 euro a day for an electric fan. Together with having no clean towels for the last 4 days and one roll of toilet paper - only replaced when it has been fully used - I would recommend checking your accommodation carefully. We have stayed at 4 other apartments and they have all been excellent.

Apartments were adequate - bed, stove for hot water, basic shower - but not somewhere that you would want to spend too much time in! Also they were next to the infamous alykes salt lake, which gives of an unpleasant pond-like smell, and is a nesting ground for mosquito nightlife. Walking distance to any number of pools and not too far from the beach.
Alykes is otherwise a fairly nice place - much of it as you would expect from a Greek island. Fantastic when sunny - but it did rain some (including some very impressive thunderstorms that came through the bar ceiling). Not too much to do when the weather is poor I’m afraid.
The rest of the island is well worth visiting - take time to take a drive around it and visit some gorgeous beaches. Zante town itself is busy and worth avoiding if you are looking for a peaceful holiday - however if you fancy shopping then you might appreciate it more than I did.
Overall, a nice island to visit, worth seeing all of, with Alykes being one of the better resorts available on it.

Just returned from a week staying at the akis sept15-22 2011.Lovely large clean apartments, bins emptied every day clean towels and sheets once a week and cleaned through at least three times during my stay, well equiped kitchen,not that you need to do much cooking. I have been going to Greece for holidays for over 25 years and the Akis rates as one of the best accommodation I have had, very welcoming hostess and rambo the dog, lovely large clean pool. (although I did go to the beach most days) good food served at the pool bar at reasonable prices, Alykes itself is a lovely resort with a good selection of taverners to suit all tastes and a lovely beech. I travelled alone so anyone thinking to do the same I can recommend the akis I felt relaxed and very safe and comfotable.
